For the past 8 years, I have watched my mother's memory and everyday behavior decline. With that, I have watched my dad's quality of life plummet as he endured the stress of caring for someone with Alzheimer's. There were days where we all reached a point of desperation. I thought to myself-No one could care for her. She's too difficult. She will never allow us to take her somewhere for care. What are we going to do??? Then, we discovered Second Family. The workers there know exactly how to handle people suffering from this illness. They accomplish tasks with my mom that I never in a million years thought were possible. They bathe her weekly, do crafts, dance, walk, get fresh air, and most importantly, embrace her with the love and dignity every human being deserves. Furthermore, my mom's quality of life has improved, not only from what I just mentioned, but also from the friendships she has made there. When I talk to my father, after he picks my mom up from Second Family, our conversations always end the same. We both recognize that the workers at this facility are nothing short of angelic. They are true living angels, and we owe them the world. They have given my mom a safe, welcoming, loving place to go; they have given my father the hours necessary for self-care, the hours necessary to breathe. There are not enough "stars" on a rating scale to express my deep gratitude, and two words are certainly not enough, but for it's worth, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Staff are very professional, compassionate, knowledgeable and friendly. Very good to the consumers who attend, they are patient and concerned for the care and safety of each consumer. They take pride in their work and truly care.
