My father has lived in this home for a year. I call it a home, not a facility, because the people here are cared for with love and devotion. The caregivers work tirelessly to address every individual’s needs. My family and I toured numerous facilities in San Diego. Harborview exceeds all expectations.

Two years ago, we knew it was time to find a locked, memory care facility for our mom, and after visiting 5 or 6 places, the decision was obvious. HarborView in Bankers Hill is by far the best memory care facility in San Diego. From the outside, you would never know it was a place for people with Alzheimer’s. It’s tucked away, beautifully landscaped and tranquil with fountains on the outside. There are times when the planes fly overhead, however, my mom and most residents spend very little time outside so the planes are not a factor. Inside is a beautiful, welcoming home with intricate, hand-crafted woodwork. It’s not institutional-looking in any way. My mom has been there two years now, and we couldn’t be happier with the staff and management. They are the most caring, loving, attentive, family-oriented staff to all the residents. The facility and all the rooms are cleaned daily, the dining room cleaned and mopped after every meal. The beautiful view from the dining room looks out towards the San Diego bay and airport. They have music, exercise, arts and crafts available to those residents able to participate. I know and trust the staff and management with the 24/7 care of my mom. I know she is safe, cared for, and loved. We are so grateful to all of them. As hard as it is watching my mom die of the brutal disease, Alzheimer’s, knowing the staff are there to take care of her and keep her safe and visiting with them and the other residents makes this journey a little less painful. It is truly a family once you enter the doors, and we are so grateful they are here!

Harborview Senior Assisted Living exceeded my expectations. After an increasing number of falls and associated hospitalizations, I was no longer able to care for my 91 year old mother at my home. She didn’t want to have to move into an institution and I didn’t want her in one either. However I also didn’t want her in a place so small there wasn’t activities and stimulation. I’m so happy that with the help of a placement guide we found HarborView. It’s a beautiful mansion with manicured gardens set on a hill overlooking the stunning San Diego Bay that has 30 residents, a full staff and daily activities. After moving in we quickly found out that the staff is what really makes this place special. They are loving, attentive, respectful, courteous, caring and fun. There are always lots of smiles, laughter and music to enjoy as well as good food and the highest quality of care. I cannot recommend this place more. HarborView Senior Assisted Living was truly an answer to our prayers. HarborView is a beautiful loving caring home, not an institution. It was the perfect place for my beloved mother’s final days. She has left us now, but she was both blessed and enriched by the love and care she received from their wonderful staff. I, and all of our family, was blessed by them as well. Thank you HarborView.

As of July, 2023 my mom's been a resident of HarborView for going on 3 years. She suffers from dementia and is non-weight bearing (bed ridden). She requires a lot of care. We have a hoyer lift that is used to move her from her bed to her recliner and back again daily. I can't express enough how happy I am that I found this place. Fortunately I live close by and can visit regularly. HarborView is much more like a home than some of the larger facilities. It is more informal and welcoming. My mom's room is kept immaculate and has lots of windows and sunlight. The staff is always cheerful, kind and very, very helpful. From the owner, Jeff, to the ladies in the office, Gladys and Karli, to Magdalena, Gloria and all the other staff, I can't say thank-you enough for their efforts to keep my mom happy, safe and comfortable. Thank-you HarborView!

I highly recommend Harbor View Senior Assisted Living to take care of your loved ones.. Jeff and his capable staff have been taking care of friends of mine for over three years and since I act as the primary contact between Harbor View and my friends I have first hand knowledge of their care. Harbor View has always kept me updated on a regular basis regarding their care and immediately notifies me if anything out of the ordinary should come up. We are neighbors of the HarborView Assisted living and have had the opportunity to attend an open house in the past. I was very impressed with the beauty and spotless cleanliness of the interior. The staff was warm and welcoming and very attentive to the residents and guests. The views are stunning of the San Diego Bay. It is a grand home filled with antiques and polished wood floors. The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. It seems like one would enjoy the light and airy atmosphere of this home and benefit from the care here. It's quite lovely.

My Mother has been at Harbor View for seven years. We feel very fortunate and give thanks to GOD for finding this wonderful place for my Mother. All the people (I should call them angels) taking care of our elder are marvelous and caring!! During one of my visits, my mother asked me "What are all these people doing in my house?" her question made me so happy because she was feeling at home!! They don't just take care of their basic needs, but treat them as family. Your loved one would love this place.

The management and staff at HarborView are warm, caring, and professional. They take excellent care of the residents and do a good job of staying in touch with family. The pricing is more than fair. The facility and grounds are very pleasant. It is big enough to have an activities program for the residents, but not so big that it feels institutional. This place has good vibes and does a great job. I highly recommend it. They took great care of my very difficult uncle.

Jeff and the staff at HarborView go above and beyond what you'd normally expect from an assisted living home. Since taking over ownership last year they've made huge improvements to the home and to the day to day operations. I've heard nothing but good things from the outside service workers and family members I've met there. If you're considering assisted living or memory care for your loved ones I highly recommend scheduling a tour and checking this gorgeous and well run home out for yourself!

I doubt anybody with a parent or loved one who requires an extraordinary amount of care would ever relish the prospect of having to make the difficult decision of placing them in the custodial auspices of a third party, but one year ago, I had to make that decision, two years after it became highly evident that my dad was having increasing difficulty completing day to day tasks, and that he was starting to suffer from dementia symptoms he could no longer hide. Everybody with a parent who did their jobs properly would be able to easily attest that they want the best for their parent, regardless of their health, and regardless of the cost and toll. My dad is one of those people. For two years, I vowed to keep him at home, utilizing in home care givers while I worked, and watching after him while I didn't, but when his time at home became a safety liability, and his perception of where he was at all times became increasingly distorted and oblivious to the comfort of familiar surroundings, the benefits of keeping him with me were outweighed by the risks to him and the risks to my own livelihood. I toured beautiful and not so beautiful facilities throughout the county before meeting Jeff and his care team, and the first things that struck me about his facilities right away were the attentiveness to care, the excellent staff to resident ratio, and the utilization of comforting therapies and communal activities to keep the residents' minds active and engaged. While there seems to be a general standard in the type of activities assisted living and memory care facilities provide for their residents, Harborview (and Bayview), appeared to have a synergy between their care staff and residents that seemed familial and compassionate to a degree I did not notice in other Assisted Living facilities I had seen throughout San Diego. My dad was a guitarist for most of his life, playing in rhythm & blues, and dance bands throughout his adult life, while also providing audience for countless concerts and jam sessions orchestrated by local jazz legends around town. There is a healing and connective power music has to activate certain parts of the brain, even in people with dementia, and it was a comfort to see that a variety of music was always playing somewhere both in Harborview and Bayview, and that live performers were in regular rotation at both facilities, as a benefit to the residents. It has been one year since my dad was placed into Assisted Living with both Harborview and Bayview, and while the rate of advancement of his dementia, and the course of his journey has taken some difficult turns over the past year, I am absolutely confident that I made the right decision on his behalf, and that it has been made astronomically more comforting and bearable by the amazing team of Jeff, Genoveva and the entire care staff. All of them have been extremely supportive during the most difficult times, encouraging throughout the better ones, and more importantly, my dad has been treated like family, and our family has always been welcomed warmly. In a perfect world, a place like Harborview wouldn't need to exist for people struggling with the cruel cognitive impairment that comes with the territory of an Alzheimers/Dementia diagnosis, and the mysteries driving the onset of these conditions would be figured out, and preventable. But the world we live in doesn't afford us such luxuries. So, with an imperfect world in hand, all I can believe is that it is definitely made less imperfect because of places like Harborview, and years from now, when my dad has moved beyond the final steps in his story, the fact that he had a comforting, beautiful place to rest, and a genuine, compassionate and loving infantry of caring people around him at all times, was enough to place the dignified capstone on his life that he earned by virtue of his being a fantastic, hardworking man and parent.

HarborView Senior is a beautiful facility! The history and charn of the home is unmistakable, but more importantly the care is top notch. My family and I embraced the staff there while my aunt lived there and it really put at ease, knowing she was loved and well taken care of while we were not there. They knew her daily routine better than we did, and truly cared for her like family. You don't get that everywhere, as we saw when my auntie was in other places, so we were really grateful for HarborView. The new owners are locals, and are in the industry for the right reasons, it is evident. I wanted to write this review so others knew when they are searching for assisted living to look no further, this place is the real deal!

My aunt had the best care possible at Harbor View...very caring staff..all concerns and personal requests were attended to. The property is beautiful and serene and again the staff were all so kind and loving to my aunt. The owner Jeff was wonderful to work with and also Genoviva was always going the extra mile to help me quickly adjust care for my aunt...I would stay here myself when the time comes:-)))) Julie Emerick

Just visited Saturday, May 14, and sang for the residents with the His Voice Men's Chorus. It was very beautiful and clean, the residents seemed very content and the new owner (as of a month ago) appeared caring, diligent and very competent!!
