We recently had my mom stay at the Annandale assisted living campus and so far she is thriving. The outdoor area is beautiful and the staff is caring and kind. She enjoys many of the activities- like tai chi and yoga and the evening movies. She has her meals with a group of ladies and says the food is very good! She carries the daily calendar with her and the routine and familiar faces give her a sense of security. We had tried another facility and Brightview is by far better in terms of space and daily quality of life. I enjoy visiting her there as well and hearing about her day - there are so many comfortable spots to sit and visit.

The staff really helped out my dad at dinner time and cared about my needs too. The staff really took care of my mom to caring about her needs as well. Mrs. Toni was really great with my dad, my mom, and I. I really recommend this nursing home to people out there.

The employees at BV are so caring and friendly. They treat the residents like family and say hello when they see them and asj how they are. Elderly people need to know they are cared about. I have eaten lunch there and the food is not at all like hospital food! The avtivities get rhe residents out of their rooms. They keep the place immaculate. I love BV and the people that work there....they are angles here on earth to care for your loved ones.
July 2024
Amazing place for your loved ones. Staff treats residents like family. Even the food is good, not like that hospital food that you can't force yourself to eat! The love from the staff pours over those people, even the food servers.

Eternally grateful for the staff and Toni for making the transition across country into memory care a positive experience. We have seen an increase in my mother in laws overall mental and physical health and would highly recommend Brightview to anyon

I'll visit someone at Brightview about 2.5 times a week. Today the A&E room was at 79, and conversely, the pub was chilly for the resident. Other than that things are always nice at Brightview.
August 2022
We just moved my mother in law out of here. It was great for her at first when she was still mobile, but as her need for care increased, Brightview was not able to give her what she needed. That's fine, they are not a nursing care facility, and we knew that. The problem was that they kept insisting that they could continue to care for her. We waited too long to move her to a nursing facility because Brightview staff were not honest with themselves or us about what they could offer. They encouraged her to stay, presumably for the money. When we moved her out, we were disgusted to find mouse droppings under her chair and mouse traps and droppings in the closet.

Brightview Woodburn is fantastic! The Brightview team is very attentive to our loved one's needs and health especially during the last two years of the pandemic. We are lucky that we found Brightview. Great facility and great team!
June 2022
The staff her at brightview are so welcoming and attentive to their resident's needs. They work tirelessly to keep things operating at the highest capacity. Watching their management throughout the pandemic has been impressive and reassuring. They put their residents health and safety above all else. Their care and compassion is felt as soon as you walk through the door.
March 2022
I really wasn't sure what to expect when I moved my mother from her home in another state into Assisted Living here in VA. Overall, she has transitioned well thanks to the residents and the positive, supportive staff members at Brightview. Right when you walk in the door, everyone at the concierge desk is incredibly friendly and kind! They always greet you with a smile and are positive when responding to questions and offering assistance. The DON and nursing staff are always helpful. They are continually available to answer any questions and do a great job of ensuring my mother's prescriptions are accurately ordered. My mother really likes the med techs who administer her prescriptions they are compassionate and caring, and always take a moment to engage in a positive conversation with her; which makes my mother feel welcomed and cared about. My mother has a wonderful lady who supports her with bathing assistance. She is incredibly patient and understanding, and we really do appreciate her! The Activities team does a great job of involving residents, and the Activities Director has really introduced some great events for the residents to participate in. The Maintenance Director and staff are wonderful to work with and always responsive and positive when helping which has been very comforting while my mother was getting used to her new apartment. The dining staff members are incredibly hard working. Several of the servers took the time to get to know my mother and the food she likes/dislikes, offering suggestions if she is struggling with a selection. The Dining Director has also been open to menu suggestions that my mother might enjoy. The individuals who clean my mother's room do a really great job. We also really appreciate the individuals who do her laundry--always done well and put back in her room neatly. My mother has a large window in her room that lets in lots of light and has a gorgeous view of the trees and the beautiful landscaping she loves seeing the outdoors and nature. There is also a beautiful outdoor area for residents to sit and enjoy. My mother's level of care needs have been minimal, and she doesn't have any major health issues; therefore we haven't required Aide support thus far. While there have been some bumps in the road and a few things that haven't gone as well as I had hoped, when my mother is interacting with the positive staff members at Brightview it makes a world of difference in her day! I am thankful to those individuals for the care and support they provide my mother while she is in assisted living.

This Review is for Wellspring Village at Woodburn. Like many families we were living in denial that my mother in law (MIL) while showing some cognitive impairment was doing okay having a grandson living with her. Eventually, after a bathtub left with the plug in and running created a flooded house, we had to face the fact things were just not working out. Faced with needing a quick placement, I visited and talked with many memory care homes in the area. For the most part I was disappointed - rather dreary and uninviting and all about money. Bright View changed my entire perspective and took the lead easily after a couple of great conversations with Laura Daly. She was knowledgeable, upfront about their inclusive pricing and what we should expect. It wasn't just about selling a room she wanted to help whether Bright View was our final choice or not. Laura was unable to meet us for a tour, but the Director, Franc Cooper, took us around the building and offered the MIL a couple of different options for a room. As we walked around, Franc spoke to the residents by name. The people working on the floor spoke to us and made us feel welcome. The facility was spotless, the decor was well thought out and the community dining room and living room were very nice. The patio across from the memory care dining room offered the residents an opportunity to be outside and safe. It was one week from our first contact to move in day. We were met by Regina Allotey, the head of Wells Spring Village. My MIL was a little confused about what was going on, but Regina and her staff took her under their wing and got her settled and comfortable. While they advised to let a little time go by so she could settle in before we visited, Regina kept us informed as to how she was adapting. It is hard to believe a year has passed. The staff at Wellspring seems stable without a lot of turnover which I believe is important in memory care. Regina is very responsive to questions and the people working on the floor are always glad to see visitors and often greet me by name. My MIL is not always happy and gets herself a little worked up on occasion but the caregivers seem to know how to redirect her thoughts so she calms down. They are a very patient and caring group of people. We could not be happier with the care she is receiving. I feel like our family truly lucked out when we found a home at Bright View for my MIL. We no longer worry about her safety, meds are given on time and the people surrounding her care about her and all of the residents. Visit. I think you will be glad you did.

Best thing we did was take Dad out of here and not soon enough. His hand was blue and swollen as was his foot. Moved him from BrightView Assisted Living to The Virginian due to a fall and were charged for both places for two months. BV didn't take any clothes to him until we asked. Finally, we packed him up and flew him to Phoenix closer to family. What a pleasant difference. He now has incredible care, his hand and foot have healed, the facility, the food and the caring compassion is 10 times better than either BrightView or The Virginian at 1/2 the cost.
December 2021
We had a wonderful experience here. We moved my Dad down from NY to Virginia in June of 2021, and looked at a lot of facilities to put him into for assisted living. We ended up deciding on Brightview Woodburn for a variety of reasons--proximity to my house, cost, care packages, condition of the facility, and the staff. He only was here for about 9 months, as he had several health issues and ended up passing away in March 2022. I can't say enough about the care that he got here--they went above and beyond to make the end of his life dignified and comfortable. I'll never stop being grateful for their kindness, compassion, and expertise when it came to my father's care. Thank you to Frank, Z, Janet, Laura, Carly, and the entire team at Brightview Woodburn. We will never forget you! The entire Whearty family
October 2021
I have been a resident of BrightView Woodburn for several years and have found it to be a very positive experience, well beyond my expectations for a retirement facility. The facility is modern, the accommodations light and roomy, not too large, with a variety of spaces. There is a small gym, entertainment areas, a pub, restaurant - like dining room, library, movie room, etc. The grounds are particularly attractive. The most positive factor is the quality, friendliness, competence, attentiveness, and training of the nursing and aide staff. Enough cannot be said. The Directors are also very capable. They did a wonderful job of protecting us against the pandemic.
October 2021
I can't thank Brightview enough for all they did for our family. We will always remember how Brightview helped my parents in their final years; the leadership group was always attentive and sensitive to our family's requests. The staff workers who interacted with my parents daily will be remembered for their kindness and generosity of heart. It's a wonderful vocation that you all have chosen and you all do it so well.

May 2021
We found Brightview Woodburn in January 2021, after several months of looking for residential memory care for my father in the immediate DC area. Everything we considered before them felt both inadequate for his physical care needs and social well-being. My father was 82, with rapidly advancing Lewy Body Dementia/Parkinson's Disease. His care needs were significant. However, from the first meeting with Laura Daly (for our tour of Wellspring village) and our conversations with Franc Cooper (Executive Director) we were instantly at ease knowing they both come to this profession with a personal connection to caring for people with memory loss in their own families. It was clear that's how they and their team feel about every resident of their memory care community. As with any profession tasked with the safety and care of human individuals, there is a learning curve and there will be some bumps along the way. What impressed me most about Brightview was their constant communication about how my dad was doing -- even on a bad day or after a fall, they have strict protocol in place to alert family quickly and include us in care decisions. On several occasions, out of an abundance of caution, my dad made a trip to Inova Fairfax Hospital just to be sure a fall wasn't more serious than it appeared. While no memory care unit can prevent all falls, the way they respond and communicate with family and bring you into care decisions as they happen is where you find peace of mind. Additionally, Brightview did an excellent job of managing COVID safety regulations while also allowing visits. They welcome you to the community as if you, as family of their resident, are extended family of the whole community. Moreover, they allow unannounced visits whenever convenient for you, and it was my experience that my father was always clean, dressed, and with the community. His bedroom and bathroom were always spotless and his laundry always clean. The common spaces and hallways appear and feel as though you are visiting your loved one in a lovely, modern apartment building; not the outdated, stuffy, questionable smelling nursing home environment one might often imagine or find a memory care unit to be. Beyond meeting his physical care needs, the team at Brightview also treated my father as the person he was before Dementia. They knew he was an educated, thoughtful, charming, gregarious person before dementia and always treated him as such even when he was increasingly ill, only communicating in Arabic, or resistant to care. Although we were only part of the community for a little over 4 months, we are pleased with the care he received. Moreover, the residents who are earlier in their memory loss journey whom we had the opportunity to meet and interact with during visits with my dad, always seem calm, clean, and content in their surroundings. If that's not the hallmark of a good place, I don't know what is.
March 2021
My beloved husband Dave was diagnosed with Early Onset Dementia which eventually necessitated that he be placed in a facility. I could not continue being his 24/7 caregiver. Dave has resided in Brightview's Memory Care floor (Wellspring) for 11/2 years, and we are extremely pleased with his care! Brightview's staff, under the direction of Franc Cooper, has been sensitive, caring, and responsible! I am notified when significant issues arise. Executive Director Franc Cooper is extremely well-qualified and kind; he has led his team through this extremely difficult period of the pandemic, with great care, understanding, and compassion. Along with his staff, he has been extremely conscientious to keep our loved ones safe. My family and I are so very grateful to the heroes of Brightview Woodburn for their outstanding service, which has greatly benefitted Dave, all the residents and associated families. Brightview is a gem of great worth!
January 2021
The staff is so caring and respectful. There are tons of fun activities--musical performances, singalongs, arts and crafts, and outings. Brightview takes great care of my mom. It's homey and friendly. My siblings and I know we made the right choice.
January 2021
BrightView has taken great care of my father during an extremely challenging year. We appreciate the smaller community feel, personal attention, and abundance of activities offered. There are many wonderful staff who work tirelessly to give residents a high quality of life—Franc Cooper and Regina Allotey are among the best!
October 2020
It's an awesome assisted living facility. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I hope to retire in a place like this a long, long time from now.
June 2020
My mom has been a resident of Brightview Woodburn for almost a year after relocating from out of state. Transitioning to an assisted living facility is a huge life change and challenge in the best of circumstances. The community at Brightview Woodburn has been amazingly supportive during and since the transition. The community provides a safe, secure and comforting environment; and the staff are accessible, genuine and attentive in their interactions. Our relationships with staff have developed into one of an extended family.
May 2020
My father moved to Brightview after suffering a broken hip and leaving his home of 35 years to live near me. I can't say enough about the people who work there! They are truly the most caring and compassionate group of people I have ever met. My Dad originally lived in the assisted living section and a few months later moved to the memory unit. Wellspring Village was the perfect place for him as his memory started to fail and his hearing and vision failed. The staff helped my Dad and my family make the transition he needed. The residents are treated with the utmost kindness and respect. The facilities are beautiful and the food is quite good for institutional cuisine. Volunteer entertainers brightened the lives of the residents and family nights helped us socialize with others who knew what we were going through. The physical therapists and wound care specialists who came in were great as well. My only complaint was that the Remedi pharmacy service they work with. Their prices were unreasonably high and it seemed that charges didn't go through for months making it hard to follow up.
May 2020
It's like a fine hotel for retirement. They have great food service, and friendly staff. There are weekly outings to malls, restaurants, museums, you name it.
February 2020
I write this during COVID-19 - The regular updates, particularly when many community living environments are receiving such negative press, puts our minds at ease. We have an aunt in another state in a similar living situation and we actually sent a copy of a Brightview update to demonstrate what communication looks like! KUDOS to the staff of Brightview for maintaining COVID-19 - free living..
December 2019
Several months ago I began my search for the right place to move my elderly parents to live. I had many misses and was frustrated in til I hit the mark with Brightview Woodburn. I met with Shannon, the administrator, in March and she gave me a tour. The property is absolutely beautiful and looks like a trendy hotel. All the amenities were top notch and their philosophy on care was what I was looking for. I got a warm and sunny feeling not only for the property but with the employees that I met on my tour. It felt like it was the right place! Right before we were to begin the move in process, COVID 19 hit and Brightview was not taking mew move ins. We were so disappointed but understood and were happy to wait until it was safe for them to move in. The best part of all of this is that Laura Daly, who works with client care and move ins, started to call and check on us and my parents. She brought a meal from Maggiano's to their home in Maryland to help familiarize them with her face in order to aid in the transition once they were able to move in. Laura called, texted and emailed both me and my brother who lives outside of the area. She checked on us and my parents regularly. Additionally she helped us find a suitable rehab facility when my Dad had a hospital visit and needed to go to rehab for 4 weeks. She connected us with possible properties that would take them temporarily during COVID. She made phone calls for us as well. Unfortunately it became necessary to move my parents into another property before Brightview was ready to start taking new residents. We were sad to tell Laura that we had to make a move elsewhere but she understood and was so kind and happy that we got my parents somewhere safe. I highly recommend giving Brightview Woodburn a look for your assisted living or memory care needs.
