We visited 4 retirement communities in the Aiken area, before choosing The Barclay. My Mother in-law has been staying at this facility, for the past 13 Months. Could not be happier with this beautiful facility! Outstanding Team members, Daily events, Quality food service and weekly trips around Aiken. If I could give 6 stars - I would. Mother In-Law could not be happier.

This isn't a review based on anyone's personal stay, but I just got off the phone with a kind woman named Kim who took the time to answer several questions I’ve struggled to get answers to from both my parents and the hospital, especially after my dad's car accident left him significantly limited. Her help meant the world to me, and I can only imagine that this place is filled with people who genuinely care and listen. While it may not be the best option for my dad due to its distance from my mom, I am incredibly grateful for the support. Thank you again for everything.

The staff at Benton House have truly changed my mother's life. Over a year ago, my brother and I realized that we could no longer care for her ourselves. Our oldest brother had passed away just a few months before, and Mom was inconsolable, physically and emotionally in terrible shape. She had always expressly said that she never wanted to be put in a "home," but she was just not safe without someone around 24 hours a day. Thankfully, we found Benton House. She was surprised at how nice it seemed, and she agreed to try it. Since then, there have been a number of changes in our lives, but the one constant has been the support and compassion of everyone at Benton House. My mother is not just better since coming there - she is thriving and experiencing real happiness again. She spends time with peers who understand what it’s like to be her age. She takes part in outings and in-house activities that are fun and give her a sense of purpose. She is happier and healthier than she has been in years. She has gotten so much better that we recently discussed her moving back home. She wasn't interested. "I am home," she said. And that is the great irony: never wanting to be in a "home," she found her home at Benton House. It truly is assisted living. She is living her life, being her best version of herself; she simply gets help with all those things she needs while maintaining her independence and sense of self. She no longer has to worry about falling, or accidentally leaving the gas burner on overnight, or forgetting to eat or take her medicine. Continence issues, difficulty bathing and getting dressed “ things that used to make her feel like a burden “ are all handled with great care and compassion by the staff at Benton House. Mom tells me almost every day how well she is treated. The staff there have become like family to her and to all of us that love her. Whenever I leave after visiting, I find myself wishing that all assisted living centers could be that good. Getting older is difficult, but when you are valued for the person you are despite the things you can no longer do yourself, there is so much joy to be had! My mother is experiencing the joys of aging because of the kindness of the people who assist her every day. For that, we are blessed, and we are thankful.

My Mammaw and Pappaw live at the Benton House and they have nothing but nice things to say about the facility and the staff. Unfortunately, I live in Colorado so I am unable to visit as often as I would like, but it makes it easier being so far away knowing they have loving people taking care of them. The staff are always attentive and friendly. They truly do care for those under their care. The facility remains very clean and in working order. Residents are offered activities, outings, medical care and seasonal events. And all are performed with a smile, caring compassion and timely. A great place to visit. One day I would love to live in a residence like this.

The staff at this community are the angels in my life. My parents moved into Benton House 2.5 years ago. The staff has always been there to support my parents and our family despite the many bumps along the way. Living in a different state, I know that my father is loved and cared for by the entire staff. Benton House has handled the pandemic with positivity, creativity, laughter and grace. They give me peace of mind at a time it is so desperately needed. I just finished a visit with my father and I was tickled to see the laughter and love between him and the staff. We would highly recommend Benton House of Aiken! We have been overwhelmed with gratitude for all the staff has done for us, and more importantly, our Dad/Husband! The life-giving PT, medical attention, heartfelt care, delicious & nutritious meals, professionalism, super fun activities, guidance, communication, and authentic LOVE has been nothing but WONDERFUL! "Coach" has an amazing "Team" who assist and care for him while keeping his spirits lifted! A special shout out to the "Team Captains", Cullen McCormick and LaRobyn Samuel, for your top-notch commitment, care and love for Coach!! The pandemic has been incredibly difficult on everyone, especially those in memory care/assisted living. I could not be more pleased with the care my wife has received at Benton House. The staff truly care about the welfare of the residents. They really went overboard during the lock down, and as a result there were very few covid cases - a significant difference from most long-term care facilities. I have been kept informed of my wife's health during the time I was not able to visit her, and they always accommodated my requests to help her connect with me via video chats. My hat is off to all of them.

My father has been a resident of Benton House in Aiken for two years. Through other family members we have had experience with several other senior living facilities in Aiken. Benton House is a notch above any of the others! The team members of Benton House have always been kind and helpful. When the time came to move my husband of 36 years to Benton House in the middle of a pandemic I was extremely anxious, depressed and, honestly, terrified about how it would work out because he has dementia and would not understand what was happening. From the beginning of our journey into making this decision every member of the Benton House team went out of their way to encourage and comfort us. This is the best decision I could ever have made for him. Every single one of his caregivers are kind, compassionate, professional and treat him with the dignity that we all deserve. My check in calls are always answered with a cheery voice and even though they are all extremely busy I have never felt that I was bothering them and when he has a good day they are so happy. I do not feel that this is something that can be faked. I have been so impressed with the way EVERYONE interacts with each other and there is never any indication of someone being upset about doing something that is not my job. In my experience in this day and age such dedication and commitment is truly remarkable. Everyone works so hard to make sure that he is as comfortable and content as possible which is very comforting to the caregiver now on the outside (me). Shortly before he moved in we got a card from Benton House welcoming us to the family and there is no question that this is a family and I will be forever grateful that we are a part of it. You are most definitely our heroes for being on the front line and taking such good care of our loved ones especially throughout all of the trials and tribulations we have experienced over this past year. Our family knew Benton House was special after the first visit. Meeting Nicole, Margaret, LaRobin and many of the support staff and seeing nad hearing how they interact with their clients set our minds at ease when we knew it was time to transition mom into a long term care facility. Once the pandemic hit, we were worried about mom and not being able to see her, but ALL the staff at Benton House has gone above and beyond to make sure each client is well cared for and loved. We know that we chose the right place for mom. Benton House has taken the precautions during the pandemic seriously, ensuring each and everyone's safety and well-being by following the CDC guidelines, and keeping families well informed of the ins and outs of their decisions making processes. Susan and I are so very grateful for Benton House of Aiken and the amazing Ladies and Gentlemen who work so hard to support its' residents. For almost two years, support and care for my Mom and Dad has been very professional and sensitive. When my Mom passed away in November 2020, all of Benton House rallied in her Memory and to support my Dad during such a difficult time for our Family. The past year with the pandemic has been very challenging yet we know my Dad is most protected, most cared for and on his behalf, we thank you very much! We are so blessed to have all of you caring for and loving my Dad.

My mother moved into Benton House just before the lockdown in 2020. Our family could not be more thankful for the excellent care she has received while living at the home. Our family member has lived here for about 18 months. The staff are positive, caring, attentive, and respectful of her needs. She enjoys the social gatherings, especially the singing. This has become her home, and she is surrounded with caregivers who ensure her safety and well being. Grateful for the care she is receiving!

We recently needed an interim place for my mom to stay while she was recovering from hip surgery and receiving PT. Benton House was fantastic! The Leadership/management and staff constantly exceeded our expectations in every aspect. Such a caring facility!!

Words will never adequately express our appreciation of the staff at the Benton House of Aiken. Our mother, Lillian, has been treated consistently with kindness and respect. All of the staff; cooks, maintenance, nursing staff, administrators, custodians, have been pleasant and extremely accommodating. We admire the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual support that is provided to our mother and all of the residents.
