When my mom Antoinette first went into care at The Oxford at the age of 94, she was not interested in participating in activities, not having left her room when she was still living at home either, but the recreation staff persisted in inviting her and encouraging her to attend. So after first arriving in Oct 2023 she refused to go to the Family Christmas party but by the start of 2024 until the end of 2025, she went often to bingo, played word games, did arts and crafts, listened to music with other residents, went to the occasional spiritual service, helped to make a pumpkin pie, regularly sat out on the balcony and even went on a bus outing to look at Christmas lights. We had a great time together with her not only at the Family Christmas party in 2024, but also at the Mother’s Day Tea, and the Hawaiian Family party in 2025. Her door was always decorated on her birthday so everyone would know and could wish her a Happy Birthday. Mom had a lovely room that she could decorate with personal items, and surprisingly had a great view of the Abbotsford Airshow which she enjoyed watching with us from her window each year. The food offered a nice variety and Mom said it was very good and more than she could eat. The care staff were attentive to her needs, and always tried to make her comfortable and at ease, even when Mom did not always want the fuss. When Mom became very ill, the nurse and care staff took extra time and attention to check in on her, encourage her to drink and eat a bit, and ensured that she wasn’t in discomfort. Although my mother recently passed away at age 96, we were very happy that she had been able to spend her last years with so much care and attention at The Oxford.

My wife has only been at The Oxford for one week but in that time I have been so impressed with the care and concern shown by all the staff and also with the ease of communication with everybody from the Managers down. Now over 2 years and everything I said is the same. Staff are amazing in the care of Helen who has gone from someone who could walk with a walker, feed herself to what she is today where she can’t do anything for herself and needs to be pushed in a wheelchair. The Care team and nurses have adapted her care to make sure that she is comfortable and treated her with the utmost respect. Not only do they treat Helen this way but go out of their way to make myself and other families very welcome. The great thing also is that there is always communication regarding health matters between the nursing staff, the doctor and myself. I couldn’t ask for a better Home for Helen to be cared in. Thankyou to the management for overseeing everything involved in the running of The Oxford.

The care staff make an effort to invite my mother to activities, and the encouragement done in the right way means that she has sometimes participates. It makes me happy that they make that effort, and that the right, friendly approach does sometimes payoff. I get to hear about how she won a treat at Bingo, or that someone helped her fill in her card. I also like that my mother is able to have her meals in her room as that tends to be her preference. The meals are very good.excellent

We have entrusted our cherished aunt to The Oxford Senior Care Home and we give a five star review. Living in another province means we can't be present when we would like to be. We are very pleased with the caring, friendly staff who also care so much about our aunt. We have good communication with The Oxford when it is required. We have complete confidence that our aunt is living the best life possible. Thank you to all the staff at The Oxford. We appreciate you!

We are very happy with the support the Oxford provides for our aunt, who has been a resident since Feb 2019. Nurses answer the phone for specific updates and answer questions. If one leaves a message, the call is returned quickly. Staff is found to be friendly, helpful, and engaging as seen during our visits. Many activities are scheduled, and much effort is made to encourage participation. Management helps with residents. Seen them spend some one-on-one time with a resident; brushing her hair as she visited. Within the last 2 years, a mission statement with vision and values was developed to help focus staff and resident family members. Is working to build fluency by everyone. (Posted in the facility and referenced / reviewed in Family Council Meetings). Staff recognition program (Above and Beyond) in place. Virtual visits were facilitated by staff during the time of COVID restrictions and these virtual visits continue during the endemic. Extra effort for family members to connect with residents. Quick to secure facility when COVID is discovered. Established protocols are quickly implemented to limit spread. COVID updates are given frequently to family members in addition to a regular monthly update to families and monthly activities calendar. Entry to the facility requires a negative Antigen Test. Much effort to limit COVID. Family Council Meetings give a more formal touchpoint between staff and family members. Opportunities exist at these meetings to discuss issues and improvements. Facility is pet friendly and offers additional services like hair styling & foot care beyond the foundation medical & dental service. Exhibiting good discipline in holding annual medical reviews with family members. We really appreciate the Oxford and are happy that our aunt with dementia is there.

My sisters and father would like to recommend Oxford as a result of our experience with our mother living there for 6 months or so. The administration were so easy to work with and made the business side so easy. A refund for unused time was processed promptly. The nurses who worked with Mom were amazing. All of our interactions with them were pleasant, cheerful and caring. They were prompt to notify us and the doctor of falls or care changes needed. The care aides were always patient and kind with mother. Oxfords resident doctor was terrific also. She took time to explain her reasoning and was careful to consult prior to medication changes. She listened patiently to our concerns and questions... Mom is now in a funded Fraser Health facility and I must say it does not compare to Oxford especially with the level of staff to resident. You would be fortunate to have a loved one residing at Oxford. Thankyou Heather, Dena and the those who cared for Mom.

My grandpa spent the last few years of his life at the Oxford. On behalf of my mother, his daughter, I share the following observations about his care at the Oxford: "Excellent sensitive individual care, extremely clean and bright premises, supportive of both residents and their families. Also healthy and tasty food." My mother also really appreciated their sensitivity and caring with respect to the family's needs around the time of his passing. We are grateful to the Oxford and everyone who works there for providing for my grandpa's needs so well and working with my mother to keep him as comfortable as possible at the end of his life.

I am very pleased that my husband is comfortable and well cared for at the Oxford. To me respect is very important as it covers everything: people, the work to be done and equipment to be used. Our family is happy that all of these apply and he is well cared for.

Mom needed a full care facility on short notice due to failing health and the Oxford was our choice from a list of 10 facilities. From the moment we entered, the management paid attention to our needs. They listened, took notes, gave a very detailed tour and welcomed us to phone or come back for further information. The building has been extensively renovated last year and it shows the quality that is throughout the establishment, not only in physical nature but in the staff and the care. The building is bright, open, spacious and decorated in modern tones which eliminates the institutional feel that most buildings have. The baby grand piano is a pleasant touch. We needed a room quickly and the Oxford management was able to fit us in on three days notice. The move in was uneventful and the staff totally involved with mom so that she was made to feel at home right away. Her room, except for the provincially mandated hospital like bed, was bright with two large windows looking out onto the garden and had a homelike feel. There is enough room to bring in some personal furniture which we did. This I believe to be important as transitions to full care should always be made with trying to keep some items of furniture and personal items into the new residence. Mom's needs included personal care issues, mobility issues and medical issues. Within a day the resident doctor paid her a visit, the pharmacy account was set up, and the staff in their respective fields visited to assess and acquaint themselves. The building is very secure and we feel mom is in the right place to handle all of her needs. As she has German heritage, she is even allowed to sing her German polka's during singing hours. LOL (she can't hit all the notes anymore) We will recommend the facility and staff as a place for anyone needed Full care/Complex for a family member.
