Unlike the other larger facilities where your loved one is "just" a resident. Springhill Mount Vernon is a close-knit senior living community where both residents and family members bonds together easily. Aside that we have some very good staff to take care of your loved ones. As the Executive Director, my doors are always open for you.

The management of this facility changes quite often. Some staff are disorganized and uncertain the location of their residents. The facility is pleasant some days while others it has foul odors. I have never seen such a lazy, inattentive staff that do not work. Many times, staff are sitting around talking in the common areas instead of tending to the needs of the residents. I have visited for over 3 hours at a time and found staff sitting in the same place the whole time I was there. If you have a loved one here, make sure you are not on a schedule. You NEED to make unexpected visits often. If the resident is unable to go to the dining hall to eat, they may OR may not deliver the food to their room. (it will be cold if they do or just a turkey sandwich). Oh, they will charge you $10 extra to deliver (each time) and they will not make sure the resident eats. Some staff were caught acting inappropriately with each other in a vacant room. I did like that they had activities for the residents (bingo, ice cream socials,etc). The people running those activities seemed nice. However all the other staff are inattentive and playing games on their phones/Ipads when they are NOT on break. (I know because I would ask "Are you on break?" and they would catch nasty attitudes). This could be a great place if they would better train their staff, keep the residents clean, and if the staff stop using vacant rooms for pleasure.

My mother chose Spring Hills Mount Vernon over other facilities because she felt so much more comfortable there. The layout of her 1 bedroom apartment is well designed, with huge windows and lots of light. She overlooks a courtyard with views of a vegetable garden and trees that reminds her of her own home. The staff has been very accommodating, and we especially appreciated that the chef met with her personally to understand her dietary needs. I have every expectation that my mother will be well cared for at this facility.

SPRING HILLS is a hidden treasure where the staff are passionate the residents enjoy golden years with amazing activities that go on SEVEN days a week and the menu with about 20 items each day is delicious; the tenure of the team brings a calm to the residence and family to know that they have familiar faces that they can count on seeing each day.

Mount Vernon Assisted Living has always provided excellent care and customer service. Management team is always available for families, residents and staff.

Skipped this place if you can. Covid restrictions are in place. Staffing is thin especially on weekends and holidays. No bus driver and resident concierge. Activities director is very good but wears many hats. Communication between staff members, not there. You have to stay on top of what is going on and advocate for your love one. Feedback is received but actions not always. If you live at a distance and expect the care you are promised, don't. The quality of care is dependent upon the experience level of the caregiver assigned to you that day. It is inconsistent. Property needs updating as well as the courtyard, gazebo, interior rooms, etc... staffing needs dementia training. Changes in ED, twice in a year. The only plus to this place is the new ED is an RN. Update: another new acting ED and a new Director of Residents Care. Be a while before they get up to speed. Still caregivers are not consistent with care. Lots of training still needed. Lack of communication among staff. Currently residents in isolation due to Covid outbreak in community and staff. Some one on one activity and group activity limited to ten. Residents eating in rooms. 1/5/2023 ! So an update. New ED. Pretty soon a new DRC. No chef or maintenance mangers. Staff comes and goes. You do not want to leave your love ones here. They only good thing is activities. Staff changes are a mess at 3:00pm. Some staff members do not show up on time leaving residents in need of changing wet dirty Depends or diapers. Constant problem. If you can walk and talk and advocate for yourself then it is ok. Anyone in a wheelchair or has dementia of any sorts, you need to be there to support your loved one. Think twice! August 2023

I was referred to SH from A Place for Mom. I've had several interactions with this community. Most specifically, Ms. Latasha White, Community Relations Specialist. My experience has been nothing but positive. Although we are not quite ready for this move due to medical reasons, SH would be at the top for AL needs. Ms. White is a PERFECT AMBASSADOR for Spring Hills. One conversation and you will know what I mean. Thank you, Ms. White for being proactive, videos, invites, and continuing to work for us.

I think SOME of the ppl working there try and mean well (only reason not one star), but they were severely understaffed and had not-so-good ppl running this location. 24 hours?! Ha! Many times called in the a.m and no answer. Left msgs and was ignored. The worst was they lied to me or neglected to tell me about bad instances w/ my loved one's care, and things didn't end well. . Be VERY suspicious of the recent 5-star reviews that are very close together... another deception(?)

BEST SERVICE EVER. I came in to Spring Home Care and a gentleman there by the name of Omar assisted me and explained to me thoroughly how the service works and pushed me in the right direction to apply for my grandparents. We moved our friend in to Spring Hills Mount Vernon in June 2014 and have been very happy. She is in Spring Cottage, the memory care unit, and they take wonderful care of her. There are always fun activities the residents participate in and there are also events in which both the assisted living and memory care people do together, which I feel is fantastic. All of the staff is very caring and loving and address any issues you have promptly. It is comforting to know she is taken care of so well.

My mother, who has dementia, has lived in the memory care unit for a year. I cant say enough good things about this facility. The staff is outstanding, very caring and friendly and that includes everyone. My mother is very happy there and I am there frequently. I have never encountered anything to make me question the care she is getting. I would wholeheartedly recommend this facility and my family and I are completely satisfied with every aspect of Spring Hills Mt Vernon.

I cannot say enough about the facility and the people that work there. The facility is clean, bright and has a feeling of being home. These were many of the characteristics that were on my list when doing research for a location for my mother to live. The staff is kind, courteous and very attentive to the residents needs. If me or any member of my family has a concern or question the staff is quick to respond.

I moved my mom to Spring Hills Mount Vernon a couple of months ago from another assisted living facility. She is doing MUCH better at spring hills and Im quite pleased. I always thought assisted living facilities were all about the same. Its not true. At Spring Hills, ALL of the staff are caring, warm, and really show support for all the residents, not just my mom. Some of the nice perks that may seem small but have definitely been an improvement are: complimentary toilet paper and tissue and laundry service. The food is much better, more variety and the environment is more like a restaurant. My mom enjoys being served with cloth tablecloths and napkins. The servers are caring and help out all of the residents. I highly recommend Spring Hills Mount Vernon.
