My parents moved to a cottage at Granite Hill Estates in 2006, and my mother remained after she was widowed a few years later. My father knew that she would be well cared for if he passed away first. My mother loved exercises with Jayne, book group, and working in the library for many years. I became a resident and moved in with her when she couldn't live alone anymore, and I saw first-hand the benefits of living at Granite Hill. Everyone who worked there was attentive, friendly, and helpful, and the neighbors were thoughtful and kind. The campus is beautifully landscaped and peaceful, while the proximity of stores and other necessities enables one to do errands easily. I loved the space and privacy of living in a cottage while knowing that help was close by and that services such as snow plowing and trash pick-up were taken care of. My parents' decision to move to Granite Hill was the best thing they could have done, and the family is very grateful.

Living at Granite Hill Estates over the last two years has provided me a chance to meet new friends and to be active in social gatherings , exercise and I have joined a couple of committees (Wellness and Welcoming). The entire staff are always willing to go the extra mile to assist the residents in whatever need they might have. I made a great choice in choosing Granite Hill Estates as a permanent resident.

I moved from Indiana to GHE 7 months ago to a very welcoming and stimulating community with the support of friendly residents and my near by family, and caring and competent staff. As a 99 y/o widower, I only wish GHE provided end of life care without the necessity to move yet again.

I recently toured the facility and I absolutely love the warm friendly environment. The staff are genuine and you can tell they absolutely take pride in their job. I was so impressed by all the residents that came up and took the time to speak and truly love their home away from home. Briana makes you immediately feel relaxed and is very sweet and informative and you know she is looking out for you and the best interest of your loved ones. I highly recommend Granite Hill.

The staff is amazing. They are very supportive and offer help at every turn. I live in a cottage and am so pleased with the willingness of staff to answer every request. The Lodge is open and welcoming with many activities and facilities for all residents. A great place for my "golden years."

Everything about this facility is exceptional! My Mom has resided there for almost a year, and my family & I are extremely grateful for the attentiveness of all the staff members. Every resident is treated like family, and the amenities are amazing! Mom has fully immersed herself in many activities (multiple exercise programs, gardening, crafts, games, field trips, informative presentations) too many to list them all!! She will tell you the food is awesome & she is thankful that she no longer has to shop for groceries or prepare meals! She has made many new friends, and is still very independent, volunteering and participating in other activities in the community. Granite Hill provides exceptional services by caring and compassionate employees in a beautiful setting. Thank you!

Our Dad has been at Granite Hill since 2020 and we are so happy with the care and comfort that he has received. Dad was feeling quite lonely when he moved to Granite Hill Estates after my mother, his wife of 66 years died, and selling the home they had built together. He was immediately embraced by the entire GHE community - all staff and residents. At this point he’s an integral part of the community, participating in most of the many activities offered daily. The entire staff interacts with the residents creating an aura of family. The care and kindness each staff member gives my father assures me that he is in a safe, loving environment and I couldn’t imagine him being anywhere else. Five stars is not enough!

Within the quaint and charming old town of Hallowell, we have found wonderful new friends and camaraderie here at Granite Hill. We are thankful to have met so many kind, outgoing, energetic, welcoming and helpful men and women, living vibrant, active and interesting lives. GHE offers many and varied amenities including social gatherings, intellectual pursuits, yoga, exercise, art, and so much more. Throughout the GHE acreage, where bucolic views, beautiful forests, and well maintained trails abound, many walk, hike, and snowshoe, or relax enjoying the sunshine and the views. The GHE cottages, apartments, and grounds are well tended and cared for with repairs and maintenance only a phone call away. Here at GHE we can truly "Take the Time to Enjoy Life" among friends who appreciate life and the environment, and where our family loves to visit.

Donna Martin, I'm about to celebrate my 5th month at Granite Hill Estate. This has been a time of reflection of my trepidation about leaving my last home in Farmingdale for about 53 years plus the rationale to live at GHE. I want to express my sincere appreciation for the patience & assistance that you & Steve Roy have provided in the past and still provide. I know that I made the correct decision to relocate to GHE! I have been very impressed with the quality & quantity of services provided by all personnel to include but not limited to top management, maintenance, and housekeeping staffs. I have been especially impressed with the kitchen staff from the chefs to the wait staff for the quality, quantity and diversity of menus plus the personal and helpful manners in which meals are provided. Not to be overlooked, is the pleasant attitude and offers to provide additional assistance by all staff. The comments expressed above plus the wide variety of available activities enable one to appreciate & enjoy life to its fullest with minimal personal responsibility. One can be very active and participate in many activities or decide to have quiet time and/or do other personal activities. I do have a comment that you can do little about. It seems that my clothes may be shrinking. However, my scale indicates that I have been gaining weight. I do not wash my clothes in hot water which may cause them to shrink. Therefore, it seems that I have to make a personal decision to reduce the amount of delicious food intake you folks provide. Thanks again for everything. It is very much appreciated. Eugene M.

The relationships and engagement between residents, families and staff create a close-knit community. Residents can trust that their needs will be met with professionalism and empathy, while staff members who have worked there for many years provide continuity and stability. The quality of resident centered care, wide range of activities led by Jayne and other staff, Chef Dave's delicious menus and various comfortable independent and assisted living arrangements create an ideal place to live. Steve in Marketing, a long time staff member, is so helpful in finding just the perfect fit and helping prospective residents feel right at home!

My mother has been living in Independent Living at Granite Hill in Hallowell ME for the past three years. This has been an unequivocally positive experience. My mom not infrequently exclaims: "The staff here are so nice!" Now it is time to shift over to Assisted Living and both Donna Martin and Steve Roy have been efficient and supportive. Donna took the time to sit down for an extended talk with my mother in which she served as a sounding board for any and all questions and concerns about this significant transition. She also gave invaluable logistical guidance to me about what I needed to do in preparation. No complaints, only gratitude!

Granite Hill Estates is truly an amazing community. The staff and residents are all caring, supportive, friendly, and understanding. There are numerous activities which include exercising classes, arts and crafts, movies, and games to name a few. The meals are superb! My mom is flourishing in this community...the friendships, activities, and socializing ...we as a family are so grateful.

My husband and i were in our mid-70's when we moved into a cottage at Granite Hill Estates three years ago from a more isolated home in the western mountains. We wanted to find a community that we could become part of for the next stage of our lives, and this, we did! From our first days here, the staff helped us settle in, introduced us to the many activities available, and responded to any needs we had. Day by day, month by month, we joined in on exercise classes, including a class in the pool, attended resident meetings and different groups. We showshoe in the winter, take a fast walk 3 mornings a week with a small number of other residents, led by two staff members. My husband became Treasurer of the Residents Council, and now is part of a new committee on the Council. He joined a newly forming men's group that meets on Saturdays for snacks, conversation and humor. I started a Writing Group ('Writing Our Stories') that meets weekly, and gives readings once a year, with 30-ish residents in the audience. We look forward each month to the new art show in the main bldg. We have a beloved dog, well known in the community because of our frequent daily walks with her. And we have so many friends here now. We feel invigorated in this beautiful community, all of us facing 'our later years', with shared enjoyment of common interests, concerns, memories, and our individual family stories.

Our neighbors are friendly, the staff is super supportive, and the opportunity to be involved in activities and committees are abundant! We found our perfect place!!

We are in the process of moving my mother into Granite Hill and our family could not be more pleased with the facility, the warm, efficient and welcoming staff and unit in The Lodge itself! Everything has been managed so well and my mother is thrilled to make the transition into this beautiful retirement community. We are both excited and comforted by the idea of her being there and being so well cared for. Kudos to their caring and professional staff!
