My Mom moved into the assisted living portion of this facility when Eskaton owned it 9 years ago this month as she had Alzheimer's. She still drove and handled her own finances and even medications then. About 3-4 years ago, she had to be moved into the memory care portion and steadily declined up to being on hospice this year. Sad to watch your loved one slowly fade due to this disease. She passed in her sleep Monday, so now she no longer suffering. I must say EVERYONE I ever interacted with here at Eskaton and then Carlton has always been kind, patient, professional, and tried to make her comfortable. Even interactions I saw with other residents were the same. I do think Carlton taking out the fireplace in the main entry room was a huge mistake - no longer near as homey and inviting as it was. Anyway, thank you to all the staff at Carlton Orangevale for all you did for my family and my Mom! God Bless you all.

Our family is very thankful to have moved our parents, over three years ago, in to The Carlton Senior Living in Orangevale,. The clean, finely decorated facility, has a great hands on General Manager Manny. He is consistently in contact with caregivers, residents, and family, to insure the ultimate care is given. We are always confident in Mom and Dad’s needs being met. Their multi- level care given to them by the cheerful staff is welcomed by my parents and they feel loved and cared for. I quite frequently visit at The Carlton, and I am always pleased to see their care is consistent. We are so fortunate to have chose The Carlton

My parents moved into Carlton Senior Living Orangevale, three years ago. We immediately felt like part of the family. The care, support and love the staff, care partners, nurses and med techs deliver to my mom and dad is heart warming and comforting. It is not easy caring for elderly parents, and I appreciate that the staff and care partners regularly check on my well being too! There have been numerous times when the attention given to my parents has gone above and beyond what could be expected. Recently my father passed away, the love and support given to my mom and me brings tears to my eyes. Everyone continues to regularly check in on my mom (and me) to make sure that we are doing the best we can. Mom's friends from the community and the gentleness and compassion of all at Carlton are helping us cope with this loss. We are go grateful for everyone at Carlton and happy to be part of that family.

This place is very expensive. They do not tell you when you are interested in moving in. For escort to activities/dining room=extra charge My mom needing them to give her, her med equals extra charge medications over 11 ea equals extra charge nursing service equals extra charge not including if they are only going in there 1x,2x,3x a day or a week is all different charges. to do my moms shower for 2 or 3 times a week equals added charge to change my moms diaper equals extra charge to do laundry 1x or 2x a week equals extra charge more freq cost more to throw out trash 1 times/week extra charge if you want trash thrown out 2x a week its an added charge. every year they raise their prices there are LVNs there only for 8hrs a day not 12-16 hours a day like it says on the website (this is false advertisement) There are nicer and cheaper places than this. Im considering moving my mom out she does love the staff and she is happy but this place is too expensive I gave it 5 stars so my review will show first but I would give it a 3/5 stars because... -EXPENSIVE WITH HIDDEN COSTS -FALSE ADVERTISEMENT -LOW STAFFING I see some office people helping on the floor but not the managers of the care partners. -THE FOOD IS COLD regardless if my mom eats in the dining room or in her room

My father lived at home for 94 years, but after a brief illness, he was hospitalized. When the hospital planned to discharge him, we realized he wasn't ready to go home alone and would need support to regain his strength. We toured Carlton Senior Living and were impressed with the facility. However, after less than three weeks, we discovered it wasn’t suitable for him and moved him out. While the staff were friendly, the place was clean, the food was good, and the grounds were pleasant, it was not a fit for someone like my father that needed more assistance. Knowing what I do now, the place is ideal for those who want to avoid housework, engage in activities, and not cook. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the right fit for someone needing assistance with basic tasks like using the bathroom or showering. My dad required more help, which led to significant additional costs”almost doubling the original quote. The staff didn’t respond quickly enough when he needed assistance. On one occasion, he needed assistance and couldn't wait any longer for help. He tried to get up by himself and fell, hitting his head and requiring paramedics. I also requested multiple times that his night lamp be connected to the Alexa outlet for voice control, but that never happened. He was frustrated with the lack of assistance, in a timely manner, so we looked for alternatives. After moving him out, I was shocked to receive a bill for over $10,000 more than expected. This added to the emotional stress I was already experiencing. After pointing the error out, the bill was corrected but I should not have had to do their accountants job. We eventually moved my father to a board-and-care residential facility, which is providing the care he truly needs, and I wish we had made that choice from the beginning.

My mom moved into the Oak Ave. Carlton Memory Care wing in Aug 2022 and she passed away one year ago today peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by the campus's majestic oak trees and under the compassionate care of the entire Carlton organization. Special props to MC Unit chief Trudy and her kind, friendly & very professional associates like Brinda, Rebecca and many others who helped make Cathy's last year a happy enjoyable one.

Having worked in the senior care industry for over 25 years, I've seen my fair share of assisted living facilities. I want to share my personal experience with the exceptional care and warmth provided at Carlton Senior Living in Orangevale to my mother. Two years ago, when my mother suffered a stroke, I made the decision to move her to Carlton, and I have never looked back since. The love and attention she received from the care partners, medication techs, other staff and leadership team far exceeded my expectations. Even during her hospital stays, the staff eagerly awaited her return, showing just how much she meant to them. The sense of community that my mother found at Carlton warmed my heart. She made friends and truly felt at home, which brought her immeasurable joy. I wholeheartedly recommend this community to anyone seeking a nurturing environment for their elderly loved ones. Even during her final days, my mother spoke fondly of returning to Carlton, where she cherished the care, companionship, and delicious meals prepared by Chef Robert. The 10 pounds she gained from those delightful desserts was a testament to the joy she found in every aspect of life at Carlton. Words cannot adequately express my gratitude for the happiness and peace of mind Carlton brought to my mother's life, and by extension, mine. Thank you to everyone at Carlton (I wish I could name them all but there was too many) for loving and caring for her as if she were family. Forever in gratitude, Christine Grmolyes

Moved my dad with Lewy Body Dementia into this facility after the last place he was at wasn’t working out. He passed away last week while living at Carlton and I cannot express how kind, compassionate and loving they were to my dad and my family. They took great care of him while he was alive, and when the time came they bent over backwards to make sure we could be by his side the whole time. They brought us water and lemonade, blankets in the middle of the night, and checked on him and us constantly. Thank you Trudy and Carlton staff from the bottom of our hearts.

The staff, led by Trudy the director of memory care, is truly professional and very caring. They absolutely know how to care for residents with these very special needs. Our Dad moved in one year ago to the Assisted Living side. The facility was the closest we could find to match his love of nature with bird feeders, multiple patios, lovely grounds and interior space. He has recently had multiple health challenges that have increased his care needs significantly. Their staff is their greatest asset. They have all stepped up to help him maintain as much normalcy and dignity as possible. They are approachable, kind and compassionate. We are very thankful that we chose them after visiting several other facilities.

My father-in-law is 93 years old and is a resident of the Carlton. His beautiful wife Ruth has been visiting him every day since he’s been there . She would walk around the facility 4-7 times a day for her exercise and joined him for lunch and dinner every day. I went to check on my father in law after Ruth was in a horrific car accident on the way to visit him. Amanda and Anna, two care takers there came in to check on him and the love on their face told me how concerned they were for him and of course, so very concerned for Ruth. For this I’m forever grateful. Yes, I gave them 5 stars and highly recommend the Carlton.

Update: I need to put a disclaimer here now, when I posted my reviews this was an Eskaton facility, my mother has passed so is no longer a resident and I can't speak personally for the quality now, but from others I have talked to they replaced the facility manager with someone who actually cares about the residents and not just the bottom line (Thank God) so things on that end are much better and the staff is happier and feels wanted, so that has to help when it comes to the care of the residents.

Just place My Mom Here. I'm starting to question if that was a Good Idea . There seems to be a pattern of Not returning Calls . I had hoped the staff would get better at returning calls . In my opinion it's gotten worse . I have an email saying I'll call you this afternoon. That was two days ago. With the pandemic you cant see your loved one . I've called to speak with My Mom . Oh she is taking a nap . We will have her call you. It has been since March since I've seen My Mom. No one is doing anything to try to allow us to have any type of communication. In April we attempted to have my parents Skype. My Mom didnt do well with it . Eskaton was at least posting on Facebook they quit doing that in June . It's been since June that I've seen a picture of how she is doing. I've spoken to staff about this . Nothing has changed . This is my second review Eskaton did not reach out to me . I'm sure they will talk the good talk . The thing is it doesn't change. .
