Huge thank you to Darlene, Shelley and the staff at Summerwood Village for making our Mom's transition from her home into the Residence She is settling in fairly well so far and she is happy with her Suite, activities and her table mate who turns out to be a lovely lady that actually used to live close to where my mom grew up.

I had to make the decision on behalf of my Aunt on which lodge she needed to go to, as she was in hospital and unable to even see where she was going to go. Since I am her caretaker, I wanted her to be closer to me, so I could support her better, and she was languishing in the lodge she chose for herself 6 months earlier. I checked the google reviews, I asked on social media, I wanted to be sure as possible, she would be happy. Part of the reason I chose Summerwood, was because they have a memory care unit, and I was SURE she would need to move into it within months, since she was declining so rapidly with her dementia. She has been at Summerwood for about a month now. My heart is bursting, and so is hers with HOW HAPPY SHE IS. I haven't seen her truly joyful in years. I keep telling everyone she is aging in reverse now. Her memory is SHARPER, she is HAPPIER, she is participating in EVERYTHING, whereas she was just sitting in her room in the old place and I was watching her fade. The staff listen. When I email, they respond. They make her feel comfortable and cared for. She loves the staff and is making friends. She tells me all the time she is exhausted because she is filling her days with activities. She tells me her body is sore sometimes, but it is a "good sore" because she had fun. Yesterday they had a birthday party/halloween costume contest. She wanted to wear a costume and go, so I went along to help her get dressed, and I went to the party with her. They had music and dancing, and she told me she was sad that she can't dance anymore because she has a walker. I told her we could try to dance, and I would hold her up. Well, apparently she dances better than she walks, because she dragged me out to the dancefloor 5 times! Again, this lady is aging in reverse. She cried after because she was so happy and she thought her dancing days were over. She called me last night to tell me how she had the best day, and she loves her new home and she is so glad to be there. For the first time in years I am not stressed out about how she is doing. By the way, they haven't announced it yet, but I am pretty sure she won the halloween contest. She dressed up as the Stanley Cup!

I just want to say what a wonderful, caring, amazing and extraordinary Dianna is as a receptionist, as a person, as a co-worker. Her kindness and customer service is one of the best i've ever seen. I had the pleasure and blessing to work with her and i hope she continues to work at Summerwood making residents feel like home and families happy.

Our Dad has been happy at Summerwood. He has dementia and there are a couple of gems on staff who make an extra effort to support him and care for him. A big thanks to Shelley!

Summerwood is an amazing, caring facility. They immediately made my mom feel welcome and formed true connections with her throughout her stay. Shelley, Sharon and the rest of the staff are all rockstars who truly care about their residents. During Covid they did everything they could to ensure as safe an environment as possible and kept us up to date. Summerwood was a blessing for my family and would recommend anyone with a loved one who needs some daily living assistance to make them your first call!!!!

My Father was able to spend just over a year in this beautiful facility. The staff here are incredible. I was able to watch them through the ups and downs of the past year work tirelessly to ensure the safety of my father. The countless nurses, management and staff deserve all the praise I am able to give for enduring what has been an incredibly difficult journey! Thanks again for all you did for Dad. We won't forget it!

My mother began living in assisted living at Summerwood Village before Covid-19. We are happy having her live so close to us. John and all the staff are always professional and very helpful. They are constantly trying to accommodate our requests and they genuinely care about my mom there. The staff handled the Covid crisis professionally and I felt that my mom was in safe hands. I'd highly recommend Summerwood.

My mom has been at Summerwood Village since Sept 2019 and she loves it there. The accommodations are well suited for her, with a lovely balcony so she can have her garden pots full of flowers in the summer. The units are comfortable and well maintained. There are lots of social activities available for her to choose from daily and the dining room always has a variety of choices for meals that she can enjoy in her room or in the dining room. The staff are very kind and caring. The nursing staff very professional. I feel very comfortable with the level of care my mom is receiving and have tremendous peace of mind knowing she is in a great place.

I cannot praise this facility enough! The staff are some of the kindest, most caring people I have ever met. It's gives me great comfort to know that my sweet aunt has a 'family' there. I absolutely love hearing about the daily activities the residents participate in. They are fun and engaging, helping keep everyone content and stimulated. Nothing warms my heart more than seeing the pictures on Facebook of the residents who you can just tell, are genuinely happy. Thank you Summerwood, for providing these beautiful people with more than a just a place to live. Thank you for being a place for them to call home

I worked with Summerwood Village Retirement Residence recently doing a workshop with them making floral arrangements. All the management and staff were very friendly and helpful. Shelley was especially involved with the setup and organization of the workshop. All the participants looked so happy and it was such a wonderful experience.

Our mother has received kind, consistent care even through the most trying of times. Our family members (before Covid) visited at all times and there were always activities, friendly staff and wonderful food when we would join mom. Everything from paint nights to movies to the in-house salon made this transition much easier for my mom.

Nice facility. Majority of staff are friendly and kind to residents. Improvements need to be made with regards to the outside visiting area during these months of Covid. I would like to see more protection from the elements for our elderly. It is hard for 90+ yr olds to enjoy a visit with their family when it is cool, damp and windy. The elderly catch chills very easy. Maybe some kind of tarp protection from the wind and a nice tall patio heater to take the chill off on cool days. When you only can visit once every week or two no matter the weather you want to keep your 30 minute appointment. Also, communication could be improved between director and families; as in director acknowledging email questions and inquiries.
