Lovely picnic ...creative menu, wildflower seed card gift, music and senior Staff serving huge lunch to residents and visitors. Much appreciated. Suggest a smaller crust free sandwich with veggies, pasta and watermelon. Smaller mocktail.....heavy glass for stroke people.

My Dad has been at Selkirk for 5 months now and has settled in. The team are very caring and kind. We enjoy taking Dad down to the rec room for church on Sundays. My only comment would be to have the music playing for the residents at dinner time and all the time so it feels more like a restaurant and a home. Thanks to the 5th floor team and all the staff.

My mom loves living at Selkirk’s! She started in the assisted living side and eventually moved over to the extended care side. The facilities are amazing but it is the staff that really makes the place special!

My mother has been a resident at Selkirk for over a year and we are so grateful for the care she has received. We just had a care team meeting, led by her head nurse, Mico, and we are so appreciative of his careful monitoring and care. While dealing with the heartbreak of dementia, we are so grateful that his attention and suggestions (with regard to medications) have helped improve her quality of life, decreased her anxiety and allowed us to share more moments of connection and recognition. These are truly treasured moments. Coming from the US, I am especially impressed that she has had the same staff, who truly know and love her, as opposed to the high turnover I witness in the care homes in Colorado. Special thanks to Mico, Anita, Linh, Gretyl and Davina for their gentle and consistent care and consideration.

My father has been a resident at Selkirk for 9 months now and says he’s very happy there. The staff are amazing, the food is good, and the activities are plentiful. My Dad especially loved attending a performance by a 3 piece cello ensemble, accompanied by nibblies and bubbly drinks. It was a joy to sit with him and see how much he enjoyed the music. We look forward to many more events like this.

What an amazing, wonderful Mother's day Tea! Beautifully set, cards and gifts, wonderful tasty spread of scones, cucumber sandwiches, salmon croissants, mini quiches, yummy whipped butter and jams... Teas of course, and a wonderful decadent strawberry short cake for dessert. All served by wonderfully kind and attentive staff and volunteers. So Memorable for my Mum. Thanks so much.

My parents are in both areas of Selkirk (AR, LT) since April and have done well to adjust to life in a care home with very supportive, caring staff to them and to us. My parents have shared the meals are excellent too! One area that is need of improvement is the inclusion of background music during meal times to feel more like a restaurant than an institutional dining hall. "Music is highly important at mealtimes in care homes. Research indicates that playing soothing, familiar music can significantly reduce physical and verbal agitation, decrease mealtime resistance, and even increase caloric and nutritional intake for older adults" . I'm hoping that background music will be included to make the dining experience more enjoyable.

Linda has been treated with kindness, dignity, and excellent professional care in Long‘Term Care. And I have been warmly supported in Assisted Living. Had Easter lunch with my sister. It was held on the main floor. We received an amazing three course meal. The staff went all out to make everyone feel welcome. Plus much to my delight I received a lovely potted plant. My sister often remarks on how happy she is here. Welcoming, friendly and clean.

My mom has been living at Selkirk Seniors Village for almost a year now. After being offered a room in an emergency situation, she was welcomed and assessed promptly and with care. It’s been a steep learning curve for both of us with a dementia diagnosis but the staff have been very helpful. My only complaint would be that the food is very institutional and could use some improvement. Thank you 7th floor nurses, care aides and cleaning staff! And to Sheena, the resident social worker!

My mom has been here almost 6 months. I absolutely love the staff. They are absolutely amazing!!So kind patient and loving. Really spend time with her and others. Keeps me updated on all her care and needs. Take the time to reassure me when having a hard day. They take the time when mom is having a hard time and help her work it out. Thank you soo much!! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the food is bland !! Not that great! But the staff make up for it. I would highly recommend coming here.

This place is awesome! The staff adhere to the highest standard of care and they go the extra mile for their residents! This facility has fantastic programming including Recreation Therapy, Rehabilitation Services, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy all on site! There is even a hairdresser and a salon, so residents can not only access foot care nurses but they can also have a spa day without leaving the building. Performances and special events on the recreation calendar are fun and inclusive for everyone! The care staff are amazing! The nurses are professional, knowledgeable, and available to answer questions from family members. Family are encouraged to join in for recreation activities and residents are busy with active games, crafts, baking, and intergenerational visits from students of a nearby school. The staff answer questions in a helpful and thorough manner. This place is one of the best I have seen in our area for complex care for our valued seniors. The assisted living program is excellent as well. I would highly recommend this facility and their caring, compassionate staff to my friends and loved ones. Well done! ‘

My mom has been living at Selkirk Seniors Village for almost 2 years now and I'm very happy with the way that she is being cared for there. All of the staff that I've encountered there have been very kind and helpful. They have a great recreation program for the residents and Kami goes above and beyond to ensure that folks are included. Recently she organized a Family and Friends event which was well attended and a lot of fun! I also love how much they bring in live music for the residents. They also host meetings every couple of months for family members so that we can hear directly from the General Manager and other family members who are always happy to help us navigate our way through and hear any grievances. Overall I have peace of mind that my mom is well cared for at Selkirk Seniors Village.

My mom has been in LTC at Selkirk for a year and half. I am so grateful for the amazing staff there, especially the Recreation team that get my mom doing so many great activities. Kami is incredible and so caring with my mom who has Alzheimer’s. She’ll also send me photos to keep me up to date. I love the weekly live music that they bring in. Thanks to the team there!

Excellent. Over one year and our mother & family continue to be impressed by The Selkirk. We’ve found it to be very safe, spotlessly clean and its entire team from management, maintenance, nursing staff, recreation, and rehab to be remarkably reachable and responsive. Location, variety of activities & outings are great too. GM Barry, the Directors of Care, amazing Socialworker Sheena, on-site OT Anna, Rec Manager Brian and the dedicated care/ rehab/ recreation aides all clearly love their jobs and we're the beneficiaries.

We were very lucky to receive a quick emergency placement on their 6th floor for patients with dementia after my wife's health deteriorated at a different long term care facility. The Selkirk staff professionally and efficiently addressed her failing health, reduced her medications, and, most importantly, helped her smile again. With confidence our family then elected Selkirk Seniors as our 'preferred facility' so they could continue providing quality care for my wife's remaining time. The facility is well maintained, very clean, and properly secured for the residents' comfort and safety. Extra care services available from external contractors, like dental hygienists and foot care specialists, were professionally delivered and reasonably priced. Meals were a highlight for my wife's daily routine which appeared properly balanced and reasonably vaired to keep up her appetite. Her other favourite pastime was to sit by the large windows and look out on the Gorge Waterway's beautiful view and its Selkirk Trestle Bridge. Thank you Selkirk Seniors Village Team. You provided expert care with compassion to my beloved wife and ensured her last year was peaceful and relatively content before her death due to advanced Alzheimer's Disease. You made my wife's life, my life, and my family's life so much better, and we remain in your debt."

My mom lived at Selkirk for two years, initially in Assisted Living, then Long-term care. The fact that the facility offers both was very helpful when it became clear that she needed a higher level of care as they were able to make the transition as easy as possible. When searching for care homes, we were initially wary of Selkirk due to past issues which have been documented. But all of that happened a while ago, and things seem to be much improved now. We never had any serious concerns about the staff or management. Overall we were satisfied with the facility and the care she received.

First off, I have never written a review before so bear with me if I’m doing this wrong. I was compelled to write this because of how very uniquely wonderful Selkirk Place is. My father has been there for around 2 years now and I have visited him from Calgary a bunch of times. I find the facility extremely clean and the staff to be very friendly and caring. My father is well taken care of and it really helps put my mind at ease. I thank each and every member of this organization and must say that if you have a family member that ends up in this place - rest assured, they're in good hands! Sam
