Gina and her terrific team were such a blessing to my mother. Mom came in after a fall and a stint at rehab and Gina not only helped me coordinate her PT and wound care during a very stressful Covid time, but actually took my mom to appointments when I was working. The caregivers were VERY kind and attentive! I cannot imagine how difficult her final year would have been without Elsie’s Place! My heartfelt gratitude goes out to Gina and her team of caregivers that provided so much support to our family!

Hi! A previous review was posted by a "Dianne G.". She is my sister. I can provide a slightly different perspective on Elsie's Place. I live in the Raleigh area, but Mom was living in Seattle when she needed additional care in 2013. We moved her into elder-care "facilities" (the big, institutional places) in the Seattle area. As her dementia progressed, as is typical, she moved from assisted living in one 5-star place to a skilled-nursing type facility in another. Then we moved her to the Raleigh area, where she entered memory-care in a high-rated facility. Despite the great reputations (and high monthly costs) of the institutional environments she was never really happy in any of these places. (This is an understatement.) Finally, we found Elsie's place and moved her there in late 2015. From the first day she moved in until she passed away in 2018 while in Hospice at Elsie's, Mom loved it. She loved the people, the surroundings and the atmosphere. She loved the cozy environment, where her bedroom was close to the living area, where TVs were often on. (In the institutions, residents would be wheeled between their bedrooms, waiting areas, and eating areas according to a fixed daily schedule; Mom hated this forced discipline.) She also loved the home-cooked meals at Elsie's place, where the food tasted like real food. (If you have eaten super-bland institutional meals, you might know what I mean.) Mom always looked forward to meal-time--and how she loved ice cream! As her son, I loved the peace-of-mind I felt knowing that she was always very close to caregivers. Painful flashback: When she was in the institutionalized memory-care unit near Raleigh, she slipped and fell one night trying to get to the bathroom. I spent the next few hours with her in the Emergency Department. Fortunately, she didn't break any bones and her black-and-blue eye eventually completely healed, but we knew it was time for her to try a different approach. We moved her to Elsie's Place soon thereafter. I highly recommend Elsie's Place! The photos below are some happy memories of Mom. Dianne and I will always be grateful for the love you showed Mom, and Elsie's Place will always have a special place in our hearts.

It is very difficult to put into words, my appreciation and gratitude to Gina and her staff at Elsie’s Place. During my mothers final years, she lived there, and for the first time, I had peace, knowing not only was she being well taken care of, but loved immensely. Such a warm loving environment. My mother deserved the very best and she got it for sure at Elsies place. There would be days that I would go to see her, and she would be in her bedroom. The staff would not know that I was there, and I could hear them speaking so kindly to her, telling her how much they love her. I went through a very difficult journey, finding a place for my mother that would offer her the care and compassion that she deserved. I never found it until we met Gina and moved her into Elsie’s Place. When my mother passed, the entire staff cried with me and let me know their lives were forever changed by her, and she will be a part of them forever. I am happy to speak to anyone who is considering Elsie’s place for their loved one. I thank God that we found Elsie’s Place, and that my mother was at peace finally.

We met Gina while my sister was in the hospital. She had received a referral from Cooke Care so she came over to visit. After that my sister became member of the Elsie’s family. Upon arriving there, my sister and I were greeted with warm hugs, you could feel the love. Most of the ladies who work there have been with Gina for a very long time and know how to care for their residents. I think it is a real plus that Gina is a physical therapist and knows the importance of keeping her residents as mobile as possible. She is also tenacious at facilitating care among the various disciplines necessary for optimal health. If you are considering a care facility that feels like home, this is it! As I heard from the ladies who work there, Gina has a big heart!

We put our mom and Elsie's place for several years where she received tender loving kindness in a home with bright sunlight and love and good food. Gina went out of her way to stay with my mom when she ended up at the hospital and stayed with her all night. Until one of us could come and get her. It was one of the few places that would treat her with dignity when nobody else would take her. I will forever be grateful to the nice Folks at Elsie's place for taking care of our mom and her final years.

Can't say enough good about Elsie's Place. Wonderful owner & staff. Our mother was truly happy there. At the start, we brought her in with the hope of eliminating PRN meds for mood and pain that we thought were unnecessary. A trial proved us correct; the gentle care and calm environment kept her comfortable with very limited meds. And there is so much love in this home. Our mother was treated with the respect and compassion she deserved during her final months. What a joy to have found Elsie's. Hindsight, this should have been her care home from the start.
