Not good care . Leaving my aunt in her wheelchair and soiled depends . Called for help, walked out to see staff sitting and scrolling through their phone and said “ I will help when I’m don’t here” . That was 8 minutes ago.. still waiting . Unacceptable for $9000 a month .

My father stayed at Brooking Park after being released from St. Lukes Hospital where he stayed for 10 days for rehabilitation as I thought he could receive the therapy he needed. However, I don't know the extent of the therapy he received. I would visit him every evening as I knew that he would need to be showered (2 showers per week), changed and fed. On one occasion they claimed he had a high blood pressure reading for which the doctor ordered he would need a saline drip for which the nurses had difficulty administering, resulting in an emergency room visit via ambulance trip back to St. Lukes. When admitted to the hospital, the er doctors questioned the reason why he was rushed over stating that his blood pressure and blood work was normal, requesting Brooking Park to send over their documentation which was misread by their doctor on staff, according to the St. Lukes er doctors. I questioned this when my father was sent back to Brooking Park and they didn't seem to have an answer for my family. I have since asked them to pay for the unnecessary ambulance emergency room visit to St. Lukes for which they have ignored. I would seriously reconsider sending my loved one to Brooking Park for rehabilitation, unless you spend time with them each day during staffing and evening hours.

My father spent 19 days at Brooking after an emergency surgery and being very unhappy at another facility. Our family was there every single day, twice a day, morning and evening. Here is what we saw: While my father was never going to be truly happy any place that wasn't home, they did a substantially better job with him than the previous facility. He liked his therapists and often talked about how nice the staff was. He did not like the food, but he was on something called a "mechanical soft diet" (for dysphagia) and the ground up food does look unappetizing (and is often unidentifiable). It was a necessary evil that he alternately accepted and complained about, depending on the day. He did love breakfast, the ice cream, and developed a huge addiction to both apple juice and chocolate milk. There were repeated cases of Covid in his ward (this is inevitable in such places), so mask up if you are worried. We saw no bugs. He went in with a lot of pre-existing body pain, so he slept in the recliner and not the bed. The staff was always friendly and polite to us, and tried hard to answer any questions we had.

I stayed at Brooking Park Rehab for 2 1/2 weeks after a terrible accident and major surgery. I cannot rave enough about the support and service I received by everyone including the administrators, therapists, technicians and even the cleaning staff. They were responsive, extremely competent, always friendly and always trying to be helpful. The food was also very good. I do not hesitate to recommend Brooking Park to anyone who needs Rehab support.

Brooking Park was just what my husband needed after a very long hospital stay. They were welcoming, patient, caring and very encouraging. I was somewhat surprised by its cleanliness based on what I had heard about skilled nursing. The therapy he received was also excellent and got him to the point where he could go to the next level of therapy. We thank Brooking Park for the excellent care he received and we will be forever be grateful.

In looking at the published reviews I noticed that the most current one I found is dated in 2022. Our experience with the skilled nursing facility within Brooking Park differs from these outdated published reviews. Our mom was there in the skilled nursing department from December, 2023 until her death in February 2024. If you are ok with the list of things we and our mom observed for her short stay before her passing, then yes, this is the place for your loved one. If not, please do your due diligence when researching skilled nursing care for your loved one. If you notice when reading the reviews for Brooking Park you will see that yes, many are very satisfied with the rehab center, but when considering skilled nursing care, please ask yourself if this would be acceptable for your loved one: - OK for your loved one to sit in urine until not only their undergarment and pants are soaked, but sitting for countless hours until even your loved ones' shirt is saturated. - OK for your loved one to be cared for by techs or aids that wreak of marijuana -OK for your loved one to be "cared for" by people that don't wear a name badge identifying themself and their position. How would you know if this person should be in your loved ones' room. - OK for your loved one to have to be relocated due to a flooded room from a broken toilet and to be returned to their room that is a complete shambles due to the flood in their room and having your loved placed back in their recliner in their room in the dark without access to their call button because no one thought to place it within their reach - OK for your loved one to share a room with ants and 2 roaches - OK for your loved one who is unable to walk without the assistance of others to be seated on the edge of their bed and left to feed themself rather than helping them to the safety of their recliner - OK that while BP claims to be fully staffed, that claim is based on Federal guidelines that allows that claim even though most of the "care providers", techs and aids are temporary employees not affiliated with BP so that there is no continuity of care - OK for your loved one to be asked "what do you need now?" - OK that the common area designed for use by family members when they visit and may like to share a meal with their loved one is filthy because that is where employees choose to eat instead of using their employee lounge. The microwave is complete filth inside and out -OK for your loved one to consistently be promised by the "care providers" that they will be "right back" and they never see them again -OK for you not to receive a call back after two days from the Executive Director, [name removed], regarding the lack of care our mom received on Christmas day as she sat in urine and feces until I showed up around 11:30am and cleaned her up myself as she sat teetering on the side of her bed with a cold tray of ice cold breakfast food that was not hers but was intended for the man across the hall I realize that skilled nursing care is probably pretty much sub-standard in many facilities but just don't be fooled by what you are told and what you observe as you enter any facility. Ask a lot of questions of the loved ones of residents wherever you are considering as they will hopefully give you a more accurate and honest description of the care provided. Do your research early while you have time instead of waiting until it becomes an urgent decision on where to place your loved one. We were forced to make a really fast decision as our mom went straight from the hospital to skilled nursing, so while we did our best to visit a couple places we were forced to make a really quick decision. Speaking from experience, just try to do your due diligence, ask a lot of probing questions, and just be the best advocate for your loved one that you can be.

My husband was at Brooking Park unexpectedly after total knee surgery. From the first moment we were there everyone was kind, caring, empathetic, and concerned for his well being. He was greeted with "welcome to Brooking Park " by all. Nursing care staff, physical, and occupational therapy staff were all spot on with their care. We would definitely return if ever needed again and would refer to others. When the home therapist came to evaluate my husband, he stated he was way ahead in his recovery and was very pleased with the progress. We feel the care from everyone at Brooking Park was the reason.

Here is a wonderful review from one of our current residents. "Wanda was a bright spot at Brooking Place. She always had a smile on her face and worked very hard to assure my Mom felt comfortable in her stay. We always saw her working hard so we are sure does this to everyone. All reviews are posted in a binder and located at Brooking Park reception.

GREAT PLACE. My grandpa was there in nov-dec of 2022 and they did so well with him, I sent my father in law there a couple weeks ago and the rehab part is so amazing and the staff is so caring, I will definitely be sending anyone there that needs the rehab. They do so well and got both of my family members back moving again. They were both happy with this place and I highly recommend it. AND UPDATE: THEY ARE SOOOOOO GREAT WITH HAVING CALLED 2 TIMES TO CHECK IN ON MY FATHER IN LAW TO SEE HOW HE WAS SINCE LEAVING....... WILL ALWAYS USE THIS PLACE FROM HERE ON OUT!!!!!!!! MAKAYLA ( IF I SPELLED THAT RIGHT) IS SOOOOO AMAZING AND CARING.

We have had our parents at Brooking Park for the past 2 years. They have been in rehab, skilled nursing, and assisted living areas. When dad passed away we were compassionately cared for by everyone there. Brooking Park is a beautiful and exceptional facility with a caring staff! As an example, during the recent snow storm, staff spent the night so that the residents would be well cared for without interruption. Our mother does not see well, and we fill out menus for her weekly. The kitchen accommodates our detailed requests and delivers her meals with a kind, friendly and positive attitude. She is checked on regularly during the day and her medications are carefully managed by her nurses. The staff does an exceptional job with housekeeping, both in her room and in the common areas. The facility is very well maintained. We enjoy the lovely outdoor areas so much as well as the common sitting areas. We have been so pleased with Brooking Park and highly recommend it!
September 2022
Our aunt has been at Brooking Park for over two years, and we have been so pleaSED WITH THE CARE SHE HAS RECEIVED. She has been very happy with all the staff, and we are grateful for all they have done to improve the quality of her life and for the communication we receive. Everyone is so accessible and keeps us informed on all aspects of her care. It is a great comfort to us that she is so comfortable in her surroundings and that we are constantly provided with information regarding her well-being and care.
July 2022
I had my mom at two other facilities before Brooking Park and I can say the service in Skilled Nursing and Memory Care is the best! It is not just their knowledge, it is the caring they show your family member.
May 2022
Brooking Park made an incredible difference regarding my husband. The nurses, physical and occupational therapists worked with dedication and kindness to get him back on his feet. The meals were delicious, and he went from eating very little to enjoying meals 3 times a day. In house rehabilitation can be a scary thought but Brooking Park’s team and qualified staff, and nursing truly was so rewarding. If there is a need for your friends or family, I highly recommend Brooking Park to give the loving care to those in need.

My Dad was initially admitted to Brooking Park for rehab and while there our family decided to move my Mother to Brooking Park from another facility. We recognized the need to elevate their level of care and Brooking Park was able to accommodate them both which aligned with our major priority of keeping them together for as long as possible. Shortly after the move, Brooking Park graciously hosted a dinner for our parents 70th wedding anniversary. Moves are always challenging, and to a greater degree in the environment of the pandemic. Brooking Park worked hard to help our parents and family to adjust. I find the staff to be pleasant and responsive. Our family is very hands on and overall we are pleased with our decision to move our parents to Brooking Park. More over, we know our parents are safe, well cared for, and enjoy activities, the beautiful courtyard garden, and are receiving excellent care. Thank you to all of the staff from our family, The Smiths. Response from the ownera year ag

Brooking Park has been a great place for our Mom and Dad for five years so far. The staff is so friendly and very skilled; and the employees care about the residents. The Dining Services are excellent, and they cater to individual needs and wants. The Activities program always has fun and engaging things to do; and we love being outside in the Courtyards. BRAVO!
March 2021
Had to give them something cause my Dad did come out alive. But no communication. No call backs from case workers. Sent my dad home alone knowing he could not take care of himself. They said they ordered a nurse ,rehab, and social work . Two days later nothing so we called and have yet to get a call back. I thought this had been updated. The owner /operator called and made everything right he went out of his way. I really believe he will correct the communication issues.
December 2020
Caring staff, beautiful clean facility, excellent therapy department, delicious food, and faith based.
July 2020
We moved our terminally ill mother from the Springfield area to Brooking Park in order for to spend her final days close to us. The care she received in the skilled nursing section was was thoughtful, compassionate and responsive not only to her needs but ours as well. The spiritual support she received from Pastor Jake could not have been more meaningful. Every staff member who cared for her provided such comfort and care. We are indeed grateful to all at BP who helped her (and us) through this difficult transition. Thank you.
July 2020
Our experience was before the current pandemic. Employees at that time were very caring and treated us like family. We would highly recommend Brooking Park if you should need a rehab facility.
July 2020
My family and myself highly recommend Brooking Park. My father spent time on both the acute rehab side and the skilled nursing facility. Both experiences were excellent. The facility and rooms are beautiful, bright, comfortable and welcoming. The staff was helpful, attentive, kind and advocated for my fathers needs to be met. The food is delicious and the dining halls are just lovely. They go the extra mile to make the facility feel like home. They even have a yummy bakery that is open every day for homemade sweet treats. The therapy that my father received while on both sides was excellent. They helped him get strong enough to be able to return home. The staff worked with us and kept us informed and provided excellent care. While it was not easy to have my father in a nursing home, this is definitely the next best place other than home. We highly recommend it...
June 2020
I stayed over 2 months at Brooking Park for rehabilitation following a hip fracture. I can honestly say the professional staff exceeded my expectations. This includes the therapists, administration and care providers. The food was appetizing with a good variety. I would highly recommend BP for their rehab program. While the majority of aides were helpful, it is obvious that BP is short staffed in this area. Thanks to all of them for taking such good care of me!!
March 2020
I was referred to Brooking Park and told it was the best skilled nursing facility in St. Louis. Im so glad I listened. The care was just wonderful we received.
March 2020
My best friends mother lives at Brooking Park in their Assisted Living. I often assist with checking in on her and each time I visit, she always appears so happy and full of life. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The nursing staff genuinely care for the people that reside in the AL. I dont know much about the other areas of the building but I can only imagine the care is just as excellent. The building is always very clean. I would highly recommend the Assisted Living at Brooking Park if your loved one is in need.
February 2020
It is such a hard decision when you are looking for a place that your parent will spend their last few days in. I could not be happier that I took my mother to Brooking Park. The staff treated my mother like she was family. I know that I was probably a tough customer and no one ever feels like their loved one is getting enough attention or care, but the men and women at Brooking park did their best to make sure my mother was comfortable and I was too. I would highly recommend Brooking park to anyone who has to make the tough decision I did. Thank you to the nurses who made sure my mother wasnt in pain, the housekeepers who made sure the room was clean, the cooks that delivered delicious food to our room and the chaplain who was there when we needed a shoulder to cry on. God bless you for what you do staff of Brooking Park.
October 2019
We were extremely happy with the care our mother received at Brooking Park. The entire staff from the time we walked through the doors were always friendly and helpful. Further, it seemed like everyone we talked to knew Moms name and had a nice story about her. In other words, the folks at Brooking Park took the time to personally know our mother.e would recommend Brooking Park to anyone.
August 2019
Making a decision on the best possible health care facility for a loved one can be extremely challenging and emotionally draining. Our choice on Brooking Park ended up being THE best for my husband. The admin staff was attentive and helpful; the techs were extremely accommodating and the therapists helped tremendously. My husband now needs more rehab so BP was HIS first choice. He knows the team helped him before with loving care so this time, the stress is so much less for all of us. Thank you BP team!
April 2019
Brooking Park took wonderful care of my grandfather! The staff went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable and had everything he needed. On top of the excellent care they provided, they also took time to get to know him on a personal level, which I know he really appreciated. I cant say enough good things about Brooking Park!
March 2019
My Mother recently stayed at Brooking Park and I must say, I could not have been happier with my mothers care. Even though the building is under a renovation, the staff went out of their way to make Mom comfortable. My mothers treatments and the care provided was top notch. I appreciated and noticed that upper management was often in the halls and asked if we had what we needed and seemed to genuinely care. I would not hesitate to bring a loved one back to Brooking Park. Kudos to the team.
September 2018
Brooking Park was absolutely amazing when my mother rehabbed after a car accident. The staff, amenities, and facility is welcoming! I have referred others to Brooking Park as well as know individuals that are there for an extended stay and are very happy with their decision.Brooking Park is an asset to our community!
June 2018
Avalon Unit, Do not try to talk with a nurse during the evening. Tried several times. My conversation with the nurse was interrupted several time because the nurse had to go give a patient a pill. could not have a full conversation. Since it looked like they needed more staff I had my daughter who is a nurse apply for a job there, only to find out they are the least paid in the area. They do a great job but I think they may need a Union or something. They are not being treated or paid what they are worth. But they do try, which is more than I can say for other facilities
May 2018
Hands down the best place for mom, we visited three places and Mike the sales person was excellent and very honest. He was spot on after three months of living there, it has been wonderful. Mom says the food is excellent and the staff is always helpful and smiling.I would recommend this facility
May 2018
When my Dad was at Brooking Park for rehab, he felt very well cared-for. He felt that everyone from the nurses, to the porters, to the custodial staff and even to the man (doctor?) who came in to trim his toenails, food service folks--everyone treated him like royalty. (The fact that he referred to himself as Sir William probably helped!) So thank you, Brooking Park, for taking such good care of my father.
January 2018
A friend went through rehab. The staff and facility was amazing! Highly recommend Brooking Park!
January 2018
Thank you for making my stay very comfortable surrounded by pleasant residents and capable staff. Truly a home away from home!

My mom lives at Brooking Park. We could not be happier with our decision to bring her here. We love the food and the care, but especially the food. The place is clean and the staff are friendly. I recommend it to anyone desiring 5-star care for their loved ones.

Needing an unexpected placement for my aunt, I had never heard of Brooking Park. From admission until her passing, the family has been very satisfied with the care she received from the staff. They were very responsive. Now I would recommend Brooking Park.
