My dad was in another facility ( will not mention) due to certain circumstances after hospital visit was not allowed to return. !This was at 5pm in the eventing Avalon (Marquita and the staff ) not only stepped up to the plate but they turned it around in a matter of hours!!!! They worked after hours to make this happen and welcomed my dad with open arms and have continued to be a blessing to him and my family I highly recommend Avalon . They are now a part of my family !

Avalon Memory Care was an amazing experience for our mother. From the very beginning the staff was attentive and caring. They genuinely cared for and about her. The kitchen staff made really good smelling food. The facility was clean and comfortable. We were very pleased every time we went to visit.

Our Mom who was afflicted with dementia was in the care of Avalon Memory Care in Edinburg for a year. In that year she received excellent care from the entire staff. Not only did they exhibit professionalism,but more importantly a genuine love and compassion for the residents.

My husband has Parkinson's and dementia. At Avalon, I feel that his needs are a priority for the staff. The facility is run in a professional manner and staff, both day & night, are kind, compassionate and well trained. They have experience working with people with memory loss and, since the facility is small, (maximum 26), staff gets to know each resident as an individual. The on site manager is an RN and works closely with hospice companies, health care professionals, and follows state guidelines for elder care. The building itself is up-scale with lovely furnishings and the living room has comfortable recliner's for residents. The food is cook daily by the chefs and enjoyed by residents. The rooms are large, TV included, and each room has a state of the art bathroom. The cost for me personally is less than at another facility where he was before. I would highly recommend this facility for your loved-one.

What can I say? A lot! Avalon Memory care is where you should place your loved one. The staff are professional and full of grace. We placed our mother there in less than a week. Very quick and expertly designed to help you make a transition in crisis. It is beautiful, warm, caring and interactive. The house heads of staff are personal and made us feel welcome and supportive of the decision to place our mother with them. I believe I heard my mother laugh for the first time in years after only 4 days at Avalon. She is being cared for in a way that understands Alzheimers and gives her the quality of life she deserves. I highly recommend Avalon Memory Care, its a gift to our family!

Our family was in crisis. My mother had just passed who was my fathers care taker and both myself and my brother live out of state. My father did not want to come up north with me. He also wanted to live on his own but the dementia would not allow that. From the first call to Michelle who provided us with education and support to the transition to Avalon with Rita and Maurice, the transition could not have been more compassionate, empathetic and positive.

Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure my Mom is well cared for. The owners, Maurice and Rita McDonald, are hands on, and respond immediately to any requests or concerns. The staff is super caring, friendly, and competent. Since my Moms Alzheimers has advanced to a point of needing full assistance with her personal care, it is such a relief to see her so well groomed. Her room is always perfect, and the food smells delicious. It has been a pleasure having everyone at Avalon become a part of our lives.

Unbelievable place! When you walk in the door you instantly get the feeling that this is a first class operation. No corners were cut when this place was designed. The kitchen, big and open, is the focus of the facility. Makes you feel like you are home. My brother-in-law is in the new Edinburg Avalon facility. I was very impressed, not only by the facility itself, but also by the care and concern of the staff members I met.Watching Carmen, one of the staff members, interact with my brother-in-law, I could tell she has a heart for her work. Its not just a job; its a calling. Carmen treated him with respect and dignity, as well as with a bit of humor. Talking privately with her, I could tell she really cares about her patientsAlthough my brother-in-law hasnt been there long, I feel confident that you and your staff will do whatever you need to do to help him adjust to this new environment. Although hes in a strange, new place (for him), I know youre working to help him feel at home. I even saw a video of him and one of the staff members dancing. I just need to thank Maurice, Rita and the entire staff at Avalon for the extraordinary care my dad has received. Having my dad in memory care in Texas when I live in Minnesota was a very scary proposition but they have all gone so above and beyond all of my expectaions that my mind is totally at ease. The family style setting is ideal for him, and even with dementia he has never had anything but kind words for the staff. (And the facility is beautiful!) Thank you so much Maurice and everyone!

I wanted to find the right place for my father that made not only him but our family feel like home . After learning about Avalon I found out that this is the perfect place that my father can have the best life. The philosophy that comes with Avalon is a 5 star place . Choosing Avalon enabled me to give my father the best life ever to enjoy things he loves . It makes me feel good that my dad can still do all the things he loves todo and live in a place he can call home !

After touring this facility, I have to say I was impressed. The beautifully maintained spaces made it feel as it was a place that could truly be home, and the cutting edge technology made it feel as though it was a place that could truly take care of the needs of a person suffering from a debilitating disease. The staff truly cares about providing their patients with the best care possible in order to help them have the most fulfilling life.

I am so glad I found this wonderful place with such wonderful people to provide care for my dad. The owners and staff are such nice people who really take seriously their role in providing care for those that need it. The place is beautiful! I highly recommend Avalon to someone who is in the position I was--unable to provide high quality care for my father with dementia-Alzheimers at home.
