My brother and I looked into sending our father to Hermitage Three Chopt. We met with Karen, who really held our hand through the whole process. Having a parent with dementia is such a difficult experience, but Karen was kind, empathetic to our situation, and kept constant communication open. Unfortunately, our father wasn’t able to move into this neighborhood as he experienced an injury that required rehab. If you are looking for a place for a loved one who requires memory care, I would absolutely recommend you consider Hermitage Three Chopt.

My wife has been in memory care at Hermitage Three Chopt since before it was purchased by Pinnacle Living and became Hermitage Three Chopt. The transition has been a good and since then I have noticed a marked improvement in management and operations of the facility to include the addition of services to enrich her life as we struggle with the disease of dementia. Hermitage Three Chopt (HTC) has become home for her and I take solace knowing that she receives better care from HTC than I am able to provide for her at our home. This place is truly amazing! We moved my mom in 3 months ago. At Hermitage Three Chopt she is treated with respect and kindness. The small community model they have allows them to attend to the needs of all the residents. Moving her here was the best decision we ever made!

The decision to move a loved one into a facility is never easy. It took us over a year to know the time had come, and this past July 2025, we made the difficult decision to move my mother-in-law (MIL) from another state to Richmond, VA. My husband and I toured several places, and Hermitage Three Chopt (HTC) stood out far above the rest. The others felt like facilities; HTC felt like a true Community. The exceptional service started from our very first phone call. Instead of an automated system, we spoke with a real, caring person, Karen, who guided us through every step. When we met her in person, she took the time to answer every question thoughtfully. The community itself was clean, inviting, and filled with friendly staff. We left feeling hopeful that our MIL could truly thrive here. Unlike other places where the memory care unit feels isolated, HTC was intentionally designed for residents with memory loss. The staff choose to work in this environment, they are passionate, patient, and deeply caring. The cottages are thoughtfully laid out, and the campus is beautiful with plenty of outdoor space. Once we decided on HTC, Karen made the onboarding process seamless, always accessible, and proactive. The first couple of weeks were hard, as expected, but the staff supported both our MIL and us through every step. Now, my MIL has friends, is engaged in daily activities, and is clearly thriving. We also appreciated the 30-day review meeting with Executive Director, Shakerrie, and Director of Resident Care, Lisa. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely committed to ensuring our MIL’s well-being. That level of care and follow-up gave us tremendous peace of mind. HTC is truly A-class in every way. We are beyond grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and compassion they’ve shown. Our MIL is more engaged than she’s been in years. If you’re searching for a place in Richmond for your loved one, you will not find a better community than Hermitage Three Chopt!

Our mom resided at Hermitage Three Chopt for the last 4 years. The staff and care providers far exceeded all our expectations and provided outstanding care and compassion during her final years. It was a great comfort to our family to know that she was surrounded by a team that cared so deeply in providing her comfort during the final chapter of her life.

After an unsatisfactory experience at a different memory care where my mother's needs were barely met if not outright neglected, and after touring many, many places, I made the decision to move my mother to Hermitage Three Chopt a bit more than a month ago. I am so glad that I did. The quality of personal attention and care she receives is excellent. The facility is intimate, and all the staff are engaged with the residents in a caring, calm manner and are attentive to her needs and communicative with me. All aspects of her care are addressed: physical, social, emotional and medical, and she can have everything done onsite, from visiting dentist and podiatrist to geriatric psych and haircuts. Most of all, I feel that she always has eyes on her, people are helping her if she needs it, and I will be kept informed of how she is doing. Memory care is not an easy decision and it is certainly not an inexpensive proposition, but I am greatly relieved to know that my mother is getting the best care I could find for her in this region.

My mom has been living at Hermitage Three Chopt since August 2024 when it was Spring Arbor Cottages. We have been very happy with her transition from our home to memory care and believe that she is in the best place both socially and medically. The staff here is very loving and caring for my mom's needs and, even though my mom can't communicate easily now, the staff manages to understand and anticipate her necessities without fail. Medically the staff has managed to finally stabilize her physical and behavioral challenges in a way we were simply unable to do at home. My mom is at peace at Hermitage Three Chopt. Everyone from the nursing staff, maintenance and cleaning staff, recreation and therapy staff, and administration work together to provide an excellent second home for my mom. My family is very grateful.

I recently toured The Hermitage Three Chopt and was so impressed by the community. The direct patient care staff and leadership team stood out to me immediately ” they seemed genuinely happy to be there, which can be rare and incredibly meaningful in senior living. It was clear that their positivity and passion for what they do created a wonderful environment for the residents, who also seemed very happy and engaged. The courtyard is absolutely beautiful, offering a peaceful, welcoming space to enjoy the outdoors. After visiting, I wouldn't hesitate to trust The Hermitage Three Chopt with the care of my loved one living with dementia. It’s a truly special place.

Making the decision to move a family member into memory care is a difficult decision. I researched and visited several memory care communities for about a year before selecting Hermitage Three Chopt. Hands down the best decision I ever made for my dad. Working with Karen Parker, Executive Sales & Marketing Director, from day one of my initial visit all the way through move-in to today has been nothing short of a blessing. Karen is kind, patient and will walk you through every step of the process/transition. The transition for my dad from my home to Hermitage Three Chopt has been seamless. The community staff, from the Directors, Nurse, caretakers, receptionists, and cleaning staff are some of the kindest and caring people you will ever meet. The community is well organized, extremely clean, and the food is yummy! Dad is so happy and always busy with arts/crafts, exercise, music, or being pampered with salon services. Hermitage Three Chopt does a wonderful job including family in activities, field trips, and community meetings. I highly recommend Hermitage Three Chopt for your loved one.

My sister and I are so grateful for Hermitage Three Chopt! After my dad passed away, the thought of transitioning my mom out of her home of 51 years to a memory care facility was sad and daunting. But from the start of the process to the day we moved her in - we knew we had made the right decision. Working with Karen Parker (Executive Sales & Marketing Director) has been delightful. As well as being diligent with the paperwork process and meeting our timeline of getting Mom settled, she was also very patient and caring..and fun! Mom has acclimated so well to her new environment at Hermitage Three Chopt! The facility is clean and organized, the food is great, her room is spacious, and the staff is wonderful! Every time we go to visit mom (which is often) “ she is happy and often doing a lively activity. From music to exercise, to arts & crafts “ the staff does a great job with entertainment! Not only does Hermitage Three Chopt care about their residents, but they also care about their residents’ families by including us in holiday parties and facility meetings. Our experience has been wonderful, and we are at peace knowing that Mom is living in a joyful and loving community.
