Great morning spent at English Meadows Mother's Day Brunch. The food was delicious. The staff was gracious and accommodating. They made sure guest needs were met. Job well done!! English Meadows is a hidden jewel in Williamsburg.

In the time she has resided there, there has been 4 different Administrators & Director Nursing. This speaks volumes to the manage of the community. The Director of Nursing has repeatedly communicated falsehood to me. For example, she relayed to me that it was recommended by hospice that my mom consume Ensure. I expressed to you my displeasure at receiving a call at 9:30 a.m. on a Saturday to talk about Ensure when in essence the call could have been made after noon or on monday. After communicating with the hospice nurse a couple of days later, I learned that the DON made the suggestion for Ensure. My mom was placed under hospice care due to the continuous emails, faxes, telephone calls to her primary care doctor concerning small issues so the doctor put in place a third set of eyes after she felt that White Oaks could not adequately perform certain task in the care of the residents while only having 8-10 residents @ the time. Hospice was very surprised that my mom was put in their care as she was still very functional. About the May-June (2020) timeframe of last year, I was informed by the Director of Nursing that my mom was hoarding food in her mouth and having some difficulty swallowing. I informed me that she was going to send a request over to my mom’s Primary Care, Dr. Golikeri for a pureed diet. Since I do not have physical access to my mom I was not able to check on this until this until her recent hospital stay (2/28/21-3/10/21) . Her dentures are missing, which would definitely be a huge issue in her chewing food. No one at White Oaks had communicated to me that my mom dentures are missing to date. About five (5) months ago, I inquired to the Dir. Of Nursing about when will my mom be able to go back to light regular food. Ms. Bryant’s response was never. About five (5) months ago, I inquired to the Dir. Of Nursing about when will my mom be able to go back to light regular food. Ms. Bryant’s response was never. I have been denied on three different occasions window visits with my mom. What does that suggest. My mom is not being get up and bathed and clothed. On two occasions on holidays, there was no management on duty. The maintenance individual and CNA were in charge. My mom was admitted to the hospital on 2/28/21 after the nurse practitioner visited on 2/25/21 and left an Order for my mom’s urine to be analyzed. The Dir. of Nursing did mot accomplish this task so on Sunday, 2/28 the medical transport was employed to take my mom to the hospital for a 10 day stay. DIAGNOSIS: Severely dehydrated coupled with sepsis, a urinary tract infection along with an injured kidney issue. The communication is deplorable. I sent a text message on Friday to the Dir. Of Operations requesting her email address @ 9:00 a.m.. I received no response. I sent a second one @ 11.35 a.m. addressing the no response. Finally, I received a response stating she had appointments. It only takes 3 minutes to answer a text. I requested a copy of my mom’s discharge papers on 3/11. To date, I have yet to received. On my mom’s discharge 3/11, the Administrator did not want to let me in for a compassionate visit. I had to make several calls to gain entry. Once in, I observed & took photos of my mom’s personal hygiene items, which have been barely utilized in a year 4 big tubes of toothpaste, 4 big bottles of lotion, 3 deodorant, 6 shampoos & conditioner, face cream. These items are full and should have been exhausted over a year. The chairs in my mom’s room was stained to the point to where you cannot sit in them. They have a maintenance & cleaning individual who should have taken the cushions put and washed them down. It looks beautiful on the outside but what transpires on the inside is a different story Sent from my iPhone

Our family considers White Oak at Williamsburg to be one of our blessings on the long, dark road through dementia. Our husband/father has been a resident since September 2018. The facility is clean, the staff to patient ratio is excellent, and there is a small, more intimate atmosphere, giving the residents a home-like feeling. We have been consistently pleased with the care he has received. The staff gives personal care on a cheerful, professional, and caring basis. They have a remarkable way of sensing the needs of their patients and extend that same level of care to the patients’ families. If you are searching for care for a loved one, I assure you that you cannot find better care than the quality than they deliver here at White Oak.

I decided on White Oaks Memory Care community in Williamsburg, VA for my mom exactly one month ago (May 2019) originally for respite. Prior to thee expiration of her respite, I received a telephone call expressing how happy and well adjusted my mom was @ White Oaks and that she had communicated her desire to stay there. I obliged. As with any new community, there are going to be a few hiccups as it is a learning curve for the staff and the new resident.I find the staff to be very approachable, attentive when you have a discussion with them about your observations. The staff has great interaction with the residents. It is a very clean community. The residents seem to have a good experience there. My mom has adjusted well in the community and participates in activities with the other residents. The Marketing Director is very well versed about the community and is also attentive and engaging with the residents and the needs of resident's families. All of the staff seems to interact very well with the residents. Hopefully, this will be my mom's new home for a long, long time.

Berkeley Oaks is a devoted memory care community nestled in Williamsburg. The cottage style apartments are spacious, the secured outdoor courtyard is large and the staff are very friendly. A hidden gem worth considering for your loved one.

Berkeley Oaks was one of the many memory care options for my mother. During the decision-making process, they were very caring. The assessment of my mother went smoothly. All the staff there are very nice. I would definitely recommend them.
