My grandma is a current resident here. The difference in her care her vs her previous community is night and day. She has dementia but is still alert and very much opinionated. She's very feisty, and catty. They do such a great job at redirecting her and dealing with her in a productive way. She is always clean, outfits coordianted, room is well taken care of. Katie (DON) is so fantastic. She's a very well versed nurse and quick to catch and help treat any issues. Great communication. Kyle with activities is an angel. Went as far as setting up a private Passover lunch for my grandma and family. With authentic kosher chocolates, prayer and Matza ball soup. It was so special grandma cried. We feel so safe having her there and will always recommend.

My mother recently passed away at Certus Waterford Lakes. Taking her there was the best decision we made. They took excellent care of her. I cannot think of any better place to take someone with Dementia than to Certus Waterford Lakes. They were in constant contact with us concerning my mother and any phone message we left was quickly replied. What can one say about a facility that has given us our mother back. My mother prior to coming to Certus / Waterford was agitated, depressed, and would not eat at her previous facility and heavily medicated. Since arriving at Certus she is smiling non-stop, laughing, excited about eating, and doing activities, and is on half of the medication she was on. The staff is highly professional, engaging, and go beyond expectations. We thank God for Certus. While her dementia will never go away, we have been given much of our mother back and piece of mind that our mother is being treated with professional care and love.

We moved my mother to Certus after a bad experience at another memory care. I'm so glad we did. The staff is amazing, especially the nursing director. My mother had been resistant to showering but once we moved her here, they worked with her to make her comfortable and now, whenever I pick here up, she's clean and well groomed. It's a nice environment and we haven't seen the turnover in staff that we've seen in other places. It seems they truly like working here. We also appreciate the communication; whenever my mom needs something, they call, text or email so I can send it right over. Sending a loved one to memory care is difficult but Certus made us feel good about our decision.

The Certus at Waterford Lakes location cared for my uncle through the most difficult parts of his disease. He was nonverbal but still active when he moved into the facility. The staff cared for him like he was their family member. They learned his history as a hockey player/athlete and property developer. They talked to him about his adventures and even arranged to take him to a hockey game. They created a safe and caring environment for him. When you see the facility you will be amazed at how beautiful and clean it is. The facility was designed for memory care patients with so many special features that subtly assist memory care patients. The staff communicated with our family regularly and consistently. We are so thankful for the entire team at Waterford lakes.

This is the cleanest facility I have ever been. I have been to many facilities over the past 19 years, both in South and Central Florida, as an employee and private caregiver. I have a private case there twice per week. The staff are friendly and warm. The residents are clean and tidy, neatly dressed, with no oversized clothes. If it wasn't for the uniforms and badges, you could not tell the difference between staff and residents, except for those that are in wheelchairs. I was telling my daughter that this is the first ALF (memory care) facility I see where I could live if I was qualified. They all worked as a team, activity, kitchen, management, environmental, the DON, and her team. The staff are caring and loving, both to the residents and visitors. It is like one big happy family. When you walk in, expect to be greeted with open arms and a warm smile from the receptionist to the last person you meet. I would surely recommend Waterford Lake Certus Memory Care to anyone without any hesitation.

Certus at Waterford Lakes in Orlando is an exceptional community for those in need of memory care. Both of my parents were residents there, and my family and I could not have been more pleased with the care they received at Certus. Without exception, every single employee who you encounter at Certus shows love, compassion, and professionalism to the residents and to their families. They make the residents feel cared for and treat them like family, with dignity and respect. The environment is more like a home than an institution or a business. It’s a community of caregivers who truly care. There’s no need for me to single out a few outstanding employees, because it’s literally the entire staff! Every staff member is an expert at what they do. Upon moving in, the care team quickly got to know both of my parents and provided them with exactly the environment they needed. Unbeknownst to us, the facility my parents lived in prior to Certus was essentially neglecting them to the point of rapid decline. My mother, in particular, was suffering from malnutrition, dehydration, and medicine mismanagement. Certus quickly put her on a rigid schedule to ensure that she received precisely what she needed to thrive. She has made a remarkable turnaround since moving into Certus, so much so that she is now relocating an assisted living facility. The Certus team is excellent when it comes to communicating with the family. They let us know what’s going on and if there’s anything we need to take care of. They handle everything from medication management to coordination with visiting physicians. The environment is clean, attractive, and cheery. It’s a joy to watch the staff interact with the residents with such genuine love. I cannot praise Certus enough “ there’s no place quite like it.

I couldn’t of dreamed of a better place for my Mom. She previously was in two other care facilities in Texas and when I moved to Florida, I was nervous about what I’d find to be honest. CERTUS is absolutely the most wonderful home for her. The caretakers, nurses and staff are so attentive and loving. Every single person knows my Moms name and I just love that. Every time I am there, they have activities from singing, dancing, chair exercise, arts & crafts and more! I adore the activity leaders Kami and Kyle, who always always help my Mom do stuff when she doesn’t necessarily know what to do, they always jump in! LeeAnn at the front desk is the best, always helpful and smiling and lends her ear when some days are just hard for me navigating my Mom’s Alzheimer’s. I brought my Father to CERTUS under very challenging circumstances. Previously he was living at an assisted living facility (ALF). His dementia had increased to a point where he needed the kind of care provided by a memory care facility. Things were rough in the two months prior to moving to CERTUS. One hospital stay for severe dehydration and another for mismanagement of heart medications. On top of that evening elopement incidents were occurring on an increasingly frequent basis making it unsafe for my Father to stay at his ALF by himself. Luckily we were able to rent a furnished apartment at CERTUS to keep Dad safe while I looked for a new home. I whittled a list of about 20 memory care facilities down to 4 which included CERTUS. The other 3 candidates had both ALF and memory care apartments. These facilities had a much larger percentage of ALF units than memory care units. The memory care units looked more like hospital wards and had a small number of memory care residents. CERTUS only has memory care apartments. It is a newer facility that has a warmer, more home-like feel to it. There is quite a functional spectrum for people living with dementia. CERTUS has a much larger population of memory care residents than the other facilities I visited which I think increases the chances that residents can find compatible friends to hang out with. All of the staff I have interacted with have been kind, considerate and motivated to provide good care for residents. Lee Ann and Dre Concierge staff members are great. They are typically our first point of contact and are very helpful. They can answer most questions. They can also help out with many requests or direct you to someone that can. The activity director Kyle is excellent. My Father particularly enjoys the musical entertainers, movies and going to the restaurant and sightseeing activities they do using a shuttle bus. He really likes how nice the shuttle bus is inside and how big the windows are. My Father is resistant to doing some of the other activities, but Kyle and other staff members are good at getting him involved. I have been pleased with the nurses and med techs at CERTUS. Most of my conversations have been with Katie. She frequently solicits feedback. They try to learn as much as they can about the residents to aid their care. I have been happy with the health care providers and the Guardian pharmacy they use. The primary health care provider is Bluestone. They have worked out well. In the 9 months before arriving at CERTUS my Father went to the hospital 3 times. He has been at CERTUS for almost 16 months and has not needed to go to the hospital once. A very nice improvement. The maintenance directors have been very helpful. They helped while setting up Dad’s room when he moved in and later on when his bed frame needed to be replaced. When I ate at CERTUS I thought it was a significant improvement over the food his previous ALF served. I think they strike a good balance on what is healthy and what people in his age group are willing to eat. I pasted below the notes I took from my discussion with Daniel the executive director about CERTUS hurricane readiness. - The building is rated to handle hurricane category 4 storms. Windows can withstand a 2x4 flying at 40mph. Walls are concrete filled cinder blocks. Roof is flat which is good for hurricane winds. - A FEMA location rating of "F" is highly unlikely to be evacuated due to flooding. The CERTUS location has an "X" rating. - Natural gas backup power generators are tested regularly. Generators power everything except the in-room air conditioners. If power goes out, tenants have to keep doors open to get cool air from the halls. - 1 week of food reserves. Large water holding tanks are filled up 24 hours before a storm hits I believe CERTUS did a good job following government regulations and guidelines for masking, quantines, on-premise vaccinations, etc necessary when caring for such a high risk population.
