The staff are highly trained in dementia care. I visit a relative at this facility and what I find so comforting is I always see the same staff. I think that is so important for those with memory loss. I appreciate all you do keep up the good work!

Amazing team and wonderful staff. Incredibly compassionate and knowledgeable, walked us through every step necessary. We felt incredibly comfortable with our choice. Special note of gratitude to Sheila for her dedication and hard work

I visit a resident here and the caregivers on Harvest Glenn always do their job, the place is neat. They take good care of all the residents. Miss Rosalind who works in the morning always has a smile on her face and is very helpful!

Arden Courts is a wonderful community! I volunteered here in high school and have very positive memories of the time I spent there. Recently, they've been hosting blood drives for Children's National so I've been back to attend those, and everyone who works there is just so nice.

We are so impressed with the care at Arden Courts. Attended a blood drive recently and Sheila Kehoe was so organized and kept everything running smoothly.

Unfortunately my mother did not get to spend much time here — she passed away peacefully in her sleep a few days ago at age 94. At a very difficult time all the staff rallied around my family. I only wish we had found Arden sooner. We never had to worry the two months Mom was at Arden because we knew she was being well taken care of. She had spent two years at an assisted living facility, however when her memory got worse we had to move her. We were thrilled to find Arden because they were a perfect fit. A special shout out to Sheila the Memory Care Advisor whom I can only describe as an angel. Emmanuel the building coordinator who gave us a tour and spent a great deal of time showing us the well designed property, many many rooms, and answering questions. When Mom fell, the staff was very proactive contacting me, getting her to the ER to make sure she did not have a concussion, making sure she got back to Arden safely, and keeping the family informed. Mom always told us how nice everyone was— residents and staff. She was socialized with many fun activities as well.

Forced to seek emergency short-term respite care for my 105-year-old mother, due to my acute injury as primary caregiver, I had the good fortune to be referred to Arden Courts of Kensington. And, although we did not enter residency, I feel compelled to commend the highly organized, efficient, experienced and compassionate manner in which the Memory Unit Manager connected and processed us for admission. Starting on a Friday at close of business, striving for a Saturday late morning admission, the manager put in motion the multiple requirements, approvals, signatures, medical records to be completed, terminating with a planned Saturday morning in-person in-home intake. Totally amazing! I felt so protected and having read the other reviews in this section was comforted that we had made an excellent decision. However, mother became very upset about the prospects of leaving home. So, following serious consideration and with sincere apology, I called the manager to withdraw the application that Friday evening. I was comforted by her understanding. The longer-term benefit from this experience is that we now have a potential plan to meet this respite and long-term care need should it arise in the future. In the meantime, we certainly plan to tour the Arden Courts of Kensington.

Our Aunt Jody was a resident there years ago. I recently stopped by and was surprised that Margaret and Tony are still there. They have both been there for over 20 years. The staff were incredibly and has always had low turnover. That speaks volumes about the facility. Keep up the good work!!

I fell in love with Arden Courts Kensington the first time I visited it. The appearance on the outside was attractive. Unlike my experience at some other facilities, I was immediately given brochures and taken on a tour by the Executive Director. We walked through all four wings and passed a group cooking lesson in progress. An available private room was well-appointed and included a private bathroom. The outside courts are accessible and include tables for picnics, socializing or reading as well as a lovely gazebo. At the time, my wife was recovering from surgery for a broken ankle at a Skilled Nursing Facility. Both the ACK Executive Director and the Resident Services Coordinator (head nurse) visited my wife at the SNF and made all arrangements for transfer to ACK, where she initially used her wheel chair. She made rapid progress to using a walker within a couple of months thanks in good part to superior physical therapy. Now she can walk without assistance. The staff check her blood pressure and dispense medications every day. They do a good job caring for her safety and hygiene. An MD visits once a week and a Nurse Practitioner is available on some other days. They all keep her healthy. My wife is happy. The food is good, and we tour the facility after breakfast most mornings. Almost all the staff and residents are delighted to greet her: they love to see her big smile. There are lots of activities throughout the day; a highlight after finishing our tour is a short social gathering followed by group physical activity. Parties are arranged for holidays. I give Arden Courts Kensington my top recommendation.

It's rare that I give five stars to anything. My mother has been here for almost five years. We looked at a lot of places, but my firm advice is to stick with a place that does nothing but memory care. Arden Courts has made my life much easier and worry-free. The rooms are very clean, the beds are neatly made, the residents are always well-dressed and clean. The food is good. Unlike almost any other dementia place, there is a totally protected outdoor area where residents can enter just by opening the door. Outside, there's a acre or two of outdoor space with winding paths, benches and tables. The residents do not need to ask anyone to go outside: They can just go. The staff is, to a person, friendly and professional. The head nurse, Margaret, is great. The executive front staff is super friendly. The billing process is simple to understand and hassle-free. We basically get two bills a month, for room/board/care and for medicines. All in all, Arden Courts has totally exceeded our expections.

Putting Bob in a long-term care facility was probably the most difficult decision I have ever had to make. I had no idea how much time he might have left, but what I did know was that I wanted it to be as good as possible, and so picking the right place for him was important. I visited a number of facilities, but when I came to Arden Courts at Kensington I knew I had found the right place. It was attractive, it was spacious, it looked and felt like home. There was a variety of activities all day and into the evening, and he was free to wander about inside and out. In warm weather there was a gazebo and picnic tables where he and I sometimes have had lunch, and when the director learned he had been an active gardener she welcomed him to start one there. He soon had a circle of friends, most retired professionals as he was, and they enjoyed spending time together. But maybe even more important was a staff that knew how to care for Alzheimer's patients with warmth and grace and managed to know the names of every resident at Arden Courts and the members of their families. Once, after Bob had been there a month or so he took me for a particular walk he liked to take. "Isn't this a lovely place," he said excitedly, "and the people here are so nice." I knew then I had made the right choice.

My mother has been at Arden Courts for going on 2 years now and I could not be happier with the care she receives there. The staff is caring and attentive and has always responded to me in a timely matter. It's a beautiful facility. It's clean and well kept. My mother is content and happy there. It's a comfort for me and for my brother to know that she is well cared for. I looked at many facilities before deciding on Arden and I'm so glad I made that decision.

Our father moved into Arden Courts of Kensington in the middle of the pandemic. Imagine our fear. Fortunately, the staff at Arden Courts was wonderful. We cant say enough about the way they cared for him and treated him - and, the ways in which they protected him, and the other residents and staff from Covid. Most of the time we were able to have weekly one or two person visits with Dad, and we had weekly FaceTime calls with him the entire time he was there. The staff kept in contact with us - not just to say he needed warmer clothes or more of his favorite drink - but to tell us funny stories or send us occasional pictures or videos of Dad.Dad was well cared for at Arden Courts. His clothes were clean, his hair was cut and he was always clean shaven. The staff transitioned him to a walker as he became less steady on his feet. As his appetite waned, they focused on foods he liked and prepared snacks for him to eat during the day. Most importantly, Dad was happy. But the staff didnt just, take care of Dad. They got to know him, what he liked and what his life had been like. They talked to him about the things he knew and loved and used that information to keep him engaged. Having Dad move into a memory care facility in the middle of a pandemic was frightening, but the wonderful staff at Arden Courts proved that it was the safest and best place for him to be. We are indebted to them and highly recommend Arden Courts of Kensington.

I highly recommend Arden Courts of Kensington for the care of loved ones with dementia. Weve been deeply appreciative of the professionalism and caring nature of their staff. They really know how to best take care of people with dementia which is a specialized field. We previously had our mother in another assisted living facility but found to our dismay, that they didnt really know how to take care of her dementia. So we were glad to find AC Kensington from the recommendations of someone whose mother lived there and a dementia professional. Our advice to check out some dementia care facilities to see which one fits your loved ones needs. Definitely include AC Kensington too in your tours so you can see how they are specialized in dementia care. When we go out of town, we feel very secure knowing that shes in good hands and we need not worry about her welfare.

Arden Court Memory Care was a precious gift at a difficult time in our lives. My stepmother, for whom I have been caretaker for the better part of 20 years, was in Arden Court at Kensington for the last 18 months of her life. She had a very rare, complicated, form of Alzheimers that led to her not only losing her memory but her eyesight and other physical faculties as well. She was a very tough case.Under the superb leadership of Executive Director, Ann McDermott, the staff at Arden Court Memory Care was flawless with her every single day. They were, without fail, kind, gentle, attentive, positive, and encouraging of every aspect of her life even as it became more and more diminished. The facility is spotless and welcoming. The food is nutritious, there are plenty of activities in which the residents participate. When my stepmother could no longer communicate meaningful or engage, I would come for a visit and her nails had been beautifully painted, her hair combed, her room refreshed, and music was playing gently in the background. It all helped me and her feel at peace with what was an extremely difficult circumstanceTo say that we are grateful to Arden Court for their care is an understatement. As difficult a journey as this was for my stepmother and for our family, I felt that she - and we - were loved, valued and cared for in all ways humanly possible.

My family is extremely grateful of how Arden Courts was there for us in our time of need. My sister, who is my Moms caretaker, had to have surgery at the end of last year. Arden Courts provided care for my Mom for 1 month and was willing to extend my Moms care for a second month to give my sister enough time to fully recover. The staff was very professional and friendly and took great care of our Mom. Thank you Arden Courts for helping us in our time of need. We highly recommend Arden Courts to anyone who is looking for quality care for themselves or a love one!

I am greatful for the time that Arden Courts supported our family. The staff was extremely supportive during our time of need and extended themselves and their staff to our family beyond our expectations. The facilities are clean and secure. If we had concerns or questions the staff was transparent and responsive. I sincerely appreciate their generosity and support!Based on my experience I would recommend Alden Courts to any family looking for support for seniors challenged with mental hardship. Im greatful that my sister did her research and found Alden Court during our time of need!

My sister, Karen, lived at Arden Courts for well over a year and was able to thrive in the warm and loving environment that exists there. Our family also found great benefit in the support group therapy we received. The Director, Ann McDermott, is the best in the business and the entire staff at Arden Courts Kensington is truly awesome! They understood the type of dementia (FTD) we were dealing with and we never had to worry about Karen or her special needs being met. My sister always felt safe, happy loved and enjoyed the delicious meals, activities, and the freedom to roam the indoor and lovely outdoor garden walking paths. All of the residents there become family are cared for extraordinarily well and with compassion to meet their individual needs. I feel so lucky that I had such a wonderful team of professionals to see my sister through the last stages of her illness. This is by far the best memory care facility you will find in the D.C. Metro area and I highly recommend Arden Courts Kensington!
July 2019
The staff at Arden Courts Kensington is wonderful! They did a great job taking care of my mother while I recuperated from a surgery I had in November 2017. No one in my family was available to look after my mother 24-7 for the eight week recovery time I needed so I was introduced to Arden Courts through an organization that assists caregivers with respite care services.Arden Courts Kensington is a beautiful facility with a home-like environment that puts the residents at ease. They are well staffed with nurses and caregivers. They have regular activities for residents to do. They provide three nutritious meals a day, with snacks in between and they provide medication management. My mother greatly enjoyed her time there and I highly recommend Arden Courts to anyone who is looking for respite care services or long term care.

This place stands out as an upbeat and pleasant dementia care facility. The staff, from caretakers to marketing, are exceedingly caring, and they all have a good sense of humor. They keep in touch with family as needed about health issues and other needs. Moreover, the facility is designed specifically for dementia sufferers, with no elevators, and a pleasing yet simple design with lots of opportunities for walking, both inside and outside, in a secured courtyard. My mother has never had more walking exercise since shes been a resident at Arden Courts. I have complete confidence that she is being well cared for, respected, and nurtured.

My husband has lived at Arden Courts Kensington for more than 4 years. As heartbreaking as it was to have to move him out of our home, we were so fortunate to find this residential care facility. He has received outstanding care provided by excellent professionals and caregivers who go above and beyond to keep him safe, comfortable, cared for and feeling at home. Of course I wish he were not ill but Im thankful every day for the peace of mind that he is receiving such marvelous care. There is no other place as good as Arden Courts Kensington for dementia care.
