My Dad had the privilege to call Arbor Landing home from 2022 until his passing in 2026. Like most adult Gen X children dealing with aging boomer parents, I dreaded the thought of my Dad living in a dreary, hospital-like environment where seniors lose their independence, suffer from loneliness and feel incarcerated. From the moment we walked through the doors, Arbor Landing felt more like a luxury resort than a drab and dreary independent living community. The chic, modern facility, and resort-like atmosphere is open and airy and doesn’t feel like your great aunt Bertha’s old folks home. What truly sets Arbor Landing apart, however, is the staff. They don’t treat residents like customers”they treat them like family and friends. Every staff member was caring, compassionate, and genuinely invested in the well-being and happiness of Dad and the residents. Their kindness and personal connections set Arbor Landing miles ahead of the competition. Our family is incredibly grateful for the love, care, humor and friendship my Dad received during his sentence (his words not mine) at Arbor Landing. Our family has made some life long friends as the result of his residency there. The staff at this facility are AMAZING! Specifically want to thank Rachel and Anita! They were so kind as my mother declined in her health. They were attentive and always quick to respond to any questions or concerns that I had both while I was local and when I was not. I would happily recommend this facility as a retired LMSW that worked in the field of geriatric patients for over 30 years. I am truly grateful to them alll!

Summertime for teachers like myself are a treasure.however this summer was the absolute worst of my career until I met Rachel Wiley and the loving community of Arbor Landing at Surfside! Rachel was such a lighthouse! I had researched all living communities for my two parents and once I walked into Arbor Landing and met Rachel I knew this was HOME! You seethis was a huge step for my parents as they lived in their home for over sixty years .it was an institution which was always HOME. Rachel helped me and my family transition with support and genuine concern and sincerity..making the stress of this summera wave of relief! There aren’t really enough words or space here to express accurately the level of appreciation, gratitude & respect I have for Arbor Landing at Surfside, for Rachel, Annetta & staff for not only the level of care they provide but also the personal touch of care they give to each resident & to their families as well as the overall positive & uplifting environment they create there. They truly are the best. We lost mom unexpectedly last year they were so kind, accommodating & supportive during such a difficult time. Dad is still with us & we made a change to be closer to us where we live in Charleston thinking that closer would be better for dad, what we learned is there is NO PLACE LIKE Arbor Landing at Surfside & thier staff. We have experienced the best & are returning to the best as Dad will be moving back within the coming weeks. Dad after just a short visit the other day his spirits were lifted just seeing the staff and residents for a day. He’s excited & looking forward to being back with the crew at Arbor Landing at Surfside. Having Seniors helpers right there in the building is so amazing really helpful with Dads care plan & support. South Carolina House calls nursing staff is wonderful. Specifically the staff with Senior helpers & SC house calls within Arbor landing Surfside is the best in our area!! Like I said we have experienced other & it doesn’t compare. The entire staff from kitchen to maintenance are wonderful caring people. No surprise though under the excellent leadership of Rachel & Annetta. We’ve experienced the best & after a brief time away we learned that it truly is the people at Arbor Landing at Surfside that make it the best & make it feel like home- we are so happy Dad will be returning home & that we reconnected with such a wonderful people & a great support system for Dads care and for our family. The team at ALSS is amazing. Led by Rachel and Anita, their youthful exuberance and deep care for every resident flows into everything they do at the facility. The team is intentional and caring. The team does the right thing every time to ensure that your loved one gets exactly what they need. At ALSS your loved one is home. It’s not just a place they live. The services like senior helpers, sc house calls, super fun activities with Jen, the help of Joe who fixes everything, the dining staff, the janitorial team and so many others have one goal, providing the highest level of care and compassion for your loved one. One of my friends just transferred from another local facility to Arbor Landing. There are so many positive things to say about ALS; I hope I don’t forget any! Rooms are generous with lots of storage. The staff goes out of their way to be warm and friendly. Residents are adressed by their names and are attended to in a caring way. Food and activities are varied. It has a welcoming feel when you enter. There are conversation areas throughout the building. Definitely thumbs up!!

My Mom has enjoyed living at Arbor Landing Surfside for just over three and a half years. I've been very involved in her residency there and am well aware of this beautiful independent living community. Rachel was our initial contact with Arbor Landing. Her friendly personality and knowledge about this community was a huge factor in Mom's decision to move there. The entire staff is wonderful, from administration to dining and kitchen to housekeeping to maintenence to activities. They are all caring and dedicated to the residents. There is no doubt that the residents are the priority. My Mom has especially enjoyed the numerous ongoing activities such as craft classes, baking demonstrations, musical entertainment, exercise classes, and walking club, to mention a few. It's also very convenient that there are on-site services available by outside companies such as physical and occupational therapists, nurses, and assistance helpers. I feel very blessed and thankful that we found such a loving and supportive community for Mom. Thank you Arbor Landing Surfside!

I know 2 people who live at Arbor Landing. They and their family members have been very satisfied with the care they receive and with the facility. The public areas are beautiful and the apartments are also. The staff are professional and caring, going out of their way to accommodate the needs of the residents. Rachel Wiley is the best! A dear friend has spent three years at Arbor Landing where his life was both extended and enriched. No experience is perfect, but the staff went out of their way to respect his idiosyncrasies and to help him maintain his health. Towards the end he clearly needed more help than they would normally have provided, but they worked to support him so that he could stay in the facility. Many helped but throughout his three years there Rachel Wiley was always the smiling face who could make it happen, whatever the need seemed to be. I am deeply grateful for the caring attitude of the whole committed staff.

We moved my mom into Arbor Landing over two years ago. We couldn’t have picked a better independent living facility! The place is beautiful with modern updated apartments and facilities! The people, and I mean all the people are wonderful! Rachel Wiley who heads up sales is the most thoughtful and genuinely kindest person you’re ever going to meet! There are so many accolades to mention about this facility: First off, your first reaction walking around the halls and common areas is that it feels like a grand hotel resort with its wide hallways, bright light and decor, numerous amenities like a theatre rooms, rec room, library, cozy seating areas, outside rockers, bollards and shuffleboard tables, etc.. The individual apartments are wonderful designed with spacious rooms, plenty of light and designed for safety with emergency ringers, walk in showers, Alexa in every unit to control lighting, music or answer any question or inquiry. The staff is by far is the greatest mention here! Barbara, Rachel, Anita, Genn, Kathy, Dana, I can go on... They present such cheeriness, professionalism, care and concern and personality that any and all resident and visitor feels like a part of the family. I have been blessed with having my mom move in after the death of my father and she has thrived at Arbor Landing. She has become a fixture with the place as being a helping volunteer with decorating and assisting with holiday themes, happy hours and coordinating theatre room events. The staff here truly go out of their way to ensure comfort and care for all residents and are very communicative with myself when there are concerns. I am so impressed with what Independent Living can be for seniors that gives them freedom and character but not far from a helping hand and ease of support. If you are child of a senior that has to consider their future living arrangements, I highly recommend requesting an appointment and tour this facility to see what it has to offer and meet some of the fellow residents - you will find a very happy environment.

Our family member, 84 yo, has lived at Arbor Landing for 4 months and absolutely loves it! He has made friends, LOVES his 3 meals a day, and so many activities to participate in. He is thriving since moving here because he is interacting with his peers and making new friends. The staff is exceptional! They really care about their residents! I went to look at Arbor Landing at Surfside for my parents. Not only was I greeted with some great staff members but some of the people that live there were telling me how much they like it. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Fast forward...my parents are now living there in their 2 bedroom apartment and absolutely Love it. The activities are great and the food is amazing. The choices they get are wonderful. They take you shopping to grocery stores, department stores and out to eat at local restaurants. I'm so glad I found Arbor Landing for my parents! I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a retirement community!

Arbor Landing at Surfside is a very special place with staff that knows each resident and truly cares about their physical, emotional and intellectual health. They understand that elderly means bodies are old but minds can be sharp and need stimulating things to do and lively discussions. They create an environment that truly creates community and encourage residents to start their own clubs and interest groups if they don't already exist in the myriad of things they have going on a regular basis. My mom was immediately welcomed by both staff and residents and made to feel at home very quickly, making some wonderful friends and trying new activities. As an educator, I can say that this group of caring people understands how to bring people together and make them feel like the valued community members they are. They are professional, warm, caring, genuine people that I feel fortunate to have found for my mom. Thank you to everyone at Arbor Landing at Surfside.

We own a condo at Surfside Beach and mom, at age 98, was looking for a place so that we might enjoy our own retirement. Arbor landing was the perfect choice for a Respite Stay. The staff is caring, loving, and attentive. The facility itself is as well-appointed as a cruise ship. Rachel, the director is a gem! Thanks to all for making mom’s experience so positive. Our dear neighbor, Barbara, moved here when she sold her home and my granddaughter & I visited her and were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful this senior independent living facility is! We were amazed at how many activities were available, pool table, craft/activity rooms, a theater and they even were having a Happy Hour off the lobby. My 10 year old granddaughter actually said that she would love to live there!! We are very happy that our dear friend is living close by in such a beautiful place while living within a safe environment at 95 years young! We look forward to our next visit!
