Reviews Waterstone at the Circle
June 2026
When it came time to look at independent living my parents were skeptical. However, they had heard good things about Waterstone at the Circle and decided to look into it. They had lived their lives in Brookline and wanted to stay in an urban environment so that they could continue to live their lives as before. Initially they thought the good things they had heard were too good to be true. But in they quickly discovered that they were indeed true. The building is attractive, comfortable, in a great location, impeccably maintained, and their apartment was quiet and full of sunlight. They enjoyed the common rooms, access to Cassidy Field, lectures, musical performances, and the dining room. Indeed, one of the prospective attractions for them was “ the food. They both loved good food, restaurants, and cooking for themselves and family. Friends told them that the dining room and meals at Waterstone were far better than those at other independent living communities. For my parents, dinner was an extremely important part of their day and the dining room and kitchen never let them down. My mother would say as good as any restaurant in the city. My parents also enjoyed their new neighbors. Both were social people with plenty of old friends but quickly made new friendships among the other residents. As they aged and as they faced various challenges their new community was extremely important to them. My mother was still making new friends in her 90s “ something she marveled at. Most of all, however, my parents were impressed by and made deep friendships with the many wonderful men and women who work at Waterstone and make the building the special place that it is. The staff is exceptionally and genuinely warm, kind, and interested. My mother would sometimes ask with sincere affection and gratitude, Where do they find these people? They’re as good as family “ sometimes better.

We have lived at Waterstone at the Circle for only three weeks, yet we are already very pleased with the experience. In a short time we have met many new friends and have been invited to join many other residents who were interested in welcoming us and getting to know us. We like the relatively small size of this senior residence, and have found many things to our liking. The food is excellent and abundant, and the resident facilities such as an exercise room, indoor pool, theater and meeting areas are first class. We feel as if we are living in an elegant hotel or on a cruise ship! Our two-bedroom apartment is very nicely designed and comfortable, and has accommodated all of our necessary furniture and belongings. We highly and unconditionally recommend Waterstone at the Circle to other prospective tenants. Daniel & Suzanne Goldenson, formerly of Princeton, NJ

My parents have been at Waterstone at the Circle for a number of years. They could not be happier or feel more welcomed.

The Oscars were celebrated in typical Waterstone elegance. The staff and residents dressed to the nines and walked the red carpet as hors' derves (including charcuterie, hummus and crudite, and shellfish) and sparkling drinks were served. The residents enjoyed steak, salmon, lobster and pasta primavera while a live cellist played on. For dessert, we enjoyed little cakes and chocolate covered strawberries with coffee and tea. Then, we watched the Oscars on the big screen. What a fun evening, even for those who aren't movie buffs. We all had a great time.

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD My wife and I moved into the Waterstone in 2018. The urban independent living was exactly what we wanted for our last quarter. Brand new on the site of the Cleveland Circle Cinema and the old HoJo’s, with views and access to Cassidy Park, the Reservoir, two T stops, a new Hotel across the promenade, and all of the urban amenities we wanted. There are many beautiful alternatives in the nearby suburbs. We like city life, and we wanted to remain active in Boston, which we have called home for most of our adult lives. We found that maintaining an involved, active life was dependent on building Community. Waterstone at the Circle provided a wonderful opportunity to create a vibrant Community. We residents function like an urban neighborhood. A neighborhood built with the intent to provide all with a comfortable, accessible, safe life. The very best part of our neighborhood is the population. A population of interesting, involved, informed, respectful older adults, topped off with a heaping scoop of friendly. The well-trained and dedicated staff often go the extra step to ensure that we are respectfully listened to in a non-condescending manner. My beautiful, wonderful wife of 55 years died in home Hospice on 8 February 2026. In our home, apartment #209, with her family and hospice staff present. Staff and residents all showed great compassion and care for both Alice and me. This is how a real community functions. Thank you to our entire Community.

My husband and I have lived at Waterstone at the Circle for two years. The best part is the like minded, intellectual, friendly conversations and friendships we have with our neighbors. It’s an independent community of active seniors. We enjoy the stimulating lectures and concerts here at the Circle, but we are so close to downtown Boston that we can go to the symphony and ballet anytime we like. The concierge team is so helpful and kind. We don’t have a car, so we use the ride service with the friendly drivers to take us to medical or social appointments. The meals here are delicious and are sophisticated, varied, and up to my high standards, including heart healthy and low sodium. The maintenance team are excellent and respond quickly if we have anything go wrong, it’s nice to not have to wait. The housekeeping staff are friendly and meticulous. Overall, all the staff are friendly, warm, and eager to help. Compared to the communities our parents lived at and the others we’ve seen, Waterstone is an another class entirely. We’re so glad we made the move.

I moved in 3 1/2 years ago with my husband, and I am so glad I did. When my husband passed, I had a community who cared and supported me. I have made friends with intelligent and interesting people. The life enrichment activities are stimulating and geared towards my interests. The staff and management are supportive and helpful. The food is excellent.

We've had a care management client and her spouse move there recently and it was a very smooth and successful transition. The staff are always very responsive, friendly and helpful when anything is needed. The facility itself is beautiful with great amenities and in a lively setting in Cleveland Circle!

Listen up everybody over the age of 62 who are planning to retire to an independent living facility. Consider moving to Waterstone at the Circle in Boston, Massachusetts, remarkable for combining both city and country living at one location. Trolley cars and bus stations are outside our front door. Outside our back door is a tree lined fully-lighted 10-acre park with 3 ball fields, 2 tennis courts, bocce court and picnic area with 2 charcoal grills and available space for soccer, kite flying, dog walking, sunbathing. Across the street from the park is a 1.5-mile reservoir, encircled by various species of trees and bushes, with a trail for people and dogs and bikes. Most noteworthy about our shared home at the Circle is the camaraderie exhibited by 100 strangers who have become friends. Contributing to our well-being and pleasures is the kitchen where our chefs produce 5-star healthy menus every day. The executive staff, concierge, life enrichment, maintenance, transportation, waitstaff and housekeeping personnel are essential and contribute greatly to the betterment of our lives. Submitted by Joan (joni) Sack who has made the Circle my home for 6 joyous years.

They are warm, kind, friendly and professional and always have time to chat or answer a question and help in any way. It's a beautiful , happy (and safe place) for elders to live, eat and socialize.

Waterstone has been a wonderful location for my aunt. My family is very grateful for the staff. They have been caring, kind and helpful. The space is first class with wonderful public areas, parks, off street parking and amenities. There’s a pool and gym, an art room, a music room, a big theatre and great programming. The food is delicious and the chef is five star! The staff responds to my aunt’s calls for service quickly- from reaching items up high to opening jars! And always with a smile. I advise anyone with a senior to consider this location. I live out of town and I am so relieved that the staff are there for my aunt!
