This is my favorite place to go because every time I am met with a clean space the smiling facing of the residents. I recently hosted a game of bingo with them and the were so welcoming and engaged. Mercedes always goes above and beyond to coordinate activities and more for them.

Thanks to the woman who comes to clean my mama’s apartment, named Beverly. I was telling her my mom was feeling so upset and her blood pressure was over the top for almost a week. We had been to the Urgent care on Saturday and this was Tuesday. Beverly said, did they check her for a UTI? So we went back to urgent care and Beverly was right! I am so grateful for her insight. Mama is on her way to her lower blood pressure!!! Thanks Regent!!!

My aunt has been here four years and she loves it.she turned 100 her first year here and they gave her a party with family and staff.The administration and staff are always caring and helpful and they all know her.No matter where we go there will be something that is not one hundred per cent,so we are grateful that she turned 103 on July14 and in good condition.

We recently helped my father move into, The Holiday Durham Regent, and our experience has been excellent. The staff provide friendly, responsive, and supportive assistance. The facility is always clean, bright, and cheerful. My father is especially pleased with the three delicious meals served daily. There are also plenty of fun activities and opportunities for residents to connect. We couldn’t be more pleased!

Staff here is wonderful - hard-working, friendly and fun to be with! Food is decent & I love not having to cook! Residents are friendly & welcoming and try to look out for one another. Price is reasonable. However Corporate doesn’t seem to understand what encourages a community of Senior Citizens. Just found out the owner wants all our puzzles taken away. Sitting in the activity area and working on a puzzle is my way of engaging with others and de-stressing. Since I moved here there have always been three or four puzzles in progress on tables for people to join in solving, and now they’re all gone! Am told a lot of the books are going as well! These two things are what attracted me, and I constantly see residents grabbing a book from our library. I would think when touring prospective clients, Corporate would want evidence that there are activities going on and residents are involved. My husband saw the basketball game and mini ping pong table and was sold. Now those items have to be put away out of sight for some reason. I walk down the hallway and enjoy the different door decorations, and now understand they are no longer allowed. That is unfortunate for a neighbor who depends on her door wreath to help her remember which apartment is hers, not to mention making the residents feel we can’t enjoy our own home by putting a decoration on the door. In light of these new, restrictive and unwelcoming-feeling orders handed down from our corporate headquarters Atria, I hesitate to recommend the Holiday Durham Regent to friends. If Atria could work on the problems, like installing a second elevator to help relieve the 30 minute wait to get to the third floor dining hall at meal times, or find a way to hire housekeepers & food servers separately in order to decrease their workload, or think about replacing the dingy carpet in the hallways to help our building look more inviting, instead of taking away some of the things the residents enjoy, the Durham Regent would easily get 5 stars!

My Dad stayed at Holiday Durham Regent for a few months in 2025. First off, the residents really were great, very inclusive, kind, and friendly. A diverse population too, which was appreciated. Some of the long term staff (dining and cleaning staff) were absolutely fantastic as well. They were friendly and had a great rapport with the residents. The management was unfortunately not as effective or friendly. We had so many issues while Dad stayed here. Some issues were smaller. For example, he had to ask for his mailbox key 4 different times before they gave him a copy. His name wasn’t on his door until weeks after he moved in. Laura, the sales manager, told us about the theater and how there were movies several times a week, which was also listed on the calendar. Then only after Dad moved in did we hear that the theater equipment had been broken for several months prior. The calendar continued to show there were movies being shown every week- that’s just false advertising and confusing for new residents. Most of the activities on the calendar did not actually happen, and those that did happen(Happy Hour) were resident led. Slightly more concerning, Dad received a notice that he hadn’t paid rent and owed a late fee, even though all rent payments had been made on time. I hope this was not intentional but could so easily be a scam of the elderly. The biggest issue was the massive roach infestation. Roaches were not just in his room from the first day, they were throughout the building. Roaches would crawl on his desk, be in the kitchenette, the bathroom and even spotted by his bedside. When visiting I would frequently see them in the common areas, including the dining area. Several other residents(across the building) would complain about them too. Occasionally an exterminator would come; but their treatment was minimal and it was clear the infestation was not taken seriously enough to be effective. In emailing management, I never got a response and rarely got an in-person acknowledgement. I tried finding and emailing corporate, which I also never got a response. Overall, if it wasn’t for the poor management and roach infestation Dad would have stayed here a lot longer. It is possible that these issues have been resolved, but it would be highly unlikely.

I would love to share with everyone how much better my life is since moving into DURHAM REGENT ASSISTED LIVING!!!! From the salesperson to the phenomenal manager, the Activities Director, the hospitality staff and beyond make life so incredible. The rooms are clean, well maintained and you will never want for anything. They have housekeeping 1 day / week which even includes bed linens and making your bed. Vacuuming, deep cleaning!! I have been critically sick and the entire staff has been ready, willing and able to lend any help they can. I can’t begin to tell you what an incredible blessing the entire staff.all inclusive.has been to me from day one. The residents have so many activities each day and the friends I have made are incredible. You are never alone unless you choose to be. If you are not well, you will, incredibly, have your meals brought to your room. I guess my point is that if you or a loved one are looking for an absolutely perfect place to call home, Durham Regent is waiting here with your new Keys to health and happiness! Don’t wait to begin the best of life! It’s right here!!

Over 90% of the time the food is good to very good. I have put on a little weight since I got here. My fault, not theirs. As someone else said, it is a calm and peaceful place. As part of my contract, when I moved here as a resident, I was given three months to decide whether to stay here or not. I asked people who had been here 10 years, 20 years and even 30 years, what they thought of the place. They all said they liked it. Now, I am looking forward to my carpeting being changed because it was not done before I moved in. I have been promised it will be done soon.

I came here ten years ago. Cindy the then GE ran g to be regent with strength but also kindness she expressed everywhere. Her staff did exactly what they were told knowing if they needed help at any time Cindy would jump in and do whatever was needed. Since Cindy left the Regent hasn’t been awful but nowhere near par. This year they brought in a GM that through herself into thrr ed job with intellect and hands on, she painted, she got the landscaping where it was finally beautiful and presentable. She has so many things to try and fix and it’s getting done but I it can’t be done overnight. She’s one person and needs to get a crew behind her that wants Durham Regent once again to be on top. This will no doubt get done but she needs to also have time to get the right managers who are just as strong and determined as she is. So please give it some time and I guarantee the changes when made will be permanent and not just putting a bandage on. Trust me and watch

I visited at Holiday Durham Regent while visiting my dad and all i can say is good things about this place it was clean, quiet, and had such a welcoming vibe. Crisy, the manager was absolutely wonderful so professional and kind she made sure my father was in good care which made me have so much trust in this place.The assistant manager Lamika was just as sweet and made sure everything was perfect during my stay. You can tell they truly care about the guest experience and the residents I couldn’t have asked for a better place to visit while spending time with family. I’ll definitely be back!

I was not able to finish my survey, but wanted to comment that for activities we are promised outings on our bus but our activities director does not drive! We cannot go out to lunch or do any of the things we used to do. Training of a new housekeeper was not adequate. She does not remove trash from our rooms, does a poor job in cleaning and often sits visiting with a coworker for long periods of time. The floors on 4th floor are poorly cleaned also.

With Cindy out on medical leave;Jacob is high on rules and protocol and short on empathy and resident/family customer satisfaction. He is friendly as long as you don’t have a concern but then, he can’t be bothered. COVID was a nightmare; cold boxed meals, minimal (if any) housekeeping, confinement and isolation.
