My 90yr old mother has been in the Health Center for 3 days. She has not gotten 1 meal correct, & was never served breakfast this morning. She rang for the nurses & no one ever came to her room. Thank goodness it wasn't an emergency!!

From our first phone call with Rose the Admissions coordinator, to our day of discharge we could not have had a better experience at Abby Delray South. Every staff member treated my mother with kindness and respect which created a wonderful environment for healing. I highly recommend this facility when looking for a rehab stay for a loved one.

2nd stay in a year. Excellent care! The therapist are amazing and professional. They definitely get you moving and ready to go home. The nurses are very caring and professional. The CNAs are the best and go above and beyond! Lavi, Seena and Pam the 3 CNAs I had the most on 3 different shifts made my stay exceptional. All the support staff go above and beyond to see to all your needs… I highly recommend Abbey Delray South!

My mother had two stays with the Abby Delray South Health Center. Both times they exceeded our expectations and took excellent care of mom. She was the one after her second shoulder surgery asked me to make the arraignments for her to be admitted. The care of the nurses is top notch and the aids are very attentive to her needs. People usually complain about the food in services like this or hospitals but my mother was pleasantly surprised that, for the most part, the food was very good. They provide laundry services and have activities, if one would like to participate. We both would highly recommend Abby Delray South Health Center should you or your loved one be in need of recovery. Thanks again ladies! Mark and Shirley Z.

My husband was admitted to Abbey Delray South for physical therapy after discharge from the hospital. The transfer and admission was done with maximum efficiency. Once admitted, the staff could not have been more caring from the the dietary staff, to the aides (special kudos to Mykela) to the Director of PT, to Beverly, the Director of Nursing, to Kesler Thelemaque, the facility Administrator all the way up to Brad Bodie, the facility Director. I cannot speak more highly of this facility and would gladly recommend it to anyone requiring skilled nursing care.
July 2024
My Mom had an extended stay here, just about 4 weeks. In that time, we have gotten to know every staff member, aid, nurse, administrator, and front desk person around every shift. This is an exceptional place for loved ones to strengthen and thrive as they recover from their medical issues. Firstly, it is very CLEAN. I was impressed at how tidy and clean my mom's room always was, as were the hallways, activity rooms, and dining hall. Tables had fresh tablecloths on them; every hallway had fresh water with fruit infusions and a sign explaining the health benefits (I loved these details). There were plenty of activities 7 days a week, including ice cream socials, animal therapy, movie nights, live music, drawing, etc. They try to engage their residents at all times. The rooms all had TVs. The aids showered the residents at least twice a week and they were cleaned and linens changed daily. The nurses really cared for my mom, always checking in on her, noting any changes in her mood or appetite. My Mom really enjoyed the food. and she put on some much-needed weight during her stay. My mom is being discharged tomorrow and is sad she is leaving (change is always difficult). I would not hesitate to send your loved ones here if it was necessary. I'd say the only note I can think of is there has to be an easier way, or more consistent way for residents to talk via phone or video to their family or friends if they struggle to use their phone. Maggie and Landy were just wonderful to us and so kind to my mom. They deserve special recognition.
July 2024
Maggie has been one of the bright lights of my stay here at Abby South. she's always ready to help and always with a smile. There is nothing I can ask of her that she doesn't do it for me either immediately or as soon as she can, she is always ready to listen to me and to what I need and the same for my family as well. She is a hard worker. She's always doing something either at her computer, or running around the building. It's a pleasure knowing Maggie. I think she is one of the most valuable employees here for Abby South, and she always has the interest of not only the patients but the organization here as well. I think the organization here is very fortunate to have her on the staff. she is professional when she needs to be and warm and loving when that is needed as well. The other people on the staff here look up to her and what she brings to the team. She is a very valuable team employee and I think the team would miss her if she wasn't here to bring that team spirit. she is exactly the one that you want on the front desk greeting people when they come in the door. When they meet Maggie they feel "well. Here is where I want to be for my rehab." As a priest, for 50 years, I know that first impressions are usually lasting impressions Fr Don Milligan

My mother is 96 and she fell and needed a lot of care and rehab coming out of the hospital. Everyone at Abbey Delray South, from the administrators and nurses on down is so helpful and nice. Abbey Delray South is clean and well organized. The food is pretty good too. My mother is doing better now thanks to the care and professionalism of the staff at Abbey Delray South!

June 2024
I am a current resident of Abbey Delray South and am very pleased with my experiences here. My fellow residents are friendly, interesting, and helpful. The grounds and birdlife are beautiful and spacious, all 31 acres. There are many stimulating and instructive activities to choose from each day. The housekeeping and maintenance staff are courteous and prompt in making sure everything is as it should be. I can't imagine living anywhere else.
June 2024
My wife's and I spent one summer visiting "not-for profit" retirement communities in central and northern Florida with emphasis on those situated in "non-evacuation" zones. We settled on Abbey Delray South, a happy retirement community set in beautiful grounds with many activities for members. We were struck by the friendly attitude of members. The facility consists of three high rise blocks containing apartments of three configurations and 45 Garden Homes. A Fitness Center, Card Room for daily games (Canasta and mahjong groups), an Auditorium where biweekly sanctioned Duplicate Bridge games, triweekly exercise classes, bimonthly trivia and Bingo games, and numerous monthly speakers from academia. There is an extremely fulsome weekly menu serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have a Resident Council with committees responsible for various daily needs of the community. We have an Executive Director employed by Lifespace Communities, a national organization managing 17 facilities. Their management structure is inverse to a normal one, in that the members have employed them to take care of them in their retirement years. Technically they should be responsive to any request from a member but on minor occasions they have chosen not to respond/react to requests. Finally, we have a five-star Health Center for members and the local community. This is a wonderfully adjunct for post operative rehabilitation but is does not handle memory-care issues.

I've been at Abbey DELRAY South for nearly 8 years and love it! One of the best decisions of my life to move here. The people are friendly, interesting and well-travelled, the grounds are beautiful and there are more stimulating and satisfying things to do than one can ever do! I especially love the fitness, duplicate bridge and theater and concert trips!!
May 2024
I moved here a little over 2 years ago. I love living here. Everyone here cares about each other. I've gotten involved in several committees and the Resident Council. We have the best Lifestyle Department and our parties and happy hours are great fun! We have so many activities and entertainment events. It's a great place to live!
May 2024
My rehabilitation stay at Abbey Delray South was nothing short of excellent. The nursing staff was extremely professional and the aids were quite helpful. The Physical Therapy Dep't was top notch helping in my recovery from my hip operation. I was pleased with the cleanliness and found it pleasant on the outside patio. Overall, I am glad my recuperation was at Abbey Delray South. Stephanie B.

April 2024
I am completely satisfied with the rehab facilities. The staff including the aides, nurses and Physical Therapists were very helpful in aiding my recovery.
March 2024
Abbey Delray South provided outstanding care for my elderly mother after a fall. The staff was attentive, responsive, compassionate and caring. If I asked someone a question they would look for the person with the answer and return to inform me. I was called if there was a change in my mother 's condition with information on how it would be addressed. Often she received therapy twice a day, and it was provided on Saturdays. Meals were tasty and her consumption was tracked. The staff at every level was conscientious, supportive, and friendly. Leadership and management are invested in their staff as employees obviously enjoy their job and take pride in their work. This is a benchmark facility and program. You can trust them to prove excellent care.
March 2024
My elderly Aunt received good personal care, but getting in touch with the staff was very difficult. Her discharge was poorly coordinated resulting in an 8 hour delay. Very understaffed. No discharge planner on site.
March 2024
My elderly mother was admitted to Abbey Delray South on Dec. 16th 2023 and remained at the rehab center for almost 11 weeks until the end of February 2024. She had broken her femur and after surgery needed extensive rehab with OT/PT. I can't say enough about the staff (very loving and caring), and the nurses ( knowledgeable and attentive), at the facility. The PT/OT therapists were exceptional. My mother went from needing a Hoyer lift to get from her bed to the wheelchair to being able to walk short distances with her walker and propel herself in the wheelchair. My mother has now transitioned to assisted living. We visited every day of those 11 weeks to make sure my mother knew a family member was there to offer support and advocate for her well being and continued improvement. When the weather was beautiful, which was most days, we sat in the lovely outdoor courtyard area with my mom. They also had a great library with many large print books that my mother visited regularly. We even celebrated my mother's 95th birthday at Abbey Delray South. We had use of their conference/family gathering room that we were able to decorate and bring food into for the celebration.
February 2024
Abbey Delray South is an amazing rehab facility where my mom was treated after being released from the hospital after a 9 day stay. The care she received was superb! The nurses, therapist and staff treated my mother with kindness, respect and determination to make sure she received the therapies needed for her rehab. I've generally heard terrible stories of rehab facilities such that I was concerned about the care my mom would receive - my family and I were pleasantly surprised and overjoyed to experience the opposite - Abbey Delray South is an amazing rehab facility dedicated to the care of their patients - our family will be forever grateful to Abbey Delray for the care my mom received .
February 2024
I was admitted for a fractured femur. Put in a double room and did not see an aide or nurse for over 3 hours. I did not have any water or know how to operate anything. I was told I was going to have a private room when I left the hospital. I had to be very vocal to get one two days later The nurses were great. Every one of them was 5 star. However, if I pushed the button for an aide, I could sometimes wait 20-25 mins. This can be a problem if you must use the bathroom. I started taking myself after 8/9 days as I could not wait. Showers are twice a week, if you are lucky. I had one shower in 12 days. I was told I would have pt and ot for an hour each daily. I had a combination of both for 45-60 mins 5 days a week, 30 mins on Sat and none on Sun. There was a lot of sitting, 23 hours for 1 hour of theraphy. Not sure how other rehabs handle their pt. It is not on a schedule that the patient is aware of, they just show up. My assigned therapist was out one day, I did not have theraphy that day. I was not impressed w/how the facilty was operated. If you were not vocal, which many are not capable of, you probably did not have your needs met. I asked 5 different people to please find out when my followup was w/the surgeon. I finally found out they had not made the appt when I called myself to check on it. They had to take my stitches out at ADS as they could not stay in until my appt. My overall impression o the facility was mediocre.

My husband just spent 5 weeks in Abbey Delray South and I must say he was treated well. The nursing staff and the CNA's were wonderful and very helpful. I am thankful for the physical, occasional and speech therapist that got my husband back on his feet and thinking for himself again. Kudos to the "Entertainment Team" who brought the morning activities flier and transported the patients to and from to participate. I'm glad he's home but he is missing the staff
January 2024
A warm and welcoming community, filled with dedicated and hard working team members and incredibly kind residents!
November 2023
Max Compere was absolutely the best. He went above and beyond with every request and did so joyfully. You have a treasure in this person!! 10 stars would not be enough. Rose from Admissions, Avril from the nursing staff, and every we came in contact with was kind and caring. I'm sorry I didn't get everyone's name, but I am grateful my cousin is in such good hands!! Thank you all!!

This is a great Rehab center. The staff was very helpful and accommodated. Rose in admission was very welcoming and friendly. I would recommend this Rehab facility to everyone
September 2023
Never been at a community with friendlier residents and staff. Beautiful renovations are underway to an already beautiful community.
July 2023
My mother admitted with both a broken arm and a fractured hip. She was anxious about having to go to a skilled nursing facility initially, but her concerns were put at ease when she arrived. Upon admission the nurse and assistant, Mikayla made her feel welcome and answered her many questions. Her room was private and nicely appointed with a hospital type bed, bathroom and shower. She had a recliner in her room and a wheelchair for her use along with a couple of chairs for visitors. Everything was very clean. Her physical and occupational therapists were professional, efficient and super friendly. Most importantly they helped her to improve her strength, increase her mobility and taught her to be safe upon her discharge. The food was excellent. Everyday she had multiple choices for every meal and the option to eat in her room or in their dining room. Eventually she ate in the dining room and praised the staff, especially Michael. There were activities for her to participate in, and later in her stay she did enjoy a couple of those. The television in her room was a large flat screen... I didn't check how many channels but my mother said there were like a hundred and she was very happy with the choices. She was able to use her laptop and keep up with her bills and other activities using their Wi-Fi. My mother went from walking approximately 5 ft with a lot of assistance after her injury to walking independently with a cane over 200 ft and able to go home. Every person we interacted with on their staff was friendly and helpful. Choosing Abby South his was an excellent decision and I highly recommend anyone considering rehab or extended care services go here.

I was in Abbey Delray South rehab for the month in March recovering from a tennis accident. When I was wheeled in from Delray Medical Center hospital, my heart sunk. I thought I was dropped off in a third world country in a facility that should be condemned—shared old, dirty room and disgusting old bathroom in the Ashley section, a nightmare. An aide tried to transfer me from the wheelchair to the bed and the bed railing fell off. I had to wait in the hall till it was fixed. At 2:00am the admitting nurse came to see me and do an evaluation—at 2:00am! She said they were too busy to do it sooner. I was informed earlier that I'd be transferred to a private room because of my condition. It turned out to be a tale of two cities—I was in the old section that needed to be gutted and rebuilt then moved to the lovely section that was remodeled. What a difference—a large, pleasant private room where I could rest and heal unbothered in comfort. And the meals exceeded my expectations, they were varied and tasty. The administrative staff were all terrific. Barry, the new rehab administrator, was accessible, very helpful and kind. Everyone in physical and occupational therapy were caring, encouraging and a pleasure to work with to improve. Kudos to all the staff and nurses for being attentive, including my daytime aides. Like Delray Medical Center hospital with two wings, one new and one disgusting old--I feel if the decrepit section here can be torn down and rebuilt too, this would be a wonderful rehab facility. I had a taste of both to compare and luckily wound up on the good side of the tracks for a good experience.

My dad recently passed away at Abby Delray south .. to be honest they did try , but the care was 100% poor .. they simply let you die there simply said .. the Male Philipinno nurse lied to m & said they do not have Defibrillators .. " but that was apparently a big lie !!!! Just be careful it's so Sad they did to little to late .. trust me it's a horrible place to let a parent die then the care & not being fully prepared for a medical emergency .. they call for outside help when tone is so precious . Bye then it's too late !! May god help them .

This Community's residents are incredible. The are warm and welcoming, positive, and truly seem to love where they live. And, the team works very hard! The renovations underway are going to give the buildings a great face-lift!

The variety of social activities both physical and intellectual (sans pandemic) has been an ADS extended family fun. Participation in musical shows, choir and lectures are pleasing to anyones interest. Management has everyones interest at heart. Accommodations all have a lovely view of the well kept rolling grass plains and gardens. Be at peace in a well cared for HOME.

My wife and I have just moved in to Abbey Delray South in the last two weeks. I admit to having doubts about this move before doing it. However, I know now that it was the right thing to do. The staff has gone overboard in making us immediately feel at home and fellow residents have been equally welcoming. In so many ways our lives have become more comfortable.
October 2020
One of the best facilities in the area!
October 2020
I came from New York 4 years ago and this was the best choice I ever made. Abbey Delrey South is the most friendly community yet having my own apartment gives me all the privacy I need. The services are exceptional. One phone call away and the front desk always answers your queries.
October 2020
Update to previous review: The managers of Abbey Delray South have been in touch with both my aunt, the resident of Abbey and me. They have been able to get a working phone line in my aunts room, after nearly two weeks without the ability to communicate with friends and family outside of Abbey Delray.

We moved into a garden home 2 months ago. The staff has been superb. You can not ask for better assistance and attention to the needs of a new resident. My wife and I are very happy with our decision to come here. The facility grounds are outstanding, the programs for ones mental, physical and entertainment needs exceptional, and the food is well above average in presentation, variety and taste. .
July 2020
Home is where the heart is and Abbey Delray South is my home. I would not live anywhere else. I am so happy here and I feel so close the people who live here. The staff is here for every need. We certainly made the RIGHT decision.
June 2020
Abbey Delray was just what my elderly mother needed. Nice facility with great services including the meals. From our initial meeting with Robyn, through move in and her eventual death the guidance and support could not have been better. I might consider it for myself at a later stage of life (But remember to move while you are healthy to enjoy it all!)Everyone was kind and helpful, esp as she declined and became more forgetful. The team reached out to me to suggest additional nursing care and the Director, with family support, had the difficult discussion about stopping driving. Lead Nurse Care Coordinator Tudie-Ann Clarke and her LPN Lifespace Communities team were fabulous. Working with me long distance to get her the support she needed and accompany her to drs appts as needed and keep me looped in overseas. They went above and beyond when she passed. I am grateful to the whole team and cant recommend them enough.

I moved into Independent Living 6 weeks ago, and on my third day here realized what a good move it was. My apartment is beautiful--decorated entirely to my choices. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The residents are friendly, the food much better than I expected. The well tended grounds are spacious--lots of trees and grass and flowers. Theres an extraordinary fitness program with many classes to choose from and a well equipped fitness center. Im in better shape already. There are plenty and varied activities and a beautiful library.

My 97 year old mother moved into Abbey Delray South a year ago and she loves it.On behalf of our entire family, thank you. We are impressed and grateful to you on all fronts - your facilities, grounds, food service and most importantly your staff, particularly Candy Cogswell who was the face of Abbey D to us as we went thru the application and move-in process. Her direction, on-going guidance, responsiveness, and follow-thru are commendable.Since her move in, Mom has made wonderful friends at Abbey Delray and is more social than she and Dad ever were at their previous home in Delray Beach. She loves it there and is very happy. Keep up the great work, and thank you.
