Brought my mom and dad here 3 months ago from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Staff was incredibly patient in the months prior as we worked to get mom and dad ready for the move. Sophia and Lulu have been my lifesavers helping me during some very emotional times as we worked to get my parents settled in. Mom and dad comment all the time about how friendly all the staff and residents are. The location is very convenient and the facility and grounds are peaceful and very well kept The food in the dining room is exceptional I can relax knowing that they are safe and happy

The Monte Vista is a beautiful facility that feels incredibly warm and inviting. There are so many activities for the residents to enjoy and people always have a smile. The environment's beauty is only surpassed by the excellent care and compassion provided by the staff. Britt, Lulu, and Valerie bring clinical knowledge and heart together to help their residents in every way. If anyone I love ever needs assisted living or memory care, this will be the place I look to.

The Montevista at Coronado Independent Living Center located at 1575 Belvidere Street in Northwest El Paso offers a rather unique living setting for people aged 55 and over. We are in our late 60's and moved in almost a year ago. It is an interior access apartment complex that offers a variety of apartment layouts and sizes. We initially moved into a two-bedroom/two-bath unit, but were on the list for a two-bedroom/two-bath unit with a den which we converted into an office. As we both still work, the office was a necessity. When we moved in to each of the units, they had been painted, so the unit felt fresh. We had to give up certain things when we moved to Montevista, namely cooking, cleaning, laundry and yard work, to name a few. All are done for you. Happy hour is every day at 4:30 p.m. Meals are in the dining room, with a hot breakfast, a daily menu for lunch and dinner and an any-time menu offering a constant menu choice should you not like the menu being offered that day. You can sign up for transportation, so driving yourself is optional. Weekly fun activities are planned such as going to local restaurants for lunch, going to the movies, casinos, and for local shopping. Transportation is provided if you sign up for the activity. Funny, I came and looked at Montevista for my mother about 22 years ago….after seeing everything they offered, I laughed and said we were going to live there one day….and here we are! Good friends, good food, a nice apartment unit, security and an easy lifestyle…who could ask for more!

The entire staff is friendly, professional, and attentive to all of the residents. I was impressed by how many referred to residents by name and had genuine conversations. Not so at other facilities I toured. The food is absolutely wonderful. the facility is beautiful and I could not be happier to know my mother is in such a lovely environment and able to maintain her independence in a healthy, happy way! Cannot say enough good things about Monte Vista!

"A cruise on Land" is how my son-in-law describes our living at MonteVista. We first discovered MonteVista because our Spanish class met here. We were very impressed and arranged a tour. We moved in this past May and absolutely love it. Facility is very well managed and the staff is absolutely amazing. Food is fantastic and the servers are incredible. We hope to enjoy many years here. We are in independent living but we know help is close when the time comes.

Monte Vista is a Excellent facility!! The nursing staff is great and very attentive! Food is great with several options. My mother has been here two times already for physical therapy to recover from her knee replacements. All the therapist are excellent. My mother has truly enjoyed being part of this caring and loving atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone that has a need for skilled nursing and rehabilitation needs. Excellent facilities in el paso texas are truly difficult to get in because they are always full or they are not in network with current insurances. But we are glad to have made the right decision to bring our mother to montevista. I would suggest no to go for looks but for the excellent caring and loving service such as the service they have provided at his facility.

My mother was here for several months after being treated at University Medical Center of El Paso. The staff and everyone did an amazing job with her. I would like to thank everyone involved in her care.

I went in October to Monte Vista at Coronado, looking for an accessible apartment in the Independent Living side for my parents. I spoke with Diana over the phone, explained the situation, that within the next 4-6 weeks my parents would be transferring over to EP from Harlingen, to seek better rehab and medical opportunities for my father. Diana made herself available almost immediately, and showed me 2 apartments - both beautiful, spacious, and so much more homier than the space my parents had been in for the past 9 months, plus the two options were both wheelchair / ADA accessible. The one that we ended up renting has the view of the Franklin Mountains, so the fact that my parents apartment has. a small patio/balcony area that over looks to these gorgeous giants - it's amazing! I truly didn't know all the wonderful 'extras' that would come from deciding to sign my parents up into this community. The food has been excellent - we can't be more pleased. The transportation shuttle, driven by Rob and Rosie (I might have her name wrong and I apologize!) I can't praise them enough -- having my dad dependent on a wheelchair, and my mom unable to drive due to vision issues, has left us unable to provide them with independent transportation. Thankfully, at MV they are just wonderful and so very punctual with the drop off and pick up. thank you! The receptionists are just lovely people each of them, friendly, respectful and so very helpful! The cleaning crew, and maintenance... thank you! My parents have only been here a month, and wow, the experience has been wonderfully surprising. What my siblings and I, and my mom and dad, have been blown away by is having the AgeAbility crew of Occupational and Physical Therapists working with my parents - Amanda and Nora, Jennifer and Daniel, and Cindy - (and I hope I'm writing everyones name as it is!!) I can't believe how lucky we've been to find this space in EP for my mom and dad. Within 10 days of being there, this amazing crew came over to my parents apartment to help them understand how my dad could use the space, and become more independent within it. We had no idea - it is the first time in 19 months after his stroke that we have this opportunity. That my dad is able to truly work on his rehab after over a year of very little to no opportunities. Plus I get to have them about 12 minutes away from my home! As of right now, I can't express fully how grateful I am for the opportunity of being part of MV. I hope that, as time goes by, I can add more details to this review that can be useful for caregivers, children of older parents, and just people trying to navigate senior living possibilities in EP. It's not easy at all to take this step - but do know there are options, and the Monte Vista is an amazing one for your loved one. Thanks Diana and everyone providing such wonderful living options and 'extras' for my parents, for all the residents at MV. Gracias de corazon!

It's a huge efficiency, but the most important thing that I noticed, the members are compassionate with the seniors, they provide one place with care and love.
November 2021
I have been employed doing maintenance at nursing homes in the past. I still have many bad memories of when I eye witnessed vile, unspeakable, and even illegal, things. When I was told at the hospital that I couldn't stay with them anymore and I couldn't go home, but that I had to go to a nursing home for my next treatments, I got sick inside. Literally. It didn't take long for me to realize that the Monte Vista nursing home was totally opposite of my expectations. The first thing I noticed was NO smells. We used to put Vick's vaporub under our noses just to be able to work without gagging. It was amazing for me to see how they all did their jobs there, in every department, with alacrity and compassion. Some patients needed a lot of extra care, and always cheerfully got it I never saw "not my job". I saw a nurse pick up a dinner tray, and a kitchen server help a patient into a wheelchair. Cross training at its best. I remember from before that such extra effort was actually not allowed! It wouuld always be "let me find somebody (else!) to help you". At Monte Vista the job culture was to always pitch in., unless the nurse had to do it.That first day I received a small parade of people in my room, with each explaining all the different details concerning my visit, and aspects of how their own particular jobs would fit in to the whole. Very informative and mind relieving. The building is laid out with access outside to walkways and a covered patio that hosts activities and the occasional cookout. There were also several activities inside to fill up some more time. Fine people led those different activities. The cuisine was uniformly delicious. Their ad said "restaurant style and quality". They were not kidding. The kitchen staff did everything they possiblity could to customize my diet. TIP:: never pass up on the soup. The activities director accomplished a couple of minor miracles on my behalf. It was a housekeeper who first noticed my naked butt and hurried to find me a second hospital gown to cover it. Above and beyond right there. The nurses and CNAs were all consistently special and on the ball. The boss of nurses responded to my only concern once, within the hour, so that was problem solved asap. The beauty parlor had a real pro who gave me a free first haircut. A doctor looked after everything. My particular stay was for physical therapy. Those guys knew what they were doing. Besides the regular therapy, one of them fixed a knot in my neck that I had been living with for ages. The hospital doctor. predicted a 2 or 3 month stay. The therapists cut that in half. They basically rotate around the patients, so I've been blessed enough to receive the benefits of different types of exercise and training. This training, I will remember, and will continue to use at home as long as I can. I don't believe the bad reviews. I never saw, or even heard about, anything like those things related by the one stars and I walked around constantly, at all hours of the day and night. Also, there are far too many 5 stars to dispute them. This walking was for the rehab, which everyone I passed in the hall encouraged. If, in the future, I am mandated for another stay in a nursing home, I will pray to get back into a bed over there.

For EXCEPTIONAL service I can only say one thing about The Monte Vista at Coronado. My mother has been there since 2013, and ALL of the staff care, and make a team effort for extraordinary care. It is as if you have your own family right there. Valerie (Concierge) will greet you, and goes beyond the normal duties of any person to help. We had an emergency, and she got us a ride to the Dr. within a 15 minute span. She knows every resident and what they are doing at every moment. Thanks Valerie! Robert the driver takes you to some errand that is included with the service. He gets that walker in the car within seconds; super sharp. Ron the Head Chef makes the best balanced meals, and they still have good old fashioned butter. Every meal is hand crafted, and put through timeless tests for taste and nutrition. I always gain some weight because the food is so good. Thanks Ron! Your parents, aunt, or whomever will be taken care of like I have never seen before. All the way to the pill givers, Rose got me some more sauce for my chicken, and the meal delivery was excellent. Jose got some extra butter pads, and did it with a smile. Everyone all the way through cares so much. Thank you for your 5 Star experience. Meredith H., Denver,CO

My Mom has lived at Monte Viste for over a year and she has been very happy with all the activities, the food, the great atmosphere and the outstanding service. Every time that me or my brother and sister visit we fully concur with my Mom. Two days ago during the morning while my brother was visiting and staying in the 2nd bedroom, my Mom suffered a massive aneurysm and she pushed the button on her emergency necklace. Lalo, the security officer came to the door immediately, saw my Moms situation, and called 911. The EMT responded within 4 minutes and they got my Mom to the hospital promptly. On behalf of my family, I want to personally thank Lalo for his prompt attention, caring and understanding during this traumatic event.

When my father was ready to move to independent living, we visited 3 other options and he did not care for them. The minute we walked into the Monte Vista for our appointment, he was impressed by the gorgeous lobby and the availability of cookies and coffee. He loved the spacious kitchen, bedroom and living area in his apartment. He Enjoyed the activities, performances and friendliness of residents and staff. The last year of his life he was able to stay in his apartment with 24 hour care. Food and service are top notch. Always a friendly, smiling, helpful person at the front desk. My dad was totally comfortable and happy at his new home. Eternally grateful.

Be forewarned, this is a self-serving review. Regardless, I have had the privilege to serve as the head servant (executive director) to the amazing team of people working at the MonteVista at Coronado for the past four years. This team demonstrates each day more than I could ever require; in genuine attention to individual residents, and through a patient and caring commitment to improving their lives. Each of the talented team members here provides fine examples for me to imitate. The opportunity to serve in the Five Star Senior Living family at the MonteVista is a gift greater than I deserve. I invite you to come and visit, see for yourself, and consider becoming another one to the very best people in all of Texas - the residents of the MonteVista, or one of the truly loving family members who are part of this community!
June 2019
Ive visited the community numerous times. The Independent Living section is huge, the apartments are a good size, and they have lots of activities throughout the day! In the Healthcare section, the DON, I think his name is Brent, handles patient, family concerns with such professionalism. Jeanne whom I believe is the ADON, is friendly and always on the move taking care of things. I can see that the staff truly care about their patients!!!

My father was at Monte Vista nursing home for only one month and our experience with everyone we encountered was exceptional. Exec Director Mike Heiner and Admissions Director Axel Vela were warm and welcoming. Nurses Emily Moran, Amanda and Brittney provided the most compassionate and loving care to my Dad our family. I highly recommend Monte Vista and will always be grateful to them.

My mother has lived here, and recently had the requirement for more care than the independent living here provided. When our family made this change, the management of the facility went out of their way to make sure that my mother did not have a lot of contractual obstacles to do so. Having experienced the transitions at other facilities and the both the internal red tape and contractual problems with those other facilities, it is very obvious that the facility understands that the care needed for elders is continuously changing for that individual, and they make sure that the they can act with the families to make those changes as easily as possible.
March 2019
Im currently doing clinicals at Monte Vista, and I highly recommend this facility for anyone looking for a LTCF for a loved one. Staff is amazing, and go the extra mile each time for the residents.
March 2019
As we transitioned my mother, Gloria D. Escobedo to Palliative care in March our families clear choice was to put her in the Montevista. We had worked with them a few years back when our father was placed on hospice care, we found the support and care provide to him was the same direction we wanted to take with our mother. My family and I would like to thank Axel, for the support he provided to us as we worked through the process of getting my mother there. The entire team at the Montevista worked seemelesy to not only take care of my mother but to also ensure that we as a family were given support. I can truly say that on my mothers last day on this earth she was treated with the utmost grace, dignity and respect. The team at the Montevista is to be commended for its professionalism and care. I just recently had my grandmother in our Health Care. Even though she was just there for less than 24 hours before she had to be sent out and died on the way to the hospital, my family and I are very grateful to the staff that helped to make her comfortable in her last hours. The patience, understanding and kind words expressed from the nurses, Vanessa, Jeanette and Anais were very much needed and appreciated. They made sure to check on my grandmother often , as did the aides who worked hard to make her as comfortable as possible. A special thanks to Axel Vega, the Admissions and Marketing Director who was very instrumental in helping my aunt to bring my grandmother here. He was always available to take my aunts calls when she had questions or was feeling overwhelmed. Axel went above and beyond to help our family in this great hour of need. Brent Richardson, the Director of Nursing and Jeannie Clevenger , the Assistant Director of Nursing were always available to answer any questions and to put our minds at ease. Brent and Jeannie were also very instrumental in sending out a Red Cross Message to my nephews platoon, so that he could come home and be a pall bearer at his great grandmothers funeral. When my aunt went by to pick up my grandmothers belongings during the weekend Brittany, the weekend Supervisor made sure she had some privacy to let her grieve. When my uncle spoke at the funeral, he let everyone know how grateful he was to the Montevista staff for delivering such outstanding care. Montevista and their staff will always be #1 in our hearts!

My mom & dad both moved to an apartment home at MonteVista last May. What I love about MonteVista are how the residents and the staff were friendlier than I ever imagined - they both feel at home now. There is so much going on with bridge for mom, the entertainers that come, and dont forget happy hour. Thanksgiving and the other special event dinners are beyond what you can ever get anywhere else. And the holiday decorating is Macys plus! There are just so many caring staff all around mom & dad - Valerie is amazing and the wait staff totally know the residents. We found an excellent home health provider that works so well with the community. Mom benefits from the in-house therapy, and Norma totally knows how to get mom participating. What a great solution for a fun home. This was all totally needed. Thanks MonteVista!

Our earliest introduction to MonteVista at Coronado occurred several months ago, in 2017, when we were still living in Santa Fe, NM. Since making our decision to move here as independent living people, we have dealt with Valorie and many others on many occasions. Diana and Mike have been more than helpful in making decisions where modifications of our 2-bedroom apartment have been made and other unexpected questions we have generated over the 3-4 weeks we have been living here. In addition to multiple helpful and friendly engagements with Valorie, that lovely receptionist, and Marlene, the other cordial receptionist, we have also been helped by Jorge, Emilio, and Jaime in moving-in, in building shelves in our two storerooms, in learning about the remote control light fixtures, and in answering many new-comers questions, and in Michelles dining room, we have been served by Ali, Jay, Jerry, Jose, and other courteous and genuinely interested wait staff members. Michelle runs a well functioning dining room. I dont know the name of our chef, but maybe it is Ron. Anyway, while I have not met him, I can say Bravo to his delicious meals. Our quarters are above what we expected and we do feel at home here and in El Paso, after an absence of 24 years (in another city). We think of MonteVista in superlative terms every day. I came to Monte Vista for therapy and rehabilitation from a hospital stay and couldnt be more pleased. My daughter picked the place and we actually live on the other side of town and had many other rehabitation facilities we could have chosen... We chose Monte Vista because of our previous experience friendly and caring staff! The staff have great customer service skills and go the extra distance for me! If I or my wife ever need rehabilitation again well certainly be back.

I moved into the MonteVista at Coronado four years ago because of its amenities: spacious, well planned and comfortable apartments with complete if compact and updated kitchens and baths, good food in an attractive dining room, a social lounge and a recreation room, on a large beautifully landscape lot in a quiet residential area. I found so much more. I found real comradeship: we are not just ‘residents here at MonteVista, we are a welcoming, caring community who socialize, who dine together, who communicate and who genuinely like and respect each other. Living at MonteVista may not have added years to my life (though I suspect that it has) but has surely enhanced the life Ive had here each and every day.
July 2018
I would highly recommend this facility to friends and family. The staff is wonderful to work with. They care about their patients and are ready to help in any way they can.
July 2018
Of course no place is perfect. But the MonteVista is really trying to get there. I really enjoy the excellent meals and variety of menu items. The wait staff are so friendly and prompt - EllieAnne is excellent. I am very comfortable in my Short Stay furnished apartment while my 2 bedroom apartment is being prepared for me to my specifications. Thanks to George, the Maintenance Director. And Carmen (my housekeeper) does a really good job. The driver Erika has rescued me twice - once I would have been at the ER for hours had she not known how to get them to move it. The PT and OT therapists have really helped me since I moved in last month. How convenient to have this in house therapy for the Independent Living customers. Im staying!

Just got home from another visit to the Montevista to see my mother and father in law. They have it made! Their housekeeper Myra was at their apartment home. she is so patient with them, and does an amazing job keeping the entire apartment looking like new. Got to look at the menu again today - no wonder my sister always wants to join me when I go to visit for lunch! Our favorite part is coming to have Sunday brunch and spend some time together. Christian is amazing at making spinach omelettes just how I like (even though I am just a guest), and he is so friendly with all the families! Ellianne the waitress even knows our names. My mother in law can be pretty picky sometimes, but she is happier than I have seen her in years. She never misses Happy Hour with all her new friends. I have never seen so many happy people having such a good time together. Thank goodness we found the Montevista!
May 2018
My cousin was admitted to the Rehab to Home at Montevista at Coronado following a hospitalization. My cousin loves the meals at Montevista. I dont think any other rehab facility in El Paso has a menu like this. Barbara with the dining staff is so helpful in making sure she has just what she needs. Terry, the afternoon CNA is so helpful. My cousin really appreciates the verbal encouragement from the staff and actually told me I feel Safe here. My niece and I noticed that the room is clean every day when we visit, and everyone is smiling. We know that the therapy staff have helped so much with making progress so we can go home in the near future.
March 2018
My wife and I live in Independent Living at the Monte Vista - we love our beautiful apartment. Unfortunately my wife was recently in the hospital for a few days. I am so thankful that there is a rehab facility right here at the Monte Vista. I was able to be there for her each day. The therapy staff are excellent. Ron is a great therapist. The nursing staff were so caring. Irma, Aida, Albert, Lourdes, Lisa (and many others who I cant remember all their names) did such a good job. Brent, the head of the Rehab has really trained the staff well, and he personally checked in on us several times. Now my wonderful bride of 63 years and I are back together again in our apartment home - thanks to the therapists, the nursing staff and our caring physician, Dr. Arianna Bender. Life is good again.

WOW! I lost an expensive earring in the dining room while dining with my mom. That night I was called to tell me that they found my earring! What a great honest staff! Not to mention, I am so greatful how happy my mom has been since she moved there a year ago. She made great friends and has a lot of fun with the activities. We love that place!

- Schedule a tour and visit the physical location to make sure community description is accurate.
- Confirm with community manager that living and services required for you or your loved one's unique needs and budget are met.
- Check with state government websites for additional provider licensing and information.
If there is any information that is inaccurate or needs to be updated, please contact Assisted Living Center.
Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
