I recently toured Hunters Woods at Trails Edge while looking for the right assisted living fit for my 94-year-old mother, and I was thoroughly impressed. The community immediately stands out for its modern design and immaculate cleanliness, but it was the welcoming atmosphere that truly made an impact. Saba provided an exceptional, informative tour. It was clear from our time together that she is genuinely invested in the well-being of the residents. She took the time to explain not just the amenities, but the heart of the care provided here. One of the most reassuring parts of the tour was when Saba described how closely the wellness team monitors residents. Knowing that frequent assessments are conducted to recognize even small changes in a resident’s health provides immense peace of mind for any family member. During the visit, I also had the chance to interact with a member of the wellness team, who came across as both kind and extremely competent. Across both the independent and assisted living areas, the residents seemed genuinely happy, engaged, and”most importantly”at home. The monthly activities calendar is also impressive, featuring a wide range of on-site and local events that ensure residents can stay active and connected. If you are looking for a community that balances a beautiful environment with high-standard, proactive care, I highly recommend scheduling a tour with Saba.

My mother just moved into. Saba was very sweet and generous when we came in to tour the community. She made accommodations for us to eat lunch despite the dining hall closed for lunch. She is a very kind soul. My mom is a bit of a foodie and she was impressed by the food. Marcia was very helpful with the move in process. We have had some trouble with another facility with uncaring caregivers so time will tell if I feel at peace leaving my mom in their hands. My mom has made peace with the process and is now comfortable eating in the dining hall and socializing. I am proud of her! Assisted living is over the top expensive so the expectations are high.

This review is for the staff at Hunters Woods at Trails Edge. Ultimately we moved my mom to a different location but everyone at Hunters Woods was so wonderful and they deserve the recognition. We went through the whole process and only changed plans at the last minute due mainly to location, my family decided that they really wanted to stay in Maryland. From the very first phone call with Dawn, I was met with compassion. During an incredibly hard time everyone made this as easy as possible. I felt that everything was well explained, I was able to tour the facility and meet the director of the area my mom would have moved into. The programs were clearly described and the atmosphere was warm and pleasant. The nurse that completed my mom’s assessment was also fantastic and made my mom feel very comfortable. Even when my parents ultimately decided to go another direction, we’ve been met with kindness and understanding. Thank you so much to Dawn, Marcia, and everyone else! You helped make a very emotional time much less stressful!

I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel the need to share what happened when my dad had a heart attack while riding his bike. He couldn’t move his body to go for help, but this angel of a person, Milkan, pulled over, called 911, and stayed with him until help arrived. Thanks to her quick actions my dad was taken to the hospital as soon as possible, which made all the difference.According to my dad, her name was Milkan. The police officer who arrived before the ambulance was asking her some questions, and she mentioned that she had just come from work and that she works at Hunters Woods at Trails Edge. My dad, who thinks she is around 18 years old with curly hair, is forever grateful for her kindness and fast thinking. I can’t thank her enough for what she did for my dad. This kind of care and dedication shows how much she values helping others, and we are so fortunate that she was there that day. Thank you, Milkan for being our angel.

The HWTE team recognizes that they are working in someone's home and act with kindness, compassion, and consideration. They are truly partners in the caregiving process. From our experience, there is nothing more important than the caregiving team and this team communicates well; provides thoughtful and individual care; and is friendly and shares some of their personal experiences so that it feels like a community and not a facility. Lastly, the Wellness team is very knowledgeable and experienced so that they can help families recognize changes in their loved ones. The building is beautifully maintained. There are numerous activities on-site and opportunities for shopping and culture experiences off-site. The balconies offer a shaded view of the trees that make Reston such a comfortable and peaceful home. The leadership team is 100% there for families and employees. They lead by example with the same thoughtful attention to detail and compassion. As a caregiver and advocate, I feel like I have found partners in caring for my loved one. It is scary to trust someone else to care for your loved ones, whether young or old, but I have confidence in HWTE. I appreciate what they have taught me about healthcare and the aging process so that I can be a better caregiver and advocate too.

My family member has been a resident at Hunters Woods since November 7, 2019. He was the fourth person to move into the Assisted Living side and the first on his floor. We had to fly him to DC from AZ and our arrival was late. Nevertheless, we were welcomed by a group of 8 staff who had stayed late to be there. The staff has continued to provide a friendly atmosphere and top notch support for our entire family. The other residents are friendly and welcoming as well. The business office head and the maintenance and housekeeping department heads are their "rock stars," in my opinion. The local administrators have handled COVID and its aftermath well. From checking in with Kim, the Executive Director who always acknowledges me. I come from the home health world where we provide home base services. I will recommend Hunters Woods at Trails Edge to our clients and any person who needs peace of mind and assurance that their loved ones will be well cared for. Seth is an amazing human being and is always rounding to ensure that his residents are doing well as well as the new memory care nurse (Silvia) who is God sent. They also have a new Memory care director who has really brought more energy and has also enhance their program and residents' participation. Great facility. You can feel at home as soon as you walk into the facility. The Administrator's office door is always open and acknowledges me anytime I walk in to visit my Uncle. There are some people in the world who go to work, do their jobs and go home. Others take those jobs to whole new level entirely. We thank the leadership team and entire staff at Hunters Woods at Trails Edge for the care that was so beautifully provided to my Uncle. When you carefully clean shaved our uncle's face or spoke words of comfort, you may not have realized it, but your actions not only touched him, but in turn all of us. My mother relocated from South Jersey and moved into HWTE 3.5 years ago and has been extremely happy. Even during COVID lockdown, when I wasn't permitted to enter the building, she would let me know that the staff were always friendly, helpful and had a sense of humor. While there has been a high staff turnover, primarily due to COVID, there has been one person that is a gem and makes EVERYONE happy - and that's Theo, Hospitality Service Director. He works in both IL and AL and can be seen running all over - but always with a smile and kind word, and never too busy that he won't stop and greet or assist someone. And, he's the bartender for Friday Night Happy Hour and is a big part of its continual success. There have been times that Theo has been off, but comes in specifically to bartend because he knows how much everyone loves it and he does too! HWTE gives me peace of mind knowing that while my mom is in Independent Living, the outstanding staff always have an eye out and make sure she's doing well.

Hunters Woods is beautifully decorated with stunning paintings from local artists and the apartments have all brand new appliances and are very comfortable. There are multiple common living room areas inside and out for people to gather and the amenities are amazing..... gym, PT room, hair salon, library, and activity rooms. The front desk staff, house keepers, and dining servers as well as kitchen staff are all very friendly and helpful. All that being said, our mother has lived at Hunters Woods for nearly two years now. Overall she is very happy and she has developed wonderful friendships, however, there are several issues that people should be aware of if they are considering becoming a resident. When my parents and I toured with a member of the marketing team, one of their primary concerns was the cost. My parents were told that ANY annual increase would be CAPPED at 5%. They moved into Hunters Woods in June 2021 and in November 2021 (5 months later) they were presented a bill with a 9% increase in rent. After having several conversations with the management team, during which they acknowledged the 5% cap that had been offered to my parents, the rate increase was reduced to 6%. Then this December, our mother was presented with a bill with an 8% increase and again we found ourselves in the position of advocating for a lower increase and reminding the management of the initial promise that had been made to our parents. They have never honored the 5% annual cap that had been a significant part their decision to sign their initial contract, although they have given a small reduction of the increase. Another VERY important issue for people who are considering residency has to do with the acoustics of the building. If you or your family member has a hearing loss and/or wears hearing aids be aware that there are major issues with being able to hear in the dining room, the Bistro, and in the theater. The staff will talk to you about their "T coil" system, but this has never consistently or effectively worked. Our mother often becomes depressed while at dinner, or Happy Hour in the Bistro, or at events in the theater because, even with her hearing aids (which have T coil) she is unable to hear people speaking in those environments. When she is in her apartment, she can hear fine with her hearing aids. We have tried to address these issues many times with the staff and nothing has been done to improve the acoustics in the dining area or the theater. This is a major and continuing concern.

In this stressful process communication is key, she always took my call, email or text. I thought the place was perfect for dad. I've been helping my mother find an independent living option recently. We've visited a few sites and browsed a few more; Hunters Woods at Trails Edge was the best. It's not even close. The location is great. They are situated right next to a paved footpath that connects to miles of trails, one of which takes you to a shopping center with a Safeway just across the street (you can use the footpath to cross the street via a tunnel under the road if you want to avoid the (well-marked) crosswalk). Mom's room has a northern exposure that looks out on a greenway, making for a great view. The apartment itself is clean and spacious, with an up-to-date kitchen, open bath, and built in Washer and Dryer. As great as the building is, it pales next to the staff. Everyone that we've met - WITHOUT EXCEPTION - has been friendly and helpful. Whether it's Sherry or Trachelle patiently answering one of our myriad questions, or Vanessa cheerfully helping us stage items for Mom's move-in, or Ahmed swapping out a malfunctioning dishwasher in under an hour, we have seen nothing but kindness and smiles from everyone. I could go on with the list of amenities and services that they offer, but Sherry does is so much better than I ever could. At the end of the day, finding a place for a parent can be emotionally draining. Even when independent living is the best option for everyone there's always a sense of guilt, and a desire to make sure that Mom (or Dad) is in a safe and comfortable space, with caring people around them. I really think we've found that place, and Mom's excited to move in. I'll update this review in a few months to let you know how Mom likes it.

Many positive outcomes have occurred here at Hunters Woods at Trails Edge so my initial review in 2021 deserves to be updated. Three or four significant management changes have occurred that eliminated the ambiguities in the wellness staff. In fact, their performance has been remarkable. Today, 97% of calls from residents are answered in less than two minutes. The food is still exceptional. Housekeeping, Maintenance, our Dining Experience including portion management, the. Wellness services, Business Operations, The Welcoming Team and Marketing are all working guard to establish Hunters Woods at Trails Edge as the premier Assisted Living facility in the Northern Virginia Metro area. With the cooperation of a very effective and influential Resident Council, we believe that we have achieved important criteria of that goal already and that we are well on our way to accomplishing all criteria. We have an exceptionsl redidents, an excellent management team, and faclity. Come by. Check us out. You are going to like what you see and hear. I am glad that I live here.

The building looks impressive, and the staff was super friendly. I met with Executive Director William, who gave my sister and me a community tour. William was very friendly and knowledgeable. This community is BEAUTIFUL, with bright, spacious apartments and lots of great amenities. In addition to all the modern upgrades in appliances and finishes, the apartments feature wonderful Universal Design elements to keep residents independent: such as step-less/roll-in showers and pocket doors with easy-to-grab handles. The staff is equally excellent - Sherry even took time out of her day to take measurements of an apartment for us so we could design accurate floor plans for our downsizing clients. Thank you!

The moment I stepped into Hunters Woods I knew this was going to be my mother in laws new home. It just felt right. I met with Sherry Berk the Community Relations Director and received a very thorough tour. She put us at ease with all of our concerns. The professionalism continued throughout the process once we made the commitment to make the move. The assessment done by Seth Wirekoh the Resident Wellness Director and Parween Nooruddin the Assistant Executive Operations Officer was so professional with attention to detail. Once the decision was made Riley Costellia the Community Relations Assistant had just a few hours to throw all necessary paperwork together and did it in record time. Literally less then 24 hours turnaround... AMAZING! The very next day the move in went very smooth! I was finally able to bring her over to her new home and she was greeted by so many staff members which made her feel really good! THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THE ENTIRE HUNTERS WOODS STAFF!!!!!

I moved here with my little dog to independent living, in December, 2020, in the midst of a pandemic. My family and I were grateful for the safety measures they put in place to keep us safe. Our mother moved in a couple of months back. The facility is beautiful. The staff goes out of their way to help. It is clear they have made some changes that have created better communication and greater understanding for residents. We have seen some of those changes come in and are extremely impressed. It is a pretty new place, Covid was tough on all assisted living facilities. Still we have seen them make changes to eliminate any concerns we have had. I visited Hunters Woods at Trails Edge after it was recommended by several friends that have family members who are residents there. I toured the community with Sherry Berk, the Community Relations Director and was really impressed with just about everything I saw. The apartments were modern, beautiful and had everything a person would need to live comfortably. There were support staff everywhere, multiple amenity rooms, balconies, social areas and even a barber shop! Every inch of the place was pristine and they clearly put a lot of effort into the aesthetic feel of the spaces to provide residents with a safe and welcoming environment.

My family and I toured Hunters Woods last week and we couldn't have been more impressed with the staff. Parween, our tour guide, was fantastic. Her friendly personality really made us feel welcome. She answered our many questions and was a wonderful resource for us. Parween, along with Chef Kyle (thanks for the delicious lunch!), Eduardo (Director of Dining Services), and Paul (Activities Director) all made us feel like we were part of a close-knit community. We truly enjoyed our time with them. The building itself is brand-new and the Independent Living units are a good size. What we liked most is that every unit has an outside patio with a great view! We also liked the Assisted Living units. They were also spacious and well-designed, and you can imagine living a life of dignity and respect even if you need extra assistance in this stage of your life. All in all, a wonderful place!

I was searching for senior living properties for my parents. From the moment we first stepped on the property to the moment we left, is was a lovely experience. Our tour was given by Sherry Berk. She is amazing! She was welcoming, kind, caring and very informative. This property immediately felt like home. It felt safe, comfortable, tranquil, and clean. Great floor plan options for apartments. Many wonderful amenities. The property is nestled in a wooded area with walking trails. It's in close proximity to shops and restaurants. The best senior living property I have seen in the DMV!

We considered Hunters Woods at Trails Edge for my aging father and fell in love with the community and the staff. While we ultimately went with a different, out-of-town option based on proximity to other family, we were so impressed with our reception that we wanted to post a review anyways. Riley, Sherry and the rest of the team were incredibly helpful throughout the application process, understanding and flexible with our timing considerations, and kept us up to date on all the latest protocols/procedures related to COVID19 prevention. We regret that my dad won't be joining the community but will always keep Hunters Woods in mind in the future. Thank you to the full team!

HWTE generally satisfies my needs; it is close to my family and friends, the facilities are comfortable, the meals are generally good albeit too much frequently (would like plain old hot dogs and cheeseburgers more frequently. The maintenance and safety, housekeeping/hospitality, Perry and Brad, and dining staff are outstanding. The Medical Team seems to be in constant flux, but most that I have met are extremely helpful and courteous. Riley, Paul, Karen, and Erica are exceptional. The vast majority of the residents are a pleasurer to associate with.

This place is gorgeous. The staff is friendly and the facility is so modern, you'd think you're in a different century. I was impressed with this inside so much I had to take pictures. This Reston facility hosts a lot of retirees and people that need assistance, but it's worth the expense. It was my first visit and I was amazed at how well maintained this facility is.

This is a beautiful community! It has every imaginable amenity and the apartment sizes are larger than I expected. The staff seemed very welcoming and the current residents seem very happy. I would recommend that anyone interested in Senior living schedule a tour! Great experience!
