Edith, a Merry Heart Administrator, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable during my husband’s stay at Merry Heart as well as after his discharge. She was very compassionate and understanding in every way. She provided an excused absence letter for my job as well as offering many suggestions in helping get him the services that he needed. She made great suggestions for things that I had not even thought of that would be a great assistance to him. He said he especially enjoyed working with the therapists who were very motivating and the aides were very attentive to his needs. The entire staff was extremely supportive and encouraging. The breakfasts, lunches, and dinners were delicious and varied. He especially enjoyed the barbecue pulled pork, the chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and the awesome desserts like the chocolate cream pie. It was also very thoughtful the way there was iced tea, coffee, and sandwiches for the patients and their families. GREAT WORK TEAM MERRY HEART’’™’™©’’™’™©™

As a performing musician, i play guitar and sing for both the Assisted Living and Senior Care residences. Merry Heart is a clean and inviting facility. The staff are attentive and caring with the residents. Meals are personalized based on each resident’s need and there is a dietician on site. There are daily activities planned for all levels of care to engage community members in art, physical and cognitive areas to promote social interaction. My husband was a long time resident in long term care there and our family was happy with the care he received. I have had the opportunity to perform musically for the three Merry Heart facilities over the last six months, and I would strongly recommend them for anyone considering long-term care for themselves or for a loved one. Although I’m a physician by profession, I was able to evaluate the residents from a different standpoint with an hour of songs and interpersonal interaction. They are well cared for and in good spirits. The staff is very attentive and each of the three buildings Is clean and organized. I have visited other nursing homes in Northern New Jersey with this musical review,and I find Merry Heart to be among the best. Ms. Nicole Dunster, the activities director, is superb in her role in helping the residents to get the most enjoyment out of every day, despite the physical and psychological challenges they must deal with as senior citizens. I feel certain Merry Heart should be at the top of the list or anyone looking for a long-term care facility for their loved ones.

I highly recommend Merry Heart Assisted Living to anyone looking for quality assisted care for their loved one. My mother could be a very difficult person to deal with but all of the staff at Merry Heart treated her with kindness and respect, even at her most difficult moments, and there were quite a few of them! Mom's health was regularly monitored and any changes were relayed to me. Whenever I got upset about something with my mother, the staff was there to support me, as well. They understand the difficult dynamics of trying to care for your loved one while still attending to your own life. The facility is kept very clean and the seasonal/holiday decorations are constantly changing to add a bright and cheery atmosphere to the building. Even the exterior of the building has seasonal changes of flowers and shrubs that are well cared for and an enclosed garden patio with a waterfall feature that is relaxing to sit by on sunny days. According to my mother, the food was very good, too, and she did not give out compliments lightly. There were daily activities that she could join in on when she wanted or skip if she wasn't in the mood. There were themed parties and musicians that came to play for the residents. They even have hair stylists that come in once a week! I thoroughly researched assisted living facilities in northern NJ for my mother and I can definitively say that Merry Heart is the place for your loved one if you want peace of mind. I am so happy we chose them!

I had an opportunity to visit the Merry Heart Assisted Living facility during a holiday open house. It Is a lovely facility, very warm and welcoming. The staff that I met were professional, and came across as very caring towards their residents. During the open house, several of the residents were participating in some fun activities, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I left with the impression that their residents are well cared for.

I recently had a pleasure of experiencing the exceptional care provided by Merry Heart Nursing Home for my mom, and I could not be more satisfied! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this facility stands out. The staff treated her with such love and care, making her feel like a family. The food was superb, reflecting the attention to detail and quality in everything they do. Moreover, every staff member we encountered was incredibly nice, warm, and caring, contributing to a truly supportive environment. What really sets Merry Heart Nursing Home apart is its family-owned nature, which is evident in the hands-on approach taken by the owner in caring for the residents. It's rare to find a place that combines professional excellence with such personal touch. My heartfelt thanks to everyone at MH for making such a positive difference in our lives. My husband was in Merry Heart for rehab twice after 2 hospital stays. Because I found the staff caring, I was interested in transferring him from his current assisted living facility. However, the admission process has been a nightmare. While my husband was there, I met with the Director of Admissions and received an application. When she asked about ability to pay, I told her I had long-term care (LTC) insurance, and needed to get their approval first before applying. I also had to give his current facility 30 days notice. I asked LTC to send the paperwork, and verified with the person responsible for completing the forms that he received them. Several weeks later, LTC sent me a letter telling me that despite several attempts to contact Merry Heart, they were unable to do so. As a result, they closed my request. I then contacted the person who had the forms, and he said he lost them. I contacted the Director of Admissions, who said she wasn't his supervisor. I then contacted the Head Administrator. She never returned any of my voicemail. I then brought in the letter from the LTC and the concierge had me write down the situation and attach it to the letter. She said she would pass it on to the Head, but once again she never got back to me. Two weeks later, I decided to take the high road and make one more call to the Head Administrator. She had the Director of Admissions call me back to tell me the person never received the forms, which I knew was untrue. She also said I was supposed to complete the application first, which was contrary to our initial discussion. In addition, she said that my husband would have needed to be evaluated, but this could have been done in the 3+ weeks he was already there. It has now been almost 2 1/2 months since I began this process, and I am still at square one. Good communication is key to a good relationship, and this hasn't happened. A person needs to have a warm and fuzzy feeling when placing a loved one in a facility, and I have anything but.

The staff are very caring, and the facility is very clean and bright. After spending the first 5 days in their adult day care, I can already see positive changes in my mom who is 93 years old!
