When reading reviews, make sure they are current. 1-2 years ago this place was amazing. All the staff was amazing. After Gena left, it's not been the same. Cannot get management to return calls. Cannot address any facility issues like dirty floors and bathrooms. Management has lowered their standards for hiring good care givers that care givers that want to work hard and make a difference in an elderly person's life. Not everyone there is bad but even the few ruin it for my mother!

This place was awesome! Nursing staff was fabulous. They helped my dad in the last remaining month of his life. He was treated well and got to do what he wanted. However, There was a hiccup with returning a refund to me. Michelle, the office manager, was fabulous with keeping me updated. When Michelle had gone on vacation. I called the executive director for DAYS and left messages, and she never returned a phone call. Very unprofessional of her. Otherwise, this place would be 5 stars.

If you take your loved one to Sunrise of Farmington, be prepared to watch them decline very quickly. Kathy, the director, should get a new job. She is a bully with a God complex. Who is she to tell me that I can only visit my dear mother once a week for no more than an hour. She even picked the day for me. I was also told by Kathy, the director, that I had to limit my phone calls to once a week. If you challenge Kathy you and your loved one will be punished. Our punishment was that my 89 year old mother was sent to Pontiac Hospital psych ward for approximately 5-6 weeks. She was sent with no change of clothes. Kathy claims it was a medication review. If you call the state on Kathy and they have concerns enough to have a meeting with an advocate, Kathy and myself, she sends your loved one to another Sunrise facility. This is a pattern with Kathy being a bully. I know it’s a pattern with Kathy because a daughter of a patient saw me coming out of Kathys office crying. She slipped me her number and whispered “call me.” I called her and found out she also was brought to tears by Kathy for having concerns about her mother. My mother no longer could do crafts, we no longer could enjoy a cup of coffee in the cafe, we were banned from the tv room. These were Kathys orders. Kathy didn’t like the amount of time I was spending with my mother. She didn’t like me asking questions why my mother could no longer hold her head up. I have videos to back this all up. She didn’t like me questioning why my mothers ankles and legs were so swollen. Kathy told me I had no rights when it came to my mother because I did not have POA. The brother who had POA lives 4.5 hours away. Kathy did not know that her statement was not true. I have POA for her medical. She’s an awful person. Sadly my mother passed away shortly after being sent to psych ward for a second time, lasting approximately 3 weeks. I believe that if she wasn’t sitting alone in a ward for three weeks with only short visits from me , she may still be with me. My mother was a wonderful person who deserved to be treated with dignity and compassion. Unfortunately, these concepts are lost on Kathy. She is a threat to anyone in her care. If you’re reading this, I will be doing a review of Bloomfield Sunrise next.

The staff at Sunrise are SO full of love. I stopped in briefly recently and from the moment I stepped in, until the moment I left all you could feel was love. You know your family is in good hands when the staff is doing everything in their power to get all their “business” work done and they still take time to chat and build meaningful relationships and trust with their residents. We researched places to get assistance for my Mom and settled on Sunrise NorthFarmington Hills. My family was impressed with the cleanliness and family atmosphere that we saw. We have been assisted and comforted at every step along the way. I can’t recommend this staff and facility enough.

My parents joined Sunrise Farmington Hills three years ago, and my mom is now in the Reminiscence memory care neighborhood. The community is attractive and very clean. The staff, to a person, has bent over backwards to make her feel comfortable, secure and cared for. They greet me like family when I walk through the front door. There are staff dedicated to activities, geared to each resident’s abilities. My mother’s care staff (including specially trained “med-techs” who meticulously manage daily medicine administration) work hard and are always willing to respond to my requests. The nursing staff is knowledgeable, gentle, and very patient with both my mom and me. I am glad I chose Sunrise Farmington Hills.

The facility is attractive and well maintained and the staff is responsive to resident and family needs. They are beginning to reinstate the activities such as musical entertainment which were curtailed during the pandemic. The cookouts on summer holidays and buffets for cold weather holidays to which family are invited have been delicious and lots of fun. The in house nursing staff and contract health care professionals (docs, PTs, podiatrist, RNs) have taken excellent care of my mother. I had to move her here from another facility which was wretched bordering on life threatening. That was 4 years ago and she's in better shape now than she was then. We are both very happy with Sunrise.

I have been so pleased with the care that my mom has received here in the Reminisce area. The Care Managers are so caring toward the residents, and mom is really happy here. There are luncheon outings, daily exercise, crafts, and many other activities that the residents can participate in if they chose. The area is comfortable and homey with a dining area, kitchen, and living room area along with a sunroom right in the Reminisce area. I visit often, and I feel so welcome when I am there. It feels like family. In fact, this IS family to mom, and I rest easier knowing that she is with people who really care. It's a difficult decision to place a parent in any type of assisted living, but I'm confident that we made the correct decision in selecting this Sunrise facility.

From the receptionist to the housekeeper manager... And everyone in between where so friendly and very helpful! They made us feel right at home. Mom loves it there and it's only day 3! They go on many outings, play bingo and many other actives! She is very active and loves it at Sunrise!! 🙂 Thank you, Sunrise..I no longer have to worry .
