October 2024
My companion has been at Ivy Park Oakland in their Evergreen memory care for 5 months. I'm am so impressed with the care here. The care givers are kind, attentive and loving. The activities (dancing, painting) and the view is outstanding! The food is good, too. I can't say enough good things about this place. We highly recommend it for your loved one.

I just wanted to say how grateful I am to the staff at Ivy Park at Oakland Hills for taking such good care of my Mom Julie and her little dog Bella over the last two-and-a-half months. They are unfailingly kind, thoughtful and cheerful there. Mom says the people are nice and the food is good, and she has no complaints! There are attractive outdoor spaces around the facility as well as nice rooms and a large common room and dining room on the memory care floor. Scheduled activities go on all day there for those who want to participate, including a great concert that Mom and I got to listen to together for a bit. I especially like that they have dedicated med techs giving the medicines, as we had problems with caregivers from Mom's last home-care company making repeated medication administration errors with both Mom and Dad. It gives me great peace of mind to know that mom's in the care of real professionals now and in pleasant surroundings. If you're looking for a safe and attractive place for your loved one in Oakland, CA, give Ivy Park a look.

Great facility.

My mother was at Sunrise of Oakland Hills for 12 years. Despite her dementia, she was able to live on the main floor area the entire time, and she was a very opinionated person and would tell me periodically that "they are very good to me here", and "I am very lucky that we found this place". She was well cared for, encouraged to participate in activities and outings. As her only child, I was comfortably in the loop with my mother's care and day to day participation, capabilities, and issues. I believe sunrise of Oakland hills did such a good job that she lived to almost 96 and was cheerful and happy for all of it.

Such a lovely place, the staff is amazing
October 2023
My mother at 101 years old and with dementia needs the best of care and that is what she has been receiving for the past 16 years since she moved to Sunrise. I should know as I'm there at least several times a week and have seen the kindness and friendliness of the staff, many of whom have been there this whole time. I am particularly impressed with all the activities, the quizzes, the games, movies and music that they make available and also the energy with which they make sure everyone is included. I cannot express how happy we as a family are that our mother is in such a fine place - and she's always busy and happy too.

Choosing the right senior care residence is not easy. The care from my experience has been great and when there are problems the staff have been engaged in fixing the issues.

I continue to refer friends to Sunrise of Oakland Hills for support groups, learning about senior care, and of course for people looking for a home and care for their parents. I have other colleagues and friends who have had great experiences having their mom live in Sunrise of Oakland Hills. I even hear names of the same caregivers that have been there for years. It's a small world and somehow, Sunrise of Oakland Hills keeps coming up...or maybe its just that time in life when we have to think about these things for loved ones.

Sunrise assisted living is a a great place for my mother. Friendly, approachable management and staff all constantly working hard to care for my mother and make her comfortable. The nice folks working at sunrise: Cheryl, Dillon , Mildred , Neseba , Ally, Gwen, Cindy and nurse Bernadette, plus all the other staff, go above and beyond to care for the residency's. My family and I highly recommend Sunrise as a place for your parents.

The decision to move Mom here 5 years ago is one that I have never regretted. Everyone here has her, and our families, best interest at heart and continues to work as her advocate like extended family. Special recognition goes out to Cheryl Laven, who continues to go above and beyond her job description when it comes to Moms wellbeing and my piece of mind. The facility itself is impeccably appointed with special attention placed on holidays and an overall sense of inclusiveness. Staff are friendly, caring, personable, and ever patient with her declining mental acuity. She and I are very fortunate to have made what initially was a tough decision into something that will result in great memories. At 98 years of age, she couldn't be in a better place.

My husband, Frank, has been in the Sunrise of Oakland Hills Memory Care Neighborhood for 3 years. It was not an easy decision to make because my sons and I were very confident in providing him loving quality care using both home care and Adult Day Care. However, as safety became an issue, we had to rethink other options. Sunrise was selected for several reasons: 1. Close proximity to our home, just 5 minutes away 2. Visiting many support sessions, I was able to discuss so many aspects of dementia and Alzheimers with other family members 3. Visiting in Memory Care, I observed the level of care for the residents given by the caregivers 4. Activities to promote stimulation was varied and apparent Now 3 years later, my sons and I continue to be pleased and happy with Frank's care. We also play a role in it. I am very involved with Frank, visiting frequently and I love the relationship I am building with the administration and the amazing caregivers. My "kudos" as well as "concerns" are frequently shared and all receive ready responses. Sunrise of Oakland Hills is definitely our choice for Frank's care! We are thankful! Silver, Dan, & Matt White

Sunrise has been amazing to work with from day 1. We needed to find good memory care for Mom and the comparison with other places was incredibly better in every aspect. Across the board from outstanding service to med detail to excellent food & extremely caring personnel (Cheryl, Micah, Gigi, Bernadette, Cindee) we continue to be impressed & thankful. A tough transition was made so much easier thanks to their help & support.

My sister and I toured Sunrise with Cheryl yesterday. Not only is Sunrise an extremely beautiful place, but Cheryl made the whole experience so much less stressful and scary than it otherwise could have been. Contemplating a whole new life for my beloved dad is overwhelming. It also can be extremely sad. After going to see Sunrise, I felt less stressed and actually optimistic for my dad. Cheryl could not have been more helpful. She was a great listener, she was patient, kind. She took us to see all of the different layouts of rooms. She did not make us feel rushed nor pressured. She was honest and up front. If you are looking for a place for your loved one, I would highly recommend going for a tour at Sunrise. It was a really good experience for us.

Cheryl Laven, Director of Sales at Sunrise of Oakland Hills, is amazing. It has been a year since we met Cheryl, and she continues to impress us in many ways. She was an invaluable part of our decision making process to choose Sunrise for our father. Her warm, friendly, knowledgeable manner put us at ease and helped us feel sure we were doing the right thing. Throughout this first year of living at Sunrise, my dad had ups and downs, but he could always count on Cheryl's kindness. When I spend time at Sunrise with my dad, I observe Cheryl addressing residents by their first names, seeming to know everyone and what is important to them. She asks questions and is genuinely interested in how residents are doing. I really appreciate how easy it is to connect with Cheryl. She makes time to answer questions and help solve problems that have nothing to do with sales. Knowing Cheryl is at Sunrise is comforting and important to us.
March 2023
Our family's experience with the Oakland Sunrise was very positive. My mother moved there about a year before Covid and the community was very active and she was very happy. She fell and required special assistance dressing and getting around and the nurses and care givers were great to work with during that period. I was very impressed by the way that they navagated the response to the pandemic. While I was not allowed to visit, i was always special to receive a staff initiated FaceTime call from my mother. The line staff was caring and the senior staff - most of my contact was with Cheryl, who made things special by doing things like organizing voter registration so that anyone that wanted to was able to vote. Cheryl was always accessable when there were questions about how to navagate things and went above and beyond after my mother passed away and we needed to vacate. My only negative was the automatic/online billing system, which seemed to change several times during our tenure but hopefully that is sorted out by now.
February 2023
My mother has been at Sunrise for six months and she constantly lets me know how much she likes it. She always has nice things to say about the staff, and I too am pleased at how helpful and friendly they are. In addition, her private room is kept spotless and has views across the bay, which she really enjoys. When I visit, she always has something new to talk about—a movie she watched the night before, a meal she liked or the latest crossword puzzle the staff had given her.
January 2023
My husband has been a resident of Sunrise Oakland Hills for 18 months. I am very pleased we selected this care facility. From the moment you walk into the doors the staff is friendly, personable, and willing to assist. The facility is clean, my husband has a private room that is kept spotless. I visit at least 4 times a week and have countless opportunities to observe the one on one care he receives, group activities, and meals. The manager and medical staff is always available when I have requested a meeting to review medications, request special accommodations. My husband is presently living in memory care but he has live in assisted living. I would, without reservation, recommend Sunrise Oakland Hills for Assisted Care or memory Care.
January 2023
I can't say enough about my sincere thanks to the outstanding team and genuinely caring caregivers at Sunrise. My dear mother, who recently passed, was truly loved by everyone who worked there over these last 7 years. A shoutout to Cheryl, Micah, Gwen, and to all her personal team members who always worked closely with me to insure that she had her needs met and that she was happy and active. I always knew she was in good hands. Thank you all.
November 2022
Our family was very pleased with the care that our patriarch Bud Cropsey received at Sunrise over the past 7 years. His care attendants were exceptional as well as the other staff that provided the meals and the laundry and cleaning services. It gave us peace of mind that he was in such good hands.

The facility has been remodeled. All of the caregivers work hard taking care of the residents. I recommend shopping around. Its a little pricey and weve experienced additional charges for services that were not performed. If you decide to place a loved one in this facility I recommend you thoroughly review your monthly bill.

Just taking some fresh air....

We could not have chosen a better place for our mother Marguerite Whyte to make a new home. The memory care wing slowly became a second family for her, and she loved being there. It was such a pleasant place that we felt at home and made lasting ties there too. Sadly, Mom passed away. Towards the end Mom needed to go to the Hospital, and they wanted to keep her there. We were touched by the Sunrise staff especially Karina who was instrumental in our effort to bring Marguerite back home to Sunrise to be with everyone, with her family. Thank you for going above and beyond. We would like to thank the entire staff from Cheryl whom we met first, to the Nursing Staff, Mary and Julia, the memory care staff too many to mention, led by Marcia, and Carmen for your help and compassion. Thank you so much, you are in our prayers.Hope to see you soon,Cris and Ellen and family

Nice facility. Friendly Staff

My friend Mary Alice OConnor and I sing Tuesdays--both upstairs and in Memory Lane downstairs-- with the residents. The Care personnel are so attentive and make the singing and instrument playing so much fun for everyone. We are just one of the many daily activities provided by the program director and staff. We love our time with this lively community.
