I was visiting my daughter in San Diego when I broke my femur in three places the second day I was there. After extensive surgery, I was moved to a temporary nursing home and shortly after, moved to Bayshire Torrey Pines. This skilled nursing facility was like checking into a hotel! The attention to detail and care was phenomenal. My day started with Gemma, my daytime CNA, waking me with a smile and opening the blinds. Evenings brought Rebecca J, a special CNA, who totally spoiled me rotten. Joanna, who dispensed meds, was another friendly face. The night staff also had special people including Miranda who took time to chat with me when she brought my meds, knowing I had trouble sleeping at night. Physical and occupational therapies were triple A! I arrived here without being able to even move my leg. I left learning how to walk with a cane with the knowledge I would soon graduate to no assistance at all! Not bad for a 77 year old! Special thanks to Jazmine, Amanda, Christine, Winson, Chad and others for their dedicated therapy work. Special thanks also to Donna and Kelli for special treatment and Orlando for his positive attitude. There literally are too many wonderful people at this nursing home to mention. Everyone is so friendly I will miss and remember these new friends for a very long time.

My 90 year old mom with Alzheimers fell and broke her hip, and had partial hip replacement surgery. Our family chose Bayshire Torrey Pines Skilled Nursing facility for her recovery, and she stayed there for 3 weeks. We were extremely happy with her whole experience there. The staff was warm, helpful, and caring, and there was a good level of staffing. The facility was warm and inviting. Workers in all roles were helpful, engaged, and friendly. The physical therapy staff trained us in how to best help my mom with getting her into the wheelchair, helping her walk with a walker, and keeping her safe. Some of the other residents also made my mom feel welcome and part of the community. Additionally, we regularly walked my mom through the lovely neighborhood around the facility. By the end of her stay, she was walking successfully with a walker and had returned to near her capabilities from before surgery. Based on our experience, I would highly recommend the Bayshire Torrey Pines Skilled Nursing facility.

Mom stayed at the skilled nursing facility for a period of six weeks back in May/June 2024. It's never easy to be away from home after a tough surgery requiring rehab, but the staff at Bayshire Torrey Pines were very attentive to Mom's needs to try to make her as comfortable as possible. Starting with her case manager's listening to her concerns regarding noise (Mom is very sensory sensitive) and trying to find her a more quiet/private room; to the nurses who made sure her pain was properly managed and communicated with her doctor regularly to address our questions about her meds; to the PT and OT staff who would find her favorite song to play for her in the rehab room; an to the dedicated CNAs who tried to make her feel comfortable, the staff made a coordinated effort to create a healing environment for the residents as best as they could. PT and OT were very effective in teaching her skills she needed on her way back to being as independent as possible. They always checked with us to make sure they met her skill goals. For example, Mom had a doctor's appt. coming up for which she needed to practice car transfer. The rehab staff spent a couple of days teaching and practicing this skill with Mom and us. They also made sure we received adequate caregiver training to further help mom after discharge. Mom also really appreciated activity director's efforts to create a more fun and hospitable environment for the residents. We enjoyed several afternoons listening to live performances and even got to experience a virtual reality tour of several famous cities. No review is complete without some constructive feedback. Mom would have appreciated a less noisy dining hall when the residents were there for meals. The kitchen area was directly attached to the dining hall, and the door to the kitchen was kept open. This made for a very noisy environment when the kitchen staff were continuously cleaning dishes. Also, Mom would have appreciated a more gentle touch when she was awakened to take a late night or early morning medicine. Overall, we really appreciated all the help and effort put in by the dedicated administrative, nursing, rehab, CNA kitchen and cleaning staff put in at the Bayshire Torrey Pines.

I recently spent six weeks at your facility while I was infused with antibiotics to try and repair my leg from an injury many years ago. I am 70 years old and had to use a walker because the operation left me non weight on my left ankle. You physical therapy and occupational therapy was excellent and caused me to gain back my muscle and endurance. Every person I worked with Was a real professional. Your nursing skilled nursing staff was also very professional because I was on an infusion of antibiotics everyday for 6weeks and there attention to my case was very professional and compassionate. Everyone from the chef the wait staff the activities director and all your other staff was very professional and attentive to my every need. My mom has a fall and stayed at the skilled nursing section to get physical therapy before her back surgery ! Excellent care ! Now she's moved into the assisted living apartment ! The care is so thorough and loving ! It's an adjustment for my mom to make this move and change in her life ! Everyone has been very kind, gentle and caring ! There's activities, church services, and nice restaurant area for my mom to meet new friends ! She has a beautiful area to walk and sit in the sun! Her room is cheery with a nice cross breeze! It's been an incredible experience for Dad. We were weary to send Dad to a skilled nursing facility after his hospitalization. We all heard of the horror stories about nursing homes, right? Torrey Pines Skilled Nursing Facility completely changed my mind as I witnessed the care they provided to Dad. A special shout out to Paul and Chris, CNAs whose dedication and patience attending to Dad blew my mind. And, many many more staff, nurses, CNAs throughout the entire organization are just amazing. The food, too, were not some cafeteria grade meals. They were healthy and delicious. Now that Dad has been home for more than a month, he often asked if he can go live there. I highly recommend Torrey Pines Senior Living.

My husband was in skilled nursing for a stroke and multiple fractures due to a horrible motorcycle accident. He couldn’t even get out of bed and was immobile. He left there walking!! The staff were amazing, he had a wonderful OT, PT and speech therapists. We became friends with the staff and they were very friendly and communicated with us all the time about my husband’s progress and we’re always encouraging. My father moved into this Assisted Living Residence less than a month ago. I was struck by the warm and caring nature of everyone who has been involved in his care plan. Veronica was my first contact and I credit her with my confidence in choosing this senior property above all others! Veronica's support, attention to detail, accuracy of information and coordination with team members really helped with the move in and subsequent adjustment to this new home. I must mention Jaime at the reception desk. From the day I met him, he remembered our names and made every effort to explain the ins and outs of procedures and activities. Adrianna, another receptionist, has also been so helpful. Fatima was so pleasant and made the process of signing admission forms easy. Abraham made sure that my Dad's new apartment was safe and comfortable, establishing tv and phone connections and tacking all wires to avoid fall hazards. Lizzie, Inga, and their team of caregivers have taken great care to help my Dad adjust to receiving the care he needs. My Dad is greeted with a smile and he appreciates their ongoing assistance. Melany, a night shift caregiver, made an effort to ensure that he is sleeping in his bed and not upright in a chair. My Dad is happy with the dining room. He likes the food choices and the staff there are all great. Noel has been especially attentive! I wish I knew the names of all the caregivers and dietary staff who enrich my Dad's daily life as I would mention them all by name with great kudos! I am happy that my Dad is living at Torrey Pines Senior Living and I personally would recommend this residence for aging seniors.

The front desk especially, Maureen and Donna, are always such a big help whenever needed. Before Covid, I remember the grand parties and family events held right in their main living room. The last event I remember had a live harp player during a luncheon. I'm hopeful for more events like that soon.

After hip surgery we placed my mom at Torrey Pines Senior Living for rehab after checking out several other facilities. So glad we ended up here - the people were wonderful - from the person who is constantly cleaning to the care team, PT, OT, nurses, activites and social services. My mom recovered quickly. We were invited to attend the Alzheimer's Gala hosted by Torrey Pines Senior Living. It was such a nice event that was very organized, nice music, and great food. There was also an auction of art done by residents to help raise funds for Alzheimer's Association. We were delighted to see the energy and warm welcome as we entered into the well kept facility and enjoyed the garden area where the event was held. Residents who attended were sweet, happy and were having a great time. Seeing how well this was put together in the decor, entertainment, and menu, I would be happy to attend other future events, especially when it's for a great cause. This is the second time that my husband use Torrey Pines Senior Living Skilled Nursing Facility, and on both occasions we are very satisfied about the care and service that he got. The staff members are very friendly, helpful, efficient and accomodating. They really go out of their way to help the patient and family member(s). The place is clean and brightly lit inside. We like the big windows that let in natural light, and the beautiful gardens and greeneries that surround the facility. There are enough outdoor tables and chairs where the patient can receive family members and visitors. The transportation service for doctors' visits is great and the enrichment program is wonderful. My husband got physical therapy almost everyday, which really helped him. He likes the food too. They really take good care of the patients here, and for that, we are very grateful!! Ovi, Clotti, Josie, Richie, Gemma, Chris, Paul, Shuyi, Grace, John and the many others who helped us, THANK YOU! It is also a big plus that the facility is located close to a shopping center with plenty of nice restaurants and varied shops.

There are so many kind and helpful people who work at Torrey Pines Senior Living! My Caregivers, Jaycee, Lillibeth, Heidi, Maria, Melany and Nicole are the first smiles I see in the morning and the last smiles I see in the evening! I am grateful for their help with the many things that I can no longer do for myself! Nurses Agnes and Lizzie are always available to assist as needed. The dining at Torrey Pines Senior living is a mess. They are continually hanging the staff in charge of the dining and nutrition for this facility. They do not describe the dinners adequately but instead give them fancy names so the seniors never know what they are getting. They do not provide enough choices for their seniors. Two vegetables should always be available and corn should not be one of them, many seniors choke on vegetables like corn. The quality of the meats are poor or they are over cooked and dry and tough.

My mother, has been a patient at Brookdale 3 times over that last 3 months. The entire team is very knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. They keep the family up-to-date on progress. Whenever I call the nursing station there is always a nurse to assist. My mom has said that the facility is beautiful, very clean and the food is excellent. My Mom took a fall, fractured her hip, and has been rehabilitating from hip surgery at Brookdale Carmel Valley. I have never written a review before, but I am inspired to do so now. Prior to this unfortunate accident, my Father passed away suddenly and my Mom was without him for the first time in 72 years. This led to loss of appetite, extreme weight loss, depression, the onset of dementia and now this. Following the surgery, I was extremely concerned for her survival. Fortunately, however, this incident led us to this rehabilitation facility. My Mom receives constant personal care, encouragement through therapy and nourishing diet. Just this morning, I received a call from Rachel Arnold, Occupational Therapist, who provided me with a most thorough and up to date status of my Moms progress. During the Co-vid shutdown, I have not been able to make personal visits, which has been very stressful on both of us. The staff empathizes and encourages various other types of visits such as facetime, window visits and long phone conversations. Just yesterday, I was on the phone with my Mom for 5-12 hrs. During this time, I could hear in the background staff members saying hello as they passed by and asking if she needed anything. A lot of laughing. She enjoyed watching a James Bond movie and enjoying a cookie and juice, with constant acknowledgement around her. I am relieved and feel hopeful that my Moms future is bright. Thank you to the staff of Brookdale Carmel Valley. You are all Angels. The Judge Family
