AH Somerset is, quite simply, equal parts excellence and compassion. Jamie Smith arranged my father’s move in mere DAYS and topped it off with Do you need a bed? A nightstand? A TV? A moving company? I can make this easier. There aren’t many professionals out there who can expertly navigate the financial, healthcare, and personal logistics involved with moving a senior who also make you laugh and give you a hug every time they see you. The whole team at AH Somerset is filled with experienced and, in many cases, long-term staff members who are relentlessly positive and genuinely kind. My mom received excellent care at AH Somerset. The entire Staff is excellent---from Nursing, Resident Aides, Reception, Food Service, Housekeeping, Facilities, Events, Management---literally EVERYONE! My wife and I visited a family member at this American house location recently. We signed in when we walked in and went to my family members room. I’ll refer to the family member as FM. My FM’s room was very nice and had a small kitchen with no stove, I’m sure for safety reasons. The room had a really high ceiling, so it was very airy and seemed larger than it was, however there was plenty of room for one person. The room was furnished with the furniture from my FM’s house which was nice because it was very familiar to them. In the short time we were in the room talking to my FM, three different staff members came in to see how my FM was doing. We accompanied my FM to dinner and when the order was placed, the staff whispered to us and said your FM will not eat what they ordered and they recommended we switch it to something else, so we did. My FM ate what was ordered and enjoyed it, so that tells me the staff are really paying attention and know what they will eat and not eat. I really liked this place and their staff. Everyone we interacted with was nice, friendly, were smiling and seemed happy to be there. The facility is very clean and we have no complaints about the staff or the facility.

As a home care nurse I really appreciate how on top of things, the directors are at this building. Working with Shelby and Kaitlyn for the best possible outcome for the residents and improve peoples quality of life. The facility & staff are greattaking great care of my wife who’s confined to a wheelchair for all moving around the facility. My only complaint is that the kitchenette area is not cleaned up enough, and outdated menus & bulletins are not removed, including used napkins. I do this clean-up everytime I visit her on a daily basis. Aides need to include this as part of their daily jobs. Thanks, Michael Mchugh.

This place is going downhill fast. Staffing has become an issue to the point where it is severely understaffed. It is known that several staff members themselves have complained there are not enough people there to effectively care for the residents. What does management do? Anyone who complains has been fired! Yes, fired, further exacerbating the problem. I am posting this anonymously as the general manager of this location has a reputation for being vindictive and I don't want my loved ones care to suffer as a result.

We went out to talk in an enclosed outdoor garden on a covered patio, enjoying some snacks & all the beautiful blooms. While there, everyone seemed very happy & engaged. My 94 year-old mother moved into Anthology of Troy six weeks ago. Mom was in an independent living apartment prior, and had been increasingly struggling with day-to-day tasks and required a lot of on site support to keep her safe and healthy. Although she was rarely happy with her living situation, and only went to community meals occasionally, she made it clear to all that she did not want to move. It was a difficult decision to move Mom, but we knew it had to happen, so we started investigating multiple assisted living communities in our area (Troy and Rochester Hills). After weeks of searching, one facility stood out. Anthology of Troy. Kaitlyn and Shelby professionally and expertly guided us through the decision, leasing and moving processes. Everything was seamless, everything that we were promised happened, and in every case the staff performed above and beyond our expectations. Most importantly, Mom is now happy, well cared for, and safe! She is eating at least two meals in the restaurant every day, and she is participating in social activities. She loves the hairdresser (Margo), and the physical therapist (Maria). If you are in need of assisted living for your loved one, I strongly recommend you consider Anthology of Troy!

The leadership is very professional in handling difficult situations (Covid, flu and a building flood when a pipe burst) always putting their residence first in their decision making. The staff is uniformly beyond excellent, from the executive director Darlene Vernier who obviously has exceptional management skills to the caregivers who are a tremendous help on an ongoing basis. I really can’t say enough good things about this facility. The decor is beautiful, it’s clean and the staff-oh the staff, they are truly amazing people! My father in law had many special needs and they could not have been more accommodating. Not only was every detail attended to, but it was done with compassion and kindness. This was one of the most difficult times in our family’s lives and the folks at Anthology did so much to comfort us and help us acclimate my loved one. I’m not sure what more a person could ask for. My mother has been in Memory Care at Anthology of Troy for 3 years and my mother-in-law in Assisted Living for 2 years. I have found the staff to be very caring and very professional. If there have been any concerns I have communicated them to the appropriate people and they were resolved. You cannot judge a senior living residence by one moment in time, but by the overall work and care provided. I can, however, provide two moments that show the caring of the loving people working at Anthology of Troy. When visiting my mother on Christmas day another resident’s family member needed help with getting an item for her father and the director of memory care came in on her day off to help her out. And although my mother-in-law was out of town for her 101st birthday, when she returned four days after, the staff had still decorated her door in celebration and with well wishes. Trivial? Maybe. But these are things that could have just as easily not been done. I am very grateful for the caring and loving people working at Anthology of Troy.

My mother was fortunate enough to stay at Anthology Troy at the hardest part of her life. She suffered an unforeseen medical situation that was truly a challenge for her and our entire family. Anthology Troy truly cared for her 24-7 for 2 months. The PT, OT and exercise classes have helped her tremendously through her recovery. The staff treated her with respect and I can't thank the entire staff from the front reception team to the Physical Therapists to the nurses aid and incredible management team, they really supported her through some tough times. Thankfully we are seeing great progress in her recovery. We continue therapy a few times a week and appreciate everyone's support. Glad we chose Anthology!

ADDEMDUM....I am happy to make another review on this facility, STONECREST of TROY! It has obviously changed for the better and it is very noticeable! The Caregivers are prompt, efficient and courteous! The Medications are dispensed on time! The response time for help has very much improved The food has improved SOMEWHAT...There is more variety to choose from, however the wait for your food is long if you do not go to the dining room! Even in the dining room there are long waits! But, for those up in their rooms, the wait can go to 7:30pm ....when actually dinner starts serving at 5pm! If that isn't bad enough, 50% of the time your food is not what you ordered...there is no silverware.....no beverage! The highlight of a resident in a place like this.....is the dessert!! It sounds childish, but it's true!!! Many times the dessert is missing! I as a visitor, can relate! This facility has made a remarkable turnaround in the last 90 days....But, the kitchen and dining room need more improvment........ FOOD IS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE. The residents look forward to their meals. Food is important to their health as, " their medications!" IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BEAUTIFUL PLACE FOR YOUR LOVED ONE, THIS QUALIFIES! HOWEVER, LOOK AT ALL THE ISSUES MENTIONED ABOVE .....CLOSELY!
