Life at The Village of River Oaks is a pleasure. As I near my first year here, I can honestly say I can't imagine a happier place to be. Every day is a treat, largely thanks to the incredible VORO team. From the Executive Director and Management to the front desk concierges and the valets, housekeepers, and dining staff, everyone is always cheerful and kind. The community itself is warm and beautiful. I love my apartment, and the public spaces have an elegant, comfortable feel. Sharing chef-prepared meals in the dining room with friends is a highlight of my day. But what truly makes this place special is the residents. I'm surrounded by an active, friendly group of peers”many of whom I now call dear friends”and our Life Enrichment Director keeps our calendar so engaging that there’s always something for everyone to enjoy. We laugh a lot! I love it here!

I've been a resident in Assisted Living at the Village of River Oaks for over a year. Before I moved here, I had been in and out of hospitals for two years with emergencies. The last visit entailed 50 days in a hospital bed on a powerful IV antibiotic. When I was discharged, I was too weak to walk, prepare meals, or bathe by myself. I needed help - more help than my family could provide. Extensive searching in Houston led us to the Village of River Oaks, and we are forever grateful. I quickly regained my appetite, being offered a wide variety of well-prepared, healthy food. I made it a point to learn where and how the meat and vegetables are sourced. The standards are high enough to meet my own. I got to know the Resident Assistants who tend to us daily and know what we need before we do. (I call them my Resident Angels.) They’re willing to tackle any task and do so pleasantly. I have taken advantage of Physical Therapy (covered by Medicare) and personal training, available on site, as well as the free group classes, offering chair yoga and various exercises daily, modified to suit seniors. I gradually started walking, safe and cool in the Village hallways, knowing that if I fell, someone was always in reach. I now walk a mile a day with only my cane to assist. I go out to lunch with my family and friends again. My son was adamant that I find a place with a generator for the elevators. He was surprised to learn that The Village of River Oaks has generator capacity for the entire building, assuring we will never be without power during Houston summers. He was also pleased to learn that the Village is a designated Shelter-in-Place facility by the City of Houston, lessening the potential for forced evacuation. Seniors often must move to access more care as they age. It can be daunting. My experience here has proved to be a blessing; one I would wish for all those challenged by growing old.

I moved to the Village of River Oaks three weeks ago to be near my son. I highly recommend it. The building is only 9 years old. It's 3 minutes to the grocery store, post office, bank, Walgreens, Office Depot, and an array of fine shops and restaurants. Everything is well maintained. The meals are excellent with creative dishes by a fine master chef. They change the menu every night with 3 entrees. If you don't see one you like, you can order from another one of the foods always available, including wonderful salmon. There are about 8 different activities each day and a movie every night in a small theater. There's a swimming pool and fitness center. They offer various excellent fitness exercises each day. The social coordinator came up with unique ideas such as live readings of plays where you can act a character's part, poetry appreciation, music presentations, creating your own video. There's a movie every night in the theater. Each Friday at 4:00, there's a wine down. They hire a professional musician for us to dance and enjoy ending the week. The staff is very pleasant and does all it can to accommodate one's needs. The Village is in River Oaks, considered the finest neighborhood in all of Houston. I'm 2 blocks from the Bayou which has lots of walking trails and 4 from MEMORIAL PARK, the largest in Houston. I hated leaving all my friends in Sun City TX, but I have found new ones here. The wide variety of activities and meals in the dining room have given me an opportunity to interact with very interesting fellow residents.

My mother has been here since 2020 - transitioning from assisted living to memory care. The staff is incredibly loving and caring and have taken excellent care of her. I’m so thankful to have found such a great place for her in this stage of her life.

The quality of care provided to residents is exceptional. The staff and administration are highly professional. The day shift nurse, Juan, is exceptionally competent and caring. The management staff is responsive to residents’ needs and strictly enforces punctuality among employees. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as an employee. Charmanie, the Medical director, is the best, along with Halie, the associate Administator . Basra, the associate medical director, is also an asset. I had a pleasant onboarding experience with Robin and Raylyn. I would highly recommend this place for employment. The executive director, administrator, Chris, and food service manager, Patrick, were both welcoming and helpful. Overall, I had a positive experience working here. I enjoyed my brief staff as an employee.

I'll start by saying the Village of River Oaks has been an amazing home of love and care for my mother. I cannot say enough good things about the amazing staff - Hayley, Amber, Charmanie, and Chris just to name a few off the top of my head. Please know all the staff is amazing. The gentleman that oversees parking is an absolute wonderful human. My mother is in assisted living. She, sadly, had a little fall and fractured her hip. The VORO team responded immediately carefully getting my mother to the ER safely and quickly. Now here's where the service care above and beyond. Two days after Mom's hip surgery, I popped by her unit to pick up some items. Nurse Amber anticipated that I would be coming by and set out some clothes and creature-comforts she knew my mom would like to have with her. That is just amazing and so helpful for me and my family. Thank you VORO for being amazing and caring so well for my Mother.

Brittany is such a loving and caring individual, who understands all aspects of the transition. I believe her to be helpful outside of her scope of employment, with deep knowledge of the system, and contacts everywhere for everything. She is a beautiful person who cares deeply about everyone that she interacts with. She has my highest admiration, and I cannot thank her enough for everything that she has done for my mother, myself, and my family.

Today i spent he afternoon visiting my Dad at Village of River Oaks. He had recently moved here from another assisted living center that i had been to frequently, so i was very interested in what he likes so much here. The facility is nice, of course, but so was the previous place. I attended a happy hour with live entertainment and also went to dinner at the dining room. Everyone was friendly, good service, good food. But i really think its the friendly staff that makes the big difference.

This is a beautiful environment with lovely staff who are dedicated to their residents. The staff are welcoming and caring creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. This is a wonderful "Retirement Community." The Staff Members are very personable and very professional. During the recent Hurricane Beryl event, the Staffers did an extraordinary job of ensuring the Residents were safe and well-protected from the external effects of the storm. Electrical power was maintained in the building and the Residents were very pleased with the measures taken to ensure their comfort and safety throughout the storm.

Our mom recently moved to the Village of River Oaks Assisted Living. It's a pristine facility nestled in a beautiful neighborhood of Houston where the staff is warm and caring and the residents are very welcoming. It’s been a wonderful experience from our first visit. The onboarding staff is fantastic and has a keen attention to the needs of every resident aiming to make their new home comfortable and pleasant. Not only is the facility tastefully decorated, it is bright and inviting and offers the care that mom needs and a variety of activities that appeal to a community with a wide range of interests. One of the many things that we enjoy at the Village of River Oaks is the way they cater to not only the residents but also to their families. We’ve enjoyed some delicious meals with mom in the dining room and have observed the staff’s kindness towards the residents and their guests making everyone feel part of this wonderful community. We are very thankful to have found this oasis where mom can feel safe, valued, respected, and happy.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting a family member that is a resident of the Village of River Oaks in Houston, TX and I must say that it was truly an exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that the staff went above and beyond to ensure that every resident felt special and valued. The level of care and attention to detail that goes into creating a welcoming and inclusive environment is truly remarkable. One aspect that stood out to me was the wide range of special events and activities that are organized for the residents. The staff at the Village of River Oaks understands the importance of keeping their residents engaged and entertained, and they certainly deliver in this department. The events I have attended have all been top-notch, offering a diverse range of options to suit all interests and preferences. Of particular note was the clam bake event that took place on August 24, 2023. The attention to detail was astonishing, leaving no stone unturned. From the beautifully decorated tables to the delectable seafood dishes, every aspect of the event was meticulously planned and executed. It was evident that the staff truly cared about creating a memorable experience for everyone in attendance. What impressed me the most was the level of service and care that the staff provided throughout the entire event. They were constantly checking in with residents, ensuring that their needs were met and that they were comfortable. The genuine warmth and dedication exhibited by the staff made the atmosphere feel intimate and inviting, further enhancing the overall experience.

On a tour and was shown the daily menu, all unhealthy items were marked heart healthy and all heart healthy items were not designated as such. Just another place that tries to trick and ripoff seniors. SAD. Landscaping and Jimmy the valet were nice though. Avoid the predatory Village of River Oaks.

The Nurses do not know what they are doing. They preformed CPR on a person that had an LEGAL order to let him die peacefully.

My mother has now passed on, and the VORO was an ideal location for her final chapter. I did find it odd that the administration of the facility seemed to want to micromanage our clearing out her apartment, repeatedly asking when things would be out after the question had been answered several times.

Friendly staff. Very secure! We assist the residents in making sure their furry companions are fresh and clean and when picking up or dropping off, you can see how the staff are very aware of visitors and familiar faces to ensure the safety of the residents. I would recommend The Village for all seniors looking for live in assistance or independent living in a senior community.

I was welcomed graciously, when I approached the information desk. Instructions for locating my friend (the patient) were immediately and clearly provided. I was able to locate my friend’s room, with no problems whatsoever. My friend, who is a patient at Methodist now, was a volunteer at Methodist for many years. She is now, receiving what she provided to others, for many years. (service and support)

Facility is amazing beginning when you first walk in and meet Ronnie at the concierge desk. Staff is cordial and helpful. The beautiful surroundings are clean and well maintained. There is a sense of goodwill and harmony in the entire building, both IL, AL and memory care. It is a joy to visit.

I am a home care nurse and visit a couple 3 times a week. The staff is so nice from when I get out of my car to when I leave. The couple I visit love living here. Every one is always happy.
