Brad and Becky worked so hard to make things happen when my mom needed care. She loves being at Canterfield and the activities are enough to keep my mom happy. We are so pleased going into our 3rd month there. Facility is beautiful, clean and it’s like a big family.

Choosing memory care for a parent is one of the hardest decisions a family can make. From the moment our dad arrived, we knew we had made the right choice. For over a year and a half, he was treated with extraordinary patience, dignity, and warmth. The caregivers truly took the time to understand him ” his stories, his preferences, and his unique personality. He was not only well cared for physically, but emotionally supported and genuinely loved. The staff kept us informed, welcomed our visits, and always made us feel like partners in his care. During a challenging season, they provided stability, compassion, and reassurance. We will forever be grateful for the way they cared for dad and for the kindness they extended to our entire family. Even though my dad is no longer with us, my family still plans on visiting regularly, as we have grown to love the caregivers, nurses, staff, and residents.

Canterfield of Franklin has truly been a blessing to our family. From the very beginning, they have gone above and beyond to make every resident ” and every family member ” feel welcomed, valued, and genuinely loved, like part of one big family. The care they provide is exceptional, and I say that with a full and grateful heart. Their compassion, attentiveness, and commitment to each resident’s well-being bring us so much peace of mind. We simply cannot imagine our loved one being anywhere else.

Canterfield of Franklin is in my opinion, the best assisted living community in Williamson County. The leadership and staff are top notch and truly care about our loved ones living there. Great activities and field trips, beautifully kept facility and outdoor landscaping, and the convenience of having amenities such in-house physical therapy and devotion times are a few of the things my loved one enjoys. Thank you especially to Brad Hamilton, the executive director, who isn’t just someone with a title ” he is in the trenches with all of his team there and we so appreciate him!

Don’t Do It

What started out as a promising, safe environment for our grandmother has transformed into an unsafe, poorly managed facility that needs immediate attention and support. I have witnessed the degradation of the facility over the last couple of years and try to support our family and her friends the best we can. It is time for leadership and ownership to step up, address letters, calls and posts for help. The good and potential. The location is great and close to the interstate and communities of Franklin/Brentwood. Building is newer. Our Grandmother was one of the first to move in and on the 2nd floor. Residents are forming friendships and appear to get along. At first, the environment was positive, and residents felt cared for, secure and safe. With proper attention they could get back there. The bad and opportunities. Residents do not feel safe or secure. A worker broke into our grandmother’s room, stole her check book and wrote multiple counterfeit checks. This worker had a master key. Those in charge were slow to react and pushed back when we involved law enforcement. The staff member was eventually arrested and charged but with little support from Canterfield leadership. Anyone can walk in the front door and go to rooms. On multiple occasions when bringing our grandmother back we walked her in, up to her room and back out without seeing any staff members. The doors were not locked and could be pulled open. When the used to lock them, it was impossible to get an attendant or support to get back into the building. We recommended keypad, key check in and out and asked for a number to call to get someone to support. None of these things have occurred. Additional concerns were brought up that I do not want to publish. A letter from our attorney was sent and received with no action or response to date. Residents have concerns with staffing levels and medical care. Grandmother was not checked on for over 5 days nor could we get the staff to get us in touch for over 24 hours while quarantined for COVID-19. Multiple instances of medication not being administered at the appropriate time amongst most residents. Facility did not have any COVID-19 Tests for residents or visitors and guests. Attempted to refuse resident requests to leave the facility. Poor communication around visiting medical professionals or appointments. No notification about podiatrist visiting recently. Residents have concerns around service, food and overall cleanliness of the facility. The carpet is not clean. Nor has the carpet in our grandmother’s room been shampooed yet. After several requests and offers to do so ourselves which were refused. Coffee and beverages are not served. The residents, many challenged with mobility, must get up and serve themselves. Kitchen staff has turned over frequently. Food quality and portions decreasing day over day. Slice of roast beef is not considered a steak in most places. There are multiple more issues and concerns. Many of which have been included in the above-mentioned letter that was sent, without reply. If there are not immediate changes, we will be forced to transition our loved ones to a better, safer and more caring facility. I cannot in good conscious recommend Canterfield Franklin in the current state. I look forward to discussions with the leadership and ownership and a response to the original concerns. We will support making positive change as it is what our elder family members deserve.

I'm so thankful for Canterfield. This place was an answered prayer for our family as we wanted to move my father closer to where were live. Another blessing was to witness the faculty and staff always warm and cheerful, always engaging with the residents there...especially our dad. So thankful!!

I have lived at Canterfield of Franklin since it opened. Not only is it a beautiful building but it became “home” very quickly. Out of my window is an uninhabited hill that furnishes me views of wildlife such as deer, bobcats and various kinds of birds. The food is good as well as the care. You can stay as busy as you want with activities , entertainment & just visiting with your friends. I could not have found a better place.

Love this place! We moved my dad here after realizing we were not happy with the assisted living location he was residing. I cannot tell you how happy my dad was at Canterfield! Everyone there went above and beyond to make him happy and even feel like family! I can not recommend this place enough. Thank you Canterfield for all you did for him!

We are so very delighted with everything about Canterfield of Franklin. The facility is very new and updates with lots of light and stylish furnishings in the public areas and hallways. They celebrate the residents every day in very personal ways, the staff is very caring and they get to know the residents so they can provide the individual care they need. They hold regular celebrations, medical management is top notch with the best nursing staff we have encountered. They do what they say they will do, for reasonable costs. We are so very grateful for the staff and facility management.

This is an excellent facility. It feels more like a hotel than a senior/assisted living environment. I have family in the "Moore's Manor" wing (memory care) and it is a wonderful environment with great staff who really care about the residents.

My sweet grandmother lives at Canterfield and it has been such a blessing in her life. She has made many new friends and feels very plugged in to the residents and staff there. It has also given our extended family peace of mind knowing that she is in a thriving and active community of peers who love and care for her. Canterfield is a great place to be!

Our Mom has been at Canterfield for 2 years, in which time her dementia has deteriorated considerably. During this time, not only have her physical needs been attended to promptly and professionally, but her mental and spiritual sides have been ministered to as well. You see. The folks at canterfield treat her like royalty. Praising her. Joking with her. Uplifting her spirits when she’s down. And administering a gentle but serious nudge to get her to meals when she’s rather not leave her room. So it is with great gratitude that I wholehearted recommend this facility AND it’s caretakers for anyone who wants their loved ones cared for like you would hope.

My mom moved into Canterfield of Franklin recently and received such a warm welcome from everyone! The staff and other residents really did so much for her to make her transition an easy one. The entire facility has a comforting atmosphere while at the same time providing plenty of activities for the residents. We are so thankful for the family at Canterfield who has made my mom's new home truly feel like home.

Canterfield is a clean, professional, pleasant, and happy place. Mom has been there almost a year, and the pandemic-strained staff has done a marvelous job providing for her needs. I have thought numerous times about moving in across the hall, but was kindly advised to stay away.

I work for Synergy HomeCare in Brentwood and we had the pleasure of touring Canterfield of Franklin with Susie Eskew. Upon entering the community we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was thorough about the check-in process to verify our temperatures and that we were free of COVID symptoms. Susie then came out to talk with us, from that first interaction you could tell the passion Susie has for helping seniors and their loved ones. She showed us around the beautiful community which felt very elegant and home-like. We were stopped and greeted by several residents, it was very apparent that they genuinely enjoy living at Canterfield of Franklin. The rest of the staff that we interacted with were equally as pleasant as Susie and it was evident that they all enjoy what they do. We were even able to see a few resident family members, too, who also seemed very pleased!

I love this community! The staff and residents go above and beyond in every way. It’s JOYFUL here, and life is FUN. The food is great, activities are stimulating, care staff are truly servant-hearted, and our residents’ families are OUR families. If I could live here at my young age, I would! 3 meals, laundry done, and housekeeping! Dreamy!

Absolutely OUTSTANDING! We moved both my husband's parents to Canterfield and were blown away with the facility. Most importantly, the staff, yes everyone, went out of their way to make mom and dad comfortable. I can not say enough good things about this facility. Both passed away at Canterfield. The staff cried with us, prayed with us and to this day we get letters of encouragement from them. Truly a one of a kind place. My only concern is I can't give them six stars.
