My mom is a resident of All American in Kingston. All American is a smaller facility in comparison to some of the larger options out there , so it does offer a more homey atmosphere. The management and staff really seem to care about all of the residents. The community seems to be well managed and is always very clean. They offer daily projects and activities and have outings often to keep the residents active and involved. The current director, Shannon, is very friendly and caring. She is kind and understanding and very easy to talk to. The first time you talk with her, you will feel like you have known her for years. The management team and staff work hard to keep residents happy and safe. This was a good choice for our loved one.

Mom's been here a month. I can't say how nice the staff has been. From the Director down to the Servers in the dining hall. Everyone's respectful very nice caring. I feel very comfortable and happy that my mother is here. Mom is enjoying the place too. She says the food is great!

The staff and people that work at all American are fantastic . They go above and beyond their job scope both my parents lived there for several years. To the memory care unit and assisted living nothing but great things to say about them. I would not hesitate to have my loved ones live there… thank you to the staff for everything you do….

My Dad's time there was ok until his dementia took a fairly sudden turn for the worse; instead of 30 day notice as stated in the contract, I was told he was being sent to the hospital and could not come back. He died less than a month later. I made the mistake of paying them for the next month he wasn't there, including the extra fees for his care - thinking I would get the money back; I did not of course. Staff turnover, including leadership is high. Executive Director did not communicate to staff…when I went to pick up a picture of my Dad that they had, one of the leadership team after chasing me out the door to take back the cheap frame, asked how my dad was - even though supposedly everyone was told he had passed. His prior 18 months there was ok-not great but ok, thus 3 stars. I know he was difficult because of his IBS - but I got the impression they were happy he was gone.

Overall: a nice new facility, reasonable living quarters, reasonable level of living assistance, reasonable dining service, reasonable level of resident activities, reasonable level of transport assistance, reasonable level of collaboration with families and external care givers. Generally great people and caring staff have been employed, but their employment doesn't seem to last long. Now it seems to be staffed more by temporary agencies than permanent employees. Management and staff turnover is worrisome, and bears continued monitoring. I'm told that high turnover is an "industry" problem. I'm told it's related to COVID exhaustion. I don't accept that. As a senior businessperson, high turn-over tells me some foundational and cultural things are wrong and not being addressed. But I will temper this assessment and note that without a "deeper dive", I don't know what I don't know and can only offer a "personal" opinion. Focus of management seems to me to have changed. There seems to be less focus on deep support, caring, and flexibility for individual needs of elder residents and devotion to creating a caring "community". There now seems to be more focus on corporate priorities and short-term profitability. Again, I'm told this is common in the industry. Again, I'll push back and say I think it is a problem with management philosophy and priorities in what is supposed to be a service-focused, elder care enterprise.

Im very satisfied and happy that I found this place for my mother. The price is reasonable, the staff really care about the residents and their families, and they provide the care and services each resident needs. They really strive to care for the whole person, mind, body, and spirit. Also, theyve done an excellent job keeping the whole community healthy during the pandemic.

My mother in law has been a resident since Dec, 2019. Our family was a little nervous about how she would handle the transition, however everyone at All American welcomed her to her new home. The activities are a perfect balance of exercise, trivia, games and crafts for those who want to participate.
