My mom, Lil Rauch passed away at Briar on July 1. I was so very pleased with the staff there. I have never met a more caring group of people. I was never worried that she was not being taken care of. She loved everyone of the staff and I think they genuinely loved her. Please know that I appreciate everyone of you and the care that you gave mom.

OHMAN in Middlefield, Ohio. I've heard some good things about the higher staff, the food, room, and I've heard of a sad complaint that needs to be heard AND TAUGHT to those entering a person's home, even though it's a room number....in that the lower staff in general, lack basic manners when entering and doing their jobs for residents. Knock first, then enter, say hello and offer their name and what job they are there for.....Just the normal kindness when entering a person's home. The lack of basic manners, just going about their job with no regard to being in a person's home is not only rude, but gives off a aire of condescendment to the resident. A move out of a person's independent house can be very depressing. There needs to be uplifting staff at all levels, especially by staff who work consistently, day to day in a resident's room. This is a MAJOR training element required to be taught by high staff.

Knowing that your loved one will need the services of a skilled nursing facility, and unfortunately, the not so favorable things you often hear about such facilities, can cause instant angst and anxiety. Our search for the best facility that we could find to meet our needs took us 28 miles from home. Indeed it was worth the drive. The entire staff was excellent. STNA’s, Nurses, Respiratory therapists, PT/OT staff.everyone was so caring and competent. Our family took daily shifts being with our loved one so we definitely got to see the staff at varying times of the dayalways friendly and caring. Would highly recommend Ohmans!!!

Our family finds Ohman Family Living at Briar to be an excellent facility. They are very caring and my husband loves his care team here. They go above and beyond a typical skilled facility. If you love your family member and need a place that makes the patient and your family feel like you’re at home, this is the place.

I went post surgery to Ohman Family for rehab and received excellent care. The physical and occupational therapists were exceptional and the respiratory therapists were very helpful. All of the nurses and nurse's aides were caring and always ready to assist with anything needed. I would recommend this facility to anyone needing rehab or long term care.

My husband, suffering from West Nile Syndrome has been in 3 hospitals and 2 rehab facilities and this is one of the best. The food is superb, the nurses, OT, PT,, Speech, and Resp Therapist are all great and very knowledgeable and helpful. The ancillary staff is also very qualified and friendly and come within a reasonable amount of time to help us. It’s been a very devastating experience for him, taking at this point 10 weeks, and counting to get his body back to his normal state, which was an energetic, athletic 6’3 , 240lb man, who now weighs 218lbs. Here at Briar they are working so hard to get him back on his feet. My family and I are so appreciative for all of their hard work and support. Linda Manfrass

Shout out to Cinnamon, Rebecca, and Debbie for providing such great and personalized care. Tawny the nurse manager was a huge help in navigating appointments as well as follow up procedures. I would recommend this campus to anyone. Thank you, Jim Marlowe

My wife has been at the Briar for about a year and a half She’s been in several facilities over the years since she became bedridden from Ms and a stroke this facility is in a different stratospher than the other facilities from the outside to the inside the rooms are very clean and comfortable my wife needed a new air mattress and we couldn’t believe that they replaced it as quick as they did the nurses and aides do a great job and are very attentive to her needs she is also on a ventilator Alex has a great respiratory team Yvone and all the rest of the team do a great job giving the care she needs There are to many people that do a great job here to mention but I wanted to let people know that if they have a family member that needs good care this would be a good place to start your search.

My 92 yr old mother has been at Briar for 11 days. I’m not only relieved at the quality of care but moreso by the competence and GENUINE caring and incredible COMMUNICATION among the staff with each other and myself. The nurses are wonderful, update me anytime there’s even a tiny change; they are responsive to my input and I feel like we are on the same team. The aids are the best I’ve ever experienced at ANY point in my medical career (retired ER doc; 26 years at academic Level 1 trauma center that includes a plethora of time spent in various levels of care). It’s funny because each aid has preference for which bedpan; how to line said bedpan, Only this butt cream but there’s a too thick, too thin, a dab of this, a dab of that. I just let whomever is on lead that part but what it means? Is they each give a damn! They want what they have seen work the best and that means A LOT! They treat each patient like they would their own family member. They are extremely gentle. The coordination of meds/prep/dressing/toileting/hoyer-ing to WC/getting ready for therapy, etc. is wonderful. Ash, PT; Patty OT; Cinnamon SLP; Charlene, Activities director; Dr. Pawlicky, M Bennet, PA; Christine & Debbie, RN; Brenda, Rebecca, Michelle, Ally & Leeann , aids Have been WONDERFUL and we only a bit more than a week into this. Additionally, although I was skeptical by Briar’s diaper only-no Purewick approach” I went with it. Yes, in just 3-4 days, I noticed her core strength and ability to help turn herself increase dramatically as well as spontaneous leg/torso movement throughout day (she was previously quite still not wanting to dislodge wick). We have our own Purewick system but no need to use. Therapy: Day 1:PT, could not fully stand upright with 2 person support; Day 3: standing with 25% assist but unable to take step; Day 4: 5 min on recumbent bike; Day 7: stand 20 sec; day 9: Stand1 min x 2 and 6 steps; Day 11: walking 10 steps parallel bars with ability to stand nearly unassisted. I’m looking forward to each day. Finally, Rob and the RT’s (esp Yvonne) are wonderful. He spent a ton of time tweaking he cpap mask fitting and last few nights were wonderful. They are also actively weaning both Cpap bleed and daily oxygen needs and have decreased by 33% and 66%, respectively so far! Bret from nursing checks in on us regularly as does Alex, the Director. I have zero reservations about having chosen Ohman at Briar for my mom’s SNF/Rehab. This place is giving her best chance to get stronger.

This is the best place I have ever seen. My partner came here with a trach and within 2 months she is breathing on her own and could possibly have the trach removed soon. She has been on a ventilator for over 3 months and I see light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks to ohman family living at briar Hill. A great place with great people

After searching Northeast Ohio for a good and safe family living place for a friend and loved one we finally found Oman family living at Briar. I don’t want to talk negative of the other six facilities we experienced but on a one to 10 scale- They would only be a 2 to 5. But Ohman @ Briar gets a 10 from us as a whole They offer respiratory therapy, wound care, and all the services you could imagine. The facility is clean from the parking lot all the way into the private rooms. The administration and the staff are first class and attentive to the families and more importantly to the clients. I highly recommend Ohman @ Briar! ’™’

Ohman Family Living at Briar has given me hope in healthcare again. I have seen the best of the best and the worse of the worse in healthcare. Briar has raised the bar. The Nursing staff is amazing and kind and try to meet your loved ones every need. The admissions and social work department are constantly updating and encouraging throughout the stay. The respiratory staff is second to none. I have been thoroughly pleased with the care that they have given my loved one. If you are looking for a loving, caring environment for a friend or family member this is the place for you. So grateful for the care that they have given to our mom.

Leaving a loved one in a facility is a very difficult experience. The choice was taken away from us when our loved one had to be intubated. Taking care of a Trach was not doable for us at home. Ohman has made this experience more palatable. The place is clean, and airy, and looks more like a hotel than a nursing facility. The care given to the residents is top-notch. It has been over a year since our loved one moved into Ohman. Her condition is vulnerable yet the facility has nursed her through Pneumonia and Covid and she has recovered without needing to be transfered to a hospital. Ohman Family Living at Briar has graciously accommodated our religious needs. We are tremendously grateful to Mr. Ohman and his staff for taking such good care of their residents.

Ohman Family Living at Briar is a great place, the facility is clean and staff is friendly and professional. Leadership is passionate about the care they provide and the individuals they serve. They also love to teach the next generation of healthcare providers by volunteering to have students rotate through the facility. The respiratory department has state of the art equipment which enables the staff to work towards weaning from ventilator dependent status and improving quality of life.

Thank you Briar Hill for taking care of and getting my father-in-law to the point of being able to come home again. We never thought that he would get well enough to come home when we transferred him from another facility. However, within hours, of him arriving his whole attitude and outlook changed for the better. The other facility told us they could not give him physical therapy, however, within days you had therapy approved thru his insurance and had him standing again. The food was very good and all the staff was very welcoming to the family members. Whenever we had questions, they were there to answer. My father-in-law never complained abut meals or his care. Thank you again for all the time and care you gave him.

My father is staying there for post hospital rehab. Am very pleased with nursing staff. But not with house keeping!! He has been there since Wednesday and the only time bed gets made is if I stop in and make it. Linens haven't been changed since his arrival and floor is dirty. I asked day shift twice today to change his dirty bedding and just came back at 5pm to see it still wasn't done. Not happy with hygiene level here at all.

My husband was recently admitted here. I've only been there once so far so I don't have a lot to base my opinions on, but the place is very clean. The people were all very friendly. I liked the doctor that is in charge of my husband's care but only spent a few minutes talking with him. We'll have to wait and see if that changes. It's a 70 minute drive to this place for me so I probably won't be able to visit as often as I'd like but weather permitting I'll be there once a week at least. What I didn't like about this place was that I only saw one nurse in my husband's hall. I didn't see any aides or other caregivers at all. Respiratory heard I was there and he did come to meet me and ask if I had any questions. Overall I was happy with my husband's care so far

Ohman Family Living at Briar have done a remarkable job with caring for my mother over the past 9 years. My mom fell and was unable to walk due to the fall. She also has moderate dementia. I chose Briar Hill because I saw and heard the staff members actually talking with other residents not talking at them. There was laughter and an upbeat feel that I didn’t get from 5 other nursing homes in the area. My mom loved the paintings and colors of the the facility, she felt at home. Over the years care givers changed but they all were so good to my mom and made her feel cared for. It gave me a piece of mind that she was ok and in good hands. The new renovation feels good now that it’s done.Thank you Ohma Family Living for taking care of my mom! Julee Sedivy

It is one thing to deal with physical physical pain, but the emotional trauma that accompanies any illness/injury only compounds the unfortunate situation. Fortunately for me, everyone and everything encountered while at Ohman Family Living at Briar addressed my needs beyond what I expected. From the minute I arrived, I was immediately attended to, including being asked if I needed something to eat. My room was very clean, large, and comfortable. I knew that I would be welcomed here. I was impressed with the care I received from all the staff members during the days I rehabbed. The nurses and the aids were nothing short of amazing. The physical therapists provided activities that moved my healing process along smoothly. The respiratory therapist expedited sending me home with oxygen to be sure that I felt confident with my breathing. During the plan of action meeting with the department heads, I not only was given needed information but also saw real evidence of the concern for me and their commitment to provide the best possible care for all of their clients. I am happy to say that the care I received at Ohman Family Living at Briar once again made me realize that there is much goodness and kindness in the world.

My friend, Don, was a resident at Briar Hill for twenty-two years, the person with the longest residency to date. He died very recently. I visited Don frequently and always found Don to be fresh, his clothing clean, his body bathed. Don was paralyzed on his left side so he was virtually helpless. Don could have a temper reflex at times and would shout or strike at the staff on a rare occasions. Then I'd get a phone call and Don and I would have a come-to-Jesus talk. Briar Hill staff were so patient with Don and so, so loving, understanding and forgiving. Don enjoyed bingo, the Sunday worship services, sing-a-longs, etc. His passion was food. I most frequently visited him during meal time and his food was varied, hot, and nicely prepared. Briar Hill had none of the characteristic stale-urine odor that I experience in some nursing homes. Their housekeeping staff do really well in attending to their work. I knew Anderson Ohman's grandparents who were devout Christians. I recall when Briar Hill began in a simple residence with the family living in the garage, such a sincere and humble beginning. I know the Ohman family takes their Christian faith to heart and live it fully. Therein lies the key to the caring staff. The model for caring is from the top down. Should I ever need a facility like Briar Hill for myself or anyone I am caring for, I will call on Briar Hill. For me, there is none other. Roy Nichols

Briarhill Nursing Facility is such Wonderful, Caring and Professional Atmosphere for anyone residing or visiting their Facility. My ,father who is 97 years old has had the pleasure of being cared for several times for short term respite care at the Briarcliff facility in Middlefield ,Ohio and he has had such Great Care and Hospitality by the Admissions Staff and Nursing staff every time he has stayed there. We are very Blessed to have Such a Wonderful and Special Facility to count on whenever we need a short term respite Care for my Elderly Father if we need such care while away at events ,etc.He by as also made Wonderful friends there who are actual residents and enjoy visiting with each other whenever my Father is staying there. Briarhill /Briarcliff Nursing Facility is by far top rated in our books .God Bless Them For All They Do for the Residents and their Families and Communities. We can't Thank the Faculty and Residents of Briarhill/Briarcliff Nursing Facilities enough for all they do for they treat their Residents and Guests like family and in fact we have been so pleased with their care ,that we often bring tokens of our appreciation with various seasonal gifts to the staff, Nursing care for all they do. My Elderly father lives with us and though he is quite social and enjoys talking with people, he has been apprehensive in past when visiting Nursing Facilities when he had had to go for Rehabilitation, etc,but when we were looking for a place for Short term care (respite care) and visited the Briarhill, Briarcliff Facility, my Father immediately loved it and felt Soooo welcomed and comfortable there whether for a few days or a week stay, etc. The Facility is Beautifully decorated and immaculate and very spacious and welcoming. And of course, the staff from Administration, to Admissions to Nursing Care are all Wonderful! What a Wonderful Experience and Place when one needs a family member to have such care. The decor is ugly, like a funeral home,2 beds per room, room is very small,1 bathroom per room, and its hard to get a wheelchair in.Everyroom is filled,so your getting a roommate. Dining room is large but portions are family style, everybody eats the same, and portions are small. I have no complaints about the staff,I had no issues. If your loved one needs a wheelchair when you leave this facility, get it before the exit date, they aren't going to lend you one to get home with.
