Reviews Ingleside at Rock Creek
August 2026
My wife and I did a test visit of two nights at IRC that were quite satisfactory. The facilities are top notch, and the staff is generally attentive. I found the food to be quite good. Though we're not ready to move in yet because of our high-maintenance dog, we got on the waiting list a few years ago and are moving up.

I enjoyed the tour, but did not see the active residents that we would hope to be when we joined. Maybe it was the time of day, but I would want to see more than a circle of people in wheelchairs around the piano.

I had a wonderful tour and visit guided by Steve. I believe Ingleside to be a wonderful Senior Living community.

This review is for an elderly family member's stay in rehab. The huge problem with Ingleside Rock Creek is with the aides that perform the vast majority of the face-to-face work with residents. With the exception of two male aides who were great, the rest were far below mediocre. Even though the facility claims the response time is 15 minutes, there were multiple occasions where the wait exceeded an hour and even more where the wait exceeded 30 minutes. In one instance, I arrived at the facility to see my loved one in anguish waiting for help after having sat in filth for over an hour. Meanwhile, the two aides on call were on their phones in the common room doing absolutely nothing. If I was not regularly at the facility to keep an eye on things and advocate for my family member, things would have been even worse. The majority of the aides appear disinterested and seem bothered when you ask them to do their jobs. I believe a lot of them are independent contractors, which is part of the "don't care" problem. If you are considering Ingleside, you will need to keep a close eye on your loved one to ensure they are getting appropriate care. My family member has mobility issues but still has her wits about her. I would be very worried for patients that could not speak for themselves. My loved one is now at a (less expensive) facility, where the aides are absolutely amazing. As for the good: the room and facilities are great, as were the therapists, nurse practicioner and doctor. They are the only reasons that I gave any stars.

My husband and I took a tour of Ingleside at Rock Creek yesterday and we were very impressed. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and competent. Steve Noel was thorough and provided us with all relevant information while also making us feel very welcomed. Moreover, everyone seemed to know each others name “ “ staff and residents. Ingleside is somewhat smaller than other retirement communities that we have toured and we liked this. It had a strong community feel while still having all the offerings and amenities that we would expect. We were very impressed with the entertainment choices. They have many musical performances and lectures on site, facilitated perhaps by its location in Washington DC. We will definitely be considering relocating there.

My partner Mel and I met with Steve Noel on January 25. Steve was gracious, very informative, and went out of his way to answer my many questions. Many thanks!

Dining room service is very good goods management
October 2024
It was striking to arrive for a tour as the Friday afternoon lecture was about to start. The room was pretty full. People were alert, eager, and attentive. That in itself was impressive. After seeing the common facilities - and several units, we made our way through the post lecture wine & cheese event. The attendees were engaged in lively discussion. It was a happy involved group.
October 2024
Steve was terrific. He was thoughtful concerned, detailed, and tailored the visit to our needs and expectations as well as answered our myriad questions and even told us about options at other places. it was simply an excellent visit.
October 2024
We were shown around by Mr Noel of the Marketing Department. He was thorough in his explanations and was very considerate in repeating answers when needed. He took us seemingly everywhere, showing us apartments of different sizes and locations so that we might make a mature choice. We also saw all the common spaces at Ingleside. They are charming in style and practical for their intended usages -- from dining rooms to sewing rooms to pool tables. This is a first-rate place my wife and I would be happy to join, all the more so since we could not help but notice the warm interactions among residents and the comfortable and personal way in which residents interacted with staff. Mr Noel was also charmingly forthright (and sympathetic) in explaining to us why there is such a long waiting list to enter Ingleside. Having seen what we have seen, and having reflected among ourselves about what we had experienced, my wife and I now fully understand the long waiting list too. Who on earth said that life is a bed of roses?
October 2024
Steve Noel did an exceptional job of introducing us to Ingleside and answering our many questions. He is the right man for the job he holds. We were especially impressed with his engagement with other staff and residents as we toured the buildings. He knows everyone by name And greets them cordially. This speaks volumes about the inviting and inclusive nature of the Ingleside community.
September 2024
Steve was an outstanding representative of Ingleside Rock Creek. He is extremely knowledgeable and knows both staff and residents. He helped me to understand how Ingleside functions without putting any pressure on me. I am definitely considering Rock Creek Ingleside. Steve definitely is part of this decision.

Steve Noel, Director of Sales, listened attentively to my interests. He gave me a carefully tailored tour of Ingleside that was well-aligned with my priorities. Ingleside is ideally located for those inclined to take advantage of all D.C. has to offer.

November 2023
We were disappointed with our stay at Ingleside. My husband was there for five weeks receiving subacute rehab after a stroke. The facility is beautiful but the services are wanting. Where to start? First, summoning caregivers is extremely difficult. Despite the brand-new facility, they provide little school bells - tinkle bells - for calling staff. Staff only hear them if walking by, and there’s no accountability if there are long wait times. Why wasn’t some high tech system built into this new facility? Second, there were insufficient Hoyer lifts for transferring paralyzed patients. The ones they did have sometimes weren’t charged. One lift ran out of charge in the middle of lifting my husband, leaving him dangling precariously. This is completely unacceptable Third, the individual therapists were good (two were excellent), but the overall program seemed haphazard with no clear plan for the patient. My husband was left in his room for three weeks, not going to the gym for therapy or not leaving it just for a change in scenery to boost his mental well-being. I had to complain to get them to focus on this aspect of his therapy. Fourth, the caregiving was haphazard. Some individuals were kind, diligent and responsive, but others were less so. One or two were downright hostile. Finally, dealing with the billing department has been frustrating. They sent only bottom-line charges with no itemization or explanation. When we questioned them, they took months finally to explain. Then they added late fees because we didn’t pay until we finally got that explanation. In short, I’d recommend going elsewhere for rehab therapy if you have a choice.
February 2023
It' s rehab has declined from when my mother was there a year and a half ago until now as well as the some of the aides are disrespectfu!l

I like that they get to know me.

My father has a stroke back in September 2021. After he was discharge from the hospital and acute rehabilitation it was advised that he continue rehabilitation at a skilled nursing facility. Ingleside was my first choice because of the great reviews I had read. Well when my father was transfer to Ingleside I spoke to the director of nursing Boi whom seem to very candied in our conversation. He even shared I was jot my fathers point / emergency contact not understanding how that could be, when his admission paperwork was sent over from another facility with All my information provided. After that night I was unable to speak to anyone from the medical team until 9 days later the day my father was bring discharged. Prior to his discharge a was in very close contact with the Social Worker Kim to prepare for his discharge planning. Two days before my fathers actually discharge date I asked if someone (Dr/ Nurse) on the medical team would follow up with me. Due to following up his medication prescriptions, pharmacy we would be using. Needless to say the day my father was discharged on a home on a Saturday with no prescriptions available nor any been called in prior to him being discharged. When I contacted the nurses station someone finally answer I spoke to Nurse Beatrice and do eager to rush me off the phone as I was attempting inquire about my how would my fathers prescriptions would be handled. She then told me they the Dr. had called the prescriptions in. I began to question her statement bring I hadn’t spoke with anyone from the medical team to provide any forthcoming information. After getting my father home it took me over 4 hours to get his medication called in and picked up. The follow with this horrible. The way this staffing handled his discharge planning was very neglectful. The facility is beautiful, but the staffing needs a lot of work and possible some retraining. Not my ideal place of sending my love one. What looks good on the outside isn’t always good on the inside .

The Ingleside at Rock Creek is an amazing facility located in Washington DC for the seniors in our family and community. The facility is so large, it would almost qualify as a small city. It's architecture dates back in this area's history, built of off what use to be a previous assisted living facility. There are several residences that range from hospice, assisted living, medical care and independent living. On my visit I was amazed at quality of residential amenities such as a library, walking area and an on premises medical facility with staff. There is so much going on here that if I hadn't come here this evening I wouldn't have known this location existed. I think this facility supported by Capital Caring is the best facility I have come across with respect to other hospice and assisted living facilities from my observations. The staff is very helpful in every respect of providing information and assistance - it is that kind of customer service for the public and the residents that places this property at the highest level of institutions to place lived ones at with full knowledge they seek be taken care of. Ideally, I am one of those that wouldn't want to have a parent in any facility other than my own home; however, given the beauty and professional atmosphere I had the pleasure to experience, the Ingleside at Rock Creek could easily change my mind. Great place, no doubt about it.
December 2020
After living in the neighborhood for almost 50 years, we moved in late September into one of the new Independent Living apartments at Ingleside Rock Creek. In what is admittedly one of the most stressful years ever, the move was amazingly easy. Ingleside had provided excellent orientation for those of us moving in and referred us to many helpful resources. And we found ourselves immediately "at home,", despite the limitations on social interaction which are in place here as well as in our larger community. While we cannot gather with other residents for meals in the dining room or other eating places within the complex, everyone -- staff and residents -- is very friendly and eager to meet each other. It's actually a bit like the first year at college, although due to masks, I must confess that I have introduced myself several times to the same person! Staff and residents do a remarkable job of getting us together via Zoom -- to meet each other, discuss books, exercise daily, ask questions of management, hear interesting speakers and share musical performances. IRC actually models "engaged living;" it's not just a slogan. For example, today's Washington Post spotlights a new program through which residents are volunteering to mentor staff members' children. .

WE moved to Ingleside Rock Creek this summer looking forward to meeting a group of really interesting residents and enjoying good meals and fine company. Covid has greatly limited the mingling and community dining, but the apartment we moved into is lovely, and the staff could not be more helpful, friendly and responsive. There are plenty of opportunities to get to know fellow residents through the ubiquitous Zoom meetings and outdoor socializing,, and by appointment, I can continue to stay limber at the fitness center. The campus is beautifully landscaped, with a lovely path to next-door Rock Creek for the adventurous.
October 2020
Even though Covid19 disrupted IRC's schedule for occupancy of the new buildings, we were kept well informed and our preferred schedule was accommodated. The IRC Marketing Staff and the Move-In Manager were very supportive. The Food Service has managed to deliver meals from a good selection of entrees in spite of the necessary closing of the dining rooms. The Maintenance Staff has been excellent in making adjustments which are inevitable in a newly constructed facility. The wait-list has been long but we are delighted with our choice of IRC as our CCRC home.

My husband was severely disabled and I had just retired from an active law practice. My world was getting smaller and smaller. Then we moved to Ingleside at Rock Creek and my world opened up. Our future care was assured in this beautiful continuing care community. I tried new activities outside my comfort zone”poetry reading, new exercise challenges, fascinating discussion groups, art lessons, evening cocktails with new friends in the lovely landscaped courtyard, walks on the trails of Rock Creek. Even with the Covid 19 restrictions, my world grew larger and larger. We were protected and cared for. My burdens lightened. My days brightened. Ingleside at Rock Creek was the perfect choice for us.

August 2020
My wife and I chose Ingleside because of its reputation as a premier facility and its park/urban location adjacent to our neighborhood of many years. We moved in at the end of February and had about three weeks of "normal" living before covid-19 shut down our dining room and many of the activities which we had come to enjoy and appreciate. While the restrictions have restricted our ability to get to know our new neighbors, we have felt protected and well cared for during this emergency. And zoom has helped us enjoy a modified experience. We really love our sunny, roomy, and pleasant apartment and getting used to this new living style has been easy. The food is good, with lots of variety, the staff is friendly and helpful, the surroundings pleasant (the interior public spaces, the landscaping and "ravine" natural area, and the neighborhood), and the residents are an amazing collection of people from different and interesting backgrounds.
July 2020
My husband and I were grateful that the timing of our move to Ingleside occurred about 2 weeks before move-ins were halted due to the Corona virus. We had a taste of what normal life is like: meeting new neighbors in the dining room, assorted exercise classes and the Friday lecture programs. While we are still dining (room service!) in our apartments, there is life outside of our new walls. We have continued to meet new people as we are not restricted in the out of doors, other than the proper distancing and mask wearing. Ingleside continues to look out for us and we are so happy that we no longer have to worry about whether a tree is going to fall on our house and other worries over home maintenance. For us, moving to Ingleside couldn't come soon enough!

I can't thank Lorie and Damien enough for helping my husband get into Rehab at Ingleside after his hip replacement surgery. It was such a blessing for us. We were efficiently guided through the entry process and warmly received by staff on Saturday. Kenneth was especially helpful and kind in getting us settled and providing lead nursing care during his stay. We had a rough few days at first with night chills, sweats, reaction to medicine. etc. but things slowly Improved. He began feeling optimistic about his recovery and worked hard. He had lost his confidence, since both of his knees need to be replaced and he felt unsteady. I was elated when I saw him walking for the first time without a walker. The therapists, nurses, aids, social worker, dietitian, and staff were all helpful. Suggestion: They could use more nurses and aides especially at night to reduce response time especially for new patients who are in the early stage of recovery. The food was surprisingly both healthy and very tasteful. There is no way that I was in any condition to care for my husband at home nor could he or I feel that he would be safe there. We are so glad that Ingleside was our first choice for rehab. We had a chance to get some air and sit in the lovely court yard. We also met a few of the residents who were friendly and welcoming. Based on our experience, we are considering the possibility of joining the Ingleside community in the future.
October 2017
This facility is an organizational mess. Well-meaning caregivers cannot succeed when they are over-stretched and under-supported, in some cases not possessing sufficient training. The employees seem to have little voice in making positive change. Don’t go there until management improves.
May 2017
Two features of life at Ingleside I really value: First that each of us can choose to be alone when we want to or be with other people in activities we enjoy together...there are daily possibilities for both extroverts and introverts! Secondly, we are free to assess our own level of risk and choose accordingly. For example , we can swim whenever we want, walk wooded paths when we want, work in the art room when we want. We are not surrounded with management-set rules and schedules. This freedom honors our age and wisdom and is at the core of our belief in Independent Living.
May 2017
One of the smartest things my husband and I did was to move into Ingleside 16 years ago. We were among the pioneers who were the first to inhabit the new apartments attached to what was called then, The Presbyterian Home. You can’t beat the location if you are a city girl like me, and the friends we have made here are the best. Who knew that I would soon be taking up watercolor painting as a new hobby? When my husband died, I had a built-in support system with my friends and neighbors. Other plusses are the Friday lectures by outstanding experts in their fields, access to exercise led by physical fitness professionals, excellent food every night with friends in the Ingleside dining room, movies twice a week and trips to museums and concerts in Washington. I’m not looking forward to the disruption of the next few years as we expand our living quarters, but I am confident Ingleside management will take good care of us as they have in the past. Page B. A year ago we moved into independent apartment at Ingleside and love it. It's a vibrant, active and caring community. We love the location-- near our favorite urban amenities and we can also retreat into the peace and beauty of the adjacent Ravine Trail and Rock Creek Park. The other residents have led very interesting lives, are very welcoming and we are making many new friends. As a member of the Health and Wellness Committee I am especially impressed with the vision of the new leadership, their dedication to make our Health Center and related services the best they can be, and many improvements are already underway. We look forward to the expansion of the facilities when several of our best friends will be joining us.

My husband and I have traveled the country (Arizona, California, North Carolina, Oregon, Virginia) looking at many CCRC locations. We are delighted to have settled on Ingleside at Rock Creek, Creekside. The business model is sound, the location superb for the city environment we desire (while still in the midst of Rock Creek Park), the new health center, and residences promise to be excellent. We could not be happier with our choice of a future home.
