Unsure who is writing the glowing reviews (staff?). We’ve been there well over a decade, and pay nearly $11,000/month for meals that are inconsistently delivered, are poor in quality or likely not even what was ordered, mold growing in the shower, water leaking from the ceiling, nurses and Director of Nursing with a crappy attitude and a director who is out to lunch. You will pay for luxury, but you’ll get the same service you get anywhere for much less. Maybe in independent it’s better because you rely on them less, but I’m telling you, it’s not worth the hefty price tag. We’ve just been here too long to move.

Ashley, a wonderful nurse who has been visiting me regularly at The Kenwood by Senior Star since my recent surgery, has been an absolute star in her own right. She is clearly experienced and skilled”on one visit she calmly helped us turn what looked like a small pharmacy on our counter into a simple, medication plan, saving us from confusion and me from needing a second cup of coffee just to sort pills. On each visit, she checked the surgical site, explained what normal healing should look like, and gently reassured us that we didn’t need to call 911 every time something itched, twitched, or changed color. More than anything, Ashley is wonderfully warmhearted; she treats me as a person, not a chart, and somehow turns medical check‘ins into friendly visits where we end up smiling almost as much as we’re learning. She shows up when she says she will, never makes us feel rushed, and brings just enough humor to make the less glamorous parts of recovery a little easier to face”if laughter is good medicine, then Ashley is clearly part of the treatment team. In a community that prides itself on strong on‘site nursing and medical support, Ashley exemplifies the best of what The Kenwood by Senior Star and Buckeye Senior Rehab offers its residents and their families, and we are genuinely grateful (and occasionally happily amused) to have her on our side

So many wonderful things about the Kenwood Star! I have been so impressed with the programming offered . It is clear that they put a lot of thought and effort into creating a vibrant, engaging environment for residents. In particular, outings, speakers education morning exercise classes, movies have been a highlight. It is wonderful to see so many opportunities for socializing/staying active/learning new things. The activities staff is incredibly enthusiastic/organized/welcoming, and they truly go the extra mile to ensure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

4 months ago my parents moved into independent living. Although they didn't want to leave their house, we all knew it was no longer the right fit for them. They now wonder why they waited so long. They love their new life. They have made friends, love having all the amenities, and were so happy not to have to deal with all this things the winter weather threw at us this year. Our experience has been nothing but positive. The staff is super friendly, and the residents went out of their way to befriend my parents. The whole experience has been like a mini-fountain of youth. New experiences and new people have made each day richer for them. We had looked at a number of other facilities that offered a spectrum of living options, and I am so glad my parents found their way here. Thank you Lauren for helping them to find the right unit for them.

Top notch, first class facility in a sea of mediocrity, or worse. Beautiful facility too, but that doesn’t matter much at all, unless the staff inside are professional and caring. These folks are. Do your homework if considering for Memory Care. Lots of promises and pledges go out the window once your loved one is in place. Rate hikes make it even more expensive once in. Some very caring staff members in this unit, however plenty of staff insubordination and turnover, inconsistencies with unit housekeeping, and overall cleanliness. Food is so-so. Executive staff unresponsive to concerns.

Toured as a possibility for my parents. And the place was spec. Very hotel like, super clean, loaded with amenities. Great location for independent living close to mall, eateries, outdoor and Indoor activities. Really gives independent living plus assistance if needed. Culinary is excellent fun themed menus with culinary ideas from around the world. Hospitable and welcoming. Lots of different floor plans including townhomes, Penthouse spacious living to small units.

My father was a resident at the Kenwood for approximately 5 years. His final 3 years were spent in assisted living on the second floor. He received excellent care from the nurses and aids. Nurses Kathy and Audry were so sweet and took extra time to visit with my dad. Kathy made cookies for all the residents ever Christmas. Audry was so attentive and gave my dads cat extra TLC. Denise was one of my dads aids that was just so loving and took great care in making sure my dad was ready for the day. Nija was also one of dads favorites. She took extra time to be with him and played chess with him. The activities were top notch. We often would go to the Diane Shields lectures. They were very intersting and my dad loved it. Dad died a few weeks ago and we're glad he spent his final years in such a beautiful and caring facility.

My father has had a wonderful experience staying in Assisted Living at the Kenwood. Kim the Community Relations Coordinator made him feel at home from the minute he walked thru the door and has maintained a warm relationship with him during his entire stay. I am in healthcare myself and can tell you that the nursing staff including Kathy, Audrey and Stacy and all the aides are second to none. They are caring professional and extremely "reachable." I was able to call and text them at anytime. The Food and Beverage Director, Rashaun is wonderful and the food is delicious. We have been incredibly pleased with everything about the Kenwood. They have treated my dad as family! Highly recommend!

She was very attentive to what our concerns and needs were while we considered whether to move to The Kenwood. Since moving to The Kenwood in November 2024, Kim has continued her excellent service by checking in with us to help our transition be as smooth as possible. My wife and I took a tour of your facility. We were so impressed with Kim the Community Relations Coordinator and the staff we met during the tour. The activities director was by far the best one we've met while touring other facilities. We really liked the nursing care floor layout and the ratio of staff to patients. We were impressed with the Head Nurse and the Medical Director of the Nursing Care floor. There was a chef dedicated to the nursing care floor and he was very impressive and friendly. He truly seemed to care about what was served and how. The facility was very clean, bright, and wide hallways made a difference to us as we have seen some rather dark and narrow facilities in making the rounds. They had a huge album collection and a piano on the nursing floor as well as a dining room dedicated to the nursing floor patients.

Spent a lot of time at the facility and I can't imagine a better place for a senior to live--no matter the level of care. My mother-in-law enjoyed her years in her independent living apartment, which was beautiful. When her health required it, she moved to a room in the skilled nursing unit, and was treated with such care and concern--I still tear up when I think about it. Honestly, I have never seen this kind of compassionate attention in a nursing facility. I cannot thank the staff enough. I highly recommend The Kenwood.

I am so excited to have moved my mom here. Once she saw the apartment available, she immediately wanted to live here and was moved in within a couple weeks. Molly showed us around and had all the answers. I didn’t know they had memory care as well so Molly showed us that area and we were sold. Senior Star at The Kenwood offered the ability to care for my Mother in their Memory Care unit and my Father in Independent Living. When my Father could no longer care for his wife's needs, The Kenwood took her into their loving arms. He could see her every day and they typically had dinner together every night. Dad made many new friends there which made his last few years quite enjoyable. At every turn, The Kenwood and its caring staff exceeded our expectations.

My wonderful and loving 94 year-old mother was reluctant to leave her beautiful Hyde Park home of many decades but her health required her to be living in a safe environment and she conceded that she needed to start a new chapter in her life living at a Senior Living Community. The Kenwood fit everything I wanted for my mom and hopefully everything for her. I was nervous that mom’s moving to The Kenwood would be depressing for her as it would signal an end to a chapter in her life that she has loved and enjoyed for so long. It is not an easy task for a child to oversee their aging parent transition into a new life as it is filled with emotions of leaving behind the past and praying that their parent will be happy and well-taken care of in their new home. My mom moved to The Kenwood in September and The Kenwood EXCEEDED my mom’s and my expectations! My mom LOVES her new independent living apartment and the VIEWS! Within days of her moving in my mom said I don’t miss my home at all and that said it all to me knowing that she was happy in her new home. Two months later she continues raving about how much she loves her new home and the helpful and always pleasant staff. None of this could be possible without the amazing and exceptional staff at The Kenwood who are generous with their time and their genuine care to help us with our needs and questions. The staff is like family to us and Words cannot express how grateful I am to ALL of them. They are truly Heroes in the Workplace! I wish to give a special shout out to Kimberly Koop-Bryson, (Community Relations Coordinator) and Maddie Rosenberger, (Move Coordinator) for being the amazing, kind and generous people they are and for providing a smooth transition for my mom (and me) during these challenging COVID times! I want to thank all of the administrators and associates for taking such good care of my parents and all of the other Assisted Living residents at The Kenwood these days. Although I was sad to have to cancel my trip to see my parents in March, I am SO GRATEFUL that you closed the Kenwood to visitors as early as you did. I was impressed with the letter you sent out before the April holidays encouraging families NOT to take the residents out. I was also so pleased to have a nice video chat with my folks last week! So great you have encouraged this kind of staying in touch. You are doing all the right things to try to keep the community safe in careful and caring ways! I'm writing today especially because some wonderful person (I don't know who), who works on assisted living I presume, did some artwork/writing on my Mom and Dad's living room window a few weeks ago. I want you to know that now, every time I speak with my mom, (or sometimes twice in the same conversation, LOL), she tells me: "Over there on the window in big letters it says 'You Are Loved'. Isn't that wonderful?" This has made my mom so happy! I think and hope that seeing You Are Loved on her window every day reminds her and my Dad that I and others, even though we can't visit, love them so much! This means so much to me and I think to mom as well!!! So special!!! So thoughtful and wonderful!!! Thank you thank you thank you again and keep up the good work!

We have enjoyed every minute at this location. My wife and I want to remain positive in our feedback. There have been several times that our service in the dining facility have lacked polite-quality service, however this has been overshadowed by the dominance of extreme courtesy by most all staff. The quality of the food has been consistently good. We have noticed a reduction in the size of the portions which was much needed as it represented a reduction in waste. All building staff have been quick to respond to questions of needed assistance in a timely fashion. We have really enjoyed the variety of all the social activities, and the many programs providing information, entertainment and education. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to provide these observations.

My parents have lived there for going on 6 years. At first it was a WOW what a great place. The food was great, service was good and they had a apt for out of town guest to stay in. Now, well its just ok. The worst part is the dinning.I have been in the restaurant business for 30 yrs. 20 at montgomery Inn. The food bad, service the worst. 10 mins between drinks and the salad than 20 min wait for the food. If a server cant handle three tables, hire more servers. Hire a busser just to clear plates when the guest is finished. No parties over 8, and dont think you can drop by to see your parents and join them for dinner. Thats a NO!, you didnt call ahead. Dont bother coming down at 4 to have a cocktail before dinner, or have a bloody mary with breakfast on the weekend BAR is not open. REALLY . For what it cost to live there you should be able too.
