We found Brookdale Southside to have the friendliest staff and residents when compared to the other facilities that we toured. We love our home here. We are not going anywhere else....

I have lived at Brookdale Southside since April of 2021. From the beginning, I was invited to sit with several residents who became my friends. There are various activities: flex your brain, one day university these are my favorite. Games for examples: bingo, penuckle, bonco & dominios. Also daily work out activities , happy hour each day, many time with someone playing the piano . The dining room offers servers choices for meals; residents can have input with the menu chats. There are shopping opportunities, dining away, movie nights every Friday, a town hall meeting each month, Bible studies and every Sunday transportation to two different churches or church in the building.My name is Margaret Jo Blevins and I am happy at Brookdale Southside!!!!!!!!!!

My mom has been here about a month, and she loves it. She moved in about two weeks after my aunt, and they both enjoy the activities, other residents, and peaceful location very much. The management has been friendly and helpful and she speaks highly about all aspects of the facility.

Our family feels so blessed to have Brookdale Southside. The staff is so friendly, empathetic, and patient. The food is good quality and tastes great (my mother lost 15 lbs. in 7 months in her last home due to her picky eating and is finally getting back to a healthy weight). Their team takes care of the building and grounds- everything is clean and well-maintained. It has been such a weight off my shoulders to know my mother is in such good hands - thank you Brookdale Southside team!!

We lived here for two plus years. Left because we were not getting our monies worth. Food was hit or miss, usually a miss. The villas were nice and comfortable and in a nice secluded place.

My mom has been living in the Clare Bridge section for about four months. She had a smooth transition due in large part to the attentive staff who helped her make connections with fellow residents who are now her friends. The facility is clean and fresh smelling but the most fantastic part of living here is the kind nature of the staff and skilled nurses. My mother seems to enjoy many of the enrichment activities offered throughout the week but she is also quick to tell me that she is free to not participate if she feels like taking a nap, working a puzzle or something else in her own private room. We are happy with the choice we made and I can recommend it to others. My mom does tell me that some residents have a harder time adjusting at first, but it has been cool to see another side of my mom as she tries to help these residents when she can. I usually leave with a smile on my face and a heart that has been touched.

I moved to Brookdale Southside (from Volusia County, FL) at the end of August! Best decision ever! I lived alone & was more lonely than I realized. When I came here, it took 3 days before I had friends to eat with & play with! My apartment is cozy, beautiful & comfortable. The staff is helpful & kind. Yesterday was Halloween: the entertainment staff worked serious overtime to create a festive, fun celebration! The Haunted House was spectacular & suitably scary. The music & snacks were great! And the costumes blew it out of the water! I came away feeling valued. & cared for & cared about. When you’re 80+ that isn’t always the norm. I love it here! Come enjoy being old! This is the best place ever!

Leaving our house in Del Webb was hard, but it was the best decision we ever made. Brookdale Southside is Home with a huge family of friends that you don't have living in a single house. We are a community together. You never have to be lonely again. We are so Happy in this wonderful facility. Thank You Brookdale Southside for all you do for us. You go beyond.

I truly love living here at Brookdale Southside with its helpful Management, Staff and Residents. It has a great variety of activities offered within the community as well as excursions outside. I am pleased with the food and services provided and the friends that I have made here. I am also thankful for the opportunities to engage with and serve my fellow residents. We moved our mother here almost 2 years ago from a facility in NJ. The first thing I'll mention is that the cost was dramatically less here! Now, after my mother has passed I can tell you that they did exactly what they promised to do. Our big concern was that our mother would never have to be moved again, and that's exactly what happened. They provided a home for her until the end of her life. Never once did they say she had to be moved somewhere else because she had become too hard to care for. They kept their promise. The people that run the facility are truly special, like any business, you will see caregivers come and go, but throughout our time there, the management was always good about keeping the good ones and letting the others move on. These facilities are certainly a challenge to operate, I for one am extremely happy that I chose Brookdale Southside for the last years of my mother's life. I do have to send out a special acknowledgment to the activities director in memory care. Her name is Lena and she is incredibly special! I also have to commend Sal on his fantastic hands on management of all of Brookdale. Finally, the person in charge of memory care, which is where my mother was, came in after we were already there for quite some time, his name is Randy, and he turned out to be an extremely good person at the end of my mother's life! None of these places are perfect, but this was definitely the perfect place for my mother.

Since the arrival of Salvador DeCaria, my mom's care has greatly improved. The room is cleaner, the staff is attentive and communicates with me regularly. The staff is always smiling and helpful while doing a difficult job. Well done Salvador and team.

Been living at Brookdale Southside for over 4 years and love it here. The staff is very friendly and professional. Residents are treated with respect and there is a wide variety of services and programs offered here. Amenities are plentiful and the opportunity to share your experiences with other residents is welcome.

This is an older facility which does provide larger apartments and beautiful grounds; however, my mother constantly complains about the food. They have limited food choices and the quality has really deteriorated in the past few months. When the time comes to transition from independent to assisted living, we'll probably consider other providers.

They have stopped regular table service meals in the dining room because they don't pay enough to retain staff to serve the meals. The happy hour and group dining is the highlight of the day for my parents and they were sold on this when they moved in. They also had very inconsistent meals during covid in terms of quality. I would not recommend the place, and if you do come GET THE SERVICE COMTTMENTS IN WRiTING. (which they will refuse to do? Without a disclaimer saying they can cancel any all services at any time).

I visited looking for a place for my senior parents in-law. I was impressed by atmosphere and quietness of the grounds. A tour of the 3 types of independent living apartments showed good care of the building and facilities as well as willingness to work with the occupants on flooring etc. The staff seemed very pleasant, professional and instructive. We sent a contract to our loved ones for inspection. The facility is also very convenient for us.

I have a loved one at this facility. Overall I think they are receiving adequate care. Currently, the service and cleanliness of the dinning rooms is substandard. While this is my opinion, there are concrete and undeniable instances of poor quality. Missing condiments on the table - the often disabled population must get up to retrieve lemon, sweetener, proper silverware. Presentation of menu; tattered and food stained. Accuracy of request - Not getting the residents orders right Lack of staffing and supervision - while residents are asking for assistance, drink refill, correcting of wrong orders; several staff were sitting and chatting. Dirty dishes and used glasses remaining on the table - very unappetizing! At this time in this populations lives, eating is one of the few pleasures left. This facility should make meal time special.
