My wife & I moved to Kingswood just over 5 years ago into independent living in a villa, which is one of their living options. However, we chose it because it offers life care at every stage. Independent, as well as assisted, memory care and health care. This will be our place until we die, with no more late-in-life moves. What has impressed us most, is the quality of life and relationships we have experienced while living here. In our experience, the staff really cares in all areas of management and service to the residents. The daily offering of food choices is superb. We highly recommend this caring community to others.

I am a very happy resident of the Kingswood community. I first became acquainted with Kingswood when I brought my wife here to the memory support section due to her dementia. When my wife passed away in January 2022, I needed to make a choice about where to live because I did not need assisted living, where I had been living with my wife for a year and a half. We had sold our house during Covid when we received a cash offer we could not refuse. So I owned no house when my wife passed away. I could have rented an apartment, or bought a condominium, or selected another senior living facility. After taking all factors into consideration, including doing some visiting to other independent living facilities, I found myself very content to stay at Kingswood and go to independent living. One of the many things I really liked was the fact that Kingswood is a continuing care retirement community, which means it handles all levels of care from independent living to skilled nursing. There is no need to move out and find another facility when one needs a new level of care. Now that I have lived here over three years, I am even more of a big fan of Kingswood. Yes, though I consider myself relatively healthy now at 78, I am really glad I did not wait until I was older and less mobile to come here and get involved in this community. When you are able to live here as an active person, it feels like you are living in a resort, The pleasant dining room, the large, beautiful swimming pool, the hot tub, the showers and locker rooms just next to the pool, and the fitness center all combine with the other things to make it seem like a resort as well as an activity center. So many of the staff members delight in making our lives fruitful and interesting that there is always something to do or someone to talk to. The Activities Director, as anyone will tell you, is amazingly creative, full of energy, and loves to give us many opportunities to be involved. This is a not for profit corporation that was founded on spiritual principles of love, respect, kindness, inclusion and the welfare of the whole person. The Board of Directors of the organization is composed of community minded local individuals who care for the welfare of senior citizens rather than being composed of national investors in a for-profit company looking to make a big return on their investment. Kingswood does not have to make money for investors and shareholders. Kingswood charges for its services to pay its bills and to keep serving its community. Kingswood is about our welfare, not about profit for investors. The Executive Director is an excellent administrator, a very approachable, personable individual, who answers questions forthrightly. He and other staff members work hard to keep us informed of all relevant matters at Kingswood. The dining room has a tremendous range of food choices. The food is very high-quality. The beef and other meat, including the steaks, hamburgers, and fish is excellent quality, The whole atmosphere of the dining room is like a high class restaurant, with cloth napkins and tablecloths. If a resident is disappointed in a dish, the Dining Room staff want to know so they can correct the matter and make sure the resident is satisfied. The coffee and tea are always free (as are all the desserts on Sundays) and the staff is trained to always aim to please. The dining room is also a place to meet new people if you desire, or to dine alone if you prefer, or to invite guests. Kingswood has private rooms where you can throw a private party, and there is no charge for the use of the room. There are many wonderful people who live here and serve here, and I feel very blessed to be a part of this community! October 28, 2023.

I've been working at Kingswood for almost a year now. One thing I will say is we have a lot of fun. I'll give you an example of the fun we have here. At thee end of last summer my Boss Buddy pulled me out of the kitchen and said "take your apron off and follow me." As we were leaving the building I had noticed we had residents and employees fishing in the pond we have out front. He handed me a pole and said "take a load off and have fun with our residents." So I did, and man o man did I have fun. This is just one example of the many things we have going on here at Kingswood.

I just wanted to take a moment and recognize an exceptional staff member you have. I work for a durable medical equipment company and had the pleasure of meeting and interacting with Ryan today. I'm not sure what his title/position is but he escorted me through your facility as I was picking up some of our equipment. Ryan was very pleasant and helpful. He made my job so much easier by not only escorting me but also by helping me take our equipment from a 3rd floor apartment out to my van. Very few facilities have people willing or able to do this. It saved me a few trips! Please let Ryan know how much I appreciated his help!

Ive worked at Kingswood Senior Living for over 12 years, Kingswood community truly cares about their employees and more so, about the people they serve. Not every applicant can measure up to Kingswood standards, but that is what sets Kingswood apart. I would most definitely recommend Kingswood as a place to come for rehab, to live your senior life or to work. The quality and variety of food in the dining room is very good, and the dining room staff is friendly. Our residents can take advantage of the swimming pool, and the high quality workout area. The location is convenient, easy to get anywhere from there. Finally, never underestimate peace of mind. This high quality Continuing Care Retirement Community will continue to provide excellent surroundings and care for your loved ones through every stage of their lives. Kingswood is a confidence and peace of mind with lifelong care!!!

My mother has been a resident here for over 10 years, beginning Independent Living then Assisted Living for the last 3-4 years. My father came with her and both enjoyed the community more than they could have imagined. Moving from out of state, they made new friends quickly and took advantage of the activities provided so were never bored. Highlights included incredible food in the community dining room provided when they chose to eat(no set eating shifts), swimming both in classes as well as free swim, exercising in a gym with multiple machines monitored by staff, amazing music performances from the UMKC Conservatory doctoral students as well as members of their own community and elsewhere, lectures and discussions of important issues of the day as well as travel, etc, poetry readings, knitting club, bridge sessions, dances, community choral group, once a month Catholic Mass as well as Sunday communion services weekly, vespers, and on and on. All the staff in the dining room as well as office staff, Kathleen the chaplain, and many more are caring and about making our parents new home the best it could be. After my father passed away, my mother eventually moved to Assisted Living. I cant say enough about what this move did for her. She eats three well balanced meals with her community but can eat in the main dining room whenever she chooses(pre-covid), has all the benefits of the activities in the general community but better much more monitoring and assistance as shes needed it. There were more activities than she could even enjoy in assisted living, she then made new friends again and kept those in the general community as well. Daily housekeeping has been a Godsend. Once Covid happened, Kingswood AL has done a phenomenal job of trying to keep the residents there from becoming depressed and actually my mom is doing as well as she ever has. The staff has added contact between residents as conditions allowed while at save time keeping them safe. They now eat together again, can visit each other and have exercise and many many fun activities remaining safe. The communication from the administrators and staff has been excellent and given us incredible peace of mind. We look forward to the day when we can visit Mom whenever we want again but in the meantime, shes in great hands. The decision to move to Kingswood for her ten years ago has truly been a blessing.

Kingswood has been a complete blessing for our family. My Mom moved into Memory Care the summer of 2019. It was a sudden move from the family home of 50+ years and left Mom very confused. The staff was wonderful and every single day helped her through what was a difficult transition. In the Fall of 19 we actually moved Mom to a different facility to be close to my Dad. Ultimately - we realized the best thing for both of them was residency at Kingswood AND they both now reside at Kingswood. We could not be happier. Weve seen a lot in the past 18 months as weve tried to do the best thing for our parents. Kingswood exceeds expectations across the board.

When it became clear that my uncle was not safe living by himself we investigated several senior communities in the KC area. He was reluctant to abandon his home, but we were impressed with Kingswood and convinced him to give it a try. It has been a wonderful choice. He began in assisted living, but it eventually became clear that he needed to be in memory care. We were so happy that we chose a facility with multiple levels of care on the same campus. The facilities are very good and kept clean. Food is good. Most important to us were the staff, people that would be working with and supporting him. He has been treated with respect, kindness, and compassion by everyone. It is clear there is an institutional commitment to helping residents live meaningful and happy lives. I would like to give a special shout out to Karlene in administration, Thomas in dining, Emma in activities, and Chris in nursing. Thank you for your kindness to a much loved uncle!

Kingswood was ahead of the curve in putting protocols in place. It isnt fun for anyone to shelter-in-place. In looking for a new home for a loved-one, we were concerned about the environment, facilities, and staff reaction to issues (as they always will happen). With a parent living at Kingswood, it is a great place with wonderful facilities and a welcoming environment. While staff handling of issues is closer to a 4 (vs overall 5), they are still very good. It is unfortunate to read a past employee slamming the management. In all my years of work, there are always unhappy employees and they either work to make things better and, or complain & leave. Sometimes the first option just does not work. If that is the case, I certainly hope management reads that post and determines how to make it better. An overriding measure for me is that I feel my mother is safe and in an environment with a lot of other residents who truly care about Kingswood and the other residents. It is a hard transition for anyone in their later years having to change their way of life and where they lay their head at night. This transition was made easier by the other residents. That is part of what I like about this specific community. Facilities & Services -- Great food, wonderful dining area, very nice indoor heated swimming pool. The other public areas are all updated and welcoming. The transportation is one area to make sure you really understand as it does have a cost if you are not on the scheduled days to go to appointments. The new resident just needs to understand and be comfortable with that if he, she will not be driving.

Kingswood has AMAZING amenities like beautiful indoor therapeutic swimming pool the whole family can enjoy, indoor and outdoor sitting and game areas, multiple asthetically pleasing dining areas (unlike any of the other Senior Living places in town-and when making this decision we looked at ALL of the options around KC) with great food and much more! They also have AMAZINGLY loving staff working throughout the full continuum of care provided within the same location! Every Tuesday evening fun activities are planned each week...and so much more! Lots of greatness to recommend! I talk about Kingswood often and do so with great pride! Sign me: Doting Daughter who loves seeing my parents cared for and ENJOYING LIFE!
