Metcalfe Gardens provided our Mom with compassionate & professional care in her new home. They provided our family with incredible support, going above and beyond on a regular basis. All of us truly felt cared for and cared about. I have never met a kinder, more caring, more wonderful group of people in one place - including the director and management staff, the PSW'S, the nurses, the kitchen staff, the maitenance and housekeeping staff. Without exception they were all phenomenal. On the basis of a 5 star rating, I would honestly give them a 10. I highly recommend this amazing place.

My parents had had the pleasure of calling Metcalfe Gardens their home for their last few years, and I can confidently say it was a truly wonderful experience for them”and for our entire family. From the very beginning, the staff made us feel welcomed and supported. The office and reception team were always pleasant, professional, and eager to help with anything we needed. The care staff went above and beyond, treating my parents with kindness, respect, and genuine compassion. It was clear they were more than just caregivers”they became like extended family. A special thank you to Rhonda Kaplanis, who was always available and willing to assist in any way possible. Her support and dedication made a world of difference and gave us tremendous peace of mind. We are so grateful for the love and care our parents received at Metcalfe Gardens. It's a place where seniors are truly valued and cared for.

Our Dad was a resident at Metcalfe Gardens for only a few months but in that short time residents and staff made him feel immediately at home. We had to find him a home somewhat urgently and Rhonda from the beginning was so kind and helpful. Dad had exceptional care from all staff. We are grateful he was able to spend his last few months in such a comfortable and caring atmosphere. We thank each and everyone of you at Metcalfe .

After a thorough review of the retirement homes in St. Thomas, we chose Metcalfe Gardens for mom. Mom worked in a retirement home for over 20 years as a nurse and knows how things should be run. She's happy and says the staff have been terrific. Not to mention the great food options that leave her feeling quite satisfied. They've welcomed her with open arms and she has everything she needs including a bright, beautiful suite with a private bathroom and an extra sink and cupboards. They even let her bring her cat! And we know that THEY CARE! With their focus on the resident's well being and the wide assortment of activities, I was still worried that mom would just stay in her room and would be depressed. Instead, I see a huge smile on her face as she participates in the painting and crafts and see her signing up for more including social outings to local establishments. Within her first week she was feeling relaxed having had a massage and her hair done, right on site! She's even made new friends as she talks of cross stitch hobbies over meals in the dining room. We have peace of mind knowing that her needs are well looked after. Thank you to the team at Metcalfe for all that you do!

Staying at Metcalfe Gardens for a short stay after surgery is exactly what the Doctor ordered. Staff and residents are welcoming, helpful and make you feel like this is home. It's amazing that many staff have worked here for 20 + years! Dedication to residents combined with a Can Do attitude really offers remarkable care for residents. Meals are always delish, activities are plentiful and varied - Loved my hand paraffin treatment but my short stay time was finished before I could attend the Art Class ! I'd recommend Metcalfe Gardens for Short Term Stay and certainly for anyone seeking a comfortable home-like retirement residence for themselves or family members.

Rhonda is amazing! She helped get my mom into respite care and helped in every part of this journey. The home is spotless and smells great all of the time. My mom is very fussy about what she eats and she has enjoyed every single meal. The employees are helpful and friendly. There are activities 2-3 times a day. Anyone would be lucky to call this place home.

My 90-year old mom recently moved to Metcalfe Gardens. I’ve spent many hours there meeting everyone & watching this well-oiled machine run. Mom has a beautiful one-bedroom suite with living room & bathroom. The atmosphere is always pleasant & welcoming. Mom felt at home right away. The staff at every level is outstanding. Many of them have been there 15-30 years! They are such caring, helpful people who consistently go above & beyond their job descriptions to accommodate the residents’ needs & wishes. They have a wide variety of delicious meals with multiple choices. My mom loves the food. I’ve eaten there and was impressed. The cafe always has hot & cold drinks, fruit & snacks available. It’s a nice place to visit with guests. A varied selection of activities is offered every day to spark interests and keep residents entertained & busy. There is more fun in the games room, craft room, lounge areas, sun rooms, library and chapel/exercise room. They even have a hair salon open on Thursdays. Now that the weather is nice everyone is out enjoying the patio and garden pavilion areas. I am so glad we chose Metcalfe Gardens!

When My Mom and I requested for a tour at Metcalfe Gardens Retirement Residence in St.Thomas last late Fall 2023, we were immediately welcomed in a friendly atmosphere. Our questions were answered promptly both in person and emails. In addition, we were impressed with the services/activities they have for the residents. I am glad that my Mom is currently living and enjoying there.

My initial contact with Metcalfe Gardens was with Rhonda Kaplanis when seeking info on respite care after hip surgery. My first impressions were very positive. Facility was welcoming and home like.I chose to stay there three weeks after surgery. Best decision ever! Staff were friendly, caring and most helpful. Meals were great. Any questions, big or small, were always answered promptly.

All the staff there were very nice and helpful. Rhonda Kaplanis I believe her name is, was very accommodating and thought full to all of my dads needs. If his dementia did not progress so quickly, We would have stayed for much longer. Many thanks to all the wonderful staff.

I am a resident of Metcalfe. Gardens and when I heard that were to be in lock down and I couldn't share xmas , New Years with my family I was very upset. I finally realizedi it was fo my own good. Tthe staff at Metcalfe certainly stepped up to the plate and provided us with a wonderful xmas dinner and New Years party . where we had hats and noise makers.. My thanks to the wonderful staff at Metcalfe . Barbara Jones
