JKVE has been so great over the last year while my dad has transitioned into this community. The staff have been great with helping with his overall well being and assisting with medication management. The residents have been so welcoming. Everyone seems to look after one another there.

John Knox Village East is such a lovely apartment complex with ALOT of enmities that are included in the low monthly rent that are not on so many other Senior Independent living communities. Kurt and all the employees of JKVE are a 10 out of 10 connected and wonderful to the tenants. My 92yr old mother moved there in Oct 2025, and is thriving. No more sitting in her house watching TV alone. Waiting for phone to ring or a relative to stop by and see her or waiting for neighbors to come home from work. Eating alone, if she remembered to eat and wanting to have someone to go eat with or just go to church with. JKVE not only gives a tenant the choice of : Studio Apt 1BD rm Apt. With 1 or 2 bathrooms 2 BD rm Apt With 2 bathrooms They have within facilities: Beauty Shop Housekeeping Store Full Dinning Hall Weekly Church Service Full Monthly calendar of activities Bingo, Cards, Pool, travel to Casino, Breakfast Club off property, KC New Theatre trips, weekly bus service in town shopping, etc The medical staff and maintenance dept are fabulous. The tenants can just put a sticky note on wall where they want pictures hung and maintenance will do it! Dang, that’s fabulous!!! You will not see that kind of care anywhere! 24/7 RN is reachable by just flipping old fashion table land line phones( YES they kept those old things) receiver off or they can call them and they will be there in seconds to do a well check. My mother has a RN come and give her meds to her AM and PM, plus another nurse during the week help with her baths So many services You will never be disappointed you lived one moved here

My father made the decision last year to move to John Knox Village East. It has been a tremendously different experience than his previous 55+ community in that the residents here are very social and frequently interact with him and attempt to include him in activities. Hard to feel alone here. I've also been very impressed with the responsiveness of the maintenance staff and the services they provided from general maintenance to unusual services such as picture hanging. All of the staff at JKVE have been friendly, helpful and quick to respond. There are planned activities and trips. The campus is beautiful. Services such as medication reminders/administration are available. The kitchens are a little on the small side although dining services are also available. A very friendly place to live.

My relative is in the apartments and LOVES it there. She has made many new friends and enjoys activities, get togethers and having transportation available. The food is good. It is a safe environment with good maintenance provided. Check it out!

We moved my mother into a studio apartment at John Knox Village East in December 2025, where she stayed until early May 2026 before transitioning into assisted living. During her time there, the staff provided a supportive and caring environment that helped make her feel comfortable and safe. JKVE offered many valuable amenities, including medication management, housekeeping, maintenance support, and meal services such as breakfast and dinner delivery when needed. There was also an onsite cafeteria available for lunch and social interaction. Residents also had access to free onsite washers and dryers, which was very convenient. Another thing we appreciated was the variety of activities available for residents, helping encourage both social interaction and engagement within the community. One feature our family especially appreciated was the landline phone system in each apartment that supports an on-call process when a resident feels ill or needs assistance. Knowing my mother could quickly reach someone for help provided additional peace of mind for our family. Overall, we appreciated the care, responsiveness, and services provided during this stage of my mother’s transition.

I absolutely adore this nursing home. My grandma is always taken care of and they’re always so nice and sweet to my grandma. They’re always doing activities and trying to keep it fun for them. They care so deeply for their patients and I absolutely love that. It’s reassuring, knowing that your loved one is gonna be taken care of.

I recently just did a tour of John Knox Village East & Meyer Care Center. It was refreshing to see all the positive renovations in the Community. The leadership team was kind, and welcoming. There were residents throughout the Community smiling and several of them came up to me to let me know how much they love living there. If you are looking for a Senior Living Community the provides excellent service - I would highly Recommend JKVE -MCC.

Following an unexpected surgery and weeks in the hospital - my mother has continued her recovery in the rehab unit, with plans to transition to the assisted living unit when she's able. I cannot say enough good things about the care she has received, and the kindness of the staff. The hospital said my mother needed to go immediately long term care - but Erin made the trip to the hospital to perform her own assessment. Thankfully, she disagreed and determined that assisted living would be a more appropriate setting. The excellent therapy and care Mom has received has had a huge impact on her recovery, and proven that she is indeed suited for assisted living rather than skilled nursing at this point in her life. When I come to visit her every evening after work, my mother tells me about the great care and kindness she's received from the staff throughout the day. She's healthy, happy and safe - and I couldn't be more relieved. That provides me with such a sense of comfort as I'm at work during the day and unable to care for her myself. I was going to try to move her into my home and hire an agency to stay with her during my working hours. I found that the costs were going to be comparable to those at Meyer assisted living - but that would provide help for the weekday work hours only vs 24 hour care at Meyer. When I considered that Mom would be missing out on not only the physical therapy available at Meyer, but also the socialization she gets with other residents - we decided on Meyer and are glad we did.

Meyer's Outpatient Therapy group are magicians. I can't thank them enough for their services. I know I would never done as well trying to get back to normal anywhere else. Ciara, Tammy and Jo are top notch, I don't know the other girls as well, but they are all knowledgeable, caring and incredibly patient, especially with the elderly clients.

My mother and I have had a very good experience working with the folks at JKVE from the moment she began to consider transitioning from homeowner to independent living at a residential facility. It's a process, of course, and the staff have been extremely accommodating and kind. The residents that she has met have been very friendly and helpful as well. She has had a very positive attitude about this facility from the very beginning and is enjoying her apartment location immensely. She is also looking forward to enjoying all the amenities that JKVE has to offer.

My wife and I have visited John Knox several times, from invitation and to visit friends. There are many activities that are available to the residents. The living spaces are nice and our friends are happy living there. When we are ready to have a more carefree life style, John Knox Village will be our choice.

Employees were very friendly and helpful. Kurt was very informative regarding all my questions and followed up at a later date. The place was very well kept and very clean.

I got a tour of several rooms I inquired about as well as the information i needed on pricing for different scenarios. This was done in a professional manner and communication prior to and afterwards was clear and concise.

I liked this facility and think I could be quite comfortable and happy there. However it's a little farther than what I like to be able to see my grandkids from where they still live.

We have lived in JKVE for 17 years and counting. We are royally entertained in house and bus trips, and dinner out once a month, usually with a bus full, we enjoy the trip, the meal and visiting. with friends.

The staff and people at John Knox Villege East have been very helpful in answering our questions in helping us decide to lease an apartment there. Kurt Lorenz in particular has been more than accommodating in helping us make a decision to live there. The residents there which we met were kind and outgoing, and indicate that it is a fine place to live. Thanks to all. Orlyn & Diane Heimsoth

My Mom lived at John Knox Village East a little over 2 years. It was a wonderful place for her to live. Before we even moved her in, there was a lot of communication and everyone made her feel very welcomed! While she lived there the staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make her feel safe. They offer transportation to church, Walmart, the grocery store and fun activities that you can sign up for. They have many services available that provided peace of mind for me. Whatever your needs might be, the staff really want to help. When it was time for mom to move to the care center side they helped us move and made sure everything was taken care of. I can't think of a better place for your loved one!

I moved into the independent living November, 2019 with a variety of health problems. My family encouraged me to make the move. They recognized that I needed more support than I could receive at home. They agreed that John Knox would provide the support I needed and the investment was affordable. Since then my health has improved. When I gave up my car, they provided rides to many doctor's appointments. The nursing staff has supported my medical needs and they talk directly to my family when they call for information. I enjoy the housekeeping, maintenance, and and dining services. The activities are varied and fun. I can choose as many as I want to do. The staff are professional, pleasant and helpful. The residents are friendly. I have thrived, my health has improved, and I have made new friends. The atmosphere has a country feeling. I am grateful that I made this move.

Updated: We have now gotten a hold of the head of nursing and head of the facility. We have received several phone calls regarding our concerns. It looks as though things will be getting resolved. Because of their responses to my concerns I have increased my star rating and will continue to update my review as we go. Initial review: My Grandmother broke her foot and we didn't have the equipment to lift her so she could have her basic needs met. We were relieved when we were told that she qualified to have 14 days at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville, MO. They assured us that the nurses and equipment they had available would allow the to lift her so she could have basic needs met (bathroom, physical rehab, clean clothes, bathing, medicine given to her as ordered by doctor). We had some problems that we are waiting to be rectified.

When my mom moved in roughly two years ago, it was a big move. Located in Warrensburg for many years, her home was too big after my Dad passed on. Family spans from Arizona to NY so to leave her there "on her own" after we helped her settle was a big step. It was a change but a really pleasant environment. Everyone, from management to residents ,were friendly and helpful. Now after two years, this is where home is - and if feels like it. We enjoy our visits there and laughter is abundant! This I felt when she first moved in and know it to be a fact now. The main reason I am leaving a comment now is the care and consideration given when she had to go to the Hospital Thanksgiving eve. All of us are far away - but the assurance and assistance - (from Kurt Lorenz - bringing her street clothes, coat, iPad, keys, etc to her in the hospital 25 miles away, responding to my multiple texts and phone calls, to ensuring she had a ride home from the hospital the next day) is priceless. I am thrilled she loves living there, I am thrilled to be a part of John Knox, and most important, I know she is safe, happy, INDEPENDENT and content with her home. Thank you John Knox Village East and special thanks to Kurt - and all the others who make it such a nice place.

I have had the honor of knowing Norma Swartz, and visiting her with her sons and daughter. This is the best nursing home I've ever been in, and I've volunteered in many nursing homes in several states over the years. The facility is clean, bright, cheerful and classy, with no bad smells at all, and the staff do an incredible job of taking care of Norma. She has always been clean and as happy and well as her terminal disease allows her. The staff calls her son ALL the time with updates and notifications on her care and status. They all are always kind, interested and so caring. Norma cannot recover from her disease, so the staff and medical people are helping her to feel loved, and clean and warm, and keep her family notified at all times. I am so thankful and impressed with Meyer Care Center, and when it is my time to be in a nursing home, I pray I can be in one as nice as this one. THANK YOU Meyer Care Center, for taking such great care of Norma Swartz and her family.
