Reviews The Remington Club
December 2025
I have lived at the Rancho Bernardo Remington Club for 3 years now. It was good when I moved in and it has gotten better ever since. There has been remodeling, and upgraded landscaping, and continued excellent variety of activities. The present Executive Director and Food Services Director have made welcome improvements. The residents are friendly and my apartment is large and comfortable. The location is ideal with a big plaza right across the sreet.
March 2024
March 2024, I am updating my review. The Remington Club has a new Executive Director, Kevin Booth, and he is the best ED this community has had since my mother moved here since 2017. He is getting a LOT accomplished. He has GREAT weekly communication via email with the residents regarding all pertinent matters in the community. It is much easier to accept something "wrong" if you have the context and what actions are being done to remedy it, Kevin is providing this. Kevin seems to be putting together a strong director level team. Marshall who has been here for some time has continued to do a stellar job. David who is heading Maintenance is a great addition and he as well is getting things done. Unfortunately, there is still much to be done as Ownership/past ED's have left so much undone for so long. That is no fault of the current ED/team. Food is getting better, but still has a way to go. This is one of the hardest issues to get right as it is so subjective. Quality of meat still needs to improve, menu choices need more diversity. I am hopeful that this team will stick and continue to make the needed improvements. This community has great "bones" and my hope is that it will soon live up to 5 stars. I give the team 5 stars, but the community still has a way to go. Is there a way to give a half star? Certainly not 5 start living. We are extremely disappointed in The Remington Club. My mom has lived here for quite a few years. This used to be THE PLACE but sadly it has not been kept up and the apartments are in dire need of an up grade as is the entire community. They spray paint over kitchen and bathroom counters instead of replacing them when they are worn. They are in the process of redoing the dining room (its about time since there was duck tape over tears in the carpet). The last straw is that after redoing the dining room they will only serve dinner 3 nights a week. "If" a resident wants dinner the other 3 nights they have to go over to the other building- not a walkable distance for most seniors especially at night. On Sunday nights there will be NO dinner service, the brunch is supposed to sustain them the rest of the day. It's obviously a tatic to cut back on labor. Maybe they should cut investor profits of their REIT. Everyone moved in with the promise of three meals a day and at the VERY LEAST one would want dinner every night. One of the main purposes of these communities is the social aspect. The apartments are big that is about the only positive thing I can say. The kitchen and bathroom counters and sinks have been SPRAY PAINTED in matte paint instead of replacing them when they have worn out. At these prices it should have been renovated years ago. UPDATE: Things are going from bad to worse. Laundry doesn't get done house cleaning doesn't get done, repairs aren't done. When the ED says that he will talk to the residents he doesn't. This community is on its 3rd ED in a very short amount of time. I don't know how many chefs have come and gone. The dining experience is getting worse. In the bistro they don't have room for walkers and wisk them away but won't help get your food and drink to your table. If my mom falls and break her hip because they took her walker away then they should expect a law suit. They charge $18 for beef stroganoff (no sides included and the sides they did offer were all starches, no vegetables, really great for diabetics). I think this place is about ready to go bankrupt and they are trying to pinch every penny they can. It's so sad.

My husband and I brought my parents for a tour at The Remington Club this week. We met with Jeanne Selis and she took the time to really listen and understand our questions and concerns. The tour was not only impressive but so much fun. My parent were dreading this day but now are hopeful, and can't wait to be part of this community. Jeanne worked out a great deal because they can't get in until March but she was able to secure their apartment. We couldn't be happier. The residents are so friendly and took the time to introduce themselves to my parents while we were all having lunch in the dining room. I had no idea it would go so well. If you have questions or concerns about this beautiful retirement community, contact Jeanne Selis immediately. She is a wealth of knowledge.

My beloved aunt and uncle moved into The Remington Club several weeks ago and could not be happier, for the community meets all of their needs. Visiting them today with my parents, who I hope will consider moving in as well, my wife and I were truly moved by the community's sales director, Jeanne, who not only came in on her scheduled day off to give us an extensive tour, but also treated us to a lovely lunch in the newly remodeled dining hall. More impressive still was Jeanne's passion for assisting others, particularly those of advancing years, which was evident in the way she highlighted the grounds and positively interacted with guests along the way, all of whom were pleased to see her. Truly, the Remington Club offers excellent value for the money, and appears warm and welcoming at every turn. Finally, the grounds are beautifully maintained, making it a pleasure to behold, particularly the established trees and flower gardens, which are accented by flowing pools of water. Were my wife and I twenty years older, we would certainly consider living at the Remington Club ourselves.

The most amazing and caring people work here. Especially Julie Needham!!!! She's a firecracker and entertains all of her residents. She loves and cares for every single one of them.
October 2023
Having moved to the Remington Club recently, I found relocating an over whelming experience. I am very happy to say that the staff led by Terry Bostian was a highlight of my experience and I cannot say enough to thank her and the rest of the staff for their help and follow up she provided. Exceptional in every way.

5/17/2023 - As a resident of the Remington Club for 3 1/2 years, my interaction with the Transportation Department has been exceptional. Marshall and his staff have always been professional, courteous, timely and friendly. They go above and beyond to assist the residents while providing an extremely vital service.
June 2023
Marshall has been eager to assist, always there to make appointments. There have been a lot of staff changes at Remington, but Marshall has always been our rock and continues to be here for all of us. He happens to be a God send for the older community in which we live. At this point in my life I no longer drive and Marshall and his team is very important to me. I've worked with Marshall for 5 years and I depend on him a great deal. I appreciate that Marshall has hired very good drivers who are always eager to help us on our trips.
April 2023
It's amazing how nice and gracious the staff is on a day to day basis especially through the remodeling it is a fantastic place to live.
February 2023
My husband and I became residents of the Assisted Living Building at Remington Club on 8/2/22. We chose RC because of its proximity to our son and family who live in 4 S Ranch. I chose RC/AL because my husband has a progressive neurological diagnosis. I wanted more help for him and I wanted us to live together. Our apartment is large and wonderful. We are very happy here. The staff is friendly and helpful. The activities offered are fun and we enjoy participating. We have used the Activity Room for private family times. I wish the caregivers had more colleagues..they seem stretched at times. The building itself shows age and could use touch up refurbishing etc. Right now both washing machines are out and we expect new ones soon. I wish that had happened sooner. We know we made a good choice coming to RC/Al and hope to stay here for a long time, as long as the stars line up for us!
February 2023
Recently previewed several new apartments and sampled the food by the new chef. Very impressed with the new and updated team at Remington! They are in the middle of an extensive remodel and trying to improve the 5 star experience. Look forward to seeing the continued updates!
February 2023
I recently took the opportunity to visit Remington Club for a few days. I found the facility to be quiet, and very comfortable. my room was nicely decorated, and everything I needed was there. I was greeted cheerfully, by Alexus, and made to feel welcome and at home. I also took advantage of the lovely restaurant. Chef Mike is Devine. The food was delicious. Ana was the perfect hostess as well.

Review of the assisted living at Remington 2. My Mom was a resident there until recently and Im not sure what i would have done without Terri, Marshall, Raqauel, Kailyn and the nursing staff. Terri helped me so much with my Mom and deserves a special shout out . A big thank you to the Remington Assisted living staff.
December 2022
Our parents moved into the Remington Club in early January. We are very happy with the service we have received. From Terry in admin, Raquel and Remy in nursing and Nela in personal care, and the food services staff, they have all exhibited small acts of kindness and caring for our folks. More importantly our parents are very very happy there and feel so fortunate to live together in their private room.

The hardest part of making a move to an independent living facility is helping a loved one realize it is time. Once that decision is made, Jeanne Selis at The Remington Club makes everything else easy. We have been trying to convince our sister (-in-law) to move to an independent living facility for over 3 years. She was increasingly unable to do simple housekeeping, walk up and down the stairs to the condo she lived in for over 30 years, and was becoming isolated as friends were unwilling to help or visit her. Finally, things came to a head this year when a serious health issue reappeared that weakened her further, resulting in her needing even a greater amount of assistance. She lived 40 miles away from us so helping to do a simple thing like taking her to a doctor visit was a 5 – 6 hour commitment. We took her to The Remington Club in February for a tour, but she was still resistant to make a change. It is hard for one to admit they need help, but by mid-June she was ready. Anyone who has helped a loved one with a major life change knows the importance of striking while the iron is hot. In this case it meant securing movers, buying some replacement pieces of furniture, and helping our sister (-in-law) adjust to her new life all within a few weeks. Jeanne helped make all these details easy. She gave us referrals to several moving companies who are familiar with The Remington Club. We were able to schedule Help-U-Move on short notice. They packed and moved everything and the move for our sister (-in-law) was fast and flawless. We planned to pick up a few pieces of replacement furniture at Jerome’s prior to move in. Upon hearing this, Jeanne gave us a contact at Jerome’s who works with seniors and understands their needs. We were also able to get a discount on the furniture due to an arrangement The Remington Club has with Jerome’s. All the furniture was delivered and setup before move in. Jeanne also worked with us from our initial visit in February until a decision was made to move, keeping us apprised of apartments that were available that would meet our sister (-in-law’s) needs. Jeanne was able to get her a nice apartment on the ground floor, with a garden view, that was close to all the common areas. With all her belongings and new furniture in place, “It’s beautiful” was the first reaction of our sister (-in-law) as she walked into her Remington Club apartment for the first time. She is only 5 minutes away from us which makes it easier to give her the support she needs. The Remington Club provides weekly housekeeping, activities, transportation, and meal services. Our sister (-in-law) has made several new friends starting the very first week she was there. How does she feel now that she has been there for 2-1/2 months? We were leaving after a visit and out of the blue our sister (-in-law) said “I really like it here. I thought a place like this would have people in wheelchairs abandoned in the hallways. But everyone here is friendly and active. Even the people with rollators are walking around and doing things.” All the things Jeanne Selis promised The Remington Club would be.

I just had the most amazing meal at the Remington, very fresh and the staff was attentive and friendly. I've had several residents move here in recent months and they love it. The activities director always has so many fun things on the schedule and the staff is very friendly...its also close to restaurants and shops so its nice for them to take a stroll nearby. I would highly recommend them to any of your friends and family who are considering a senior living community!
September 2022
Jeanne Selis, we can't thank you enough for the time and consideration you spent with us while transitioning our mother to a senior community. It has been overwhelming to say the least. Your kindness, understanding and compassion have made the process much easier. We are eternally grateful for your insight and giving us ( as you say) a Harvard education in the difference between independent living and assisted living. We 100% know we made the right and best choice for our mother and her dog Coco. I highly recommend anyone call Jeanne Selis, the sales director at The Remington Club in Rancho Bernardo. You won't be disappointed.--

The Remington Club makes the next season of an older adult's life a wonderful vacation. From the many activities and excursions provided to the scrumptious chef prepared meals. The centralized location makes it easy for families to visit. This upscale community provides a vast range of care depending on your loved ones needs. Julie White will passionately guide you through the process to make the transition as smooth as possible. Her joyful spirit is contagious, and you will immediately feel at ease and excited to move in. I have worked with Julie for years and have watched her always put her future resident's needs first. She is extremely knowledgeable about her community as well as the other local communities and will help find the right fit. She is honest and genuinely cares, just like the rest of the staff at the Remington.

Very clean facility with amazing staff. The ambiance is very calming and relaxing.
February 2021
Ive lived at the Remington Club for 3 years. I am very happy. They have done a wonderful job since during the Covid shut in. I received my vaccinations and am pleased. The clinic was ran beautifully. The meal delivery has been very helpful. The Transportation department is very helpful too. Housekeeping does a great job.
February 2021
Everything worked out well. It took some patience on Jane Navas part because I was pretty picky on what I wanted in a retirement community apartment. I was coming from two years in an individual patio home at Wesley Palms Retirement Community in Pacific Beach with a view of the Ocean so I needed to be certain that an apartment would be large enough and appropriate for such a change. We finally agreed that 1st floor with a view of the Rose Garden would suffice. So Jane had to work hard to find what would satisfy me. Give her some extra credit because I am no slam dunk dude, but a retired 25-year mustang submarine lieutenant commander.
February 2021
Good food. Friendly efficient staff.
November 2020
Everyone at Remington club has been sincerely kind and generous with their time. I feel so lucky to be here. The nurses, aides, therapists, and office staff have gone out of their way to take care of my needs. Its hard to be away from home but the staff has made me comfortable and welcome.
November 2020
After surgery my 95 year old mother was at the Remington Rehab to regain her strength. Everyone from admission to physical therapy, medical staff and discharge, were exceptional. The office staff from the reception area at the main entrance to the floor were helpful and well informed. Thanks to all for your kindness and wonderful care to my mother.Gilda C.

I moved in the last day of August 2019 and am settled in comfortably. I feel I have been welcomed by residents and staff alike A wide variety of activities are available and .I have been able to participate in the exercise program and found it to be helpful . Questions have usually been answered promptly by the concierge or other staff as well as the residents. I feel part of the community.I have had some computer problems and Diana has come to offer assistance in a professional manner. I did know two people prior to moving here but have found it easy to make new friends and acquaintances. All in all, I am glad to be here and participate as I am able.Donovan Myers 314

My mom has been a resident in Assisted Living since December 2019. The transition from living in her home for 65 years was seemless. The staff support and level of care is outstanding and I highly recommend The Remington Club.
October 2020
From the first day here until my husband left, the experience was amazing! All staff treated my husband as the most important patient there was. Im glad he doesnt need this level of care anymore, but I will miss the caring staff who went above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined.
September 2020
Ive visited many skilled nursing facilities with being a caregiver. The Remington Club is by far the best. From the front desk to the nurses I would gladly recommend this facility above all. They go the extra mile to make sure the patient is taken care of and comfortable in their new well maintained environment. The facility is also kept very clean both outside and in.
September 2020
My father had an urgent move from Michigan to California. Jane Navas was able to graciously and professionally accommodate this move in less than one week. She was extremely helpful and caring. I would give her 10 stars if I could. I would gladly work with Jane at any time, and I highly recommend her to anyone who is considering a placement in Remington Club Assisted Living, thank you, Jane.
September 2020
My father and I worked with Jane from Remington Club to find an apartment that would meet all of my Fathers desired criteria. Jane found him an apartment that offered more than my Dad had hoped for. Thank you Jane for all your help and for checking in with my Dad to make sure his move-in went smooth and if he had any questions.
September 2020
My mom was brought to the Remington Club after a week stay in the hospital. We were nervous because she had an awful experience at a previous rehabilitation place 2 years ago. However, her visit at The Remington Club has been absolutely amazing. All staff from Admin, to clerical, maintenance crew and Nursing were all above par. Everyone was very attentive, kind and helpful. When my mom had a bad day due to her being sick Dante, her nurse and the CNA never left her side. Mom calls them her Angles. In addition to the staff, the food was excellent and the facility was very clean. Mom was only here 5 days even though it was originally a week. I hope we dont have to bring her back again but if we did, The Remington Club would be the place. Thank you to ALL of the staff there for taking care of my mother as well as you did ❤
July 2020
I had a 5 star experience ✨The medical staff, nurses and PT team were top notch and assisted me in every way possible on my journey to recovery. Every day my room was cleaned and bed, pillows fluffed. The chefs did their best to accommodate my culinary needs as my taste buds were way off☹ I highly recommend The Remington Club when the need arises for excellent care in a beautiful and supportive environment ✨
July 2020
have been at REMINGTON for two and a half weeks rehabbing from a fractured hip. I have enjoyed a supportive and welcoming staff. THE physical and occupational therapists are terrific. They are warm, Dedicated and extremely competent. They tailor therapy to your personal fitness level and discharge needs for independent living. THE food was excellent with good variety and off-menu options. Social Service Director was extremely dedicated and effective in resolving insurance and other administrative complications. THE nursing staff was caring, responsive and very patient. All of these impressions support a five star rating..
June 2020
Mom came here for a brief stay and enjoyed the food, the staff and the rehab physical therapists. She quickly regained strength and returned home.
May 2020
I feel very lucky to live at The Remington Club because they are taking such good care of us. They have our best interest at heart and the staff is really doing a terrific job.
April 2020
I came here for recovery from double knee replacement surgery. Never been in a skilled nursing facility as a patient. I arrived after hours. The person at the front desk welcome to me new my name knew where I was going to go and that started the beginning of a wonderful time at the Remington. Got into my room and the first thing they asked has had I had dinner yet. The answer was no their kitchen was closed but they had already saved a dinner for me.There are many departments and the employees of each are fantastic. Doctors, nurses, nurses assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, housekeeping, administration. Every person in every department was kind, patient, enthusiastic but understanding. The food is great. I had to consciously stop eating all the food they serve me.The care and actual rehabilitation is fantastic. If you have the option of the Remington, take it.

Ive been a frequent visitor to Remington Club for several years. Ive had friends and family members stay here. Currently my Great Aunt, retired US Airforce, is staying at the skilled nursing facility and soon moving to the assisted living facility. In the past two weeks Ive been here several times per week.Everyone here is helpful. Your visit starts with a lovely lady beaming with a delightful mood settling smile. Her name is Nancy Bragg and I will be coming to say hello to her after my aunt is moved to the assisted living facility next door.As you walk past Nancys station you notice how clean and comfortable everything is. There are many people working here and theyre all very helpful and attentive. The bedside care here is extraordinary, the food is great and they can easily customize the care to anyones needs. Thanks Nancy, Nathan, Sophany and Iris for a great experience.
February 2020
10 Stars for the 5 Star Remington!!! Starting at the front desk, Michelle & Nancy are friendly, full of valuable information, and always there with a smile & helping hand. Jaylan was our admissions hero and got everything in place for us at record speed. The nursing staff were all so helpful & attentive, and Dr. Singh is very approachable and treats patients and family members very well. I would highly recommend Remington Care to anyone.
February 2020
I had a spinal fusion at Scripts Hospital in Encinitas.I was a little wobbly at discharge time so they suggested rehab for a week or two. I was a little apprehensive about it after hearing horror stories of some places. I took 7 days of rehab and arrived in a wheelchair and left under my own power. This place was nothing like that. Choose your mals in advance from a wide variety of food and its very good food as well. The staff is great all positive, not a bad apple in the bunch. The therapy sessions are great and they take great care in the right exercises for each individual. Im glad I took this week after my hospital stay. The therapy staff taught me some great tricks for recovery. Im more than happy to give them 5 stars.
January 2020
Their dining hall is horrible.. no healthy dinner meals.. no option for those with diabetes.. food is high in sodium.Dining staff is very insensitive to the residents. They hire young kids who can care less about their job and the impact they make on elders...horrible staff and cooks are very rude
January 2020
I am a caregiver for a 92 year old and he has been in many of the local rehabilitation facilities and 2 years ago was his first time at The Remington Club and this facility is by far the best. In terms of care, cleanliness and staff they are outstanding. Their rehab staff is caring and very knowledgeable and get the patient back up and moving and doing things quickly and safely so they can get back to living a normal life again back in their home where they are in their normal surroundings. If you want the best care for your family member that needs this type of care you wont find a better place.John N.

I recently attended the 30th Anniversary event at the Remington Club Healthcare Center as a vendor (photographer). The event was well organized and prepared, with lots of people attending. Everyone from residents, to visitors, to the staff were all smiling and having a good time. And how could you not have a good time, there was lots of food, music, entertainment, games, and even recognition awards from the facility director to the residents. Staff was kept busy answering questions, meeting and greeting folks and just making themselves available to anyone who had a question or needed anything. Even the wait staff were always checking on me to see if there was anything I needed...and they were very busy moving about as quickly as humanly possible ensuring everyone was taken care of. My hat is off to all involved in putting this extravaganza together.I also had the opportunity to visit with the administrative staff and received brief tour of the facility by the lovely and friendly Admissions Coordinator, Pamela Cooper or just Cooper as I am told. I also took the time to speak with some of the residents at the event and there was not a single unhappy face or negative comment from them. From what I can gather this is a top notch facility and years down the road, should the need arise, this is where I would be happy to hang my hat and call home as many others have done. It is a warm and friendly facility with an amazing staff who genuinely care about you.
September 2019
I feel the staff is very nice. The restaurant staff is very patient. The landscaping is beautiful. The apartments have a good layout . The food especially the soup is very good. I feel it would be helpful to have several of the doors that lead to the eating room be automatic. It is very difficult for someone with a walker to open the heavy doors. There should be more engaging classes that could get people to talk and interact. The management doesnt seem real responsive to requests like higher quality meats that can be chewed easier.
