My brother was a residence of Rideau. He was initially hesitant to move from his previous residence but loved living at Rideau and never once regretted the move. The staff were friendly, caring and made sure my brother was well cared for when needed. This contributed greatly to his enjoyment with living at Rideau and to my peace of mind. The other residents were very welcoming and this also helped with the transition. My brother was also a big fan of the meals! He loved the choice of food as well as the dining room atmosphere.

I know my mother is getting good care delivered with kindness and consideration. As Rideau is a non-profit I am confident that what they offer is from the heart not with an eye on profit making. Many staff have been there a long time- this indicates that they are happy and happy staff do a good job. When I call Rideau appreciate how friendly and kind they are to me too! Some senior residences have lots of fancy finishing - but thats not what makes a place feel like a home! When I need care, if I am lucky enough to live that long.. Rideau will be the place for me! And I tell all my friends that too!

The staff are amazing! I am not a resident, my mother is though and can’t imagine her living anywhere else. Today, I fell outside and because I am disabled, was struggling to get up. Eric came right away and was very obviously skilled in handling a crisis. Thank God for him, he was patient and really helped me get up on my feet again. Although embarrassing, he made me feel like it was ok and he would be sure I would get back on my feet right away. I am so thankful he was near me.

My sister moved in about 3 years ago and we cant say enough about how friendly the staff are, the condition of the room and the quality of the food. Oh and the fellow neighbours are great too!

My wife and I moved my father into Rideau on a respite basis as he needed to come to the lower mainland for an eye operation. He did not want to move but we assured him it was only until he recovered. He was 86 and living on his own in Penticton. Within a week dad said he really loved Rideau, the people, the staff, the food and the activities. The Rideau staff were very accommodating and gave us a furnished room at a very reasonable rate. After he recovered from the eye operation dad asked if he could stay. This was an overwhelming yes as we know how well he is cared for at Rideau. We are on a first name basis with most of the staff and they all know dad by name. Dad who was very independent loved the location and everything nearby. Over the last 2 years his health has declined a little, but the staff is very supportive. The events at Rideau including carnivals, field trips, concerts, and a garden are amazing and family is always welcome. Rideau has taken a significant amount of worry away from our family as we know how much the staff cares for the residents. We highly recommend Rideau .

We participated in their open house here and it was an amazing experience. Staff and everyone are super friendly and make you feel so welcome. Met a lot of the seniors here and they shared how much they like living here.

I live at Rideau Retirement Residence as a relatively able independent resident. I am 82 years old. Opportunities for active senior living are right here at my doorstep I love the fact that my meals are prepared. Conversation and social interaction are easy with entertainment, stimulating activities, caring staff making day to day life varied and welcoming. Large windows in the sitting and dining areas and the charming bistro garden add to a bright pleasant atmosphere. Private suites are well maintained and have appealing views overlooking the neighbourhood. Brentwood Town Centre brings us life and vitality with its many nearby banks, stores, coffee shops, restaurants, public transit. Rideau Residence is a non-profit senior home which emphasizes well being and affordability. It is definitely an asset to the community and an enjoyable place to live. Sharon Ogden

I am concerned for your residents., and prospective residents, and visitors, by the lack of attention and upkeep to the forefront and side garden areas. Weeds and debris, graffiti on parking wall, are very apparent this year.

My father has been there for over 3 months. The environment is so nice and the people are super warm and friendly. The Wellness Director who pretty much manages everything, is amazing and makes it a point to ensure my dad's needs are met.

My mom, who has stage 4 cancer, moved to Burnaby and into Rideau about 4 months ago. We have found the staff and management to be very warm and kind, accommodating and knowledgeable. The building is safe and secured and in an ideal location. We feel confident that she is in one of (if not the) best retirement/assisted living residence in Burnaby.

My 88-year old mother has been living at the Rideau for a couple of months now. She and our family are very satisfied overall with this excellent retirement residence. From the very beginning we were made to feel welcome by Mary Kay who showed us around the first time. Mom started off with a 30-day respite to try out living in an independent living situation. That turned into a decision to move to the Rideau permanently after a couple of weeks there. An attractive aspect to the Rideau is that assisted living services are available if and when they are required. For an extra fee we soon contracted for medication management services which have been a welcome twice-a-day service for Mom. Thanks to Jaena and her Wellness staff for providing this and other care to the residents. Mom loves the food at the Rideau too and kudos to Executive Chef Chris for presenting excellent food choices to the residents at every meal. My girlfriend and I have dined with Mom on occasion and we both feel that Mom is eating better than we are these days! The 24-hour concierge service has been a blessing too when Mom needed some assistance around midnight one day. We appreciate the patience and kindness with which the concierges deal with the residents and their needs - Maria, Bonnie, Nicole and the other concierge staff are to be commended for the work they do. All in all GM Teena and her team, including Retirement Counsellor Christina, are running a warm and welcoming family-oriented retirement residence that we are very happy to say is now our mother's new home.

The staff at the Rideau are amazing. My mother was treated with the utmost care, attention and support from the time she arrived in need after a recent stroke to the time she left. The facility has all the comforts a senior needs and is close to restaurnts and stores for all to enjoy. We want to thank Mary Kay in particular for her empathy, understanding and kindness when we needed it most. Best regards.

My mother has lived here for 6 mos now. She, my husband, and I, can’t get over how friendly and helpful all the staff are(from GM to concierge to housekeeping), and how well run the place is. Rideau is clean and organized, offer lots of activities and events, and the meals are varying, healthy, and delicious. All the staff seem to know my mother by name and happily greet her whenever they see her, which warms my heart. I’d recommend Rideau Mani to any senior.
