Reviews The Bridge at Columbia
May 2026
I stopped by The Bridge at Columbia to ask about the facility for a friend whose family member needed placement quickly. I met with the Executive Director, Shannon Clifton, who was very kind and caring and helped me in every way. He showed such compassion for the elderly and was emotionally moved by my friend's situation. While I was there, I took a look around. A singer was performing in the dining area and the residents seemed happy and content. The place was clean, smelled good, and was well decorated and well kept. My dad died in a Life Care Center years ago, and that's when I first learned about Life Care Centers ” The Bridge is part of that same organization. Putting him there changed his life compared to other places he'd been. I pray to God that this place is around when it's my time. God bless you guys for taking care of those who can't take care of themselves.

I enjoy spending time with my friend and the new friends I have made at the Bridge. My one recommendation is that someone be available for activities (drive the bus) on weekends. Several residents have expressed an interest in the dinner shows held at my daughter’s theater but no one is available to take them. She has offered a special rate for groups and would also give the driver a free meal and theater ticket.

We are so thankful for The Bridge. My Mom enjoys living here so much and we love so many things about it. Honestly when we are talking to other friends and family about their loved ones experience at other assisted living facilities, it makes us even more appreciative for what The Bridge does for its residents and especially for my Mom. The quality of care and family like atmosphere along with the staff's ability to show personal connection and care to each person is so great. They treat my Mom with respect and do not talk down to her. They treat her as their own family member. And when I say staff I mean everyone from the executive director, who leads by great example with kindness and care,on to nursing, maintenance, dining, the office staff, housekeeping and everyone else I am not thinking of at the moment. I want to give a very special shout out to Christy the activities director as well as the kind ladies at the front desk who have been so personally helpful to my Mom and answer any questions that she or I have. Christy is amazing and I just love her spirit and how she makes every day fun for my mom and all the residence. When she is not there and away on well-deserved days off, my mom misses her and always so happy when she returns. So thankful that Christy cares so deeply about keeping the residence active and moving. She is really quite extraordinary! I should also mention how beautiful, comfy and sparkling the facility is without feeling stuffy or overly formal. We really do love the Bridge and thank God every day that my Mom has this great place to live.

When my mother asked if she could move to Columbia, too, I began researching all the assisted living facilities in this area. Then I drove up and spent a day visiting each, looking and listening for all those intangibles that don't show up in print or pictures--but which can make daily life barely bearable, or actually encourage a life of continued personal growth and meaningful relationships. I found The Bridge at Columbia to be clearly the healthiest and most stable in its facilities, culture, and environment. Now, after two and a half years, my trust in the administrative staff and my appreciation for the support staff have only increased. Many of these people have become MY friends, people I look forward to seeing and talking with. I could not recommend more highly the people at The Bridge and their approach to assisted living. They benefit from, but are not locked into, following a corporate program. They are always (starting with comments and suggestions by residents in their regular feedback meetings) re-evaluating what they offer and how well it meets their current residents' needs. But you should also realize that ultimately, no matter how well thought out the resources and opportunities are, the quality of your loved one's inner life and remaining years will be largely self-determined. Their first day at The Bridge, leaving their apt to go to their first meal in the dining hall, will feel like their first day of junior high school. For most it's a challenge, after several decades, to once again look in the mirror and walk out your door to go meet and be met by strangers. But unlike the kids back in junior high, these strangers are matured by life experiences and generally more motivated to welcome and make new friends. As in any community, what your loved one brings (in personality, values, encouragement, etc.) is needed. THEY are, once again, needed. And within this community, there remains the potential to discover and cultivate relationships that become special.

It’s evident that they take pride in providing a comfortable and safe environment for their residents. What truly stood out to me was the wonderful community of residents. They are friendly and engaging, creating a vibrant social atmosphere that makes it easy for everyone to connect and feel included. It’s heartwarming to see the friendships that thrive in this supportive environment. I highly recommend Bridge at Columbia for anyone seeking a nurturing and vibrant assisted living community. It’s a place where residents can truly feel at home!

I would recommend the bridge to anyone. Putting my mother in assisted living was a very hard thing to do for both of us , but after her being the for 3 years she loves it and so do I. She is very well taken care of . She is happy with the activities they provide and her needs are always met.

My godmother lives here. Prior to her move she lived at another assisted living facility. She was extremely unhappy there. We did a ton of research and finally decided upon The Bridge of Columbia. She loves living there. She has made several friends and is very involved in all the activities they have available. Thank you so much for providing such a warm loving atmosphere to your residents.
