I came in with a resident. I noticed that the residents were comfortable introducing me and that staff were comfortable moving about as they provided care. It was a good weather day and residents were sitting under the Canopy out front and was attended by staff or checked on periodically. Everyone seemed well adjusted and safe.

Chevy Chase House has been an unexpected but intensely needed gift for our family. After my mom’s death and my dad’s relocation from Florida to DC this summer, we were all gutted emotionally and just spiraling downwards. The staff and residents at Chevy Chase House caught us in our descent, embraced us literally and figuratively, facilitated selection of the BEST local ALF, and have been absolutely nurturing and supportive in the most unexpected ways during my dad’s recent move in. It’s only been 1.5 weeks, but we feel rescued. Thank you, thank you so sincerely!

I can best describe leaving a home, condo, or apartment to move to an independent/assisted-living facility like Chevy Chase House (CCH) as crossing the Rubicon River. One breaks boundaries -- leaving a certain part of the past behind and heading into a mysterious and unknown future. I crossed the Rubicon six years ago when I came to CCH. I can only say that I am very happy and consider myself very fortunate to be here. I was ill when I arrived at CCH, but with the help of management and staff -- and the good company of my fellow Residents -- I am in great health now and able to live independently. Our excellent Executive Director (ED) leads a great management and staff team. The ED's office door is almost always open and he is readily accessible to Residents who either need advice or have concerns. The ED is caring and generous with his time. He sets an excellent example for all of us (management, staff, and Residents) through his kindness and concern for everyone here. In that spirit, all of us here at CCH share a great sense of community. We all try to help each other succeed and flourish. As to the various aspects of life here, the Staff (Dining Room, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Nursing, Transportation, and Front Desk) is first-rate. Many staff members have become good friends with Residents, and they enrich our days with their good will, kindness, and concern for us. Personally, while I enjoy being independent, it is very reassuring to know that when I return from an outing, I am very secure and comfortable in the CCH community. As to the food, the Executive Chef (EC) offers a very fine and varied cuisine. The EC also places a strong emphasis on serving very healthy meals and takes an active interest in individual Resident's dietary needs and concerns. The EC also makes it a priority to find out what Residents' favorite meals are so that those meals are included on the daily menus. Between the Dining Room menus and the Dining Room staff, Residents look forward to being in the Dining Room not only for the food, but also for the opportunity to "bond" in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere! The Housekeeping and Maintenance Staffs promptly assist us on an individual basis upon request. The Front Desk staff is always courteous and helpful to Residents, and also to visitors who come to CCH. They represent the CCH community extremely well. The medical and nursing staff expertly guide Residents in managing health care needs -- e.g., lab work, doctors' visits, and medication delivery. Transportation to doctors' appointments etc. is available upon request. The limousine/van driver takes great care of Residents and is very kind and helpful. In sum, one day I may have to cross the River Styx. So be it. I know, however, that I will never have to cross another Rubicon. And for that I am extremely grateful!

The staff pulled through for me in a major way when my back was against the wall earlier this month and I needed to find a place for my father at a moment’s notice. They helped us get through a hectic few days with their grace and patience. Hello! I just have to stop and drop a few well welcomes and thank you. For caring for our people in need of support. As I walked up I noticed how clean the outside and inside of the seniors living property was. Well maintenance inside of the residents units. No funny smell. The staff greeted me as I walked up. I was assisted with all question and concern fars where to go. I also work for an agency. However, I would recommend living here. Great living and care received by the employees and higer staff's. ’

My mother has been a resident here for nearly two years, and she has adjusted beautifully. The whole staff has treated us so kindly, and it feels more like a family than an institution. Yesterday when my mother requested that I take her out somewhere, she said, but you’re going to bring me back here, right?What more proof can I provide”this from a woman who adamantly loved her home, and wanted to remain in it forever. I'm still rfecovering from my horrific experience where I was targeted due to being able to see what was happening. For those of you on thre fence,,,talk ti your parents Neurologists abou[name removed]. These affect the amhyloiidplaques that are building up in Alzheimer(updates)s. you may preserve more time with mom and Dad and give them their voice back....so they cannot be used for mone and you lose your retyirement. Peasse take care of your family first, never rest easy knowing a resident could be wheeling mom or dad down the street*witnessed) and lunches and dinners would be far easier for all. Thats [name removed] and [name removed] respectively and their options to fight alzheimers. very cruel disease and leaves people open to be taken advantage of. God sees all, and keeps notes should be enough for the average grifter to stop using others God does not like to see that,.and its full on there. Excellent data on reduction of amyloid plaques with these medsKharma will land those who are not honest as needing their services sooner than later.

OR REMEMBER SIGNING/. /I HAVE HAD SO MANY CONVERSATIONS EWITH RESIDENTS WHO WERE UPSET THEY COUL not get home and I would advise they talk to [name removed] and the next day they don't rememberr our conversation. Really sad when you think about itI have watched clients ask [name removed] about where they live and he presents the truthin a wayt that made me want to set up a Neuro clinic in the lobby and give people their memoriess back. Having your facultiess is not wanted there.me are on the angry side of alzheimers(quick flashback when told hey should no be in charge of their neighbor. We all tried to re-direc tto no avail, I kept thinking "if her daughter was aware the resident does not remember she uses a wheeelchair or where the brakes are and they mus5 be used for transfers, God knows Itried tro protect the patients it's a thanklesss place where there is no structure or leadershipYour parent is on their own!!. they wanted residents to orient new residents!! how sad is thatMany of us wished Morgan was still thereManymeaning more than 5people. My sister spent the last four years at Chevy Chase House. The care, love and compassion she received was extraordinary! The entire staff (Executive, Professional, Administrative and Support) are remarkably caring and supportive human beings. I cannot speak more highly of the facility and the care that was afforded my sister, and the support given to our family!

My Aunt had a respite stay in January 2023 then came back to CCH in June 2023 for a possible extended stay. We chose CCH because of their mindful attention to detail. They really love the residents and that care comes through in every interaction... from the nurses, caregivers, marketing executives, to the management. Our family will always be grateful to CCH for the care they gave our Aunt during her stay.

Mr. Sargent was most welcoming. He did a wonderful job of explaning the advantages of living at the Chevy Chase House while giving me an excellent tour of the facility. He even took the time to introduce me to several of the residents who appeared to be happy and welcoming. I was also pleased that Mr. Sargent took the time to explain the fees for the various levels of care and provided me with written material regarding these and other matters. I left feeling verty positive about the Chevy Chase House as a posible residence for my sister.

Such a great place. We toured all the competitive properties. Chevy Chase House has large 1-bedroom units with kitchens while most of the competition was largely tiny studios like a nursing home. The staff is incredible and the food is top notch. So thankful for all the hard work they did to keep us safe during this pandemic.

My mother has been at CCH since 2018. There's a lot to like about the residence. Why we picked it-- 1. the location; 2. the rooms; 3. related services; 4. diversity of staff and residents. Located on Connecticut Avenue, it's fairly easy to get around DC. Even better, some great amenities are just nearby-- a public library, a grocery, a CVS, and (for grandkids) a major DC toy store. My mother's room is among the largest I have seen in DC senior residences. The Physical therapy in house is very good. Finally, if you or the possible resident care about diversity-- then CCH offers that in abundance. The background of residents is quite compelling. I am fond of many of the staff-- particularly in the dining room. The nursing has had some turn over, but I think the head nurse, Kim, is going to stick with CCH and she's very good. The food was perhaps better in the first year of being on the Meridian corporate plan, but, I think they will need to revamp this continually. More chicken thighs! The rest of the chicken cooks too dry! The parking situation could be managed better. (I don't even have a car, but the fact that I am bringing this up points to a major detraction that others mention.) FOR EXAMPLE-- CCH could help the residents apply for DC visitor parking passes for visiting health aides, etc. They have brought in more events staff in the past year. I think there could be more variety of offerings. In particular, more experts to talk with residents. But, it's pretty good there. My mother's quality of life is better there than alone in my sister's house. So, we're pretty happy.
