After many months of debating and researching different memory cares, we moved mom into Brookdale Briargate. Mom is later stage dementia and had been living with my husband and I for about a year. Her dementia has progressed more rapidly than we anticipated. She went from being confused, but able to take care of her own basic needs, to needing almost 24 hour care. She could not even remember where her bed was, when standing in her own room. Our hope was to see her pass away peacefully at home, but we were at a point where we could not take care of her the way she needed to be cared for. We were all unhappy, but more, mom was unhappy. Brookdale was so very helpful from the very beginning. They explained their care philosophy, and were so very patient with my many questions. After a few days at Brookdale, I could see a difference in mom. She is smiling, laughing. She interacts with the caregivers and the other people that live in the facility. She loves her apartment, and she smiles and talks up a storm when I visit. She isn't always able to form complete sentences, but she says things like "so kind" and "like it so much." She thinks Brookdale is a tiny town, with it's own garden. She is still confused, but the confusion is okay, as long as she is happy. The care giving team at Brookdale go out of their way to know everyone that lives there. They are very kind and have a heart for people with this terrible disease. I could not be happier.

It is interesting to read about the common experiences that we share with folks who must place a loved one in a care facility. My mother-in-law has had dementia for the past few years, and after the recent passing of my father-in-law, she is now in our care. We gave a great deal of thought about the kind of care we wanted Mom to have and toured several different memory care providers. We finally arrived at Brookdale Briargate and realized that we'd found the perfect place. The facility had a welcoming feel from the front door. We were given a tour, and several staff members presented the specifics of the services they provide. Besides meeting all Mom's basic needs, there is a focus on engagement that is designed to keep the residents active and involved. The calendar is full of activities that are wide and varied. The apartments are cute and just the right size. Everything looks well maintained. Every single person that we met (staff and resident alike) were happy and friendly. My wife and I haven't seen Mom this happy in a long time. She was very excited, and so are we. We look forward to working with the staff to do the very best for Mom.

My parents and their dog moved in last month for memory care. They moved from independent care so it is a huge adjustment. The staff is so helpful allowing them to adjust to assisted care living. Everyone is very caring and supportive.

Very good and conducive environment for our senior citizens. The staff are so welcoming to even other care givers who are assigned to the facility. There's so much mutual respect and cordiality and that transcends into giving our seniors the best care and support they need. It's a home away from home. I have had the pleasure of working with a senior citizen in a hospital who had suffered several falls and upon her discharge she was transferred to Brookdale. Just within a week or two,the signs were there,she had improved gradually to the amazement of everyone especially the family. I will recommend Brookdale Briagate anytime.

When you have a family member that needs care away from home it is hard, when I found Brookdale Briargate I was so relieved that my husband would be safe and secure as well as nurtured by those who work there. I feel like they are great at creating a community among the residents as well as making those of us who come to visit feel part of what happens there. They are quick to answer questions and always willing to communicate about what is happening with my husband. I like when I am greeted in the facility by my name and they know me as part of the community.

Placing a loved one in a care facility is by far the hardest choice I had to make. My heart just couldn't fathom what my head was telling me to do. How could any facility care for and love my mother like I do, along with having acres of necessary patience that was needed to care for her. I strongly believed that any loved one could only be cared for effectively by a family member who is personally and emotionally invested, and the hardest concept to accept was that a facility could do that job just as well (or better) than I. Well, I write this sincerely that I believe God sent me to this facility to show me that he personally collected many talented and loving caretakers and placed them all together at a wonderful place called Brookdale at Briargate to care for my dear mother. And it is honestly the first time that I have been able to relax in the past 10 years when it comes to the care of Mom. She is loved, she has caretakers all around that understand her dementia and show her the patience that even I lacked at times. And during this difficult time in her life, she is happy. And that puts my soul and heart at ease. Brookdale is filled with wonderful stories, and I am proud to be just one of those.

My sister had early onset Alzheimer’s and was living in a facility in another state where her health seemed to be declining at an alarming rate. My family and I knew we needed to find a place where she would thrive, and where we could be involved in her care. Over several days I toured numerous facilities, yet none of them seemed right for Celeste. I was very discouraged until the day that I came upon Brookdale Briargate. After meeting with Jo first, then with Lorelei and Michelle and meeting Stephanie, I knew that this was the place for my sister. I felt a huge sense of relief and peace that this wholesome environment would be my sister’s new home. Not only did they work efficiently to make her transfer from out of state pleasant and run smoothly, but they also made my sister truly feel like she had just come ‘home’. They treated her with unconditional love, dignity and compassion, as though she were a treasured family member. Our whole family was touched by their kindness. Because of their loving care, my sisters last months of her life of physical and mental suffering were enveloped n the beauty of caring compassion, love, peace and even joy. marked with a beauty that made what would be a time of suffering into a time touched with the beauty of tender loving care and a compassion. I can't say enough good about everyone that we came into contact with at Brookdale Briargate, from the caregivers, to the nurses, to the admin team, dining room workers, and maintenance staff, our family was treated like 'their family'. I have honestly never before come across a such a wonderful team.

I cant say enough on how thankful I am for each and every one of the staff members at Brookdale Briargate.I moved my uncle out to Colorado Springs from another state to be close to me. He had broken his hip the first week in January and was on a long road to recovery.Finding a safe and caring place was very stressful. From the very first phone call, meetings and every visit, I was always treated like family. The director, management and nursing staff are extremely involved which made communication so simple.My uncle was a great guy but he was stubborn and could be difficult to please. He told me that being here and at Brookdale Briargate was the happiest he had been in a long time. That was a huge compliment!The management, nurse and all of the staff were SO patient with him, listened to him, cared for him and always had a positive attitude.My uncle passed away on June 15th due to a long history and complications with COPD. He will be greatly missed but I find such peace thathe ended his time on earth in a place he enjoyed and called home.

I am so thankful we found Brookdale Briargate. They have been such a blessing for my father and our family. The staff is so kind and caring. Transitioning my father to an assisted living home was a very difficult. The staff went above and beyond to help my father transition and I see much growth in my father since he joined the Brookdale Briargate family 2 years ago.

The care and warmth I experienced at Brookdale Briargate been amazing- they took the time to find out what matter most to the residents and made a personal connection - not only that they made the best cookies from their residents recipe !
