I cannot say enough about the kindness and compassion of the caregivers and entire staff at Cogir Alexandria Fillmore. When my mother needed to find a community with nursing support to transition to hospice care quickly, this team moved mountains in less than 24 hours to get my mother moved into the community and settled comfortably. Everyone from all the directors, Christine, Joann, and Kelley and the amazing nursing care team moved quickly, confidently, and most importantly with great care for my mother and our family. The facility is wonderfully appointed and offers great amenities. All the residents we encountered were happy to be there. I wish my mother had been a Cogir resident earlier.

I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of the new luxury Independent Living suites at Cogir of Alexandria - Fillmore. This community is absolutely stunning, and the longevity of the team speaks volumes about the culture and care here. The suites are impressively spacious”up to 1,250 square feet”and come fully equipped with modern amenities, including full kitchens, full-size washers and dryers, and generous closet and storage space. A special shoutout to Chef Marcus, whose culinary creativity and flair for mixology take dining to the next level. I consistently hear glowing feedback from residents about both the food and the overall experience.

Elance is an archaic verb that means "to throw or to launch" This facility has the knack of throwing its residents into chaos. Every couple years this facility is sold or under new management. The new flavor of the month is COGIR whose CEO, David Eskenazy, says that senior living operators still have a "chance to regain margins in excess of 40%." This statement reeks of the mentality that seizing profits on the back of the elderly is the best game in town. Such margins have gutted staff, reduced services, and limited activities at this facility and others. Each new management and ownership company creates a facade of improvements, while the infrastructure of the building remains poorly maintained. In unit HVAC are old and function intermittently. Repairs and renovations have created an onslaught of mice and roaches. The tired and decrepit looking elevators in the building mimic the general mood of the facility. The last management company RUI left the facility with several days notice to the residents after only a three year stint- enough time to pull profits, take losses and leaving the residents worse off than when they arrived.

My mother lived here for more than 10 years and experienced all levels of living situations and care. This is a hard audience to please (the elderly AND their families) and the team always went above and beyond. She and I made several dear friends, created a lot of good memories, and I consider many of the staff like family. Nothing anywhere is ever perfect but I never doubted that my mom was well cared-for, respected, and treated with dignity.

Zeeshan is like family to my mother and I. There is no one better to work with and have help guide you and your family through the hard and emotional process of having to place a loved one outside of the familial home for their own health and safety. Zeeshan is respon-sive, kind and caring and will stop at nothing to make sure he finds a place within budget that is the perfect fit for your loved one. He is familiar with every facility in DC metro area, seriously, and can explain the pros and cons of each place during your search. Even once your loved one is placed Zeeshan continues to check in to see how they are doing and ensure that the placement is the right fit. He knows all of his clients by name, has a stellar reputation at all of the homes as evidenced by the owner/managers/resident reactions to him as he walked into the places we visited and is the nicest person to work with. He truly cares and goes above and beyond this is more than just a job for him but a true calling.

I visited this community last week My first impression was impressive to say the least. I watched a staff member who was clearly not on the clock help a resident who was having a hard time parking, get safely into her designated spot. The love, patience and kindness was evident. I met many others on my tour who clearly were wonderful caregivers as well. That made me feel really good! I showed up with very little notice, and yet the executive director, Ray, took the time to take me on an extensive tour. While many of the apartments were move in ready and look great, it was truly exciting to learn about the renovation vision as well! A rooftop bar with the most spectacular viewsI’ll just leave it there. What a great place!

I had just spent 30 minutes writing an extend review , which I accidentally erased, using a IPhone for first time . I’ m going to make this much shorter by starting out with if the Elanc’ were one of may communities I had to choose from it would my First & Last one to call home , not just a place to live & grow old , but home to interact with new friends & enjoy my retirement. One of the most impressive things about the community is that it’s obvious from the minute you walk through the door that the staff is happy, warm & caring / concerned, why because they smile & greet you as if they would there own family member, which is what it feels like when you are at Elanc , FAMILY . I’m going to finish by indicating that I have visited numerous communities in the DMV & realize that the highest rating is 5 Star , but if any community deserves & could justify a 5 Star + it would Elanc. It’s not fair to single out one person as exceptional, caring , warm & genuine ( as everyone here treats you like family ) , but I have to give a special shout out to Erica in the Marketing Department due to her commitment to excellence & dedication to superior customer service. Reward yourself or love one with a chance to experience elegance & home / charm at Elanc .

This is a beautiful bright luxurious community with a very convenient location and lovely views of Arlington and DC from the top levels. Everyone we encountered during our visit was welcoming and friendly. The entire team of staff members are dedicated and passionate about the care they offer each and every resident in meeting their individual needs and ensuring their safety, health, fitness and happiness. Excellent service. Caring and friendly staff. My father is in the dementia/Alzheimer's unit. Our family takes great comfort knowing that he's in a safe and trusted environment, getting the care and attention that he needs.

So far, so good with The Fountains. Inova Fairfax placed our disabled brother there to rehabilitate after falling. He spent about a month in the rehab, and everyone there that I talked to seemed caring and professional. We live a three hour plane ride away, and with the covid situation, everything had to be done by phone. Even though the long distance thing has been challenging, our phone calls and emails were always promptly answered. The staff allowed us to sit in on virtual health assessments, and answered our concerns. They understood the complications that being unable to see the place or our brother in person, and went above and beyond to keep us updated. We have not visited the facility (or our brother!) yet. A week ago we moved him to the assisted living floor at the same facility. The day of the move, Charlea Robinson went out of her way to put us at ease, and even sent photographs of our brother's new little apartment there, which was quite thoughtful of her, and greatly appreciated! Charlea has been extremely understanding and helpful. No one that I have spoken to or dealt with at the Fountains has been rude or too busy to answer my many concerns. Joanne Garcia, Margarita, Angie, James, and Sue are a few of the folks there that have been kind and professional. I will update my review in a few weeks, after we see how our brother does in the assisted living part of the Fountains. So far, I recommend the rehab and nursing facility and staff. They have made what is always a difficult time for any family much easier for us all.

My friend was there for a whole month. The staff kept me up to date on her care and status. Charlea Williams was such a breath of fresh air. Her frequent calls conveyed to me what avenues to take for my friend"s care there and after her rehab. I would recommend this place to everyone, including myself.

My uncle was here for three weeks which was marked by a solid decline from the rehab facility that he was transferred from. This place seemed very overwhelmed. And was very underwhelming with its staff, and support. This is going on during Covid so we couldn’t go in, but my uncle reported that he didn’t feel safe or comfortable with the nighttime staff. We had heard some negative things about the fountains, but it was close to home and had thought it would be a good enough experience until he got better. They honestly seemed much more concerned with keeping the bed filled then him getting better. Would never recommend anyone go here

Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
