I am extremely happy with the support my aunt received while living at Astor Place. Her changing needs were met with care and skill, and her mental well-being was enhanced by the friendliness and cheerful attitude of the staff. Attention to detail was a hallmark of her care -- whether making sure her sandwiches were made to her liking, or treating her with grace and respect during her time there while on hospice. A lot of attention is paid to residents, as staff engages them in activities and spends time with them, just being present with them. The building is lovely and clean, inside and outside -- and deer stop by occasionally to visit!

My mother in law was at Astor Place for over 6 years. During that time there were a number of Caregivers who came and left. My mother in law was ninety eight years old when she died. The one constant in here care there was the staff and Kari Barber. Kari was always attentive to my mother in law’s needs. When Kari was on duty, she made certain my mother in law was dressed to the tee. My mother in law’s clothes matched and her jewelry and earrings matched as well. Kari walked to and from meals with my mother in law and escorted her to any event. Kari shows love and compassion for all residents and treats them as if they were her relatives. I am so grateful my mother had Kari and the other caregivers in her life.

I had my doubts about placing my Father into assisted care after his short term memory significantly declined, but Astor Place has been an absolute Godsend. They worked hard to train staff and place my Mom with him there too. They absolutely make it feel as close to home as possible. My favorite part of my day is escaping the office and hanging out with the residents. From chats, art, to taking them out fishing, most especially our rowdy mornings playing NYT spelling bee. These people have my heart. They are so warm and inviting to everyone who walks in the door. I love seeing their excitement when someone moves in and how they get submersed into the group. My experience with my family living at Astor place has been so wonderful. I can trust that when I am not with him that he has the best care. There is no other place that I would have him live. The most professional, kind, loving and respectful staff members are Rachel and Kari. They have become additions to our family. I always know everything will be fine when they are caring for him. I can never repay the way they have been there for us. During the night time hours Deej and Jennifer are checking on him all night long to keep him safe and comfortable. Tammy steps in whenever she is able to help him when he needs a little extra. Every one on the care team is so wonderful that I could mention every name with their specific ethics.
