I was there yesterday, and I'm planning on becoming a resident really soon. The only thing that I wasn't presthe the smell of whatever they had in the hallways and the waiting rooms is overwhelming. My eyes were burning and I was coughing, I think they need to consider some other kind of deodorant. My parents are still new residents here at Astoria but so far everything and everyone has been great! My parents are happy, especially with the food, as the kitchen is very accommodating to their dietary preferences and they say it tastes great. All the workers are very kind and patient with the residents. And the rooms are quite comfortable and feel like home than some sort of institution.

Everyone is very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. But the air freshener used is too overwhelming and strong. I would hate to smell it all day and everyday, which is what most residents have to do. Please change it out.

My aunt has been living there for about 3 months now and she’s very happy with her new living arrangement as am I. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the majority of them speak Spanish which is great for my aunt who speaks very little English. The place is always very clean and smells great! I’m so glad that we found Astoria Park Senior Living for my aunt! I highly recommend this place!!

My father stayed here for about a month and man do they just not care about anybody here. Let me be real here, nighttime staff is 2-3 people for a facility of 50 plus beds. My father had his Memory issues and sometimes acted out just like any Dementia patient, he stayed at a SNF prior to living here for 3 months and I had 0 complaints from them. When I did a tour here prior to moving my father in I was introduced to Michelle, my girlfriend and I were shown a nice room with a MASSIVE closet mirror, right there I knew that was a red flag because my father would talk to himself in the mirror. My girlfriend and I both told Michelle how it would be a bad idea because of the mirrors in his room, she said to not worry and that they will change them out by the time my father moves in. Long story short they did not change it out, my father freaks out talking to himself, and I get pressed by Ann-Marie the Head Nurse because I supposedly "did not tell anybody about the mirror issue". Gotcha, so Michelle forgot to communicate that. A couple times I got a call from Astoria informing me that he was acting out a bit and that maybe changing up his medication would be a good option, I agreed on it as well as the "at facility" Psychologist. But to tell me that you are going to change his medication up and 3 WEEKS LATER at a Hospital I find out that the medication was put in the system but was never actually administer to him.. How could you just do that to somebody? Also, my father ended up being re-evaluated at a hospital (for 2 weeks) and stayed at a SNF for a month and a half, this facility still had the audacity to charge me his months rent? Have to pay his rent somewhere even though he's currently at a Skilled Nursing Facility? Crazy. "its in the written agreement" At the end of the day, everybody's experience is different.

Medical staff in dining area seemed to be a little standoffish though which was surprising, I was expecting to say a simple "hello" to anyone passing by my Great Aunt's table but I felt they could have been a little more friendly. If you're considering Astoria for your loved one, here's the quick scoop! Don't just go by the high ratings and first impressions - do your own research and due diligence before committing to placement. I gave this place a 3-star rating because, honestly, it's not perfect but it's not the worst either. Starting with the positive, most of the staff are super friendly and doing their best. (If it wasn't for the staff, I probably would've given this place a 2 star rating) However, it's obvious that they are extremely understaffed and overburdened. There is a high turnover rate among care staff and management, it seems like they are constantly training new staff. Within just eight months of my mom's residency, both the Regional Executive Director and the Medical Director left, and there have not been any replacements yet. They also still do not have a transport shuttle driver, a service that is crucial for residents with mobility challenges to get to their appointments. The cleaning crew does very basic maintenance like emptying out the trash, so I have to do a deep cleaning of the room once a month. If your loved one requires incontinence care, be prepared for them to wait upwards of 30 minutes to an hour for assistance. Overall, Astoria provides an adequate level of care, but it's clear that there are a lot of issues with management. They seem to pride themselves on being the best of the best, but in reality, they are just providing the bare minimum. Hope this helps anyone navigating this tough decision.

All of the staff at Astoria were loving and caring to my aunt as she became ill and transitioned. From the food, to the community, to the loving care from the team it was such a great experience for our whole family during such difficult times. I was very pleased upon arriving to visit with my loved one there.The staff were all pleasant. The facilities were very clean. All of my family were welcomed in the room at the same time. That meant so much for us all to be able to visit with my loved one at the same time! I love you all for the way that everything is set up there! I even met some of the residents there! Centrally located in downtown Pasadena, CA, I highly recommend this classy style, non-elitist vibe caring place for end stage, memory care.and more. Thanks for the mango ice cream you shared with us as guests just as a pick me up as some of us are struggling. Your check-in and out procedure, inpeccable. Well done! In fact, when we were choosing an assisted living facility, The choice was made because I chatted with residents while there, and all of them gave it thumbs up. This Independent Senior Community offers so much more than a regular Senior Community in Pasadena. They provide 3 delicious meals daily with no extra cost and all utilities included. Many daily activities and social events for those who enjoy this type of things. All the other apartments we looked at for Aunt Nelly did not offer a mix of Independent living with meals and housekeeping. This was the perfect blend. The staff is beyond caring and takes a genuine interest to make sure Aunt Nelly is happy and getting the care she needs while still living independently. It felt like she got herself a 2nd family. What my aunt love the most are the weekly fun and interactive activities, especially the Tai Chi and musical entertainment. I would strongly recommend this place.

My mom and I researched assisted living facilities and determined Regency Park Astoria was the best fit for her. My mom is 98 and needs assistance with some things. The staff here is extremely attentive and caring to her needs. She gets three meals a day with high quality food and good choices. My mom likes the fact she can go to the dining room and meet other residents. The activities offer something for everyone. My mom is particularly likes the afternoon snacks, sing a longs and a movie sometimes. All in all I think we made the perfect choice for her.

My dad has been living at the facility for just over 1 year, and I am so happy he enjoys living there. He loves that he does not have to worry about meals, meds or laundry. The staff is wonderful and very accommodating. My dad and I are both happy he is there.

I have had through the years , several of my clients placed in this senior living location. The place is clean, nurses and caregivers have always had good communication with me & have been very efficient throughout the years. I really like the fact that I have dealt with the same staff for many years, meaning that they have very little turnover & I believe this is key for the residents. I also really like the front desk staff , they work well as a team with getting messages across to the nursing station and to the residents. I believe in my opinion it is one of the most affordable well kept assisted living locations in Pasadena . Thank you , Marisela, Celia, Martin , Dana, Brionna. For taking good care of my client.

The entire staff is very competent and does an incredible job taking care of my parents, and the property is nice and clean with well appointed rooms. I appreciate everything that Regency Park Astoria did for my grandmother when she was there. The staff was incredible in their care. The building is welcoming and their activities were top notch. Both my Mom and Dad are living at Regency Park Astoria. They are receiving excellent care. All the staff in the Memory Care unit work hard to see that they are comfortable. The medical team is working closely with Hospice. I highly recommend Regency Park Astoria and I am so grateful my parents are so well taken care of.

I am a friend of a resident who has lived there since 2012 and Regency Park Astoria is where, Everybody knows your name!’ The staff is friendly and caring. My friend has had some medical events and the entire staff was supportive and responsive to his health needs. The facilities are clean, updated and tastefully decorated. The variety of activities and outings are fun and entertaining, and the special events always warmly welcome friends and family. This is a good place for my friend, and I appreciate that he is in a safe, loving facility.
