I am not a resident of Atria Tamalpais Creek but rather an entertainer in a ukelele group that plays there once a month. Helen Bond, the activity director, has such energetic and fun loving energy and always tries to engage the residents in dancing and singing with us. We love entertaining there because the residents always seem to take part in the music, both singing and moving. I’m sure when the time comes I would be happy to be a resident of Atria. It’s such a lovely place and Helen does a great job as activity director,

I am not a stranger to Assisted Living Facilities; almost all of my career/volunteer paths have provided the opportunity to walk halls, visit rooms and talk with residents and team members. Atria Tamalpais Creek is a gem. What might one notice? The smiles. Each team member at Atria offers a sincere smile, which acts as the doorway to positive experiences at events, dining, professional encounters or just a passing of two people in the hallway. This is the key to the feeling of inclusion felt by the residents. My experiences at Atria Tamalpais Creek have mostly involved the activities orchestrated by Helen Bond. She creates thoughtful opportunities for residents to engage with both each other and with the community. Opportunity is the right word. We can all relate to days when we are low on energy, and prefer to turn inwards. Helen offers residents the encouragement to connect and put forth the energy. The results are stellar, as participants appear to truly find the joy in creating, learning, listening to music and watching others do so. All are included. This is a hallmark - it’s easy to offer a schedule of events (or simply set up a room, get a bus). Helen’s dedication to coaching team members in ways to encourage resident engagement is the key. All are respected. The variety of activities is significant, allowing different energy levels for residents, including moments of reflection (days past and current moments). Helen is an open-minded listener and responder. It’s no wonder that the staff and residents of Atria Tamalpais smile.

I want to give a big shoutout to Cory Mundy, the Maintenance Director at Atria Tamalpais Creek. Cory is one of those rare individuals who genuinely cares about the well-being of the residents and the community as a whole. His dedication shows in everything he does ” from quickly addressing maintenance issues to making sure the environment stays safe, functional, and comfortable for everyone. He’s not just responsive and dependable ” he brings a level of professionalism and compassion that makes a real difference. It’s clear that Cory is always thinking about what’s best for residents, families, staff, and the Atria community as a whole. He goes above and beyond every day, and it does not go unnoticed. If you’re considering Atria Tamalpais Creek for a loved one, know that the community is in great hands with leaders like Cory on the team.

Atria Tamalpaias Creek is a gem among assisted living communities in terms of its people, its setting, and its authentic caring for its members. My father joined Atria 3 months ago after touring other communities in the area and chose Tamalpaias Creek due to the warm welcome he received from residents and staff combined with his repeated observations that the community seemed happy, social and vibrant. As a social person he was seeking friendly and kind people with a busy activity calendar and was relieved to find what he sought. The series of performances, outings, and in-house social events have offered a changing menu of enjoyable choices to stay busy and engaged. Highlights for my father have included: feeling that every staff member knows him and offers help and warm greetings whenever they see him, consistently excellent food (he can be very particular so this was huge!), regular and easy access to a driver for shopping and banking, many nice residents to get to know and to meet for meals together, and truly well-run operations that reliably take care of so many important details of daily life while constantly looking out for the residents’ needs and well-being. As my father’s primary caretaker (with much appreciated help from my sister) I have been impressed with this community from the beginning with not only all of the aspects noticeable to my dad, but also all of the wonderful, responsive, caring, professional, and helpful interactions I have had with every staff member. The directors of Atria Tamalpaias Creek should feel proud of the truly exceptional community and operations that they have developed and continue to actively cultivate every day. Our family has felt fortunate and blessed to have found this gem in Novato.

Overall, this place is excellent! The Managers are so talented at what they do: Recreational Activities, Care and Medical, Finance, Reception, Transportation, Sales/Community Outreach...and the "floor staff" seem at ease, well-matched to their position, and friendly. I am writing as the family member most involved with the care of my Mother, and as a former long-time employee of places very similar to Atria Tam Creek. My Mother has been there about 3 months. It was not always an easy adjustment for my Mother and I, but we have been met MORE than halfway by all the people working there, up to, and including, the superb Executive Director. The food is the best I have tasted in "institutional" fare--more like a good restaurant...day after day! (I know because I visit 2 x week, joining or at least tasting meals.) The Dining Staff are ALWAYS kind; the Chef and whomever is behind the scenes in that kitchen are, again, talented! Furthermore, I know firsthand that Atria Tam Creek's food is better than places costing considerably more. Here's to good times for my Mom. Thank you Atria!

Looking for an assisted living facility for my Mom was the scariest task I have ever done. Atria Tamalpais Creek was the first facility visited and after that, every other facility toured had a hard act to follow. I chose Atria for many reasons and at 92, my Mom is finally living a lifestyle she deserves at this stage of her life, knowing she is completely cared for, safe and comfortably content. I’m so relieved to speak this truth. The bright, cheery public rooms, and the carpeted, nicely decorated halls, the amazing food (still dreaming about the Hawaiian luau spread!!), the seemingly always happy caregivers (they anticipate what Mom needs before she even asks), the spot on Administration team of Corrine (her leadership shows everywhere), Jocelyn (she makes sure the care is top notch and is so very excellent at her job) Katie (she recorded a video of the facility for my Mom to see and answered all questions with compassion and understanding) and Jessica (so helpful understanding costs etc) are 4 of the best humans I’ve ever met. And then there is Helen, the tireless activity director who is so intent on keeping all the residents entertained and involved!! They are all perfect in their roles and really care about each resident AND their families, too. Literally, they relieved my anxiety and made my Mom fall in love with them. If you are tasked with this scary transition, please call for a tour. I’m so thankful I did!!

During my time at Atria, I had the pleasure of participating in a variety of engaging outings and activities. The experience was enriched by the vibrant music sessions, which provided a wonderful backdrop for socializing and relaxation. The caregivers were exceptional, always attentive and supportive, ensuring that every activity was enjoyable and fulfilling. The fine dining options were another highlight, with delicious meals that added a touch of sophistication to our daily routine. Overall, the combination of stimulating activities, excellent care, and gourmet food made my time at Atria both enriching and memorable.

My mom has been at Atria since Dec 1st, 2023. It has been a huge life transition for her but Atria has been there for her every step of the way. We picked Atria Tamalpais Creek because of the friendly staff and the beauty of the surrounding redwood trees. The facility is neat and clean and close to downtown Novato. This location has received a number of awards and from the beginning, I felt confident that my mom would be well taken care of. She has met quite a few new friends and enjoys the exercise classes, music programs and planned activities at Atria. She feels loved and heard and often speaks highly of the entire staff, from Katie, Atria's Sales Manager to Jessica, Community Care Manager. They treat her like she is their mom. She loves the chef and the staff are so attentive and caring. I visit 3-4 times a week and I feel that the level of care and customer service is always consistent. We are very happy to be at Atria!

Great property and staff! I moved my 90+ year old father from out of state into Atria's assisted living property. He's been there about 8 months and we're very happy with our choice. I did a lot of research and tours, and Atria was my favorite (and not the most expensive on our list). It was a big transition for us and I could see the staff working hard to make him feel comfortable and respond to the many questions we had as he moved in and got settled. The property is well kept and I've built a nice rapport with the staff. My Dad regularly tells me how much he enjoys his new place, so that speaks volumes.

I moved my 91 year old father to Atria in February. It was a very complicated and difficult time for me with a tremendous amount on my plate. Atria made everything easy from the beginning. Even when I had questions or needed help during the move and especially during the time he was adjusting to a new way of life and environment, they were prompt and attentive to his needs, and mine. He has been extremely content in his new home and it has made my life SO much easier. I know he is being well taken care of. Now we just visit and enjoy time with him without any stress. And when any questions or issues come up, I know I can just reach out for help. My dad says: "I find everyone to be responsive, attentive, and thorough. I have no complaints!"

Atria is a beautiful community with an excellent team of staff and happy residents! Each time I visit, the community is clean and every resident is clearly enjoying themselves, taking in the beautiful scenery outside (today a particularly happy resident remarked to me that they 'felt like they were in Italy!) or partaking in their amazing enrichment activities that seem to be constant. Jocelyn is amazing at making sure all Atria residents receive amazing care, and Dale and the resident care team ensure that everyone is all on the same page providing excellent care to all the residents. We were looking at this facility for my Mom. We got the hard sell from the marketing department, then poor responsiveness, and then we were declined an opportunity to join the facility at the last minute. It was a frustrating experience to work with them. It’s my understanding that they only want to except new members that are very low maintenance, and cannot provide proper care for someone who really needs it.

Atria was perfect for my mom and my family. The location to me, and the beautiful gardens are so nice. Mom lived there 5 years. First three were in a nice one bedroom upstairs with a balcony. That was our saving grace through Covid. She would come outside onto her balcony and we would sit outside and chat with her as often as we could. Once she was found getting lost and confused more often, we moved her to the Life Guidance. After a short time, she found her new routine and had her special chair and spot to sit at the dining table. She had all she needed and having a smaller area of living for her made it so much easier. The staff was great with mom. All the receptionists up front were so friendly, in spite of all the varying Covid regulations they were required to enact. The med techs, the facility crew, the CNA's, and the director of LG at the time, Jessica, seemed to care for mom like she was their own mom. That was so reassuring to me as I would be gone for severals weeks at a time out of state or country. I knew she would be safe and cared for. They went above and beyond to keep in touch with me about her care and needs.

My father was a resident of Atria for 7 years. The last 2 were in Life Guidance memory care. The staff and administration, have a very low turnover. They keep my dad comfortable and gave him dignity. Atria is a beautiful setting with tall redwoods and gardens. Atria has all the amenities you would expect from a 1st class facility and is well maintained. There is a good about of stress and anxiety seeing your loved one with physical and mental decline. The Atria Community gave me the confidence and guidance I needed. My closing thought is to say thank you with appreciation for all they did on my father's behalf.

I can't say enough about how incredible Atria Tamalpais Creek is. From the moment we met the Director, health care professionals and extend staff we knew that our loved one was in the best hands possible. We brought our loved one to this wonderful place shortly before the pandemic lockdown last March. The thought that we had just made this major transition, and now would not be able to visit our loved one would have been unbearable, yet the staff at Atria Tamalpias had a plan that consistently kept us updated on everything they were doing to keep all the residents engaged and safe, and kept family members aware of every new possibility of socially distanced visits with our loved ones. All calls of concerned were returned and addressed quickly. Corrine, Jocelyn, Wendy and the entire staff are angles from heaven, treating my most treasured family member as one of there own. During the many video, window and patio visits I have had with my loved one, I have come to learn from her directly about the sensitive, patient and loving care she has and continues to receive. I can not express enough the deep gratitude and appreciation I have for this truly resident and family focused environment. It is a very special place with very special people. Thank you to everyone at Atria Tamalpias Creek.

My parents were at Atria Tamalpais Creek for nearly five years until their passings last year. They were well cared for throughout. Their ability to come and go, coupled with the in-house dining room and Bistro, served them very well. Regular musical guests and activities also made the place special for them. As they needed more care, Atria staff helped me line up resources and stayed in touch with me, which was especially important since I was out of state. This facility is clean and bright, nestled under Redwoods... it was perfect for my parents!

The facility is very nice and the staff is friendly. However, they are not prepared or trained to give adequate care to dementia patients. My mother has been a resident in the "life guidance" unit or what is more commonly called memory care. She is a dementia patient. Atria claims to be prepared to provide care for dementia and Alzheimer patients. However, a hallmark of the disease is combativeness, including refusing to receive medical care or take showers. A quick search of dementia will show this is common behavior. When we placed her in Atria and were asked for over $7k per month they said they understand the disease and were trained to provide care. At best, only some staff seem able to handle clients that are challenging. Several residents in the same unit as my mother were asked to move out or were relocated by family. We relocated our mother too because staff, on two occasions, had the fire dept. come take her to the hospital when she yelled at them refusing to get out of bed or when she was asked to take a shower. We have learned from local medical staff that they frequently send clients to the hospital when they are challenging. Finally, staff turn over has been tremendous. In particular, the manager of the life guidance unit has changed three times in 1.5 years with several months without a manager at all.

My mother has been at Atria Tamalpais for three years and I have been impressed withh the caring attention she has received. I live on the east coast so communication with various staff is important and I have been grateful for the assistance I have received from many of the staff. Special kudos to Marilee Ribbel for her continuous responsiveness and patience when I call. My family refers to Dale Trinidad as our "rock" who has so many times been kind, gentle and attentive to Mom when it is most difficult. I am always grateful to CJ Corey for her assistance on business matters, among others, and her patience and attention. I know there has been a good deal of staff turnover during the last 18 months so knowing that these folks have been there has been very reassuring to my family. When I visit I note that all the staff are friendly, address my mother by name and in a caring way and that means a great deal. Finally, Atria is such a pleasant physical facility and the grounds, upkeep and general environment are pleasant, cheery and also tranquil. We are grateful that Mom is in such a good place.

We have been here for almost six years. In that time we have had eight Culinary Directors. Now we have #9, Crystal Welsh, and she is so superior to any of the previous directors that we could not be happier. She is giving us more vegetables, more choices, tastier recipes; basically more interesting menus. Long may Crystal strive ! We also have Marc Johnson as our Engage Life Director. He has brought in two superlative assistants! Ashley Kimball is a vibrant young violinist who leads our Choral Group as well as our Drama Club. Valdete Lane is a psychologist who is sharing her wisdom with the older generation at the same time learning a lot from us. All in all, the entire staff is now most commendable. In 2011 I joined Atria Tamalpais Creek in Novato, California, as a resident after doing some research in the area. I also lived for a few weeks in Deer Park, a place with a nice view but little else in its favor. Atria was pleasant then but has improved dramatically in the past two years, particularly in the activities and culinary departments. Marc Johnson, Engage Life Director, has shown some skills in the selection of activities and in hiring of assistants. Most notable of his assistants is Miss Sonoma County, Ashley Kimball. Among other things Ashley directs our chorus and has started our Drama Club. To get an idea of what happens in our drama club, go to Google or Youtube and type in "Pyramus and Thisbe. Atria". In the culinary department Crystal Welsh, head chef, has improved the quality of the food and allows the residents to order the dishes they like. Also in the food department, Lori Gutierrez and Amy Summerhays deserve credit for being helpful, energetic and multi-task.

At first Atria at Tamalpais Creek seemed to be a great place for my Dad. Nice people working there, good food, beautiful surroundings, relaxed and not crowded. The sales person who we were talking to about my dad moving in sounded interested in his wellbeing both socially and physically. Immediately after he moved in, she evaded questions about the facility, I.E. basic questions about his medication management, services provided, special dietary needs and how they could be met, general questions about the facility, and treated my family rudely. After a few months my Dad’s needs increased, and we began paying for higher levels of care. It quickly became painfully obvious that Atria was incapable of assessing his increasing needs and reacting to those changes. It routinely takes over 10 minutes for them to respond when he pushes the call button to request assistance. In case of an actual emergency, that could be the difference between life and death. Unfortunately, because of their incompetence at Atria, we are moving my Dad after only 6 months to another facility nearby that charges less and provides a higher level of care. As an assisted living facility that provides 3 squares and a cot, Atria at Tamalpais Creek is fine. If you are hoping for more, go elsewhere.

  • Schedule a tour and visit the physical location to make sure community description is accurate.
  • Confirm with community manager that living and services required for you or your loved one's unique needs and budget are met.
  • Check with state government websites for additional provider licensing and information.

If there is any information that is inaccurate or needs to be updated, please contact Assisted Living Center.

Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
