We loved Emerson for our mom Paula. She was here for almost 2 yrs before she passed from LBD. She was living alone having all the horrible symptoms LBD causes. She was scared and frankly was a danger to herself. Everyone was so loving and attentive to her. The review that says they visited a good friend often was about our mom. Let me tell you they did NOT visit often. And if they were listening to our mom remember she has severe dementia. Not sure what they expected for a memory care facility but they are way off base. Maybe they needed to check themselves in. If we had to do it over we’d place mom at Emerson again! Megan has done an excellent job as director here. Her staff works so hard to help the residents and their families through a very difficult time. The staff who always went above and beyond with mom know who they are. We love you all! Compassion like they give is hard to find these days. The residents are here for a reason and most of us are not qualified to take care of someone with dementia or to judge those that are. Allow Emerson to help. You wont regret it

The staff at Emerson House is the very best. They are very well trained and professional. You cannot fake how the staff takes care of the patients, treating them as they would their own family members. A lot of patience, encouragement and love shown. My wife passed away on 2-16-2023 and two of her favorite care givers traveled 6 hours to attend her funeral on their own time. During Sharons last few hours many of her care givers came in on their time off to show Sharon their love and respect. My family wishes to thank the staff for their kindness and service.

I really don’t know where to begin. My mother was recently diagnosed with dementia. I had been looking for somewhere that would provide her with good quality care and allow her to be as independent as possible. I was blessed to come in contact with Tina. The facility executive director. She went above and beyond to help me with the entire process with my mother. Her entire staff is amazing. Including her office manager Traci. I actually live out of state and they even send me pictures of my mom engaging in activities. They create a plan to fit the individuals lifestyle. Which is pretty amazing! I’m also very impressed with the cleanliness and modern look of this facility. Emerson has provided me with such a relief. Knowing my mother is receiving the highest quality of care. Especially as this is one of the most difficult things a grown child will ever experience with their aging parent. My heart is relieved knowing my moms in the very best place she could be in. Thank you Tina & entire staff at Emerson.

Immediately when you walk in you notice how clean and nice it is, and this continues when you walk into the living quarters area and recreation/dining areas. The staff is friendly and seem to be genuinely concerned for the health and safety of the residents.

My elderly family member was in this facility for 2 years, ending in October, 2021. No one ever formed a meaningful relationship with my family member during this 2 year period, except maybe the activities director, Barbara, who is excellent. They added a $750 monthly co-charge during COVID but did very little to support visitation (I straddled a bush outside a window some times, then they took this option away, then had to sit outside a glass door and use a dinosaur intercom system that was impossible for a person with dementia to operate, so basically no communication, just waving.) Even when a family member traveled from out of state for one last visit with the resident, she was subjected to the dinosaur intercom system and waving only. They did not attend to the social and mental health needs of residents, residents often live for meaningful social contacts. Residents were put in their rooms alone, with no exercise, very poor care. Outside of COVID, the care was better but don't expect anything "extra" - they will not walk your family member around, they will not keep your family member hydrated if it takes any extra effort, they will not get your family member to any appointments (they will say "we don't have the staff" to help your family member walk around for 10 minutes a day). They lost my family member's glasses multiple times and were unconcerned about it, even though it was an important sense for him to lose when he was already disoriented. There are some good caregivers here, some wonderful people, but the management is lacking. It is hard to find good facilities, so even with this negative review, I still give it a 3; sadly, there are not a lot of options. Pluses are it has a great activity program (not during COVID), a nice outside area although they rarely use it, some good caregivers, the facility is well designed, small number of residents which is better for moderate stimulation. The food was good prior to COVID but really went downhill, hopefully it has come back up. Bob, the facility maintenance man, is very kind and helpful. If you can visit often and meet some of the needs the facility won't meet, your family member may have reasonable care. You will have to advocate for their care and you will need to supplement their care. If they are allowing visits at any time like they did in the past, this is a great benefit, because you have the opportunity to visit often and drop in unexpectedly. Previous positive reviews refer to Eric, who is long gone as the director, so be aware he is not the current director. A major reason I chose this facility in September 2019 was because it had a good staff to resident ratio so be sure to check that this ratio is still strong. The facility seemed short staffed later, in 2021, they did not appear to use any of that extra monthly surcharge to pay staff more or hire more staff.

When I was researching memory care facilities for my mother-in-law with Alzheimer’s. I was referred to Emerson house by a friend. After learning at the level of care my mother-in-law required we were unable to afford it. But even after knowing this one of the staff members named Tony genuinely cared about our desperate situation and offered additional resources trying to help. It is a very rare thing for someone to genuinely care enough to offer assistance even when there’s no gain for themselves... no sale... without Tonys help I don’t think it would be possible for us to have found the right care for my mother-in-law. I will forever be greatful for your human kindness!

Eric the Administrator could not have been more helpful. He came to the hospital multiple times to assess and really understand my Mother's needs even though Emerson House didn't even have a vacancy at the time. Unfortunately Mom was discharged and had to go elsewhere but the guidance he provided was invaluable and his extreme knowledge and passion in dementia care was obvious. Dad lived at Emerson House for seven months. The staff provided loving and attentive care for each resident. Rarely did we find Dad in his room when we visited - he was in the activity room. We really appreciated the numerous activities provided for the residents. They could come and go from activities as they chose, if they didn't like one. Even if Dad didn't like one, he usually stayed for the snack. Emerson House is clean and comfortable. Once a month the executive director facilitated an Alzheimer's support group for loved ones of those with Alzheimer's or dementia. My husband and I found those very helpful.

She was 95 years old, had a broken hip and a freshly and untreated broken femur bone in her right thigh. She had quit eating and had quit drinking anything, including water. She had severe Alzheimers. Again, she was dieing, and was on morphine for severe pain. She was as bad as it gets. She was treated with the utmost love and care that could be imagined. Eric, the executive director of Emerson house spent an hour or two just explaining to us how Helen would fit in at Emerson House. You cannot imagine how Helen's son and daughter were comforted with the knowledge that this extraordinary facility would provide wonderful care for their severely demented mother...their severely injured mother, their dieing mother. Eric explained how the architectural layout of the facility was designed to calm the fragile minds of those with severe dementias and that Helen would be admitted at noon. Helen was admitted at exactly noon and taken in her wheel chair to the dining area as if she had been having lunch there every day! This was all planned so that she would just assume that this was her normal routine. And she did just that! From there on, she just fit in...with no fright...with no sense of newness...with no fear. It was like she had just come home. Eric, the staff, and their coordination with Hospice was incredible. The hospitality, the kindness, the alertness, the superbly trained staff, and the overall and constant loving service from ALL employees was just marvelous. Helen's adult children, her son and daughter in law, and her grand daughter, and her son-in-law all all are immensely thankful to Emerson house for providing Helen with a place and the service for her to comfortably and safely spend her remaining days on earth.
