Her name is Shante Blount and she is top notch. She shows compassion and empathy to the residents. One of the nicest people you could meet. Truly stands out and deserves to be recognized. The Ballentine is my new home. It is WONDERFUL. Ms.Pat has been so very helpful and kind to me since I got here 4/5/25. She and her staff have been supportive, on point, encouraging, helpful and educating me about my Issues. Clean building, making improvements, Med Techs are fantastic ©. Plenty to do. While ultimately we did not choose the Ballentine for our mom, our family was very pleased with our experience speaking with the staff. Carolyn, the sales director, was incredibly kind and informative. She made sure we had all the information we needed and was very empathetic to our situation. We also met Pat, the director of nursing, who was also very kind and knowledgable. i have not doubt the folks at the Ballentine are great care givers!

Where to start? The Ballentine is the Taj Mahal of Norfolk. What a great facility. Clean, quiet but more importantly the staff. What a wonderful, friendly group of people. I met so many people but these few were so helpful. Pat Pierce made me feel like I was at home. Such a nice lady. Alex Torres was so helpful in getting my Wife's belongings into her new home. Stephen Boyd explained everything to me,took his time. Than there was CAROLYN HEWLETT. What an outstanding individual. She was so helpful through this entire process. We were on the phone 25t times. She was in constant contact with hospital case manager. Carolyn even brought paperwork to my house. I could not have asked for a more caring person. Her dedication to The Ballentine helped me to make the right decision for my Wife. (Thanks Carolyn Hewlett) A loving, caring facility that I know will give Mary the best. I'm very sad about the changes I'm seeing at the Ballantine. My sister was first transferred there by her husband when the other nursing home that she was in tried to feed her shrimp (that she is deathly allergic to!) not once but twice. The quality of the food and the care by the staff have both decreased, while the price has increased. Some of my favorite staff members havve left, & I'm afraid that's because of the change in ownership. I feel sorry for others who will not be able to get good care, as well as those who are still there but not getting the care they deserve.

As a Senior Care Consultant, it is important to me that my clients receive quality senior care services they need and deserve. When exploring senior living care options in the area, I recently toured with two client families who were looking for a senior living community who offered assisted living as well as memory care. While touring a few select options with the families, Commonwealth Senior Living ~ The Ballentine stood out among the other communities we toured. The Sales Director, Cristy Hansen, took the time to answer all their questions and provide them with the peace of mind that their loved one would be cared for by the staff. You can tell when you first walk into The Ballentine, the staff are welcoming, it smells good throughout the community, and the residents appear to be well cared for as well as happy to be there. The front desk concierge, Quan, has been very helpful to me whenever I have visited my clients post move in and he takes the time to find the information I need. Both of my clients have been residing in The Ballentine for over month now. Both clients have transitioned very well with the support of the caring staff. The families are very pleased with the care their loved one’s have been receiving at the community. I continue to refer client families to this community because of this experience as well as it offers a wonderful Sweet Memories program option for those who are living with dementia. Special thank you to the Administrator, Stephen Boyd, and the Resident Care Director, Pat Pierce, for their wonderful leadership. The Ballentine is truly an "Age in Place" community in Norfolk. The team is caring and very involved with their residents, huge advocates for their well-being and needs. The community itself is welcoming and has charm and personality that feels like home to the residents and their families. I highly recommend this community if you are looking for care for an aging loved one.
