My family and I had a great experience touring this assisted living community. Jasmine was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and took the time to answer all of our questions, which made the process feel much more comfortable. While we ultimately decided not to move our mom in at this time, we were truly impressed with the care, environment, and level of professionalism we experienced. If our situation changes in the future, this would absolutely be a place we would feel confident calling home for her.

We hav been looking at communities for my 93 year old mother. For the past six months, she has been declining with dementia and clearly needs additional support and the right environment and engagement to thrive. Brighton Gardens it’s just the right size to give my mom quality care, staff support and activities that engage her and allow her to be more independent and a safe environment. Until I experienced Brighton Gardens, I didn’t realize how important the design of the living quarters and the structure of care really is. We have been working with Jasmine. It was absolutely a delight. My mom immediately liked her and felt comfortable. Jasmine and Brighton Gardens both get five stars from me!.

As someone who travels to different AL’s and has both worked as a service provider to residents of BG and observed first hand the care a long time neighbor receivedI can wholeheartedly endorse Brighton Gardens Columbia. This is an assisted living facility (ALF) I would look into for my own loved ones if they were needing AL and wanted to be in Howard County. The Executive Director, Debbie, has an AMAZING team! Debbie’s open door policy with an office right of the elevators makes her very approachable. June and Judy at the front desk consistently display attentiveness with love and concern for all the residents. They are both eager to provide gold standard customer service. Caroline the Director of Nursing is very attentive and the nursing department has top notch clinicians and med techs. Veola the Assisted Living Coordinator and Janae the Memory Care Coordinator both lead a strong team of top notch caregivers an both are committed to ensuring skiliful and compassionate care for all residents. The Activities Department overseen by Leslie runs a large variety of very enriching programs that touch all domains (physical, cognitive, spiritual, recreational, etc). Food is always a hot topic at ALF’s and I’ve observed the Chef run focus groups with the residents and do cooking demonstrations. If you are in search of an ALF in Howard County that maintains a high standard for quality and compassionate care then search no further than Brighton Gardens Columbia!

My family moved my mom into Brighton Gardens Memory Care almost a year ago. Making this transition can be very overwhelming not knowing what to expect but immediately upon visiting, I felt like Brighton Gardens was the right place. My first encounter was Jasmine and she is amazing. Professional, caring and knowledgeable. She provided all the information we needed and made the move in process flawless. Janee, the memory care coordinator is also wonderful. She reaches out frequently with updates, keeps a close watch on all the residents and makes recommendations and suggestions to make your family member more comfortable. The nursing staff and care team are all very good, they care for the residents, interact with them throughout the day, and keep the residents cared for. They offer numerous activities throughout the day for the residents and have regularly scheduled family events. Overall a great place.

When we started the process of looking for a place for our mother, this was not our first look. I was a health professional with 48 years experience and while I was familiar with some aspects of this, this was new for me. Brighton Gardens of Columbia came at the recommendation of a friend, who is a social worker. We had looked at 5 different places and upon entering the facility it just felt right. Beautiful entryway, dining room well appointed, and resident rooms/hallways were clean, well decorated. Although mom did not use all the amenities, there were many and you saw the residents engaged. Bingo, crossword puzzles, movie night, Christian services, as well as special events for St. Patrick’s day and Easter. Staff - Jasmine was our first contact and what a good choice Sunrise made. Professional, kind, and kept us well informed. What a great introduction to Brighton Gardens. At the assessment phase, Veola (care manager) and Caroline (RN) were engaging, informative and professional. My mother was very impressed with this greeting and liked both of them immediately. As for the actual hands on staff, there were many, Cecilia (moms favorite), Barbara, Tracey, Sheereka, Julius, Sheree, Nadine, Margianna, and please forgive me if I have forgotten anyone. Unfortunately, my mother passed, but during this time, I met the evening and overnight staff and each one was just as wonderful as the daytime staff. So if there are concerns of overnight care, there should not be. Everyone was wonderful! I couldn’t believe that my interactions with every staff member was pleasant and they all showed care and love for the residents. I cannot forget to mention Josie - the watchdog of the facility. Greeting everyone that comes through the front door. I truly believe that the reason the staff is the way that they are is due to a trickle down effect that starts with executive director, Debbie Gallagher. Additionally, the staff has longevity of 10+ years. I do not know what their formula is, but they should not change anything. There truly is something magical occurring at Brighton Gardens.

The staff at Brighton Gardens is top notch. We were particularly impressed with Jasmine Adjetey. She made my mother feel very comfortable with a last-minute unforeseen assisted living move. Our family found Jasmine to be professional yet friendly, polished but disarmingly open. She left us confident that our mother was in the right place. The culture of Brighton Gardens of Columbia is amazing. The whole staff seems to take a personal interest in the residents (In this case, my mother). While Jasmine was a clear stand out, we also were impressed with Debbie, June, Leslie, and several others whose names I have forgotten. I highly recommend this assisted living community to anyone looking to place their loved ones into assisted care living.

From the moment we reached out to inquire about moving my mother to Brighton Gardens, Jasmine has smoothed the way at each step. She is cheerful, professional, and went the extra mile to get the answers we needed, including bringing a small table to demonstrate its size in mom’s room when all we asked for were the measurements. Each time we visited, Jasmine had welcome signs up to greet mom. It was such a welcoming touch. All the other staff members made a point to stop and introduce themselves to mom and to let her know how they would be assisting her. The building itself is spacious, light, clean, and newly remodeled.

My search began at the Brighton Gardens of Columbia. I wasn't sure where to go, and when I called this place, I was greeted by the most professional, pleasant, and caring person, Tony Haver. I need a Memory care facility for my dad. The first welcoming gesture I was met with was a bright welcome when I entered the front door. My name, Dad's name, and my brother's name were posted on a plaque welcoming us on our tour and to the facility. While it may seem like a small gesture, the warm welcome we received at Brighton Gardens of Columbia had a profound effect on us, making us feel truly welcomed and at ease. I was greeted by a team of professionals working to make my dad's tour memorable. My dad was greeted with a respectful tone of voice and given the respect of his title. The entire visit and explanation of the services, amenities, and activities were not only detailed but also allowed me to sit in on some of the activities. Of course, eating lunch in the large, beautiful dining room was the best. The entire memory floor is light and colorful, with attractive pictures, providing a great atmosphere and a feeling of belonging. They want to thank all the staff who made me feel welcome, especially Tony Haver, for making my visit one that I will always remember. Her professional, confident, and cheerful attitude was greatly appreciated during this difficult decision. She made me feel like I was the only one needing care for my dad, and her focus on my and Dad's needs was given the utmost attention. Thank you, Tony, for your exceptional service and for making my family feel special, respected, and appreciated during our visit.

When I first set out to find an assisted living home for my mother, I visited multiple places in the area. This was the ONLY place that I could honestly feel comfortable putting my mother in. I am incredibly grateful for the support my mother has received at Brighton Gardens. Jasmine, in particular, has gone above and beyond to ensure my mother’s transition was smooth and comfortable. Her compassion and dedication to her residents are evident in every interaction. Jasmine even —drove a long distance to bring lunch to my mother at her home and answered all of her questions, (without any pressure whatsoever). I truly appreciate the personalized care my mother is receiving. ‘Viola, Laura, Marilyn, Mary & Mary, along with the very knowledgeable Physician's Assistant, have all been wonderful with the personalized care they have given my mother. It's so comforting to know Mom is in such capable hands. That peace of mind is a true gift!

My mom just moved to Brighton Gardens about a week ago. The staff here have been so wonderfully helpful with her transition from rehab to Brighton Gardons, ensuring everything was in place for her arrival, despite a short discharge window. Jasmine was so instrumental with making sure that stressful process went by smoothly. The physical therapist, Hellen, went out of her way to help initiate the process of finding my mom a wheelchair covered by Medicare. Veola, one of the coordinators, has also ensured that she is available at any time to address any concerns I have. This place us such a breath of fresh air in terms of going above and beyond to help residents and their families have the best experience possible. They are so organized, experienced, friendly, and helpful. Would definitely recommend to any prospective residents and their families.

Toni Haver of Sales and Marketing is an excellent resource and worked diligently to assist in providing information and reviewing the qualifications of my relative for the facility. Unfortunately, he wasn't a fit but I great appreciate all of Toni's hard work with my situation. The only reason for the 4 star review is that I did not end up visiting the facility and cannot speak to the care of the residents.

This facility and its staff provide excellent care. My mother-in-law was here for seven years, including transition to memory care, until her passing this past January. Now another member of our family lives here. I am always confident that she is safe and well taken care of. Her room is kept clean, as are the public spaces, and she enjoys the meals (which is very important!). Everyone on the staff is kind, polite, and friendly as well. The management works hard to provide activities and also events that engage the family members.

I had the pleasure of visiting Brighton Gardens of Columbia and discovered an oasis of wellness nestled in a discreet location just minutes from Wegmans.. Their Director, Jasmine Adjetey, provided an in-depth tour of the facility, including their dining room and lunch menu options for the day, the wellness center, two different size living spaces, their beautiful patio and herb garden, several multipurpose rooms, their extensive and varied activity calendar, as well as the community dog. Not only is Jasmine incredibly knowledgeable and professional, but her friendly disposition and passion for ensuring all residents experience the highest quality of life possible comes through with every interaction. The entire community and every space and floor were clean, welcoming, and comfortable; it felt like home. I honestly believe that my grandfather's life could have been extended by several years had his assisted living facility been as caring and well-staffed as Brighton Gardens.

My 98-year-old dad moved into Brighton Gardens three months ago and we couldn’t be more pleased! He was warmly welcomed by everyone on staff as well as the welcoming committee of residents who made every effort to help him feel at home and gave him instant friends. The hardworking care team is kind, patient, caring, and capable. The attentive wellness team manages my dad’s medications expertly (he needs eye drops several times a day and his eyes have never looked better). The visiting RN sees my dad several times a month and is on call in between, so his health is being monitored more closely than ever before. The meals are varied, nutritious, and delicious and the facility itself is clean, tidy, inviting, and simply lovely. There are multiple opportunities to engage in the community every single day with entertaining activities”loneliness is a choice at Brighton Gardens! Choosing assisted living isn’t an easy decision. My dad wanted to stay in his own home and was reluctant to move, but 24-hour in-home care was no longer working and was exorbitantly expensive, plus he was becoming more and more isolated. Surrounded by his own furniture and treasures and by new friends and caregivers, he has adjusted well to his new home. And instead of running ourselves (and him) ragged with appointments, we can enjoy nice visits with our dad. Our only regret is that he didn’t move to Brighton Gardens 5 years ago!

I visited Brighton Gardens of Columbia and took a wonderful tour of their amazing property by their Director, Jasmine Adjetey. Not only was Jasmine incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, thorough, respectful, and thoughtful, but everyone in the residence was welcoming and friendly, the residents and the staff. The entire community and every space and floor was clean, welcoming, and comfortably felt like home. It’s an ideal location and convenient to everything. I can certainly understand why they were voted Best Assisted Living and Best Memory Care awarded by US News and World Report this year!

Brighton Gardens of Columbia is a quaint home away from home for our Loved one. The staff joined together with the best of resources and options to make the entire transition a smooth and wonderful process. The Concierge staff certainly deal well with the front entrance traffic of people coming and going daily and seem to maintain a welcoming smile and respect for the concerns of the family members. June not only quickly memorizes the residents names but those of the family members as well. Jasmine is a true gem and has worked with our family well beyond reasonable service from day one. Her level of availability is unmatched for her position and she has a genuine passion for the residents and family members. She is great at what she does! Nadine and a few of the others from the Medical team like Moussa seem like very nice people and interact very well with the residents and family members. It’s been a wonderful experience and a smooth transition so far. Thanks to all of the staff members of Brighton Gardens for all that you do from the heart!

We used Brighton Gardens in Columbia, MD for interim care while a loved one recovered from the affects of Hurricane Ian. Jasmine greeted us with open arms and took the time to learn a greeting in Polish (loved one’s native language.) Jasmine listened. She also provided those extra touches that demonstrate concern- such a sweetheart! The entire staff, nursing and physical therapy team were extremely responsive to our requests and concerns. Everyone The provided us with as much feedback as we requested. I would have given this a 5 star rating if there was greater the variety in the dining menu- soups are amazing!

My father has lived here for several years now. The staff is wonderful and makes all the difference from his experience at his previous residence. The alignment of caregivers to a small group of residents works well to build relationships and enables the caregivers to learn the foibles of each resident, assist them efficiently, and smooth interactions. It let my father become very comfortable with the staff. There is a family atmosphere in the commons area which we very soon valued much more than the elegant but impersonal building that my father first lived at. Come for the staff.

Brighton Gardens of Columbia has been my elderly parents' home for the past 4 years, and it has been a perfect fit. The facility is clean, there are always plenty of activities for the residents, and the food is delicious. The staff cares for residents like family, and Veola is truly my folks' guardian angel. Best of all, my parents are happy. I recommend Brighton Gardens without any hesitations.

I have experienced Brighton Gardens as a family member (14 years ago), and as a volunteer (now and for the last 4 years). Sure, I volunteer there to do nice things for other people, but honestly, my primary reason is the way I feel when I walk in the door. In so many ways, it’s like coming home and being on a cruise ship, all at the same time. The facility is spotless, well lit and beautifully furnished and appointed. My history with Brighton Gardens gives me a rather unique view. I get to see how quality staff members choose to stay there for long periods of time. Four examples come to mind, each of them caring, patient, thoughtful and hard working people, as are most of the staff that I come into contact with. During normal business hours, June will usually be the first person you see. Not only did she remember my dad from 14 years ago, but I could easily see that her fondness for him was warm and genuine. June is often the face and voice of Brighton Gardens. It takes a special kind of person to do this job properly. June makes it look easy. I bet it’s not. Elizabeth is the Executive Director. I didn’t know her back when, but what I see now is a calm, warm individual. The way the facility is run tells me everything else I need to know. Tracy was my father’s care manager. When things or people displeased my dad, he was never shy about telling me, but Tracy could do no wrong. Folks, that’s like a magic trick. Tracy is still there, still friendly and patient, doing the job that requires maybe the most direct contact with the residents. We were lucky to have her at my dad’s side, and Brighton Gardens is lucky to have her there still. Sheila was and still is the Activities Director and Volunteer Coordinator. My dad wasn’t interested in activities as such. His passions, among others, were teaching and writing. What did Sheila do? She gave him the resources and a time slot on the activities schedule to lead his own activity, a poetry class. That creativity (I would never have thought of that) and the above and beyond attitude are clear indications of the content of Sheila’s character. In the present day, I see the activities portion of the organization from a different perspective. This is where the cruise ship analogy is most pertinent. There is always something going on. The large number and wide variety of activities ensures that there is something for everyone. When I want to volunteer some extra hours, finding an empty time slot can be a challenge, and that is as it should be. Brighton Gardens is what it is because of a strong team effort. The details and fine points are attended to with love and compassion. The residents who live here are lucky indeed. When my time comes, I hope I’m as lucky as they are.

My mom has been a resident at BG of Columbia for the past 4 years. She lived in assisted living until recently when it was decided to move her to the the Reminiscence Care Program. First, I must say that they although the decision to move your parent into an Assisted Living facility is very difficult, I could not have picked a more perfect place for my Mom. Each person who works there truly has a gift for working with older people. June, who is both an amazing caregiver as well as the Conceirge is absolutely wonderful. Sheila, in charge of activities does a phenomenal job of meeting the diverse needs of the residents. Elizabeth who is the Executive Director has been so supportive and wonderful to both me and my mom. Tracy who was my mom's caregiver in AL Was so patient and kind to my mom. I have been extremely pleased with the support my mom has received. In March we moved mom to the Reminiscence Care Program and I had a hard time accepting my mom needed more care. It was the perfect decision- the team really knows what they are doing and what is best for each resident. I cannot say enough good things about the absolutley FANTASTIC staff. Every single person whom I've met is truly committed to taking the bestbest of my mom....from Janee the coordinator to Valerie, Roodna, Robinah and all the other caregivers. Forgive me for not knowing each name as I'm still getting to know everyone. I have worked in healthcare for about 30 years (as an LCSW, Director ofHR for a large Home Health Company then as a medical device sales representative). I only mention my background because I have a lot of experience with caregivers and I am EXTREMELY impressed with the dedication and expertise that the employees of Brighton Gardens demonstrate on a daily basis. My mom is very, very happy. She often says that I could not have found a more perfect place for her. That says it all! PS she also LOVES the food! Marvin does a GREAT job. Brighton Gardens is a fantastic assisted living community that has committed and dedicated staff. They are very responsive to accommodate the ever changing needs of their residents.

Horrendous management + corporate greed = Brighton Gardens of Columbia. The Executive Director is very impersonal and not given to smiling. Her lack of warmth and poor interpersonal skills seem an odd fit for an organization that claims to be resident centered, and it shows. She appears very uncomfortable interacting with residents, especially on the memory care unit. All management staff would benefit from training in dementia care. Communication with families is in need of vast improvement. Justifying and deflecting when issues are brought to your attention are never good strategies. Nothing ever changes at Brighton Gardens, including the lack of appropriate activities on memory care. The Activities Director seems to have had no training or education in dementia programming. Residents on the Assisted Living side routinely run activities, which has led to conflict between residents and families. Even after numerous staff and families have complained, nothing changed. Staff members have told me that Sheila is just too lazy to actually do anything herself. Brighton Gardens is not a good place for anyone with more than mild dementia. The less you can do for yourself, the greater the risk that your needs won't be met. I have grave concerns over how the memory care unit, Reminiscence, is utilized. I don't think anyone at Brighton Gardens understands what memory care is. Keeping in mind that those units are the most expensive in the building, having heard of numerous disputes over moving residents to Reminiscence, and seeing firsthand the residents with behavior problems that are placed there, clearly quality of care is not important. Brighton Gardens has proven to me that they only care about your money. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.

This facility is good for residents in good health, able to walk, communicate clearly, etc. It is not a good place for residents that need any sort of care as they age and their health condition changes. Even though they promise you that care will be available as your family member diminishes, this is not true. There is no skilled nursing available beyond checking blood pressure, checking temperature and listening to heart rate. Blood work to check for common ailments of the elderly such as anemia or urinary track infections can only be performed by the blood technician who comes in once a week as ordered by the doctor who also visits once a week. Hence, if a resident shows symptoms of distress that needs medical attention during a day or time the doctor is not present (6 out of 7 days) they have to wait till the doctor visits or be taken to the ER . The on-duty nurses can do nothing except call you on the telephone to ask you to take your family member to the ER. I've waited 11 hours with my frail mother in the ER waiting for the results of a simple blood test, resulting in her exhaustion and extreme discomfort because the "care" at Brighton Gardens is non- exsistent. As my mother's condition deteriorates, the bill increases astronomically. None the less, we have had to hire additional nursing services just to make certain she is cared for. Communication with family members is also non-existent. We used to get a monthly newsletter and a monthly report on my mother's health but that stopped at least 6 months ago. The manager left over a year ago and there was no communication to the families about this. One day she was there. The next day she was gone. It took them a long time to replace her and when someone new was eventually hired, this person made no effort to meet the families of the residents, send out a letter of introduction, etc. Complaints about care gets you nowhere. The nurse who called me to take my mother to the ER was extremely defensive about this, telling me that if I expected skilled nursing I would have to move my mother to a nursing home. When I called the corporate offices, I was politely listened to but no apologies were offered. Apparent it is standard operating procedure for the medical staff at Brighton Gardens to call a family member on a Friday afternoon to take thier mother to the ER because they are extremely worried about thier parent's ability to survive the weekend. You would think that if the medical staff had that level of concern they would have called an ambulance, but no. As I was told, "It's the family's responsibility." The awful thing about Brighton Gardens is that it is really about the best care around unless you are extremely wealthy and can afford Vantage House or Broadmead. We are paying a lot of money for bad food, no nursing care, no communication and complete indifference from the corporate offices.
